Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 3, 2012 I was thinking, when SA comes out how long will it take before your bored of the map? Take into account now we have a lot of maps available for many different types of gameplay. I am not being negative just wondering what the plan is for continuous improvements? Or is this top secret info so the "other game" cant steal ideas? Is rocket going to use the new chernaurus plus map only and release new additions and patches over time? This is just like the mod now but with nothing on the horizon. Or is the team looking into new maps and mods? I would say interest in the mod would have waned had there not have been a community behind it. But as the platform has changed then due to coding and lack of maps this will limit the community for the time being! It seems the MOD will still have a purpose! and those waiting solely for the SA will be limited because they don't have ARMA 2 CO. I'll have both for more choice and experience. As said I'm not being negative, when the SA is released there will be a blank hole from waiting and this I fear will be filled with impatient moaning posts again like before the announcement of the SA. TLDR?In short without giving too much away, what plans you got (or would like) for a prolonged experience with the SA?
Inception. 9443 Posted November 3, 2012 If there is so much more, then it'll be a while.
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 3, 2012 If the "dogs" issue is anything to go by then we will be waiting a long time for any major inclusions to the SA. Seems to me we are going to be in a situation where if something changes and goes wrong, just like the mod patches and updates. People are going to get bored of the SA just like they did with the MOD!This remember is one reasons why a lot of players stopped playing because of late fixes, take for example combat logging, only just been worked and still has issues to iron out!Patience is advised. I can wait but some cannot.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) Don't forget, half of the issues with the mod updates were/are caused because it's a mod, it's like trying to polish a turd, they had no access to the actual engine. That's why they've moved on so quickly, there's no point spending months trying to patch up something when progress can be made so much more easily with access to the engine and programmers on the team that have worked with the engine for a decade.I will get bored after roughly 40 bazzillion years. ManiacMike69 37 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) SA will be amazing! Edited November 3, 2012 by ManiacMike69
ManiacMike69 37 Posted November 3, 2012 Simple answer. Never. I'm not bored of the mod at all and I've been playing it everyday for at 4/5 months. This game ticks all the boxes.

tommes 331 Posted November 3, 2012 Just don't play 5+ hours a day and you'll be fine for a long time.
DrunkPunk 159 Posted November 3, 2012 I do agree, I am a bit worried about standalone simply due to the map diversity. As it stands, the only chernarus map I can stand has extra buildings in places like cherno, the airfields, elektro and a new town on the very west. I really don't see teh standalone chernarus keeping my attention much, but maybe rocket will maintain the open nature of the mod and allow custom maps. who knows, we can only hope. Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) I suppose more maps would open the game up as it did for the MOD.I do play for long amounts of hours, but that's the beauty of the game for me, the immersion. so it can become a bit boring quicker for me. dekartz 315 Posted November 3, 2012 With Day Z basically being a "sandbox" game. It can be said any 'boredom' is partially the fault of the player(s). If one can't use the tools presented in the game to keep their self entertained then perhaps they should move on to something else and come back to it? I take breaks from playing DayZ all the time, and as such the game tends to remain relatively fresh for me when I come back to playing it.
fluxley 2228 Posted November 3, 2012 Theres an interview with rocket where he says something along the lines of he's wants to add new maps in the future, possibly even community made maps. but i cant see it happening for a while.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted November 3, 2012 (edited) Yup, new maps will be added to the SA if all goes to plan but that'll be a bit further down the road. Edited November 3, 2012 by Fraggle
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted November 3, 2012 I don't want to see the SA team putting too much thought into adding new maps any time soon. I would much rather they concentrated on turning what they have currently into a fully functional game. It's a case of when Rocket decides DayZ feels "complete", then the team can turn their hand to any number of things.
