    Added 50 more vehicles!
  2. So I am starting this Topic to see what the DayZ community would like to see in the standalone version of Dayz, hopefully our ideas will give the dev team some inspiration to implement some of these ideas into the actual standalone Dayz. Post your ideas below and lets hope the dev team reads it! Here is my idea. DayZ is a fantastic game by itself and how its made now. But it would be nice to see some other features added just to keep the game exciting and interesting. Things like Safe Havens, factions, like you choose if you want to be a survivor or bandit. These are my ideas and hopefully you guys can share yours. Safe Havens - A little area / town thats protected by survivors, it would be used to chat to fellow survivors for going out to find weapons, food, drinks, vehicles, helis. Would also be interesting if the "Safe Haven" would be randomly attacked by hoards of Zombies, if there is enough players guarding the Safe Haven it can be protected. If there is minimal amount of players. the Zombies can overrun the safe haven, and would require a small team to re take it. The Safe Haven would also be used for emergency food / water supply, though, you can't take any of those supplies with you, and there would be limited amount of supplies, you can run out of supplies if abused, and the only way to re-supply would band together with survivors and scavenge for food / water. Of course there would only be one Safe Haven, so people wouldn't feel to need to just abuse the supplies so they don't find the need to find it for themselves. Like if a person just needed food / water because their indicators were flashing red and it was needed because you would die otherwise. Missions - There would be NPC / AI characters that would require you ( or a team of survivors ) to help them, like to clear out zombies, get food / water for them. ammunition or medical supplies etc. and rewards would be things like a can of pasta / soda. Or Ammunition ( 1-2 mags ) though the ammunition / medication would be rare in quests so it can't be abused. Yes the whole point of DayZ is to survive and scavenge on your own or with a friend. And survive, but to make it that more realistic, if a real world Zombie Apocalypse were to happen. This is something that would possibly happen. A small town with people / missions that require you to do for others. Also for the Safe Haven, If people use the Supplies in the Safe Haven, it has a chance of running out. And the only way to replenish the supply is to scavenge food / water / medicine till the supply is filled back up. Hospital / ward in Safe Haven - A little ward that you can go to treat a broken limb or require a blood transfusion. ( again, if used a lot you can run out of supplies and require to scavenge for it) It would be server wide too, if the safe haven runs out of - food, water, medicine like blood bags, epi-pens, bandages etc it would require survivors to band together and scavenge supplies for the safe haven only - they can't take any of the supplies until the safe haven is filled. I think this would be a great idea to put in the stand alone game as it could give players more fun and things to do. other than respawning, gathering items, dying from a douche player - repeat. DayZ is fine how it is, but would be great to see things like this implemented, more real life feel to it, I think. Post your ideas below and lets see if the devs respond or put some of these ideas for the stand alone. And if anyone can send this topic to the devs so they can read it :P

    day z needs more vehicles!

The problem IMHO is that you have to spend so much time covering so much distance to find a vehicle AND all of the parts to make it run that it sort of defeats the purpose of it. You might as well just walk to wherever you were going to go with the vehicle in a fraction of the time it would have taken you to make it work. And at the end of the day, someone can just steal it when you are offline. Which is the whole reason people hoard them off the edge of the map and barely use them. Personally I find more common vehicle useage makes the game less boring. Especially at night. Couple of highlights: Driving a motorbike wearing NV goggles with the lights off. Saw a bambi running down the middle of the street with his flashlight. Beeped the horn as I zipped past and probably scared the shit out of him. Drive up to the warehouses near Kamenka. I'm searcing around for a jerry can when a survivor comes running in the door with a dozen agroed zombies behind him yelling "lets get the fuck out of here!!!". We run back to the car and get the fuck out of there. (I know the zombies were effectively trapped in the building because of the walking in building thing, but it was still funny). This afternoon, I don't know what the heck was going on, but a helicopter (am MI17 on a high vehicle server) landed in a field near the woods where I was walking. Then another (a Huey). I could see the crew get out, shining their flashlights and searchlights around as they conducted whatever operation they were performing. Then they flew away in the MI17. The Huey didn't have much fuel so I fure that's why they left it. I took off, figured out how to fly it in the air, then skidded it into the woods outside of Cherno (I survived). I felt bad for wrecking their bird, but finders keepers and I could have killed them from my observation point with my NV goggles and DMR rifle if I wanted to anyway. Vehicles mean constantly choosing between stealth and speed/carrying capacity. Everyone hears when a convoy rolls up into town. And they make the roads a lot more dangerous.

