Using Map waypoints and markers

Recommended Posts

Howdy i was just wondering, sometimes when i log into a server and look at my map i see markers on it the "(X)_____" type, if you know what i mean haha hard to explain :P and i was just wondering if i put these markers on my may will other players be able to see them and delete them? I would find it very usefull to mark certain buildings and areas etc but if other can see them and delete them with their maps i wont be doing. So yeah my question is can ohers see your map markers?

Others can see those little "notes".

If you are on the regular map - not the "notes" section - you can put down a waypoint, visible on your HUD by holding SHIFT and clicking.

That is, if the server doesn't suck and remove that ability.

And I forgot to mention: others cannot see the waypoints (only the map markers / comments).

The (X) markers can be placed by double clicking on the map, removed them by hovering over it with the mouse and hitting delete on the keyboard.

Waypoints are just like HMS said - shift click the map and you will get a marker on your hud showing distance to the waypoint.

Don't overlook the fact that they can also be used for misinformation. If you are planning on operating in the NE of the map area for the evening, why not throw a bunch of "X-HeliCrash" or "X-4 tents!" and other enticing markers in areas far from where you plan to be. It takes only a few seconds to do and could possibly lead some players out of your vicinity.
