Creating 'The Spartans' clan/group. Anybody interested...

My vision of The Spartans is a small clan, roughly 12 people split into 4 teams (HQ, Alpha squad, Bravo squad, Delta squad). HQ will be in command and Alpha squad would be in control on the field, bravo second and Delta third. HQ will usually consist of myself and one other person, Alpha squad will consist of two people, one a sniper and the other an observer/rangefinder/field oberserver/squad leader (will be in control of field operations), Bravo and Delta group will consist of four people each (further broken down into pairs) who will receive battle orders and information from Alpha and perform the close quarters combat/looting. Obviously from this description I take this serious! The main reason I want to do this is for the DayZ standalone, where it will be very beneficial to have a tight knit group that works seamlessly together (well, if they include radios, more vehicles, underground camps, dogs etc.) If you would like to apply simply leave expressions of interest on this thread and we will arrange a DayZ gaming session. (Please only apply if you have a microphone, live within a couple of timezones of 10+GMT, play more than 10 hours a week and a fast internet connection) -

**Hive is back up and running, character data is saving again** Not all character data was wiped, a lot of players data will remain as it was before the hacking. Also theres no need for me to wipe the vehicles, a new vehicle manager tool is being released which fixes the new vhicles not spawning, and the cleanup scripts should work correctly again :) -

I've gone back to playing on offical builds. So, as far as I'm concerned,,,,yes modified Privat Hives (in general) are making the game-play to easy and take away from the survival element of the game. In fact the two, cannot be compared. if you want more vehicles and all, go play Wasteland. EDIT: Namalsk is aiming at the hard core survival aspect, so is something else altogether. -

I love private hives and their custom maps, but I vaguely remember Rocket said he would allow them as long as they don't change his vision of the mod. Nowadays we can find private hives offering 500+ vehicles, fully repaired vehicles, "epic bases", custom load outs, new weapon sets, and all sorts of other things that completely change his original vision. These seem a million miles from the survivor lost on a beach with meagre supplies, not to mention that Rocket's vehicles must all be repaired from scratch, offering a sense of achievement if and when you finally accomplish this. Now I can go to a custom hive and jump straight into a fully working gunship, or go to Celle and find an MK48 Mod 0 in a barracks with copious ammo. The mod and hive community seems to have overtaken Rocket and implemented all sorts of fantastic things. The way it's going they're probably going to end up putting in alot of the same and/or better features than the standalone will have. With all this, there is no reason to go to Rocket's Chernarus - unless they are custom Chernarus hives that offer all of the aforementioned. -
Number of vehicles on standard game servers

Yup, I've played on some servers that have 80 vehicles and thought that amount was rediculously too much but the next gen kiddies seem to want easy mode and have 200+ vehicles that spawn already fixed up and 5+ heli's that they think they know how to fly(on autohover). -

These are very real issues. Its something that I would like to know is on the table for the standalone. Maybe a good portion of players dont use vehicles, but I know how to run, and my fingers are "very" tired of holding down the damn "W" button. All jokes aside, please work on the vehicle mechanics for the stand alone. -

Sorry guys Hacker got the server and ported all the vehicles to one spot. I have restored a backup. Vehicles are back in place. If he killed you your body should be back. -
Here's the story. My bro and I will be renting a server for the long haul. Eventually it will be a pass worded private hive However to get it rolling we are thinking about doing "thanksgiving thrash" to get it all rolling. The basic premise... Spawn with good weapons, have lots of cars that are easily accessible and go on a rampage! It will be a small map or Chernarus with people heavily encouraged to fight in a main city. Hopefully DAYZ PVP at its finest. UPDATE!!!! Server will be open at 7:30 pm PST tonight! SERVER name - dayz.wickedgamer.com 24/7 daylight 100+ vehicles Server IP - 50.115.124.92 port : 2342 We hope that many people will join and it will be a blast. There are a TON of vehicles on the server. They have been placed heavily near the spawn points and in and around chenarus. You spawn with...... MP5 with 3 clips A revolver A blood bag A morphine injector Food Drink Map And some other random items. We are hoping for some crazy PVP action In chen, At 3pm PST this Saturday thanksgiving thrash will come to an end. The server at that point will become more of a vanilla server and spawn and starting loot put back to normal. The server DB may or may not be wiped at this time. SO BE WARNED YOUR LOOT MAY BE LOST. The focus of this is event it to cause havoc not squirrel away gear. Also at this time the person with the most PVP kills will be declared the winner. When the server is returned to normal opperation the winner will receive.............. The Black SUV 1 weapon of their choice (must be DAY permitted) 1 Side arm of their choice 1 tent 1 GPS 1 Compass 1 NV googles Please note that the prizes are a one time thing. You lose them they are gone. The winner has 2 days from the time the winner is announced. After the two days the runner up will be awarded the prizes. Thats it! lets play.