    Adding Armored Vehicles

The following armored/combat-purposed vehicles should balance each-other out. 1) Civilian or military jeeps and pickup trucks with attachable weaponry. Unarmored, carries few (2-4) but quick and lethal. Urals are the exception to the rule, as they can carry more passengers and are a bit tougher. Very rare. 2) Small, very old armored personnel carriers with no attachable weapons. Slow, but shields well from small arms fire. Sustained fire from a LMG could take out these rusty giants, but zombies can't do shit. Perfect for carrying multiple passengers in dangerous areas, and a great addition to any convoy. Extremely rare. 3) Battle-bus. The perfect combination. Unarmored, but metal sheets can be attached to protect the hull and passengers, to a certain extent. Can also be equipped with some weapons. Buses are easier to find than the former two vehicle "classes", but must be heavily customized to serve it's true purpose. And then there are the unarmored, combat-ineffective civilian vehicles such as the sedan. Easier to find.

    Adding Armored Vehicles

I like the idea of more options rather than less. But I don't think we want Cherno to look like Black Hawk Down Somalia either. So maybe you would have the option of mounting an M-249 or other machinegun to the back of a pickup or adding armor plating to vehicles at the expense of speed. No armored fighting vehicles like tanks or Bradley IFVs (or BMPs I suppose since it's former Soviet republic).

    What is DayZ to you?

It's a social game theory simulator. Put 50 people in a huge combined wilderness/urban setting with no rules other than survival and no equipment other than what they can find. See what they do. I disagree with the anti-high vehicle server crowd. Not like 1400 vehicles, but enough where I can find a ride to the next town if I need it. I know some would prefer a Bear Grylls style survival game, but to me the vehicle aspect is just as important. The show's called Walking Dead, not Walking Everyone.

    Adding Armored Vehicles

They have a pk pickup already in ARMA so it would not be hard to put into DayZ. Actually considering chernarus mat have been in a civil war before the outbreak (assuming it follows somewhat the story from ARMA) technicals like that would not be out of the question. Even if no civil war I am sure police, military and even civilians would modify existing vehicles to be better equiped to survive zombies.
  10. Server running with lots of vehicles spawned, heli's easy to find. Good connection in UK, hacker free, custom loadout. Just type "chav's server" in the filter and join :)
  11. Dylanco1

