Private servers in standalone (no hackers/no antisocial)
enforcer1975 replied to UltimateKeks's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not true, if you gather the right people you can still form groups and fight eachother, there would still be enough individual players, no server hopping, enforced rules like no ALT-F4, glitching, hacking, ghosting because they wouldn't be able to unless they want to play elsewhere. Community hosted servers wouldn't be there for nothing. -
Trading High-Tier Loot for Intel on "The Coalition"
Publik replied to DayZ Dan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We were at Devil's castle today, but we won't be tomorrow. The most fun time to attack us is about 2 hours in while we're winding down and looking for some action. Ghosting is lame and I expect you won't be doing that. On behalf of the employees whose lives I've made harder, you're welcome ;) For my information I'd like two rusty cans and a sack of no less than 29 marbles. If no one gets it yet, FTC (at the least) enjoys a challenge. We're in no ways angry about legitimate attacks. These attacks only further the community and the experience for those involved. I'd like to ask that the other groups in the Coalition think in a similar way. Real bandits aren't our enemies. Our enemies are the kids that hack and ghost and give bandits a bad name. -
Squad fights have a tendency to not be a battle of who can AltF4 the fastest Simply because you end up with multiple corpses to loot/guard, noone wants to abort in a firefight just so the enemy can loot his fallen comrade So far I've only had one 2vs6 where my friend and I basically struck a hornets nest of ghosting with a goddamn baseball bat It was like fighting ninjas, you saw one appear in a bush, engaged him, and away he went, just so he could reappear again in another location

Minamo replied to notap's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Awesome.... i had something "Like" that last night, Me and my buddy was up against 3 players, originally 4 we took one out before we noticed they were 4, Suddenly they just make a rush for us gun blazing out in a open field NW of Cherno, We quickly but realized that they were not to be found on the field so we did a quick move.... they just keept on Ghosting. Combat logging. Everytime we saw one of 'em fired a few shots he logged out, The Third time this happend, we decided to just log out.. Cuz thats not a fight... -
us 1555- wrongfully banned because they lost their camp.
M O N S T E R replied to feathand's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You are not permitted to ban for suspected cheats or exploits of a non-server-disruptive nature, including but not limited to ghosting, unverified cheating, duping and similar, UNLESS you have solid evidence, IE logs. - Dante-shawn As scummy as server hoppers are, it's not a valid excuse to ban someone or a group from your server without the appropriate evidence that seems to be lacking here. Unless I missed something. -MONSTER -
This was some wierd day on DE 128. Server is hosted by Forgotten Hope Warzone Some weeks ago, some noob on this server crashed the helicopter into the sea between island and mainland, we tried to recover it but to no avail, it exploded instant when pilot entered and respawned at same position next day. Good job with parking your helicopter there. Since then i checked the island spawn every other day and today it finally resetted. I set up a camp to wait for my mates, and suddenly, silenced shots! So we were in for a nice fight. Ghosting and dc'ing on their part, well i'd call it fair. 3 of us up against at least 5 of them, and still a kdr of 3:1 in our favour. Here we knew for a fact that we fought against the clan holding the server. Helicopter was in perfect shape except for fuel. Still a few of them guys around. So we took our chances, brought fuel and took off. Got hit, engine was already in the orange, but we managed to escape. We reached the fuel station in polana and had more hostile contact, shitty aim there though. we took off again and shortly after had to land further north because fuel went out. I was smart enough to save the helicopter as soon as we hit ground. Suddenly: Session lost. I think the server didn't restart, because it was like instant available again in server list, but lacking alot of players who were on before this happened. Just coincidence? This is the second time this kind of bs happened to us after we won a fight over a helicopter. So i checked my backpack, three random fuel cans in there, guess i picked them up earlier and just forgot about them. So we had another 60 liter fuel, which brought us to NE airfield to fuel up enough to collect the rest of our team. Then we took a brief break on the western border of the map. 5-10 minutes in, our overwatch noticed a guy in ghillie suit crawling towards our postition. Thats not where you'd expect to see someone at night, on foot, just as you take a break there. We tried to kill him, instant DC again. In air again, found first stash, at ground again. After we finished looting, regrouped at helicopter, i suddenly find myself at the coast, next to a guy in ghillie suit. I was not sure if its one of our guys who got teleported with me, next second i am dead, My mates noticed none of this until i said i'm dead. They instantly left the server. Not sure if it was a bug or a cheater - someone with name "PLAYER 1" and a wierd ping of around 150 was on at that time and dc'ed shortly after. Not sure why he'd kill just me when it was a cheater. When we joined again, no further incidents happened. Imo that altogether still is just a tad too many coincidences at once for me, i think something fishy is going on here. A summery: ghosting & dc'ing by FHW server dropping our pilot & copilot after we escaped twice with it some random ghillie finding us within a few minutes in the middle of nowhere i get teleported to the coast, together with a random ghillie and i'm dead I got no evidence, thus i'm not reporting this yet. I will see whats happening tomorrow, hopefully i find a solution to my lack of discspace till then.

