Nothing should really be balanced in a game such as DayZ. When stuff is not balanced, it is fun and scary to play a game where you realise that you can be killed at any moment by anything. I don't really think adding a glare on a sniper lens is really needed. Especially the lens glare in BF3, it was pretty unrealistic.

I would prefer it if the scary things in game were not supernatural as DayZ is not really a horror game. It would feel out of place and as Man vs Wild said: DayZ is a simulation. Nice idea though would be pretty creepy. Maybe some private servers could implement it if they like the idea.

Sneak up on snipers and plant a satchel charge behind them. Get their attention and promptly run off. Detonate if they move.

I really want mountains in the standalone but i am not so sure about the desert idea. It seems a bit out of place even though Chernarus is nearby Takistan. If there was some kind of transition between Chernarus and a desert it would be pretty good.

Some server seem to be very laggy compared to others due to them not restarting often. You should try some other servers as the server you are using may be the problem.

Check back after server restart. Sometimes they dissapear until server restart. That or somebody destroyed your tent.

If this were added, i'm pretty sure this game will not be coming out in Australia or Germany.

The mines should be an instant kill. If you step on a mine i'm pretty sure you are not gonna walk away unscathed.

They would be pretty overpowered though. If they were added, then maybe up the spawn rate of the m136 so players can't just roll into Cherno and kill everything that moves. It would be pretty sweet to see an LAV tear up snipers on Sniper hill near Elektro.
