kidkaor 0 Posted October 29, 2012 Like for instance mess around with the files to make it easier to run for others? Take L4D2, TF2, or a game I know called GunZ. You can alter the files to make the graphics bad but play it much better then before.
OrLoK 16185 Posted October 29, 2012 (edited) Hello thereYou cannot mess around with the core files. There are alternatives though. Firstly there is the graphic settings one can adjust then there are the cfg files and command line perameters.Check here community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Startup_ParametersAlso check the bohemia forums for all the customisation commands you needrgdsLoK Edited October 29, 2012 by orlok

kidkaor 0 Posted October 29, 2012 Why don't you get a better graphics card?Because I'm not made of money and my parents wont buy me one.Working on getting a job.
OrLoK 16185 Posted October 29, 2012 Why don't you get a better graphics card?On that note, why not buy us both one? :)Remember, not everyone is in a great position financially. To OP, yes these param etc will help a little if ones gfx card is not up to much. That's why so many of us explored so many options back in the day.Be prepared to invest time reading and experimenting though. A2 is not an easy beast to tame on low end machines.RgdsLoK

DazTroyer 227 Posted October 29, 2012 Why don't you get a better graphics card?I would guess lack of cash would be the main thing, Jeez.
TheDuriel 26 Posted October 29, 2012 should work fine on optimized settingslow fps are server/cpu/hdd side problems if the gpu can run it
boneboys 7988 Posted October 29, 2012 Do you have the game already ?If not, post the rest of your computer build, ram, processor....the game is very cpu dependant. If you disable DayZ Mod there are 3 stress test benchmarks, set your options for better fps.Thread derpwashed. Mos1ey 6301 Posted October 29, 2012 If you need to lower your graphics via config in L4D2 then I don't think you're gonna have much luck with ArmA II mate. My laptop runs L4D2 maxed out with 90 FPS and even stock ArmA is unplayable, lol.

boneboys 7988 Posted October 30, 2012 Well, the thing that holds you back is the intergated graphics, not the card itself but the fact that it will draw from the 4gb of system Ram.You could try the ArmA 2 free version just to get an idea.http://www.arma2.com/freeGood luck. Mos1ey 6301 Posted October 30, 2012 That's a good point. ArmA II: Free uses lower res textures than the paid for version. You can use that and Operation Arrowhead to play DayZ. Might run a bit better on a low spec system.
kidkaor 0 Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) How can I make it not so blurry :/What should I put 3D resolution on? Edited October 31, 2012 by kidkaor
mazeash@mail.com 73 Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) That should be the same as your native screen resolution. Unlike most games Arma has a seperate resolution for its interface and video, set them both the same and at the same size as you normally use. You can also turn down visibility to 1600 (maximum sniper range), turn off opengl, set graphics usage to auto, obviously turn everything else low or off. And hope for the best.EDIT: Oh I assume you have already updated your graphic card's drivers? And it's worth noting that Arma II uses a lot more CPU power OFFLINE compared to playing multiplayer (DayZ itself) so if you're only benchmarking offline I would suggest that you test any changes by joining servers. (the busier they are the less likely there will be any server side lag, better for testing). Edited October 31, 2012 by Maze

Honestly, the game just isn't worth playing if I have to play with these graphics, just couldn't enjoy it.
mazeash@mail.com 73 Posted October 31, 2012 so now you know you can run it smoothly with those settings you can try increasing things gradually. start with textures, makes a huge difference to the appearance. then tweak around until it starts to lag. If you cant get any inprovement, get a new system :-D. you can get decent barebones pcs for around £200 on ebay.