Nice thought, but the way this MOD game engines works be way to easy to get into the houses via ghosting...also to many zeds in towns...out in the forest...hard to find...no zeds....safe to return too if you die... AJ
-
Hmm, almost a bean-worthy story, except for the part about ghosting in from another server, If they didn't have enough guards posted to stop you sneaking in, that's their problem, but ghosting is just cheating by another name, and if you have to cheat to win, then you shouldn't be playing.
-
Ignore the survivor whos butt is aching from pain and humiliation. He's mad for the wrong reasons and not for the right. He should be mad you ghosted, not because you blew up a school for the mentally challenged. 6 vs 1 I think that's an accomplishment, even if it was ghosting. However you shouldn't have ghosted, other than that, cool story.

Thermal vision. Does it belong in this game?
galhast replied to galhast's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It was in the hills south of stary, looking into the tents. So yes, it very well could have been someone ghosting, or even just checking the spot out. Either way, I miss my beautiful SVD :( I didn't even get to shoot anyone with it! As for thermals being removed from the game, I kind of hope this is true. But I see on both the wiki and dayzdb pages, it doesn't mention anything about that. -
Currently recruiting for a clan war. Anyone that doesn't sound like Mickey Mouse hop on our teamspeak server. We have an in-game server and we know of many hostile vehicle locations and camps. Teamspeak 3 - ts3.ascendedkillers.org:9988 No hacking/duping No alt+f4ing No ghosting

So I'm back on the coast after running to the NWA My regular server went down so, I joined another server and got gilligan'd! Is this to prevent server hopping/ghosting? If so it is a huge fail! Or is this just another bug?

The Coalition - Changing the Culture of DayZ
Dr Wasteland MD replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's my perspective, and I only speak for myself - not for The Coalition or it's member organizations. It would be ludicrous for me to dictate to you how to play the game. That wouldn't really be any fun, for me or anyone else. What I can do is encourage. I will encourage TMW's members to play on The Coalition's servers. I will encourage TMW members to take their patients on those servers and play on them if they choose. I will encourage my people to advance the culture that The Coalition is all about - having new experiences by not killing just for fun. CQF will probably have their guys run patrols, but their people have volunteered for just that kind of thing. If your group joins The Coalition, how you craft your role in our new society is completely up to you. I personally like the idea of a bunch of lone wolves running around who are not going to shoot survivors, but instead attempt to find mutually beneficial relationships with strangers while maintaining their lone wolf playstyle. I can firmly state that I do not condone tactics and strategies that I would call "not in the spirit of the game." This includes things like duping, combat logging, zombie logging, ghosting, hacking, and exploiting. It should be said that I do not consider camping loot spawns to be an exploit. -
I need help finding login positions in .rpt file.
jamestrendall posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Last night a few people on our server had been affected by ghosters, A few friends and myself witnessed this first hand, We have been trying to find in the .RPT file the locations of the login and out positions so we can submit this in the cheat section and also flush our server of anyone else doing this douche bag move, We have the players name time and then a string of numbers similar to this, PLAYER NAME time PASS false 1234.12 1234.12 136 Its along those lines, Now we thought the 4digit number followed by the decimal was the coords of there log in but it turns out when i log in at say 056-056 on the map the .RPT file hasn't got any numbers to even come close to this number, So we are a bit confused now and unsure how to prove this and read the .RPT file and keep playing by ROCKETS and the DAYZ team's rules for hosting a server. If anyone could help me and let me know how to find the coords of logins so we can stop these guys from ghosting on out server i would be mighty happy. Thanks in advance James. -
Awesome, Rocket says OK to private hives! This makes me happy.
Oddzball replied to Oddzball's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It would be so easy to link all these private hives though. Frankly I like 1 hive per sever, it prevents a lot of exploits such as ghosting and duping. -
Yep, this mod is dying
spliff (DayZ) replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
topics that say game "xyz" is dying are ALWAYS wrong. edit: exactly the other way 'round. we need official servers with clear rules, free of hackers, free of "you killed me so imma ban you!" server-owners and free of server-hoppers for loot or ghosting. the standalone will make everything better. -
In the same vein I would sincerely suggest adding a killlog that allows you to see who killed you and where that person was (killshot cam for example), possibly with a few minutes delay or something like that so it can't be abused for ghosting. The argument and chance that there are server admins who might abuse this info to take revenge on people is ridiculously small compared to the benefit of being able to identify/track the scum who sees and kills you through walls and entire buildings.

