Sigh. No loot spawning or vehicles only zombies. Havent go time for this. :(

Farming shouldn't be something you want as a feature in the game. If we're going for authenticity here, I doubt that a survivor in an actual apocalypse wouldn't enter the same building 8 times to check for a car tire. I hope that Rocket finds a way to cut down on item farming in the standalone. Anyways, I disagree, with your main point. Zombies are very easy to avoid for an experienced player, and as many players have said, they're not much more than an annoyance. We need zombies that run indoors and can hit you if you're hiding in a tree. It's a zombie game, the zombies should be the main danger in it. I've never been killed in 2-3 hits by a zombie. Knocked out by 2 or 3 hits, sure, buts that's a fairly rare situation and I don't see anything wrong with it. And like GOD said, the vehicles are a problem, and hopefully are being fixed.

I understand the IDEA of hordes of zombies. It had that feel before when zombies ran normal speed. You could run into a building knowing you had just a few seconds, 5 to 15, to grab something and get out or be trapped. Now??? No way. Not even 1 second. Soon as you run in there are ALWAYS 3+ zombies at the door before you even look at what gear is on the floor with 10 more coming behind them. Thats not a challenge. Thats just stupid. Its becoming more laborious to "play" dayz. Its more & more like work than fun. Grindy & tedious to do even little things. But hey, if you think thats fun, no wonder you love Dayz so much. But be warned.... the same mind the produces tedious, superfast, instant hit zombies is the same mind that leaves cars fragile and takes away all the guns for "realism". And vehicles in Arma 2 arent as fragile as in DayZ. I can do 2-3 times as much in arma 2 with a vehicle. And Wastleand also for that matter... so theres something about the mod that makes cars a huge chore. Pebble! Lookout! Full green to red... & needs two tires! But hey thats "fun!" its a zombie apocalypse after all! not a game!

Thanks for all of your feedback!! :D I actually have over 200 vehicles and you spawn with NVG (24/7 daylight really not needed) you also spawn with a golden revolver :P my map has been worked on for weeks and have custom buildings and bases (to take over) and also NWAF has custom barracks with weapon crates. Has DayZ lost its charm? keep the feedback coming :rolleyes:

That's how DayZ should be. Hordes of zombies, which makes them a threat instead of an annoying distraction. Its a zombie apocalypse after all. Also what kind of zombie apocalypse has Grade A military equipment lying around left and right? But i do agree with the fact of how fragile vehicles can be, but thats ARMA 2s fault. ;)

Yea, spawning with gear is not so cool, its the hunting for treasure while fearing for yah life that makes this game. Custom loot tables are all good though, and servers with plenty o vehicles seem to populate well.

Why not add custom gear that may hype up population or make it a 24/7 day time, custom vehicles wrecks, new buildings on NWAF and NEAF, it just depends on what people on the server want enable side chat and directly ask your current players maybe?

This server ROCKS! With 130+ vehicles, you are rarely without something to get you around, and with the custom crash sites, theres always something to look for! Friendly admins are always willing to help, and the rest of the players are mostly respectfull and helpfull. I've been playing on this server for awhile now and it's now the only one I play on. Lots of fun, just needs a few more regular players to make it even better, So come one people, apply and play!

Can anyone point me to a link, or give me a primer on setting up a custom, non official server? I have played on a few with custom buildings, camps, vehicles etc, and am interested on possibly setting up one of my own. I have no experience running DayZ or Arma on the server side, but have plenty of computer power to run it smoothly. Thanks!

I don't see a problem with it. If they run the server, they should have whatever rules they deem worthy. If I was running a server, it would be an English-speaking one only. The reason being, people clutter up side chat and comms with a language no-one can understand. Then again, you may not get this in SA as the server files apparently wont be made public. That means No kicks for being Russian, Dutch, English etc etc and all servers are the same minus the odd 3rd person view and cross-hairs option. No more of this 3000+ vehicles and starting with an AS50 or BS mySQL injecting admins with a God-Complex

I think this really needs to be addressed. Recently my friends found a server that you can buy bases, starter gear and vehicles on. This is fucking ridiculous. Today my friends decided to attack a base we'd found, they have a gas station, helicopters,Urals and even BARRACKS! Does this not completely defeat the purpose of the game? Shit yeah it does! Their members are all geared to the teeth, obviously. We killed one guy who had 6 range finders and 6 pairs of night vision goggles on him... There are also rules that surround these bases, you aren't allowed to destroy the base or vehicles, you're not allowed to take any of the vehicles. The starter gear is pretty messed up as well, if you pay $60 you can spawn with - 60 - Supreme package: Weapons: M14 aim - 3 Mags M9SD - 4 Mags Inventory: Cooked Steak 2 Water Bottle's Range Finder Night Vision Goggles Map Compass Watch Military flashlight Hatchet Matches Medical Supplies: 4 Bandages 1 Painkillers 2 Morphine 1 Bloodbag Backpack: Alice Backpack Extra items inside of backpack: 1 Painkiller 1 Morhpine 1 Epinephrine 1 Heatpack 3 Cooked Steak 2 Water Bottles 2 Pepsi Something seriously needs to be done about this... An excellent server, admins are great for being vigilant about hackers. Tons of vehicles are out and about, generally people will even help you, which is unusual haha -Night

