  1. Hello DayZ forums. I have some questions which I really need answering. Can I host my own private hive server? - This means like port-forwarding, turning on the server only while the run.bat or whatever is running instead of paying money each month for server which I won't use all the time. Can I spawn things in on a private hive as an Owner/Admin? - Such as spawning vehicles, weapons and equipment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank-you for answering these questions. If you could give as much information as possible including links that would be awesome.

    SUV

    Other than the fact it has incredible on and offroad capabilities compared to any of the standard vehicles and it's incredible quiet for its size. The only downside to the SUV is it's a little big so it can be awkward to conceal but beisdes that it has everything... AMAZING on road speed, good offroad, quiet engine, very resilient, good item capacity, good seating capacity, good fuel capacity.

  7. I know a lot of work is going to be done in the standalone, but... I would love to suggest humanity changes, that are sort of "class-esque" if you will. Let's start with the basics. Right now there are only a few distinct advantages to NOT being a bandit: 1: Survivors generally may not fire at you upon first sight. 2: The hero skin.I'm not saying I want to change this to get rid of banditry, as I feel that's a prime aspect of the game, but I do feel that there needs to be more incentive than wearing a sexy plaid shirt to becoming a hero. Looking at this, I am also going to suggest changes to the bandit system in general. There need to be certain perks per status that give people a reason to play a certain way, opposed to simply running around haphazardly, shooting at errbody, dying and repeating. Bandit: First off, I would love to see a change in the bandits. It shouldn't just happen that you are labelled a bandit by the skin, but rather if you become one you get certain perks such as maybe 10-20% movement noise decrease. Possible perks could also include more accurate gunfire after running (less sway, I guess), less kick in guns and ect. I would need more time to think of more, but I wanted to spit this stuff out before I forgot : ) Along with these perks, however, come a set of cons such as decreased blood or decreased gain in blood from foods. Maybe a decrease in the amount of time it takes for your food and water meters to go down (though this seems a bit harsh possibly). Another is that due to the nature of your position (being a bandit, killing and ect) that you become sick easily, or gain some sort of small mental illness from killing so many people, pass out occasionally from shell shock or ect. Hero: This is the real issue that needs overhauled. Just like the bandit "class," the hero "class" would have many pros and cons as well as the bandit. Perhaps increase blood-count (not by a lot, but significant enough to make them harder to kill perhaps). Increased sensory (hearing others) perception, self-blood bagging ability or more blood gained from food and others could be included. Downfalls could possibly be easier weapon jamming (you aren't so trigger happy opposed to bandits), you're louder in general (opposite bandits), and certain weapons (axes or pellet shot) cannot be used against humans (as it is not humane). There could be a con where if you are not regularly in a group (not sure how this could be accomplished in the engine lol) that you become lonely, and get sick/hurt/ect more easily. Other Possibilities: I would also love to see multiple classes in the game other than these two. Perhaps it can be gained by performing other skills, such as salvaging or hunting and ect in which repeatedly doing these things increases the rate of return, benefit amount and other things. Perhaps a salvaging bonus (which would perhaps turn you into a salvage OPPOSED to Hero or Bandit) would allow you to use old broken down cars for repair parts for working vehicles. Perhaps there could be a mechanic class in which only parts (no toolbox) are needed to repair vehicles, or many of the blown out vehicles in the streets can be repaired by them while A LOT of scrap metal, or something similar. This could easily provide a larger depth to the standalone, and create many possible opportunities for players to work together in different ways to gain something, opposed to just being able to essentially do anything on your own (hold the blood) with almost no repercussions.
  8. Well hello there, first off i'm new to this forum so excuse every mistake i might make right now. So well, today i've been watching Frankie's newest DayZ Video, then again who dosen't. Long story short, in his video i noticed several new weapons for DayZ, like the G36C, AK107 & M40A3 so my question is, are these weapon server sided or map sided? I also noticed in EP.21 there was a Mk12 SPR in so that could of been server sided, so if these weapons are server sided, do you know any server that runs them (Europe)? And before you ask why i don't go check it out myself? Well 1. Its probably High Grade Millitary Loot and hard to find & 2. I'm a lazy fuck. Thanks in advance! PS.: Yes i know there is a mod called rMod for DayZ which adds nearly all Weapons & Vehicles from ARMA2 to the game, but i dont have the feeling this is the one.

    ADR- The "After death replay", like in Civilization.

