A short word regarding Dayz standalone

I know you will never implement something unrealistic to deter banditing, like warping you into a prison for 2 hours if you kill more than x number of survivors in less than 20 minutes. Personally if the game turns out to be good, I will buy the game solely to shoot each and every survivor that I see on sight with no explanation. I wouldn't do any quests/mission or whatever shit you'll try to implement to keep people busy doing something else than deathmatching. I will not coop, I will not do missions, I will not waste my time looking for rare 'survival' items like power generators or building supplies. I will look for a gun and I will shoot each and every survivor that I see with absolutely no reason at all. When people turn into clans for safety, and start trusting no one outside of their clan, I would apply and join clans on here, reddit or any other site, join and kill all of the clan members and blow up their stash of vehicles and loot. In a couple of days, I will turn dayz standalone into nothing but a deathmatch w/ zombies like dayzmod is about. And when I am done turning dayz into dayzmod, I will sell my copy of dayz standalone. -

1. Ammo and magazines as separate items. 2. Ability to fire your weapon even if you don't have any magazines or loaded magazines. You would do this by loading a round through the ejection port and firing your weapon, and repeating it. 3. Ability to perform a combat reload that is faster than a regular one. A combat reload is one where you let the magazine drop to the ground while retrieving a new one. Useful for CQC. You'd have to retrieve the magazines from the floor after you are done. I see combat reload/regular reload being toggled like semi/burst/auto fire with regular reload being the default. For this you will need a hud indicator as to what is selected. 4. Ability to cook your own homemade explosives and make different explosive devices out of them. Like a simple pipe bomb or a huge IED from an oil barrel filled with HME. I don't know how detailed the procedures should be, but I would make it so that you must just add all required ingredients at a 1:1 ratio into a big pot and cook them on a fire. Sugar, aluminium powder, fertilizer, different acids, diesel, etc. 5. Remote detonated and victim activated explosive devices. 6. Car bombs. Fill the trunk with a huge load of explosives or hide smaller devices in the cabin and make them go off remotely or when someone opens the door or turns on the engine. You could examine the vehicle for an IED and attept to disarm it, and while a large device may be obvious, smaller ones might be missed. Chance of failure at disarming it and setting it off instead. 7. Ability to turn old tank, arty, mortar shells and airplane bombs into IEDs or retrieve the explosives for homemade grenades and other stuff. 8. Pull a tripwire across a doorway or between trees that when triggered would drop one or several live grenades at your feet. Basically all kinds of boobytraps, explosive and non explosive. 9. Ability to make thermite. 10. Ability to lock and barr doors. 11. Ability to burn (thermite) through the locks of said doors or blast through them (improvised breaching charges). 12. Rare spawns of proximity mines like claymores or the russian equivalents. When approached from behind you can easily disable them and take them for yourself. 13. Scooba gear. 14. Ability to make floating bases from fishing trawlers, tankers or big ships that hav run onto the rocks or are anchored near the coast. I'm not sure how these would actually work but to infiltrate them scooba gear would be essential. 15. Ability to make floating bases out of pontoons, barrels, anything that will float and put them on lakes, bays, wherever is suitable. 16. If in a snow environment then skis and human pulled sleds for the wounded/captives/gear/fun. Also snowshoes would be useful. 17. Ability to remove any article of clothing (underwear and bras excempt for rating purposes). Only that not wearing shoes or going through the brush without clothes would be detrimental to your healt. Also, hypothermia. If a group of people wanted to go about shirtless then they should be able to do it. 18. Clothes and shoes that degrade. Shoes would get worse and worse (problems with you feet and probably a slower running speed) and clothes would get tattered. 19. Body armor, both military and civilian grade. Helmets and vests. Also ceramic ESAPI/SAPI inserts for military bodyarmor. Those would protect you from even rifle rounds. Effectiveness of bodyarmor would depend on round fired, weapon used, range and possibly condition of weapon and rounds that are used. It shouldn't be that body armor absorbs a percentage of the damage. If you get hit in your armor plate with a caliber that it is immune to, then nothing happens, too many hits and it gets compromised, then you start taking damage. Body armor would make you slower. 20. Ability to climb trees and hide stuff in them. You should be able to see that somethign is hidden in a tree if you look for it, the tree shouldn't be just a supid container. 21. Ropes with hooks and rope ladders to make additional escape routes or to better infiltrate/assault an enemy building. 22. Ability to salvge weapon parts from destroyed military vehicles. After going through enough HMMWV's you might end up with a working, shitty, fire compromised, prone to failure .50 cal machinegun. 23. Every destroyed vehicle with wheels/tracks you should be able to tow (if you have a powerful enough towing vehicle, then even without wheels). This wouldn't be necessarily for repairing them, but even to create a static barrier for your base. It would be nice to pull a BMP-1 and create a wall. 24. Right now ligting is very bad. If the sun is in your view then everything looks nice, but if the sun goes out of your view (behind a tree, whatever) then everything gets dark, even parts of the tarrain that should be illuminated by the sun (like a field next to the forest). I have messed with lighting settings in the game, but I can't fix it and its is very very annoying. -