I had another play around with it tonight and it appears that 3rd person is working just fine now, but I'm still to see any of the new weapons or vehicles Tavi 2.0 added though. Server address is 94.242.227.166 Port: 2542 Id rather not lose any gear for our users though as the server is really getting busy recently

Just a quick query. Weve got a Vilayer server (presently running Taviana). It's all patched and uptodate but it's been running since just before the 2.0 update. Ive tried to disable the 3rd person view (found the config option to allow me to do this and it's set to "disable" 3rd person) but it doesnt seem to be applying this setting. I've also noted that the server isnt running the changes tavi 2.0 is supposed to ahve implemented, or at least all of them, for example ive not seen any of the new vehicles or weapons spawn yet. I presume it's becasue i have to do a full "reset" of the server, but ive heard of servers not needing this and that just applied the 2,0 and its features without losing data. Anyone else who has a Vilayer server (prefereably running Tavi) have a similar experience or have any advice?

About making vehicles spawn fully repaired, you need to change a few things in the vehicle table in the database. damage_min -> 0 damage_max -> 0 //The vehicles won't be damaged. fuel_min -> 1 fuel_max -> 1 //Vehicles will have full fuel, or whatever your preference is limit_min -> 0 limit_max -> 0 // Vehicles will have no broken parts You can do this to all vehicles by running this SQL command: UPDATE vehicle SET damage_min=0,damage_max=0,fuel_min=1,fuel_max=1,limit_min=0,limit_max=0; I have not actually used the database in that way, but that should work fine. I have a PHP script that runs hourly that loads in new vehicles randomly to empty spawns (no matter if a vehicle from that spawn is on a map, so multiple vehicles per spawn, which apparently does not automatically happen with the current bliss) up to our vehicle limit. I also have a separate max heli count, and helis will spawn in based on the number I set (so I always have the same number of helis on the server).

Bring your group of friends to our server, server is owned by a survivor group so you will definitely have a chance to survive. We added custom bases (not just a crappy building), more weapons and vehicles to make the game more enjoyable. We do heavy administrating and our database is backed up every 30 minutes, in case a script kiddy wants to play. Battleye is enabled, you will need rMod. I can build an awesome base at the coordinates you'd like to camp at. I am the server admin and I try to keep things interesting and balanced by customizing the mod, if you have any recommendations, let me know.

Holy hell, and I thought the "9001 VEHICLES 30 HELIS 25/8 DAYLIGHT SPAWN WITH AS50 AND M4A1" servers were bad.

As an admin you can see vehicles on an admin map. It is possible if he did track it down via admin map or asked his friend who is the admin where it went. Is it admin abuse, only if its a public server? Idk like some one else said leave that server.

So after playing dayz for some time, jumping different public servers meeting hackers. I finaly found me a private hive with active admins :) recently they switched from chernarus to taviana but hey a little change doesnt hurt. So yesterday I found a AS50 on a heli crash site and 2xghillie suits. Ofcourse I pick upp the noobsniper and is thinking "I`ll have fun with this". Camping the bridge for an hour I only killed 1 person and got bored so I logged off. Next day I discovered I need food n drinks, so I went over the mountains towards Sabina, the main city, when I check the city for players I see one lonely bus. Thinking "should I shoot or not" it was about 900meters away and my triggerfinger itched. But I surprised myself and instead of shooting I asked who it was, told em to join me on the servers teamspeak, I wanted them to check out a heli wich I thought was a trap for me. Sitting on TS talking to this person we started joking, having fun and generally a good time, so when he bugged on the airport inside a building and broke his leg, I used my last morphine on him. I`ve then been stalking him for 15mins while he was looking for car parts and guns talking with him the entire time. After fixing his legg someone shot at him, I ran into the building and climbed upp on the roof to see if I could surprise whoever shot at uss. 5mins later the dude who killed my recent new friend tried climbing upp the ladder so I shot him inn the head, oh god the rage he was having before getting banned for language harrasment. Good times. Luckily my friend spawned close and got his stuff back. We drove away inn the bus. Later we found 1 VW golf, so we swapped vehicles. Then we found another! So we got one each. Then we met another red golf, who joined us and made a golf club. We drove around joking and talking on TS when suddenly we found another dude inn a red golf! So trusting 1 person instead of shooting him, somehow escalated into me beeing a part of a 4 person vw golf club! We just drove for a couple hours before logging of. Trying to run people over and scaring people and making them laugh at the 4 golfs driving on the road. Trusting people sometimes leads to you having alot of fun, you most likely end upp dead BUT hey its worth to take the risk. So much fun!! So to all you bandits, beeing friendly can be more fun then beeing a bandit ;)
