Thank you Mikewhiskey, as long as the directions were followed at http://dayz.ddz.net there should be no issue getting you in. We run the server well we think. We have added vehicles, with a good chance of damage and almost no fuel at spawn to make it harder to just hop in and go. Right now we have tweaked the server to have 3 helicopters, but will NOT spawn any more until all are gone. This makes for some interesting warfare lately. And we have added the Bliss add-ons of Wrecks and Care Packages. It is a nice mix of things in our opinion. The sidechat has been turned on since it is not being abused and allows for a friendly comradarie between groups of players. We will welcome you and others that wish for the same. -

A long time ago I got this gun and was told it would explode vehicles in no time, but ended up not playing before getting to test it. But today we got back on and came across some boats and I had 4 boxes of ammo so I was like "I'm gonna shoot those boats." 60 shots later and nothing. I've been lied to.

Hey guys, Well Today I would like to invite you to our server that my friend has hosted. It's pretty much your basic, average Veteran, private-hive server. There are no unfair advantages(ie: You won't be hundreds of cars or RPGs sitting in Cherno/ Spawning w/ a weapon) for players to climb their way to the top of the food chain. The server currently has 30 vehicles approx. and we plan to keep it that way. We like to base things off of a real / RP environment, considering we are based off a GTA IV PC RP Community that has recently closed down for the time being. We want to keep it a fun relaxed environment for anyone who joins... though, it is DayZ, so that's never going to happen and we all know that. vehicle customisation would be kinda intuitive,m scrap metal to armour up your engine bay, doors windows etc, as well as fitting a GPS to the dash also, i agree with what seems to be the current consensus, that vehicles should be everywhere (they wouldn't just vanish after the infection), and not always totally boned (except for helis, which would need parts AND TIME to fix up to being workable, but should need a green engine to run for more than a few minutes, good tyres to go off road. then make fuel teh hard thing to find, after all, the oil rigs won;t be churning the crap out of teh earth wil they? and the fuel depo should be a good spot to look for some (but probably crawling with bandits/hijackers), relying on either group raids to fill up oil tankers (from which jerry cans can be filled) and keep safely tucked inside a cozy base, far away from bandits, where you can sell it onto desperate survivors for their beans/ammo/valuables ("ill fill your hilux for you, good sir, if you give me a can of mountain dew" :D) then make a wide range of civilian vehicles, with realistic gear capacities (proportional to the size of the boot, so a huey won't actually have that much room, but a pickup would have LOADS), and watch the carnage at the fuel depot as for the fuel depot, im thinking of a large walled complex, with one wide entrance for tankers/vehicles at the front, and a couple of smaller ones round the perimiter for hiking survivors to sneak in through to the main loading bay, where you can get access to limited fuel (regenerates slowly, but can hold loads) the fuel in the tank slowly regenerates (probably enough to fuel half of what we want to use), and EVERY time fuel is taken out, its lost from the tank the tankers should be about 3-4 per server, hold an insane amount of fuel in the back (as much as you can find basically), but slow to drive, and would need armouring on teh tanks to protect from sadistic bandits ("that's alot of fuel you have there, now watch it come out of my 50 calibre hole onto the road!") (note a hole at the top of teh tanker should set its maximum fuel level to drain at the top, but a hole at the bottom would drain it empty) also, vehicles everywhere should spawn with a little bit of fuel (except for broken fuel tanks) which can be siphoned off using a jerry can and a hosepipe at the risk of ingesting toxic petrol/diesel (lets just assume that either one will make you VERY ill) or with a hand pump (rare find) and jerry for safer extraction -

Zombies zombies zombies. Rocket has said this at some point. There is so much going on in the back round when zombies spawn for you with their ai and such, add to that all the crap going on in servers, vehicles etc and fps take a dive even on high end stuff. The condition of the server can have a lot to do with it too, my fps will plumit to 15-20 in big towns on some servers and others not. [email protected] 6950. The sa zombies will be much more simple I would think hopefully improving frame rates. -

