tiresomehoopla 37 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) For those of you who are short on time I highlighted the important parts in Red.Currently in DayZ zombies are a second thought to players, maybe even an afterthought to everything in the game. I want to be actually scared when I hear the screech of a zombie. The zombie noises should also be alot...Scarier. The current ones are just annoying. If any of you have ever downloaded and played charons undead mod, the dayz zombies should be alot like the infected of the undead mod. (Not the zombie class-those ones just waddle around like ducks with their arms outstretched.) Sometimes when I play the undead mod I actually flinch from fear. (And that's without a character I spent hours developing.) The screams of the undead mod are genuinely scary, and one hit starts the infection count-down. Infection count-downs would be a brilliant addition to dayz, just not a 100% chance on hit. Maybe...A 10% chance? or 5%? the countdown in the undead mod is 6 minutes, it should be a few hours in dayz. Also, the antidote could spawn in the hospital and at helicopter crashes.(This feature should make for some intense races against time.) Next we move onto detection. The zombies detect you as accurately as a regular arma unit. However it shouldn't be this way in dayz, as their eyes have rotted. Or maybe have zombies with random eyesight, and hearing health, creating randomized detection? either way, the zombies in dayz are much too easy to sneak by and get loot. You should NOT be able to lose them so easily in a pine tree, or bush, or forest. Assuming all this is implented into SA then they would be able to run indoors, meaning you can't simply deal with them in a building. The screech should alert a lot more zombies than currently (Should alert the zombies across the road...) In the undead mod, the only efficient way to finish zombies off is a headshot, otherwise they take up to five shots simply to kill. In the undead mod, you also cannot outrun them, meaning that you must shoot them before they come to you and you can't simply lose them in the woods. however, you should be able to outrun them while sprinting, and jogging in the standing posture. but you should not be able to outrun them in the crouch-run posture. going back to the undead mod again, it is very hard to defend yourself against a horde by yourself, easier to defend in a group, although still fairly hard. this would undoubtedly encourage teamplay, or at least until the zombies are gone and one person envies those Night Vison Goggles ;) Edited October 29, 2012 by Tiresomehoopla
rata487 9 Posted October 29, 2012 Well these are all good ideas i think  but maybe it would be much harder for the beginners. So i do not recommend this for beginners. But i think it should be perfect for the more skilled people. Good ideas. ;)
tiresomehoopla 37 Posted October 29, 2012 Well we could make it veteran only? Or regular only? Or maybe make it to where you spawn with a weapon again :D
Shadow Man 142 Posted October 29, 2012 This is what I think.Zombies should be reasonably easy to sneak around (they see you if they're facing you etc), BUT if they see you it should be bad. They alert all nearby Z's. Shouldn't be too bad for new players.I think their movement needs to be less erratic, so you can shoot them, but they need to run indoors and straight at you. The other option is they move at half speed, but there are 3 times as many of them. Either way it needs to be VERY important to not get their attention.Infection would be great to see. Vomiting, blurred vision, trembling. Maybe food and drink have reduced or adverse effects. Maybe if a character dies of the infection they become a "super" zombie npc of some sort?
tiresomehoopla 37 Posted October 30, 2012 Maybe-And if you killed the zombie NPC, you'd get the gear.
DZR_Mikhail 2424 Posted October 30, 2012 Are we talking about the Mod or about the Standalone? In SA it is confirmed zombiez are changed completely from scratch and will be made more brutal.
sheepdawg 278 Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) So am I to believe that the white parts are shit and i dare not bother read them? I have to admit i read your post only raeding the red parts and some of them made no sense. Perhaps you should make all the lazy idiots read everything. Also since no "survivor" gets infected I like to think of it as a:SPOILER ALERT!!!:/The Walking Dead/:/SPOILER:type of virus. Never seen anyone become infected after death by zombie or prolonged exposure to the "virus/disease/pandemic/mutation". I have to admit that I do like some ideas...such as perhaps higher medicine % at miliatry crash sites and loot zones. I mean..the military sucks so bad it only makes sense they would have a stockpile of antibiotics/"cures". Edited October 30, 2012 by Sheepdawg

Sorry about that.
enjsalo 1 Posted March 14, 2013 very good ideas! Perhaps not change much on how zombies detects players, but they should definitely alert all nearby zombies. But all others suggestions should be added!

joe_mcentire 2074 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) hahahaha!!! yes old stuff! But still good! :-)problem is that at this time, things have been changed and many infos were already given which rule most of the suggestions out or even have been already confirmed:- players don't get "the infection"- decaying zombies have already been confirmed (at least at some point)- zombies are in fact infected ppl, therefore they can die "arbitrarily", not only by headshots...so in general it doesn't make much sense to excavate such old threads. But now i'm confused as to why it's called DayZ :P
