I get bored by all these "reality checks"

where is the sense in all these "reality checks"?

it's a computrer game, nothing more, nothing less. it makes completely no sense to compare this in any real life and because i do not live in america, i do not know any child of 5 years who could even fire a gun or hit a target in real life if it would fire a gun by accident. it's just a computergame to waste some real life time nothing less, nothing more. most people here would die in real life without being shot by others or eaten by zombies....hahaha. so reality checks are quite useless.

and because it is a computer game even perma death means you get another chance.... with luck you can also loot your own body. well, if i die in the future i will try to loot my body if i remember for what. unfortunately i never had any use for a gun right now... and even there are real zombies in the hamburg subway early in the morning, it's still forbidden to kill all these people because most of them have tickets to use the trains.

or do you always jump in real life in another world where it's daytime when it is in your hometown dark and cold? oh and i forget... of course all of you people know how to fly a real helicopter.... after they repared it without tools, but with a rotor which came out of their backpack ... oh my god.

it's just a game and no real world! make a reality check running cross country for 10 hours with a rifle in your hands and a full backpack .... muahaha!

so just let reality where it belongs to ... this game just need some balance and maybe different servers for different playstiles with different settings and no boring reality checks,

The fact that you mention all those unrealistic examples just goes to show how people can't help but notice when something in a simulation doesn't make sense in reality, even if that person doesn't want it changed. So, you can't blame people for wanting to make simulations as close to reality as possible.

When we're cyborgs or giant blobs of goo slithering around cherno consuming zeds, then I'll jump on the "who cares about reality" bandwagon, until then I want it real and "boring".

DayZ isn't meant to be 100% realistic, that's what the real world is for, but it IS meant to allow for immersion.

When the immersion begins to settle into players, they get all feely and begin acting with their gut instead of the binary system we've established in games prior. I feel like DayZ should open up with a disclaimer:

"DayZ should not be played to win. Instead, focus on immersing yourself in the game’s world and story. The world of DayZ is a dangerous place and you are vulnerable. Use your wits. Fight, hide, or even run if necessary.”

If that sounds familiar, it should. DayZ has the potential to be as gripping as Amnesia, but only if you don't go into it with the mentality of "yeah let's pwn noobs today!"

Try talking about turning the brightness and gamma up in an Amnesia forum, tell them it's just a game and not scary, see what the reaction is.

I wrote a whole piece here explaining how the OP should learn to enjoy DayZ but on reading it back i thought "what's the point" he's obviously young, impatient and lacking in that most fundemental of things needed to enjoy sandbox games....an imagination!

The only thing missing in this thread is the obvious next steps.

Every gun should be color coded, Makarov is white, main hand weapons that are easily acquirable can be blue, then we can make all the military loot a pretty purple colour. That'll make the OP feel much more at home.

Then they can add socketed weapons, with upgrades like 'makes a bigger pew pew' and 'enlarges epeen'. After that, we can get the devs to redesign the game for the beta stages to be custom made to everyones perfect expectations.

Or you can seriously just play the god damn game and appreciate how good it is without bitching about how realistic / unrealistic / real / unreal / stupid it is. There's plenty of games out there that are 'unrealistic' military sims COD, BF Series etc etc why don't you just leave this one to the people that appreciate the irony of trying to survive while every other player on the server is out to put his head on a stick during a zombie apocalypse.

Dude, you are complaining about what is the essence of this game to us. As always: YMMV. And i never said it before, but: You might want to play something else, maybe BF3 (people seem to like it) or if you are into singleplayer try Stalker: Call of Pripyat it's a blast.

You have dozens of mainstream/casual zombie games. DayZ is different - it's challenging, interesting, original game and it is survival sim, not a shooter only. That is what is best in DayZ.