Server Just Hit 40/40 Again! 2 Days In A Row, Really Appreciate You Guys Choosing To Play On My Server. I'm Glad All The Work My Server Team And I Have Done To Edit Parameters, Adding Vehicles, Air Vehicles, And Other Server Additions Is Being Enjoyed By The Community. Our Hard Work Didn't Go To Waste After All. -
Everyone says up North or along the West Side, but that's the first place I look. If your server has multiple Heli's, don't pitch more than two tents in 1k m of each other... keep mid/large size vehicles atleast 500m from the tents. Atleast the person won't find your tents and vehicles in one spot.... I love people that do this.. I will switch the contents between the tents and vehicles to screw with people... ATVs, Motorcycles and Bikes... EASY TO HIDE :) The Bike is the most under rated... No Gas and Auto Fixes if you have a tool box :) ATV/Motorcycles are hard to notice from the air.... plus they fit in alot of buildings.... Don't be afraid to hide tents and small vehicles in towns :) NOW, if someone has the time.... No base is safe.........................

Crowbar, useful in scavenging parts from wrecked vehicles.

This would be a far more appropriate use of the crowbar. To scavenge (usable!) parts from vehicles you need a bunch of tools. Usually when I resort to the crowbar while working on cars I break something =P I love the premise of the idea; scavenge parts from other vehicles to fix up another one. I just think you should use a tool kit instead of a crowbar. -

It is great so see more and more people joining this server. It is a very easy going server and then if you want to have some fun just turns fast paced out of no where. Love all the vehicles and the area they operate is advertised making it easy to avoid or to try out my luck. Thanks for the fun time this has been so far cant wait to get back on now. -
good plan, I always leave one or two less well hidden decoy tents near enough to my well hidden tents to grab passers by attention but in a spot that takes them away from the real booty, also leave some half decent stuff in them so they feel satisfied and move on, hopefully missing the real prize. I also park vehicles i've used to get back to camp right in front of my main tents (back end out), it completely hides the tents from view and players just take the vehicle happy with their spot of good fortune. Diverting attention is everything, good luck and have fun

Private servers and "official" servers

Easy way? Log in, see if you still have your character. That said, I vastly prefer private hives. Aside from the lessened presence of hackers and the like, private hives eliminate server hopping and greatly reduce combat logging as well. As an added benefit, most generate an actual 'community', as in you'll see someone you may have met before and know you can trust/know they've murdered someone else, and so on. Just some things to think on, I find private hives to be much more of an 'oldschool' DayZ experience than regular hive ever could hope to be now, but I've been playing since May so that's the experience I'm trying to recapture. Edit: Most private hives I've played on have had essentially the standard ruleset. There are of course some with sidechat enabled, some with tons more vehicles than normal, and other things... but most of those indicate as such in the name. -
Mhm... Thanks guys, I appreciate it. The server is a Private Hive, US 1011, it's a really nice server, vehicles everywhere, no lag and custom bases. I'll make a huge base, with empty vehicles and then I'll hide some tends or vehicles with weapons and another items, around it, but VERY hidden. Thanks a lot.

I recently upgraded my server to 1.7.3 and we have noticed a few bugs in the server which are rather evil. Firstly, some vehicles tend to not save or wipe their gear occasionally, but not all the time. We loaded up a hilux 2 days ago with a load of gear and restarted the server. After the first restart the gear was there but after the second, it was gone. This has also happened with 1 tent once, but it hasn't happened since. With the tent not saving, we deployed 2 at the same time and put gear in both, then saved them both at the same time but only 1 kept the gear so something random is happening... Another thing i have noticed with 1.7.3 is when you crash a heli Battleye kicks you for a script restriction (#36 "[this] spawn BIS_Effects_AirDestruction"), this has actually saved my life twice so far since the game doesn't tell the hive you have died (or even that the heli has exploded, just that it has damage) Last night was the strangest of all though. The previous nights the vehicles have always saved their position even if they hadn't saved the gear, but after a server restart this morning their positions had reset. This includes a heli that i had crashed into the airfield, it had respawned back at camp with the damage done in the crash but all its gear intact. Is the hive just ignoring my server occasionally or are these known bugs?

Respawn times of vehicles have been shortened for public hive. This should solve a lot of the destroyed vehicles issues etc. As for hacking, we're always improving stuff. -

I guess my favorite would be Lingor Island, it has a good balance. If Chernarus had more vehicles it'd be the best. Maps I dont typically like to play though Utes, Takistan, Zargabad.