Taviana is twice as big as Chernarus ? I have to try this map ! It must be immense ! Icebreakr's maps - Lingor, Panthera - have that ridiculous bug with the single doors in his new barrack huts being too small for the player to fit through unless he goes prone !! The people are much friendlier on Lingor, Panthera, Namalsk etc due to there being no shortage of resources or vehicles to compete over. I wish Namalsk was bigger too. And had more food or animals to kill. Otherwise you only have enough food to get from Vorkuta to Object AII and back repeatedly. And the Eastern side of the island needs developing more as it is empty save for a hospital and supermarket. But if you look at the new features for Namalsk 0.70 (http://mydayz.de/en/dayz-news/209-dayz-namalsk-0-70-preview you realize how inventive Sumrak is. He is way ahead of Rocket at implementing things like temperature, breath, and other survival features.

There will always be a decent amount of players playing the public hives. Do you really think you are one of the few people with that opinion? LOADS of people prefer public to private. And there's a difference between server variables and forced rules. Increased vehicles is fine, because it doesn't force someone to play in a certain manner, but outruling PvP is a completely different story. Of course, that's up to them, but it's also up to me what I think of them, and whether or not I express it. -

This gun is hardly a sniper. It's range ends around 400 meters, and is very tricky to aim properly at that range. It can be used to snipe, but you could hide out in obscure spots with a generic AK and snipe just the same. You people will always complain no matter what, get with reality and realize that it's not the gun that kills people, it's the douchebag that hides in a third story window for twenty minutes until you walk by that kills you, and those types of players will always exist, even if we only had hatchets to attack one another with. Hide around a corner in the dark and jump out at you. It's not the guns, it's the playstyle some people choose. Stop bitching and ruining the gameplay for the rest of us because you can't conform to a reality of FPS's. I do agree that in a game like DayZ, having anti material sniper rifles that shoot from 1600 meters and two shots most vehicles is a tad overkill though. :)

Here are some more ideas: Vehicle: -Ability to flip over an ATV -Ability to flip over a motorbike -Ability to place ATV's and motorbikes in the back of a ural / pickup truck etc. -Spare tire on the back of a UAZ becomes a usable tire that can be taken off and used -Bumps and mounds are glitched and sometimes completely flip over vehicles very easily, including buses. -Fix "looking" around (Alt) when going down a steep hill. -Ability to salvage parts from other cars. Drive by a car with nice windscreen glass or one working tire? Hop out and take it off for your own vehicle. Taking parts off takes twice as long than putting them on. Player: -Ability to tell if someone is a bandit or hero through camo or ghillie. The black mask on the ghillie is replaced with the bandit scarf thing and for hero it's a flannel print. For camo clothing, bandits have their bandit scarf on the head, and for hero, the shirt underneath the vest is flannel print. Items: -New: tire spike. Very rare, found in industrial buildings, take up two inventory spaces. Placed wherever you want and when a car drives directly over it, ruins the tire(s) it hit(s). -New: tire spike strip. Extremely rare, found in military buildings only. Takes up six inventory slots. Spans six meters in diameter (or whatever the size of a road is), can cover an entire road. Ruins the tire(s) it hit(s). -New: steering wheel club. Extremely rare, found in industrial buildings, takes up two inventory spaces. Spawns with Key that takes up one inventory slot in the tools section at the bottom. Used by entering a vehicle in the drivers seat, and mouse wheel scrolling for (Place steering wheel club). Either a) all keys can unlock all steering wheel clubs or B) all keys have a unique ID to that steering wheel club however the steering wheel club can be destroyed to balance it.