    Vehicle suggestion- The RV

An RV would be awesome but only if it was the only vehicle you can walk while inside on the ground so things like Backpack management you could do inside and you could shoot while inside peer out the top that kind of thing and it could also be one of the only vehicles you can fuck with gun attachments while inside
  12. Alright, story time. I play on a rather bad laptop that was not made for gaming, much less ARMA2. But I get by. Playing on a laptop also means resorting to using the mouse-pad instead of an actual mouse. It can get difficult for me sometimes, but again, it's playable and the game is far too fun to just give up because of little things like framerate. But enough about such things, on to the story! I had just respawned from a hacker teleporting the server to The Thunderdome and killing everyone, and when I spawned I had absolutely no gear in this dark, unforgiving world. Not even a flashlight! So I headed to Elektro and spotted a flashlight. It was obviously another new spawner so I ran up and teamed up with the no-mic, him giving light support while I shot the many zombies that had us cornered. After surviving that we were the best of friends, looting all of the now strangely zombie-free quiet town. The grocery store and the church had been blown up, but the hotel alone gave us enough that we could travel North with our newest friend from the school. We pretty much played follow the leader with the chemlight all the way to NW Airfield, talking to a guy in sidechat that had actually survived the massacre of Thunderdome and was happily looting, but was stuck in by the walls around the fort. When we all finally arrived we spotted a heli that had been blown off to the side. (The hacker had been spawning mass-vehicles in the middle of thunderdome and was blowing them up on us.) It was fully fueled and repaired, so we obviously wanted it.. except for a small problem, no flight experience. Out of the four of us, not a single one of us had ever flown, with the exception of the guy that -had- done the tutorial, but said he managed to flip and die even with auto-hover on. He was not chosen to fly, and eventually I stepped up! It was rather shaky at first, inching my way from the outside perimeter of the walls into the inside of gear central with auto-hover on, and an even sketchier landing across the blown up rustyard. But once we landed we all hopped out and grabbed pretty much everything we could to make a hasty retreat into the sky, this time actually having to turn off auto so we could go forward. A few thousand meters later and we had picked up a fifth to our happy little group, loaded him out and gave him a seat. Now's when the lesson kicks in.. We ended up at NE airfield, and after looting I stopped at 150~ meters high and checked my map so I could set a waypoint back to Cherno for more rescue missions. When I hit 'M' again, chaos. I don't know if you've used a mousepad before or not, but sometimes it will glitch out and when you lift and re-press on it, and the cursor shoves itself to the bottom of the screen for a moment. This is what happened when I exited the map, going directly into a frontflip from a small altitude. Panic quickly settled in, but after doing a full front-flip I thought I could balance it out again, which was wrong. A fresh spawn of zombies set my FPS just low enough that I couldn't pull back up in time, sending us into -another- frontflip to which we hit the ground hard upside-down. We were still in sidechat while we yelled to our deaths, to which the entire server got their share of laughs I'm sure, and we ended up laughing at ourselves too, because the gear didn't mean all that much to us. Needless to say I won't be flying again anytime soon, unless of course I get the proper training and an actual mouse. But as a solo player it had been one of my funnest experiences so far on DayZ, I was happy enough just to find strangers that didn't shoot me in the face on sight, so teaming up with a group for the first time was certainly worth it! (Even though I ended up killed us all, sorry again guys!)
  13. Hello guys like you could see on my title i'm looking for a group or a partner to play with i would say 1-4 people would be enough if its a group. I would appreciate if you would read everything before you post thnx in advance. I live in europe gmt +1 so i will tell a bit about myself. I'm 23 years old and this is mine 1ste week actually.. yes playing dayz... but i did research about the game before i started to play so i'm sure i know like 99% of this game how it works... i'm a really fast learner :) . I only played on chernarus and taviana maps but i'm willing to try other maps also. I like to play this game serious and have fun which is the most important thing. I didn't kill someone yet ingame.. but hey if i don't trust someone i prefer to kill him then he kills me. I'm mature but i like to joke around sometime like everyone else but they should not go childish... I'm playing most of the time on EU servers cuz i'm getting huge lags on US servers (not all US servers). I prefer veteran difficulty cuz i don't like the white dots above the heads it makes it to easy. I also prefer to play on public servers, because those are most of the time without extra mods what i know but i could be wrong so like uhmm how to say this "normal mod" or "standard mod"? what i mean with that is like old skool so no 500 vehicles or "rmod"? that is like more vehicles or more weapons or whatever not sure which.. looks to me would make it more easy... and i noticed it isn't easy to find a vehicle which is cool cuz if you do.. it would be something "special which you own" cuz i like challenges and to struggle like a team to achieve a goal with hard work. I also don't like 24/7 daylight only cuz i like to play also on night time.. mostly i just play same ingame time as it is in real time.. to say all in short how more realistic the game is how more i like it. Oh yeah almost forgot i'm a chill guy i don't like to rage... if someone makes a mistake it could be even more fun cuz you have to do perhaps more then you expected and i like challenges.. i look always positive the most of the time... so i hope some of you got the same taste and attitude like me. I know it's lot of "information" but i prefer to keep playing with same group/partner so u know which kinda player you will be playing with. The goals you prolly already found if you took your time to read so here are the requirements. REQUIREMENTS - You must be 18+ - No squeaky voice it's hurting my ears :( - You must speak fluent English at least that i could understand you.. and no worries i'm not myself from UK so. - You should be active - Working mic/skype or maybe something else where we could talk cuz i don't think typing will work out ingame (hard to type if you're busy killing zombie's) - You should be mature - Understanding of the game how it works at least - Helping each other/working which each other so don't be selfish play like a team - Able to kill other players if needed (im not a bandit but its hard to trust people which makes the game awesome) - Having same taste as me and playing the same "game mode"?.. <- I won't play any servers with extra added vehicles/weapons/etc i'm keeping it old skool uhmm i think that's all if you wanna reply put at least some information like below here. Age?: Where you from/timezone: <- would be nice if we play same time :) Experience: <- just interested You have a headset/skype/etc: <- must have actually but still How much time do you spend on playing dayz: Do you prefer public/private servers: Tell a little bit about yourself: If your interested reply here and leave your skype name so i could add you myself.
  14. Have you ever wanted to join veteran servers that are first person only, veteran, or ect but were disappointed by the lack of players? This thread strives to change that. Here, we will post server addresses of some good, hardcore private hives for all the maps, warranted there is one. That way, when we play, we will all play on those servers and have company! It's not like we're starting a group to find and play with eachother, we are playing on the same servers but separately. When I can, I'll be looking up some addresses and posting them here in a spoiler. In the meantime, if you'd like to participate, let us get an idea of how many players we are dealing with. Post your: -ArmA name -Timezone in GMT and play schedule -Maps you play and how often If you would like to suggest a server to add to the list, please post in the suggestion: -complete server address -server IP -features (no first person, ect) -review of the server based on your experience, mostly in active admins, hack protection, gameplay, lag, restart times, ect -keep in mind a review of how challenging the server was will go farther than recording your fortunes -you will need someone registered on the thread to go in the server and do a follow up, supporting your claims Keep in mind these are hardcore servers, so they must have/be/not have the following: -be veteran difficulty -have crosshairs, nameplates, and tracers turned off atleast, preferably first person only and no death messages -do not feature give aways, an excessive amount of vehicles, or starting gear that gives any more than an extra bandage or so -preferably no side chat, but is acceptable -whitelisted servers must be stated as so by the suggestor and posted in a separate section by me Let's get busy! You know.. in the gaming sense....