Im 15, mature, but I consider myself a joker sometimes. I play DayZ quite seriously, I can get geared up within 5 minutes, no matter the spawn, I am currently a hero, I consider myself a pretty good medic, I don't Shoot on sight unless needed. I am looking for a clan, camps and vehicles are a plus, but not needed as long as I'm with good team players who absolutely know what they are doing. I have skype, teamspeak and a good connection so no random cut offs will happen. Add me on Skype - hdmatt if you can have me ;D Thanks

Hi,Could you explain why the server had a long reset session yesterday afternoon,a friend and I did a raid on a camp that was hoarding vehicles,it took us at least 8 hours to move everything,we loaded every vehicle to the max and did many return trips...along the way we found the chopper...this was our ultimate goal..we had been planning the raid for a few days,thats is why we moved in at about 5.30am.I can't say I was very happy when I rejoined the herp derp server today and found all our booty was gone!..poor form on the servers behalf..My beef is...why host a server if you can't play fair,you can shoot at us & kill & thats ok for you.obviously we raided the admins camp,so you felt so dominated you reset everything.POOR FORM IN MY OPINION! We took nothing but items & vehicles,now i want BLOOD! Keep your thermal scopes on the horizon...........Weak as piss. -

The server specs are as follows; CPU (Processor): Intel Xeon E3 1245v2 (3.4+ GHz, 3.8GHz boost) RAM (Memory): 32,768Mb (32GB) ECC DDR3 HDD (Hard Disk): 2 x 120GB Intel SSD's RAID Configuration: Raid 0 Operating Systems: Windows Server 2012 Network Speed: 100 MBit/s Uplink Port (1Gbit/s available) Included Bandwidth: Unmetered Location: Roubaix, France, EU On our dedicated server, we will have our own database/hive, this allows us to have complete control over everything. We will be able to add new vehicles, new weapons, camo's, etc, if theres anything you would like to see please let me know We will look to host multiple servers, possibly with different Arma2 mods like Wasteland, early days yet but we'll see A few ideas being pitched so far is to have a large 100 slot Chernarus server, and a smaller 50 slot Chernarus server, both using whitelisting. I would like to see locks and lockpicks for vehicles, as well as can openers, more household weapons out of ArmA II's weapon pool, and CQB weapons like garrots, switchblades, melee weapons, or something along those lines. -
I play as a scavenger, my whole purpose is to hoard valuable items to trade for later or to ensure my presence in the world, I tread on slippery moral ground as I normally loot cycle and kill people for their loot, or simply take it off from dead bodies. scenario 1: I'd just avoid him and if he gets killed by zombies, I'll check his body for valuables scenario 2: if I have a high caliber weapon and space in my inventory, I'd put a few rounds on his head and take all his stuff, but I'm more tempted to just heal him and avoid him completely. scenario 3: I'd kill him and add the vehicle to our clan collection of vehicles.