You bring tents to a near by location you'll be logging over to attack other people. You leave the tents on your server. Basically you bring a whole new meaning to ghosting. -
www.5thelement.torlaunch.com Welcome to the 5th Element general information and recruitment thread. This thread has been created to prevent information from being spread all across the forums, and will contain all the latest news and updates about 5th Element in one compiled "All you need to know'" thread. Officially originated as a Tera Online guild in May 2012, 5th Element added a DayZ branche in July and as a result it grew exponentially and continues to do so. What started out as a public Teamspeak hub for fellow players to meet and group up, quickly evolved into a structured organization. While we may have evolved, the original "open door" policy for the teamspeak server will never change. Wether you want to find some fellow survivors around the globe to group with or just hang out and chat a bit, everyone is still welcome at all times. You can even use our teamspeak to create seperate channels for you and your friends only. Some may call us a clan, guild, team, squad or community, we simply refer to ourselves as 5th. While we are not a leaderless organisation. the 5th Element will always aim to keep it's members and guests as free from restrictions as possible. Effectively allowing them to enjoy their games in the way they enjoy most. We are a international community with members from all around the globe, set in a democratic environment. All 'Major' decisions will be decided upon by internal polls. No matter where your from or what you look like, everyone is equal. As the organisation grows you may find some members empowered with additional rights. This does not effect their 'importance' at all, as their votes and voices will have the same volume as those of a newcomer on it's first day. Please bear in mind that some situations might require instant adjustments, therefore the 5th Administration team holds the right to edit or modify any rule or regulation without prior notice. This will only happen rarely, and you can be sure of it that the person(s) involved had good reasons for doing so. 5th Element Teamspeak Server nl6.ts3.instantvchat.com:10918 No password required *Slots will increase once needed. Press the button below to donate. Thank you! *All donations that go over the required monthly costs will go to the next month* While we much rather refer and limit them to general guidelines, certain boundaries must be in place. Some may be rules, some are guidelines while others are just tips and suggestions. Below you will find a compiled list of the general behavior that is requested, aswell as a description explaining them. 5th Element 1. Maturity and common sense. As it is 5th Element's policy to keep limits to a minimum, we do not impose a age limit. We have members from all cultures around the world, and while there is a higher probability a older person is more mature, it is definatly not defined by age. We do expect our members to resolve situations in a mature and appropiate manner, using their common sense to the best of their ability. There is a flipside to this 'All age' policy, since we do not limit our members profanity either. Upon joining or using any of the 5th Element services, you may be subject to abusive language, 18+ discussions or any other form of communication that may offend you. The 5th Element withdraws itself from any responsebility in this area, and exercises a 'own risk' policy. Often one just needs to get a thicker skin, but in extreme cases for example racism or legal issues, measures can be taken. All issues can be thrown up and open for discussion on our forums. Again, common sense. 2. Be friendly, patient and show respect. 5th Element is a new(bie) friendly organisation. Not everyone has aquired as much knowledge of a game or any other mechanic as you do, we therefore ask you to be friendly and patient when someone runs into a issue. We are all human beings, wich also means people can have a shitty day and we dont expect them to smile all the time. You can be who you are, and if things dont work out simply take a step back and try again later, or look for a other solution. Communication is key here. 3. Ability to speak English. As we are international, we can expect people to less adept at our main language for communication. To some people, English may be a 2nd,3rd or even 4th language. This is perfectly fine, aslong as people can understand what's being said. Out of respect to others we also speak English in any form of public communication, like Teamspeak and Forums. People are allowed to talk in their native language if there are no other people present, or they have clearly stated they do not mind. However, it is advised that you simply create a temporarely channel if you feel the need to speak in your native language. 4. Short, clear communication and use of appropiate channels. As the membercount and teamspeak users increased we quickly experienced a clusterfuck in our main lobby channel. Having 20 people in a channel spread across the map trading goods, asking questions and calling out enemy positions obviously does not work all that great. We have therefore implended tons of specific channels, make use of them. I'm not saying it's not possible, as we had large amount of players in the same channel with perfect communication. It is up to the users wether to cut down on the chit-chat and use short/clear communication or simply join a different channel for the time being. 