I raid them solo all the time. I actually do it just as you describe in the video, one side first, the other after. I thought that was a great video too, with the two perspectives like that. You've hit upon a very cool formula! A video for the NW Airfield would be great as well.

when I come in from the coast I just smash into them as my life doesn't have much value but even then I dont really want to die so thats why I looked into it the way I have lol... now the NWAF is a very very very interesting topic for a few different reasons, barrack raiding is really fun solo and in a group - I think approaching both barracks are two separate topics just because of how you have to approach them and the level of play up north is so much more intensive and costly. I have footage from an interesting night fight up there that I might discuss but it is definitely something I want to discuss.

on a side note, how often would you like to see this type of content being rolled out? just out of interest.

Are you suggesting that a lone player should only raid the near-side tents, and ignore crossing the open ground to loot the more exposed far-side ones? Would you scope out the far side tent from the near side one across from it to evaluate if the loot present was worth the risk of running across? Does this decision depend in part on what loot you manage to find on the near side?

What are some good exit strategies for leaving the tents?

Has anyone every tried employing smoke to screen off the tent area from the rusty car sniping vantage point when looting the tents? Is this viable, or does it just attract more attention? Most snipers are in my experience too cautious to move into a CQB situation, and they often don't have ideal gear...but they might have a spotter who does.

Stary is one of my favourite locations, I'm always looking for new ideas to survive there more successfully.

you bring up a lot of good points, the thing about dayz is that your judgement has to be fluid, you cant run by a set of rules 100% of the time, you have to be dynamic in judgement... if you were to loot the near side first and it came up fruitless you have an issue on your hands because you dont want to leave the tents unarmed! if it is possible to see what is on the other side of the tents, it would be useful to take note before weighing up the risk on going for it...

smokes are a great way to block off the line of site of a sniper, they are also great and getting zombies attention and they are also great at telling everyone that you are around - smokes play an extremely big role in dayz that a lot of people dont seem to think about, I personally have used smokes in stary tents to get away from a sniper but it was my last (and i mean last) resort! this is only because your never the only one in stary, there always seems like there is multiple groups all doing there own thing.

as for exit strategies... that is something very circumstantial, if you believe your the only one to trigger zombies in then I would exit the way I came, I never like to come in from the west. having said that, sometimes things dont go your way and you just have to sprint and wish for the best lol.

Good points about the smoke. I have never used it pre-emptively, especially since it is usually easy to check the rusty car spot before making your move. It would only become an issue if a sniper took up that position after you cleared it, and before you were done in the tents. I agree, smoke is best used as a last resort, e.g. if you get caught in the tents with your pants down and the sniper misses his first shot. You can then use it to try to escape. I always try to carry a smoke grenade with me as well for a last ditch escape.

My usual exit is north through the thin woods. Probably not the best, but I'm an assault rifle guy and getting into the woods where the snipers may be ASAP gets me a leg up on any hostile who is there with a scoped weapon.

Great analysis and epic intro, I'd love to see more of these!

When coming from the town, I do the same route. If I'm approaching Stary from the north I'll check the usual sniper locations before moving through the thin trees down the hill to the tents.

My exit is usually different to my entry just due to the fact that I run with a large squad, so I can turn up on my own and raid the tents and have a few people come and escort me safely or have them lock stary down or better still miss out stary completely and gear up as a group.

Man, the intro+outro are so good, love it!

really glad you like it!

more on the way, I wasnt expecting so many replies so soon! I shall have another episode up Tuesday/Wednesday !

it seems a lot of people have the same plan of action when it comes to approaching the tents, its interesting to see the differences in what people carry and look out for though! cool beans!