    I like the idea, and I have often wished for something a little bit like this, but just a line on the map showing where you went. A little worm crawling across Chernarus, hitting the hot spots and terminating in a big red X would be enough for me, but if it had little icons for significant events, like eating, drinking, bandaging, killing zombies, getting hurt, receiving transfusions, getting in/out of vehicles, that sort of thing, it would be even more entertaining. No reason for it to include information about other players, but here's my pie-in-the-sky addendum: Let the utility load multiple replay files at once. Assuming they're timestamped and flagged by what server you were on, you could have your whole clan, adversarial teams, or even the server admin submit multiple replay files to the same replay, allowing you to view, in retrospect, everything that was going on the whole session. Aftermath of fights, near misses, ad hoc alliances, all would be revealed by the replay. Just the other day I had a fight with two bandits. I got the drop on them and killed one. I wounded the other, but someone died way across the map right at that moment, so I thought I had gotten them both. I didn't verify the kills, so for the next hour this guy was crawling along behind me, using his binocs and his wits to keep up with me as I scouted for chopper wrecks, until he finally got me in his sights as I came out of a barn. How epic would those two intersecting lines on the map be if you could watch both stories unfold at once?

    DayZmeets Wasteland

    Building structures should be fabulously difficult and costly, either in terms of resources or time. If you had to log in for twenty minutes and be exposed and largely stationary to erect a sandbag wall, or have a team or eight guys working on a wooden barricade for ten straight minutes, that would feel about right. Give each structure a progress bar, and let people work on it like Clonks or SCVs, so you can't just plant a barracks like it's a tomato plant and wait for it to warp in. As with vehicles, make it tough and expensive to build structures, but cheap and easy to damage or destroy them.

    I play on a server with 85 or so vehicles, and I rarely see one, because they're all hoarded up in the lousy woods. I'd rather see a server with a normal number of behicles but a 24-hour timer to reset them, so if you don't use a vehicle for a day, it gets dropped back at its normal spawn point. A team would have no trouble maintaining and keeping a vehicle or two, and a solo player could fix one up and drive it around all weekend, but you can't have a Ural parked in your Pobeda campsite all week so you can use it on Saturday and Sunday to store the chopper loot you collect with your motorcycle. Also, bicycles should get reset every time the server restarts.

    Player Classes

    Class selecting isn't something I'd like to see. If you want a feature like this you'd have it achieved by experience. (eg. designate someone in the group your mechanic and have him do every repair etc. on your vehicles and the more he does the more experience he'll have in the matter. Same for a medic or a soldier.) In saying that, I don't want to see xp bars or any type of grinding either. It's a hard thing to implement while still keeping balance and the accurate experience DayZ offers.

    DayZ is now way too hard for noobs

    I never said you had to be part of a group to survive, I merely said there are plenty of "zombie avoidance" guides and such that exist, and that my clan, and I use that term very loosely, has a mentoring program that helps teach new players how to survive on their own. For a long while I played entirely alone and learned the game on my own when it was still in a state similar to this (no starting gun etc.) and sure it was a bit rough, but I rose to the challenge and thrived on my own. Even now that I'm a part of TMW I still find myself being self sufficient; getting my own supplies and finding and maintaining my own vehicles, not relying on having an overwatch before entering a hotspot. It is definately doable and you'll figure it out if you go into it with the right mindset. If the no starter gun really bothers you, trust me, you're better off unarmed than holding a Makarov. Once you get a feel for the loot spots you can find a hatchet within the first 5 minutes, and that's being generous. From there, just look for barns and deerstand and you'll have a nice starter rifle to defend yourself with. I still wouldn't kill zeds with them though, shooting them just gets you killed in the end. If you really want to survive with no help at all, then be my guest. It is extremely possible and most of us have done it to some degree. After a week or two of playtime you'll laugh at how easy zombies are to deal with and how easy it is to find any gun at all.

We are a clan based around fun in the game, and the last private server we went on we defeated every clan in a head on fire-fight without casualties so were pretty damn good as well Although we don't take the game as serious as others (For example we wear Brave-heart skins and play music while driving around in our vehicles) we do try our best to survive. We play Frankie style - don't shoot on sight, hold people up, don't kill bambi's, but kill armed bandits. We have an active teamspeak server: teamcats.teamspeak3.com You will require an interview to become member just to verify that you have the following specifications to join: - Have a microphone - Over 13 years of age - Less than 300 ping on Australian/New Zealend servers. - Follow the servers rules - Don't give us a bad name You can join by either posting here, or joining the teamspeak and poking an admin. They will have (Admin) next to there name.

    day z needs more vehicles!

    IMHO, it creates some new tactical considerations. I like the speed and mobility, but I might stash the vehicle so I can approach on foot with stealth. Or I might want to roll in fast, get what I need, and roll out. Personally I'd rather find the occassional working vehicle and maintain it than have to spend days scrounging up the parts. But that's me. I work and only have a few hours every couple of days to play. I agree too many is stupid. I just joined one server with 1400 vehicles. Balota Airfield looked like the entire 82nd Airborne Division was deployed there. Except all of the helicopters were broken. Plus the server was super laggy. So I basically shot a bandit in the face and logged off.