5. Fair and legit gameplay. Surely we are not saints and have made smart use of certain glitches or faulty game mechanics. However, we will never make use of hacks, exploits or cheats that have a direct influence on other people's gameplay experience. This includes but not limited to: Alt+F4, ghosting, 3rd party programs, admin abuse etc. As upcoming server admins we promote a fair and equal gameplay experience for everyone. Since we are not completely in control and have eyes and ears everywhere, people are encouraged to state their issues on our forums. 6. Activity. Pretty self explanatory, be a active part of our community. We all have our responsebilities and duties to take care of. So we do not mandate a required hours online. Play with us whenever you can and want to, no strings attached. We do appreciate it however if you leave a short notification if your about to make a 6-month world trip. Also, it is highly suggested you visit our forums on a regular basis to stay up to date on all the latest news, events and updates. 5th Element is currently running 1 active event(s). 5th Element Combat Rescue Operations If you like to play in a group, hang out and make friends and approve of the way we go about things, you have come to the right place. Due to the huge amount of enthusiasts,we have intensified our application methods. It may require a bit of work, but to many it has been worth the effort - and then again, what kind of members do you think we are looking for? ;) Step 1. Write up a application as a reply to this thread, or on our own forums located here For easy acces you can use the optional format below (This has 0% influence on the probability of acceptance) Keep in mind this is your first impression, it's better to review it once than to do a quick half-assed job. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, a server admin will add you to the 5th DayZ try-out group and a tag will be added behind your name. Step 4. Hang around our teamspeak and forums, make friends, play and have fun. Step 5. After approximately a week (Depending on activity) a internal vote will be held that all current members can vote upon. This poll will run for approximately 2 days and should you have the majority of the votes by the end of this period, there is only one thing left to say,- Congratulations, you are now officially 5th! Reddit Rescue Force Gets Royally Served
NoahInVirginia replied to 62nd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Basically it comes down to this. Yes, you were trying to do something for the RRF community buy building a base, we can see that. The problem is you chose to build it in the middle of Elektro right near the harbor, which is a heavily trafficked area. You also made it way too public and way too easy for bandits like us to get the drop on you. Also, I like how you bring up the point " This is a video game, it's damn pixels." I 100% agree with you, but your anger shows that you may be taking this just a little too seriously. Like you said, it's just a game, everybody is going to play it differently. We played against you very fairly, there was no ghosting, and no hacking ( until everybody got teleported at the end, we have no idea who did that.) It was by far the most fun I've had in this game since purchasing it. And the fact that we were able to get a spy into your teamspeak made it all the better. Once again, thank you for being good players, you guys put up a good fight. We all enjoyed ourselves and would gladly go up against the RRF again. Also, I think the largest mistake made on the RRF's part besides location was the fact that all of your overwatch was watching the hills/roads, not the coast. And your guy with the L85 was just standing on a building out in the open, made himself a very very easy target. -
Alright, <Rant> So here it is. One of my new favorite games, Day Z. I'm a sniper by heat, people can tell that about my YouTube videos from the past. Now, tell me. How can a sniper, be a sniper when people keep fucking spawning in behind him with M16's and killing you. It may be Ghosting, but I'm sure it's this : 1. People know where snipers like I go, because it gives us snipers a good vantage point on the city, like no other spot. 2. They decide they want to go "Sniper Hunting" 3. They join random servers behind the spot where snipers in ghillie suits lie. 4. They get free kills, and can loot the sniper for his .50 Cal and anything else important, and LEAVE instantly. ------ ATOC: Another reason why I can't snipe in Day Z, is because how ATOC works. Honestly, I think ATOC should be ON All Grass + Trees 24/7. When its DISABLED... You can, see through trees, bushes, less grass shows, the ground is more plain, and it is easier to sot a more "high definition" player model AKA Wearing a Ghillie suit. ------- Ghosting is another bullshit story. </rant> 1072 Letters of text. I'm sure any other snipes can relate to this matter. This is the 7TH time I've died by someone spawning in behind me... and killing me.

admin is cheating what a suprise
Groner1661 replied to Dakiraloril's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Thermal M4A1 was found in a tent at Black Mountain, you guys really must like this "Filipe" guy or something. Don't really care what others do, as long as its not a deliberate exploit. Again, we were kicked by the admin for no apparent reason. This put us on alert. My cousin logging out and "ghosting" after death really doesn't concern me after that. I'm sorry that Dak misrepresented what was actually going on. We asked him not to post any accusations without proof. I don't necessarily believe the admin was cheating or hacking. Why would an admin need to? They can pretty much do whatever they want. Hey, they paid for it. But if they are going to be listed publically I expect to be treated fairly by the admin. EDIT: L85, not M4A1, Derp. -

That was May, this is August. What sucks is that ghosting is allowed in the current rules. :(