Yeh thats right, butter away graf ;) GZ on 30k views guys. Amazing :D EDIT: It is now a fact that: - 1 server on each HIVE will be taken down. Shared HIVE was a BAD idea and gave us nothing but trouble. - Timezones will change, again to a static and ultimate setting. Not gonna change anymore. Opposite timezones was a BAD idea aswell. - We are done "testing" stuff out. It brings nothing but trouble. We will find some "standard" settings and leave it there. - In the near future we will have 1x Chernarus Expert & 1x Chernarus Veteran. Theese will NOT share HIVE. - Theese will come along soon after, but we need to get the population first: 1x Persistant Custom Map & 1x Map Cycle / Event Server. All in all, we are talking over what servers to shutdown atm. People are to scattered, we want good populated servers :) This means we have the capacity to set up some of the custom maps soon :) To be a part of this and follow it more closely, come sign up guys. We are not dying in anyway, we just went to big to fast :) So we are compressing it again and doing something else hehe. Note: This will in NO WAY involde a DB wipe or restart. We cannot move vehicles over on a shared HIVE, we would get insane amount on the server and nobody wants that really. Hive servers are not owned by the admins, the hardware may be, but the hive connection and software license belong to the Dayz team. By lending said server they agree to abide by the rules set forth by the Dayz team. Not all of the rules are clearly defined, leaving a grey area. Thats where clarification posts like this need to come into play. Intentionally bringing down a server to "safeguard" your camp, vehicles, gear etc. should not be allowed. By shutting the server down while you are sleeping you are removing an integral part of the game. Giving you and your clan immunity to raiders while you sleep. This is not how the mechanic was intended to work for obvious reasons. I would call this a loophole at best, which is why clarification is needed. Also the Dayz dev team has and maintains the right to alter server requirements as needed as players will typically always find loopholes and way around particular guidelines. While it isn't the same as locking your server, its providing a completely safe haven for the equipment you have collected. Dayz is a persistant world therefor this is not acceptable. We've had the server up and running for about 2.5 weeks now. We have 80+ vehicles on the map at all times. including 4 choppers. Right now we have a steady group of regulars around 20-25 or so. We have plenty more player slots so stop in sometime, TS as mini linked above but we also have sidechat enabled.

for exmaple go server browser search clanzones deathmatch pvp - go check! everything can be done trough mission files. EDIT: For noobs and clearence ill write here the correct workflow (tested one) and explain things out. Basic understanding of 3d space is needed, ability to rewrite mission files and understand the underlying code is necesery. This is the workflow for stock objects and stuff in Arma2 and DayZ. Tools needed: -3de_conv.exe you can find it on armaholic - pbo viewer and packer - arma 2 / dayz 1.2.6 (for playing testing) and 1.2.3 (for map editing and other stuff -any older will work too (singleplayer option still enabled)) - notepad ++ Basic workflow: Setting up open dayz 1.2.3, when you load game press alt+e to go to the editor. Choose Chernarus. Wait to load, save your clean project (save often!!!). When your in the editor, go CENTER (to add center - all defoults), add Group (should as defoult), add UNIT (playble unit, choose any survivor from the dropdown list), make it playable!! I place the Unit to where i want to work. LEts say Elektro. Now we have setup basic things, save and lets go adding stuff. If go to 3d world - you will seethat we are where we placed the UNIT - Survivor. Moving camera ASD, youll see... Learn to be confortable in editor. Adding stuff Go to Vehicles (EVERYTHING you want to place here is a VEHICLE). Click near your survivor on the 3d view in the editor and add a Structure and get one from the list you want (can be anything, some things are not working some things are broken, you have to go trough the list yourself). By default arma editor places the unit/vehicle/any object to the ground level, right click drag it round RC+CTR rotate, RC+ALT modifies hight of the object. Voila you have added you first object to the scene. Add couple more stuff around your survivor and your done. save often! You can mess in your editor as much as you want (but keep object low dont put 10000000 it will get your mission file bigger)! At the end of the proces save your mission file (single player - multi doesnt matter in this step). Quit arma. GO to you USER folder in windows, find arma 2 other profile in documents folder, there you shoud see you project folder and mission files inside. open folder with the 3dconv.exe and drag you mission file to that exe. it will create a fil which you must use in the next step. MERGING FILES Go to your server MPMISSION and copy dayz1_chernarus.pbo, extract it in your working folder. Keep your files / folder clean!! Copy that folder to the Arma2 other profiles you can actualy load dayz mission files. Open Arma2, go singleplayer > editor, load chernarus, load your mission (you created not dayz one), delete UNIT GROUP AND CENTERm save. exit to main menu. Open again SINGLE PLAYER - EDITOR, load chernarus and LOAD DAYZ1_cHERnarus (the original dayz map). Click MERGE and load your mission. CLick save and save it under diff name like dayz_cherno_edit. Quit arma. Deploying Go to you arma other profiles, and open your newly created / merged file in notepad++. Find markers, delete the ones you added, reset the item count at 5, edit class names so they fit. items=5; class Item0 etc. Save it. The open your orignal dayz mission files (the ones you extracted in your working folder not arma other profiles). replace the original mission file with your merged and edited one. Open pboViewer and repack the folder back to PBO. Upload to the server and test your game. All objects you added should be there. If you get stuck at loading - you made a typo in mission file. Weapon error? you added wepaons with missing textures or broken ones. TIPS! Learn how the editor works. go around and fiddle first! There are no custom objects in this workflow. If you want to do custom objects, learn how to model first, texture, uv map learn what format arma supports.... etc. We never work on maps layout in one file. I use few files and then merge them altogether in 2d editor. Like on PVP elektro, 1 miss file for the wall (or you can script it), 1 mission file for scenery, 1 for special stuf.. so if we work on the layout, we work on 1 part at each point in time. not on the whole thing (breaking things down to smaller parts makes the thing easier to handle and design) Be delicate with scripting in arma. missing ; can make your mission file broken and unplayble. Keep dayz mission file CLEAN!! AND : !Playtest playtest playtes! Have fun. Sry for typos.... -