my tale of sidechat idiocy... the server i picked had side chat. so you could hear people talk. mind you everyone on the server can hear it. one guy mentions where he is. another says he will team up with him. says he has a pickup truck. i grab an aks real fast. love the holo sight on that. get some quick gear in neighboring city i make my way towards this pair who has been broadcasting their intentions to the entire world. sure, it could be a trap. whatever, i will take it. as i am running towards the city i see a lot of movement ahead of me. there is a guy with a revolver running down the highway with a pack of zombies behind him. he spots me and runs towards me. i head towards the treeline. he is still moving towards me. son of a bitch. 'those are your zombies, dude.' i say aloud to nobody. i pull the aks to my shoulder and drop two of them with a pair of bursts. i then realize my ammo vs number of zombies is not favorable at all. one burst to the running man's legs has them broken and the rest of the zombies surrounding him and eating his tender meat. sorry, dude. i walk by without them paying note at all. ah, brilliant! i join the voice channel and say that 'such in such just shot at me and i killed him.' everyone previously saw the death message. the pair of buddies are all like 'you are close to us. join.' there is something about them that i trust. and they seem to trust me. sure enough we meet up. they have a pickup. both guys are armed decently. one of them even gives me a blood transfusion. we gather a bunch of gear to fix this other pickup they have found. the entire time they are talking on the side channel. i keep typing messages that are only seen by them only. i keep reminding them that they keep giving away our position and mentioning how much ammo they have. they keep talking about the now two vehicles we have. it was really getting on my nerves. so, i decide to do it. i offer to drive one truck alone. they get into the other together. i make sure i have a full mag in the aks. and over the voice channel i ask 'who wants to die first?' i hear laughter from others on the server and i empty the magazine. 30 rounds later the windshield is shattered and there are two dead bodies. that bit of work taken care of i consolidate all the gear into the one truck, toss a grenade into the one with the dead bodies and drive away.

Plus, anyone with half a brain can get Taviana up and running without DC. It's fairly simple, esp. with that member-made how-to video (sorry, don't have the name or link, but kudos--or beans in this case) Then find servers and launch it with DC like normal. The only reason I'd like DC to add it is to spread popularity, so that more servers become available. The only reason anyone has heard of it is because of Frankie's video, IMO. As long as they are thought through and complete, I welcome any new maps, esp. if they introduce new vehicles or weapons or gear.--it was only Chernarus for so long, all the sniper spots, and even trees, have names. -

I've read countless suggestion, which I do agree with, but people are going above and beyond, when suggesting items into the game. For example: Car damage/fixing: Have tool box (be able to pick different tools from the toolbox) Carburator, Door handler, piston, battery, radiator, fuel line, and much, much more Refueling with refuel pump, cord, etc. 3 types: diesel, jet fuel and gasoline Guns maintnance: Gun maintnance kit Cleaning oil cloth strip different weapon parts Really guys, can you imagine adding all of that stuff, you wont be able to have a proper working gun or car and you will have full backpack's all the time. Dont take me wrong, I love your ideas, but adding 50 items per idea, will make the game into: loot more, play less. In my, truly honest, suggestion. For most of these items, att a "general kit": Tool box - Will have everything for fixing any vehicles, placing/removing barb wire, etc, just like it is right now Gun Maintance Kit - Make it with a 3 use only, no need for oil, cloth etc. Fishing pole and bait - no need for different parts of a pole and baits Radios - yes radios to talk, but no need to have 5 types of radio. It's already hard to find tools, can you imagine you find an UHF radio and your friend has a VHF? Vehicles parts - There are already plenty and is pretty hard to fix one, as we relly on random spawn of those parts, maybe adding 1 or 2 more parts would be acceptable, but adding like 10 more parts, you wont make a car work in the first month of the game. Sorry, but I'm butthurt and this is my 2c -

Teleporting invisible hacker on EvilFuckers server

The server is a private hive server it doesn't have a country and a number to identify, you will find it by typing EvilFuckers into the server. At 23:37 GMT+0 My friend was killed ontop of elektro outer firestation while i was inside, so i was running round looking for the killer, then i saw a bleeding guy running around and his nametag, which was MrMBarbedWire, he shot me then i saw in side chat that he had been teleporting round shooting everyone else. He then went round teleporting everyone who respawned to a little space in the woods full of vehicles which he continued to spawn in, and soon after left the server. I just hopped on a motorbike and drove as far away as i could then logged out. -

I will be resetting all vehicles the morning of 01.12.2012, this should fix the issues with new vehicles not spawning, and it should start spawning the newly added Land Rover / Bi-plane, etc take your stuff from your vehicles tonight otherwise you will loooose it! -
Hello! Some friends and I just bought a new server, and we'd like to have people come play in it! We have a custom load out right now, and our having our server hosted by DayZ.ST. We have active admins, and 100 vehicles currently. We're new to owning servers on DayZ, but not owning servers in general. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to speak with us about them. The Address for the server is: 50.115.124.92:2600 We also have a teamspeak server running, which anyone is free to join if they'd like. You can get the teamspeak server address when you join the server; there will be a message giving the information. The map is currently Namalsk, we're looking to change it once Taviana is released for usage by our server company. We welcome PVP, and we welcome new players! If you need a hand learning, just ask one of our admins for help. The server location is USA, Utah, Salk Lake.
