What exactly are they used for? I've been told they can be used for long term storage of gear, but are they persistent? (if i log off or change servers will it still be there) what are they actually useful for?

They are useful for long term storage of gear. They are persistent, but tied to the server you set it up in.

Say you set up a tent in US2 and put a bunch of car parts in it. Whenever you log into US2 your tent will be where you left it with the car parts you left.

Unless someone comes by, finds your tent, and jacks your shit. Otherwise they are like a savespot for gear...on said server.

i found a tent out in a field amongst some trees it had 5 blood bags in it, and i couldnt take the tent no matter what i tried.

You can't pack tent which belong to someone else. You can only raid it.

Is there actually any reason to store your stuff? Wont server resets (which seems frequent) just screw you over?

AFAIK server restarts will destroy the contents of your tent on occasion. I've lost everything in my tent before even since 1.5.4. I was using a car to store gear in as at least the gear stayed in it, but that moved after a server restart so er not quite working properly.

Also tents disappear after 2 days if you die! Remember to make a new ten if you die. Your old tent only stays for 2 days.

In another note always log out holding your most valuable item.

Yup they're working.

Just make sure you Save %1 them after putting stuff in them and you should be k.

It's an option, it force save the tent. The player must activate it.

It appears on the action menu ( scroll ) facing a tent.

This is fixed in next update (says "Save Tent", "Save Car", etc...)

It's only there as a "backup". It SHOULD have automatically when you repair, get out, get shot, etc... but just in case.

was on a server last night and setup a tent put some stuff inside it when the server got taken off for the 1.55 update, i logged in asap to find said tent gone along with the contents:(

I can confirm. Only for tents. Cars are not fixed yet.