Hello! My name is Austin and I've been playing Dayz for nearly too long, but that doesn't stop me. I'm currently looking for an active private hive server to settle down in, and possibly bring a few friends with me (we're not a clan, sorry, we just like to play on the same server and occasionally work together). Preferable Criteria for the private hive server: 1. Active server [More than 5-10 players on at most given times] 2. Some form of anti-cheating implimentation [Antihax, etc] 3. Not too many more vehicles than original DayZ [No specifics here] If your server also has a ventrilo, mumble, teamspeak, skype group, or other form of communication associated with it, that's a plus as well. If your server seems to meet my minimal prefered criteria, feel free to leave a post with a link to where I could potentially read more information. A few of the servers I know of are US 366, US 2737, and US 2090. The latest I have seen his hacks at work, spawning weapon crates with 200 of everything (AS50 Thermal, Satchel Charges and the works) was at 12:10 AM EST. I know he has god mode and can teleport and locate players along with vehicles. I have spotted him teleporting to people in a boat on land saying "get in". Also I have spotted him in multiple helicopters.

Here's a scenario: You are scouting the woods and notice a bandit camp. You scout around the treeline and notice a sniper sitting on a hill adjacent to your treeline watching over the camp. The camp contains a Land Rover, 3 tents, and an ATV. As you figure out a way around, you get spotted by the sniper, and he holds you up. At this point you have no primary weapon and an AS50 aimed at your head, what do you do? My thoughts: I try to zig-zag my way into the woods once more and try to take out the sniper with my secondary, quickly loot the vehicles (taking the bare essentials) and getting my ass out of there.

Fixed? Hell, double the running speed. With the complete lack of vehicles and horders/teleporters hiding them in one corner of the map it's needed. Sometimes I don't have 5 hours to spend running on day-z when I only have a couple hours to actually play and enjoy the game. Sometimes it's like a strange version of a track and field game the amount of time spent running..

I am looking for a new home for my squad, after burying hacked weapons with the last three kills I have made I am done with public servers. This request is for a high population whitelist only Chenarus server. I dont care about how many vehicles, I dont bother with them anyway, my only request is that name plates be disabled. Tonight would be great but everyone is probably playing so anytime is fine. ~Skin~

Hey guys. I am 15 (but quite mature for my age) and I have been playing DayZ avidly for about 5 months. I am interested in joining up with a medic/hero clan. I am looking for a clan of mature players who have fun playing, but at the same time can play very tactical (Nothing worse when you're in a tense situation and people won't shut up).
