Balloons should be a part of the game where you could blow them up to attract zombies as well as locating survivor positions. Balloons can be used to lift animals to safe areas for harvesting foods. Balloons can also be used as alternate mode of travel. Thoughts?

Hello there

Ballons are quite tricky things to operate in real life and have a many delicate components, also the rarity would have to be utterly high.

An interesting idea, but for me a little out of the Dayz ethos.

Keep the ideas coming though, perhaps I'm worng!

A ballon would probably be a method for a post apocalyptic society, but I don't think we're there yet. With still enough fuel and functional vehicles around it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

Am i reading this thread right? you want Balloons to lift up animals?

Has the world gone mad? when was the last time you saw this happen? This suggestion is so stupid I now feel stupider for having read it.

I'm going to try and use several balloons to lift my labrador tonight to test this interesting theory. I will report back with my results.

Yes, please do. I may test the theory with my Japanese Spits, wonder how many balloons that takes.

Early tests reveal little to no elevation of the dog:

More testing needed.

More balloons needed! And more color.

Agreed. As a side project I will also be attempting to lift my cat using "science". Early testing reveals that again more balloons are needed to gain satisfactory results:

Well, if nothing else, just imagine the earnings from the DayZ balloon franchise!

Hello there

Well, I was thinking "proper balloons" but party ones are far, far cooler.

Isn't there a Darwin award for the chap who put balloons on his chair and floated up several miles into the atmosphere and froze to death?

Rather than testing on dogs and cats, why not just use exploiters and scripters?

Balloons, how do they work?

I'll factor those blueprints into my next experiment.

If you get liftoff and the balloons pops... it will rain cats and dogs. Sorry.

Did some experimenting today, needless to say it did not go as planned.

May be the lack of colors affecting the dog's behavior, will do more testing when I can afford more balloons.

I think it's because the balloons were clashing with his collar. Try red ones or a blue collar.

Bigger balloons or smaller dogs. Can anyone donate a cow? For science?

Tried the experiment with a Sheep, very successful. Sheep had such an effective altitude increase that I had a struggle taking a picture that included the balloons. You can see the strings if you look closely.

Project should definitely be do-able with the right type of balloons and the right colors.