    What is DayZ to you?

I'm fine with DayZ - there are plenty of servers that are perfectly good to play. I am just trying to find out why people want to play on servers where you can't move anywhere without finding vehicles and starting with loads of high-end guns. I really don't see the point as there are many other sandbox games where you can drive cars around - just wondering why people ply DayZ but take away one of the main game aspects.
  16. Dortmunder (DayZ)

    What is DayZ to you?

Sounds like 2017 is the mod for you. I like the 2017 mod personally. But I also see no problem with the regular servers, or other maps with lots of vehicles etc. Play on the server/mod you like.
  17. To me DayZ is a zombie survival shooter. The survival element as well as the zombie element and obviously the shooting is all very important. I see loads and loads of servers completely ruining the 'survival' aspect of DayZ with servers containing loadouts, 100+ vehicles, 5+ choppers and loads of other additions that to me are extremely gamebreaking and just not what DayZ should be about. I like DayZ at its base level, without all the modifications that loads of people seem to add to their servers that cheapen the game for me. What do you find important - what is DayZ to you?

    I'm Disappointed...

have you noticed the absence of me, the OP's argument about your playstyle? Why should I change the title when 'I' amd not arguing to you 'yet'? I think the title is pretty articulate. I'm disappointed.. Not in you, no, but the servers. You can go one having fun or "surviving" all you want, I just want some good servers that don't try to advertise me with so many vehicles or free giveaways like I'm some kind if noob. I don't care how you play. I'd just like somewhere that lets me play how I want too.
  20. person915

    I'm Disappointed...

Wow, this thread has really taken off. Anyway, i'll address some of your sayings w/o quotes because my phone doesn't like it and I'm riding passenger on the interstate. The main thing is that I love private hives. Not only does it prevent people who get AS50s on an empty server from joining in, but it prevents ghosting as well. Also, PHs are usually more secure, faster, and more community oriented. I spent an hour joining over 30+ servers and they all had vehicles or custom loadouts that just made it stupid. For my accomplishment in DayZ, all I want is a clean, organized camp with 1 vehicle and a collection of CZs, Winchesters, Enfields and double barrels. Then I go hunt bandits and be a medic. I haven't had a hacker pop up in a long time. A month or two, actually. Even so, once I die, my camp, vehicles, and gear are left to the buzzards. I don't retrieve them under any circumstance, unless its NVGs because there's just no finding those. So hackers destroying my work isn't a big concern. I like how I operate and never have a proem with doing it because starting over is fun. I often kill myself because I don't like the way I got my gear or the game played out, just because. I don't want everyone to play like this, but keep respectable distance. I mean, I spent 2 days up and down the coast and inside Chernarus trying to find a vehicle, and did not even find a bike. Now you go in and see a working GAZ on a red carpet? Work for it. This game is about reward and consequence, as well as what I said in the OP. So I'll be starting a thread soon about playing on some good private hives for some maps that I know are good, and I'll link it here when it's up. It'll be like a community thread, so we can all agree to play on these certain servers so they aren't so empty. We won't play together, just on the same servers, unless you want to. This way all the pro-hardcore players can have a fun little community to battle with. If anyone starts this thread I'm talking about I will stalk you ingame so hard you will never want to play again. This is my thread idea and please respect that I can't get it up yet but i will when I can. See you all soon, on the real proving grounds.
  21. Hey! Me and two friends I met on the forum are looking for more survivors to team up with and start making serious progress. We're currently in possession of two vehicles (UAZ and a bus), a fair amount of weaponry and ammunition, ghillie suits, night vision. Our RoE are at the moment: If armed - KoS. We don't consider ourselves bandits, but we don't like to take chances. We'll avoid combat if possible but we're not going to back down from a fight. If you're interested in joining, add me on Skype (Tribal-Force), or throw me a message here with the following information: Age Location Playing Times Skype Experience Hope to see you ingame!

    Adding Armored Vehicles

Yeah I was thinking about adding some armored vehicles into DayZ & Standalone. Not anything overpowered but stuff we could expect in real life if an event such as DayZ would happen. Maybe add some Pickup Trucks with PKMs & Machine Guns mounted to the roof. Also being able to replenish ammo to the Huey currently in DayZ. I find a bunch of 100 RND M240 All the time and I can't add it back to my heli for when we spray the guns.
