    DayZ: Namalsk

I wouldn't even worry about vehicles on Namalsk, the map is so small that you're going to bring so much attention to yourself that they aren't worth it. Last night I killed 2 seperate guys who had pick up trucks
  2. Disastrical

    Do you play alone occasionally?

^This. xD Try having your driver enhance his ability at the wheel. I know Arma's original controlling of vehicles can be... challenging, but there's always a way of mastering controls. Its necessary for a person like "Kaptn" to be trusted to transport you guys and bring you where you wanna go. And its also important that you build that group strong. Always be generous to your group. Appreciate that you have friends to go with you on your travels throughout Chernarus and DayZ.

    Do you play alone occasionally?

I play with a group but there are times I like playing to myself, if you ask do I prefer to ride a vehicle with my buddies or walk on foot, I go on foot, for two reasons less likely to be shot, less likely to be killed by our vehicles driving skills. No offense Kaptn. lol
  4. The number of vehicles is of course a subject to change if the players feel like that. Unfortunately we cannot control the playstyle of other players, so we will just have to try and see how it is going to be. We wanted to recreate the old-school DayZ feeling that brought us all into the game with no overpowerd weapons, and costum loot tables. Hence the exclusion of L85 AWS and AS50. There should no longer be three FN FAL-s on every heli crash site (reduced the chance to spawn FN FAL), instead the heli crashes has chance to spawn a variety of weapons that are not in the original DayZ mod. The M107 will be in the game but it is super-rare. There are more medium-tier weapons from ARMA II OA. There is no duping (hallelujah!), none of the dupe-methods work, so there won't be 30 players armed to the teeth with every single item in the game running around. You will have to find and fight for your stuff! Clans and players are encuraged to make their own camps (please keep the hoarding to the minimum, there is no need for 3 players to have 5 vehicles). The admins are fresh spawns aswell because we want other players to feel equal. Players are free to find and repair any vehicle they wish, including the helicopters. Beware, the zombies are much more agressive here, they really are dangerous and you can easily get screwed by them. The server has backups every 30 minutes so there wll be no permanent damage if a cheater gets through the whitelisting. If you get killed by a cheater/scripter, you will get all your stuff back. So no worries there. Just contact us through PM here or on our forum (still in development).

    Base building in Standalone.

I assume any base build out in the open, in the shared world, would suffer the fate of a field tent. There are countless videos of a single guy finding a base of 5-6 tents and several vehicles, and then torching the place. Basically, few weeks of gameplay lost in a matter of minutes. Currently, the game lacks any staying/evolution/roleplaying potential. At first, you perhaps build a tiny tent camp somewhere far north, but after a week of dying and running half an hour to your tent, just to be shot again gets tedious. After that, all you do is run around cherno and elektro and have old-fashioned deathmatch. Underground bases do look like a way to go, assuming they would act as a spawn point. Think latest x-com game, you could expand your base, add various facilities (perhaps only small areas), at a very high price, involving several days of gameplay. Obviously, the first problem is manifestation of this base in shared world. Both development- and gameplay-wise. One idea is having a single point of entry, a hatch, that would use some kind of access list. The builder of this hatch/base would choose, using a dialogue, who can enter this base. It is my opinion, that this base should have actual physical manifestation. A literal space, where you could roam, and furnish, and upgrade (think the already existing air-conditioner and air-filter items), as opposed to being merely an object in the world, where the interaction with it would open an inventory, like a smaller tent. Development wise, this would probably be a nightmare to implement. Having undefined number of "underground" areas somewhere off-map, where you would get teleported after interacting with a hatch. One solution would be to define a fixed maximum sized area a base can have, and allocate for each new hatch crated in the shared world, a "slot", somewhere off the map. This would incur a server limit of bases that can exist. Other solution is to implement phasing (think world of warcraft/swtor), which would probably be impossible using only scripts. As to what the base should include, that would be storage areas and spawn point. Thats not much, but if one is going down the evolution/rpg path, it would make sense to implement mechanics such as workshops of repairing/crafting items, opening a wide array of customization options. Now I know it has been said by the devs numerous times, that this is supposed to be a survival simulation, where you dont get to craft and mod weapons, you just "pick whats laying on the ground". This is all very nice, but that has staying value of something around 1 month. After that, the game gets boring as hell, because it changes from hiking/"survival" simulator, to wide-arena deathmatch. This of course depends all on the devs, whether they are making the game for the sake of creating a quality product, or making a one-time cash burner, which you "throw away" after a month. The latter seems to be all the rage the last few years. One last point, storing vehicles. Now obviously, you could hardly stash a 10 ton truck underground, leaving the vehicles in the state that they are in now, a one time transportation. Should you wish to implement a vehicle storing solution, that has no risk of getting torched after a day, one answer is implement safe-zones (which I think were categorically dismissed), or somehow create private overground bases. Honestly, I have no idea how to solve this issue, since one excludes the other. On one hand there is the need to create a safe spot for the vehicles, where you can be confident it survives for a long period of time (at which point, server vehicle limit starts being an issue). On the other hand, you have a game that is built around openness, and denying players access to certain areas of the map contradicts the fundamental principle. Making overground private bases (the ones outside the playing arena) would look silly, vehicle and players suddenly disappearing in the middle of an empty space. Perhaps an underground garage, a virtual space for vehicles. Gameplay wise, explained as "digging a hole in the ground big enough to drive a truck into", developement wise, having a huge bunker door acting as a valet server, that spawns stored vehicles on demand. But, most likely, this will all be solved with the typical risk/reward formula, creating pseudo-bases in open space, leaving them to be ransacked by a single person. While this is by all means realistic, it may not be as entertaining to wake up and see the work you put in for a month completely reversed.

