Weapons & Gear Should Be A Means To An End Not 'The End'

Weapons and gear currently are all that people same to care about, for the future of Day Z it seems only right that the game should lean far more towards these being the means to an end that end being surviving. Rather than currently people would care more about getting gear than keeping their character alive.

I hope this issue is addressed for the stand alone and I'm sure Rocket and the team are trying to work out a way to fix this issue. This does seem however to be a very complex thing to fix.

What are others thoughts on this? Do you agree or disagree?

Does anyone know if Rocket has talked about this, I'd love to know his thoughts.

hopefully they go the namalsk way where food and drink is rare. That way surviving is actualy difficult and fun.

Yes, having weapons be rare but food and drink be even rarer would certainly improve the game experience.

I've checked out most if not all of them and can't recall seeing anything about this though may have missed it.

I would love to see medical supplies be more rare, if someone actually had to worry about breaking their leg they might be somewhat more concerned with fire fights.

I wish there were other things such as farming, ranching, diseases, colds, sickness, nutrition concerns, etc. But only for like a certain difficulty or something, that way getting to "The End" wasn't so easy.