    Legit DayZ

    Come on over and visit the LegitDayZ server! Friendly faces, Bandit faces, and lots of vehicles! 6 helicopters, 70+ vehicles, plenty of action going down all the time. LegitDayZ is a great server to play on. As of right now, due to some server issues and whatnot, we have lost quite a bit of our playerbase. I played on LegitDayZ my first day ever playing DayZ and I have not stopped playing on it since. The admins are sincere, and they are also active, so you know you won't deal with hackers that much, and if you do it won't be for very long. We are trying to get enough players on here to have at least 30 on the server every day. We have plenty of friendly players who are willing to help out and team up, and we have plenty of bandit players who you should have a fun time avoiding. Plenty of vehicles to drive around including helicopters. Personally this is one of my favorite servers to play on. We are always looking for new players, and at the moment we need em. We used to have all kinds of players but due to people just getting bored of the game in general, with new games being released we have lost a few members that's for sure. As far as i understand you allow RMOD? /does it already come as a addon installed? cause im in need of a private hive host that has RMOD so i can get some of the awesome old AR2 CO vehicles back into DayZ i mean i find it a bit boring with only 11/12 different vehicles... ok ok 9 vehicles boats sux :3
  20. There is no way to get rid of them without some sort of debug script of some sort. The sucky part is even if you blow them up and restart, they return on the restart. Devs really need to do something about this as it is CRIPPLING to servers when a hacker spawns hundreds and hundreds of vehicles and buildings. If they spawn them all on top of each other, they all start taking damage off collision and then bogs down your server until it crashes entirely. At 1.4 millsion users, you have to quit copping out to alpha and recognize that this is a big problem for public servers who have little resources for fixing this issue, especially with the frequency that hackers do this crap.

    The Shack - a different kind of Taviana server.

    Quick update: This server is currently still running the taviana.com 1.7.4.4 map. We should see a move over to Tavi2.0 soon: Next week at the outside, next few days optimistically. The switch is dependant on Bliss incorporation of the map - we will be running the proper Bliss and not a branch development. We are so excited to see tavi2.0 coming out. The map is fully prepared for testing of new vehicles, and otherwise our admin workload has been pretty light the last few days.

    day z needs more vehicles!

    My problem with vehicles comes down to two words, "Cap" and "Clans". The vehicle cap on servers is too low, and the vehicles that are on the servers are usually sitting in a clan base somewhere along with many other vehicles. These clans collect and hog most of the vehicles that are available. You can't change how clans act, they should be able to collect vehicles and keep them for them selves, that only leaves one option: More vehicles. But i don't think vehicles should that common either, it sort of takes the fun out of it. I remember months back when i was playing with a group of friends, we had been playing almost non-stop for days. We had a pickup and 4 ATV's. When we went out of our base we took all the vehicles and drove in a convoy, the pick up infront and the ATV's following in line, our vehicles were stock full of weapons, and so were we. Just driving like that was amazingly fun, but i don't think it would've been that fun had we not have to work for it, this convoy was a medal of our hard work and i think that's what made it so special. Don't get me wrong though, i think finding vehicles is too hard, and even if you find one and it's damages, repairing it can take forever. But it can't be too easy either. There needs to be a middle ground. Our base with all our gear and vehicles was eventually attacked, we were there to defend it but after 1 and a half hour of fighting, we lost. It was night and i'm pretty sure they had the L85. We were 6 against 2 (i think), but we lost. After 3 of us had died, we decided to take the vehicles and as much gear as we could and bail. We managed to save 2 vehicles and some gear. Loosing that sucked, but that was part of the fun.
  23. A group of friends & I have recently started a private hive server and are looking for a rival clan to offer some competition on the server. We decided to go to get our own private hive because we are tired of abusive/cheating admins who get upset whenever their clan is killed or their vehicles stolen. Obviously building up numbers on a new server can be tough so we are looking for a rival clan that would be interested in joining our server. We understand that moving to a private hive can be annoying (starting from scratch, etc.) so we are offering incentives if people do join. Any clan ( Preferably EU or US East) that does decide to join our server will receive a one time bonus for doing so: - Special Camouflage for each member of the clan (Max 10) - AK74 (with ammo) for each member of the clan (Max 10) - 2 Alice Packs - 1 Camping Tent - 1 BAF Military Land Rover To take us up on this offer please post in this forum & join the server: IP: 5.153.13.115 Port: 3068 Once we see evidence (more than 2 clan members on the server) the reward will be credited to a location of your choosing.