    Passive Classes

Mostly its an equation based system, its rather simple to code in and use, I have the code work worked out for it for when I start work on "A-Invasion" Since its mostly a system of scores and ratios. As for game mechanics, it fits pretty decently I think, your a survivor when you start, but the longer you survive the better you get at things, If I was to survive a zombie apocalypse you'd damn better bet I'd be getting better at setting traps, implementing security, reinforcing vehicles, and shooting things on sight. Its doesn't have to have the benefits I list, but It would allow more of a invisible bonus the player either is or isn't fully aware of when they enter the game or as they play. This system can also be used as a Random Spawn Mechanic, everyone has a past, whether they were a mechanic, a engineer, a postman, a Team leader, something, that is essentially benefitial to themselves or others if they group with others. I can see the benefit of someone saying in like a Radio-Chat - Hello, this is Ravenyellow5, I am a surviving mechanic in Kamenka, I'm wounded and need help," depending on what people need and how they operate this could be a better grouping dynamic system for the game, other than Hey I'm Ravenyellow5 Im a survive in Kamenka... which usually leads to mass murder and a lot of death.

    DayZ: Namalsk

Thanks for the great map. Myself and the guys I play with are really enjoying it, amazing the amount of detail you've put into it. BUG REPORT: Warm weather clothes are not allowing people to access vehicles to others. Example, If I am wearing the warm clothes skin, and I get into a vehicle in any position, no one can access it after until I exit. This includes any position and the gear menu. All other skins seem to function normally. Really hope you've already found a fix for this and it will be included in your next release.

    Base building in Standalone.

i dont know about encouraging teamup but i think underground bases would have people killing newbies left right & center i thin k we should be able to use the entrenching tool to make storage holes with at least 20 slots and as for bases we should be able to have an option to "set base" in a 6x6 are this would allow us to set spawn store gear and vehicles and build there also be able to fortifty it how we want
  11. This topic is for those who are in search of active, mature-enough players to play dayz maps. Little info on what we do. We make a group call in Skype, find a Vilayer server(only servers we play on), we find each other using vehicles/running/helicopters. After we get ready to hop to a more populated server to encounter more people who could be friendly or bandits. From there gentlemen whatever happens, happens. We do not joke around shooting each other, if you do so, you will be looked down upon, and if continued, will be killed and blocked from Skype. We encourage more players who are experienced, so finding each other won't be a hassle when dealing with new comers. Also if you have a really annoying kid voice, we will block you from the start. Typical regular maps we play on frequently: Chenarus, fullujah, lingor, namalsk, zargabad Requirements: 18+ must have Skype all maps downloaded or will be downloaded must live within 1-3 hour time zones from PST if you have any other questions feel free to send me a message on here or skype my skype username mdmiked
  12. It's a mod of a what? A game. Which makes it a what? A GAME.. I don't expect things to be perfect. But, obviously temperature and illness are an important factor in the GAME and if it's not working right, there's a serious problem with the GAME. Now that's been covered, an update: Internet back on and yep... I logged back in and found myself in the middle of the street with no vehicle and no backpack. Since it's gone, here's the full story. Was doing a nighttime run of the hospitals in search of antibiotics (found none - surprise, surprise) and was on my way back to camp. On the coast road just north of Electro, I came across a tent by the side of the road. A nice idea, I thought... If you die, perhaps you can be lucky and find something in it. So, being a Good Samaritan, I thought to stock it up. I emptied my coyote pack and put it in the UAZ, grabbing the Czech pack I had stored and put a shotgun with ammo, a heatpack, some food and drink inside. I then stored all these, the weapon, ammo, food and pack in the tent. I then went back to the UAZ and was getting my coyote pack back out of the gear when the Internet went out. So, my pack, like my NV goggles and GPS the last time I lost a connection while gearing up, was likely sucked into the ether by the disconnect. But DayZ life goes on. Hoofing it back to camp. Honestly, it's not a horrible situation. Fortunately for me, the day I fiund and fixed the UAZ was a great day in that I saw two other abandoned vehicles that day - the bus and the Off-road pickup (which I came back for). So, when I get back to camp, I still have a vehicle. I'm out a vehicle, some wheels, window glass, fuel tank parts, a PDW, and the one that hurt the most - some M9SD ammo. But such is life. And I will never drive a vehicle when there's a strong likelihood my Internet will go out - like during a hurricane. Lesson learned - haha! On with the GAME!
  13. We'll incorporate all those in. Im at work, new vehicles will be added this afternoon. If you guys have any requests please let me know.
  14. Vehicles have been tweaked down a bit, also fixed some duplication problems.
  15. PLUS MANY MORE NEW LOCATIONS. Join today and settle in
  16. Yeah, I just see bandits as more of the person that kills and steals, heroes can only loot bandit corpses without losing humanity. And as for stat tracking, I never have debug on, so I don't care. I find reward in the rare items I find and the vehicles I have (Call me materialistic) having a "tangible" useful reward suits my tastes better. A global leaderboard would give people like me more of a reason to stat tracking.
  17. Anyway to access the backups directly, or restore individual players, or just the vehicles? I've had players get glitched or hacker killed and all I can do is either: a) nothing B) give them some supplemental gear, which isn't really fair. I would like to be able to go into the backups and restore a player individually if that is in anyway possible. (Even just the files would be nice, as I'm fine working within the database.)
  18. So im putting together a smallish group of experienced, mature DAYZ players who want to fight together as an organized team. You MUST know the map, know how the game works and pull your own role in the squad. I have a base set up with weapons, gear, vehicles and pretty much everything. To gain access to the base you have to earn my trust first. Communication is done via steam or TS. The group will operate in certain roles. Of course you dont need to play one role 24/7, but you should have one that we cant count for you to fill when we go looting/pvp etc. Well split into a sniper-team and a fire team. Roles are as follows. Driving, looting and supplying will be done by all. Sniper (Sniper-team): Provide sniper support and covering fire from long-range with powerful snipers. Spotter (Sniper-team): Spot for the sniper, provide cover when needed, protect the sniper with medium range weapons (DMR, L85, M16 ACOG, M14..) Medic (Fireteam): Carry medical supplies, heal injured team-mates. Any weapon you feel comfortable with. Support (Fireteam): Carry a LMG, provide covering fire, mow down zeds and enemies. Also carry extra ammunition for squad mates. Assault (Fireteam): In the middle of action, kill zeds and players, LOOT LOOT LOOT. Preferably some kind of assault rifle. To join you must be ATLEAST 16, live in the EU or atleast have good ping on EU servers and experienced. If your intrested leave a PM or message me on steam. In the message you should have: - Name or whatever you want to be called and dayz name: - Age: - Do you have skype and TS: - How experienced you are: - What role you would like to play/play best (Sniper, spotter, medic, support, assault): - Something funny ? ;) EDIT: Also im only looking for one player to fill every role. So well be a group of six (maybe 2 assault). :)

    chopper problem

Try to repair it with Fuel Tannk parts. Sometimes vehicles Eats some parts without repairing them.
  20. Me and my friend have been playing on DE 1632 server. It seems to be down for now but will it get back online? we had many vehicles and guns and we dont want to lose them all..
  21. the mod is a cheat itself..its pile of scripts that changed the game, added items on the floor.vehicles ai and all other stuff..there is nothink devs can deal with scripters untill standalone
  22. well admin can see basically most of the stuff in the server . this kinda ruins it really as they can spawn vehicles go straight to them or see where others have stored theres . it kinda makes getting anyithng and keeping it pointless if the person who runs server just checks and can take it. i know it can be useful against hackers but basically the whole survival thing is basically not going to work in the long term as admins know where everything is anyway, most servers are run by groups and these have the power to dominate while you play. not sour grapes i just dont get why you would let people have such an advatange over other players. will this be changed for the standalone ? hopefully it is as most server are exactly as above .
  23. New server now online! Lots of vehicles! Active Admins! Safe zone! just filter for New Haven or: DayZ Bliss (v1.7.2.6) - New Haven - 24/7 - Hosted by LewisUKTV
  24. Lee-Vilayer, I (and I'm sure a lot of other people as well) would like to know what happened with the DayZ Planet Hive over the last couple of days (October 17-18, 2012.) Yes, it's all pixels. Yes, it's just a game. Yes, it's just a mod. But seriously, what happened? Because myself and a lot of other people lost hours of time invested in playing. I logged off and went to bed with multiple helicopters and vehicles fixed up and parked at an established base (on the Fallujah Map.) I wake up and can't log in. After roughly a full day we're given an emergency code update and when we log back in everything we had just spent many hours of gameplay to put together was gone. Tents, gone. Gear, gone. Vehicles, gone. Helicopters, gone. And no idea when they (the vehicles and helicopters) will respawn on the map. The only thing my character(s) have is the gear they logged off with. And, quite frankly, I have several pissed off players on my servers because of this, and I can't say I blame them. Can we eventually work it out and get our stuff back? Certainly, but that doesn't fix the lack of trust my players now have in DayZ Planet. It would have been nice to at least see a post on the forums advising us of a major glitch and what to expect. If this wasn't a DayZ Planet issue then I apologize. However, that's what I was told by my server company rep ... that DayZ Planet had glitched and caused this problem. So, please, enlighten us. Regards, DrainBamaged
