Neither do cows or sheep or pigs, my point is in a post apocalyptic world there will come a day when there are millions of functioning horses and no functioning vehicles

Horses do breed but they don't just simply pop out full size and ready to ride, especially if you're aiming at realism you wouldn't just simply be able to go through a saddle on one and ride it as they're untamed and would play up and run off at the first chance they got. As for cars Chernarus has a city meaning people lived there in most places there'd be a huge amount of vehicles to take after the world was infected and a huge amount of places you could get things that cars need such as oil etc.

i think they fit into the dayz universe better than mechanical vehicles. Horses are animals, they only need food and water to keep 'running' whereas vehicles need parts, oil, water, brake fluid, fuel and expertise to keep them running. Also horses breed providing a never ending supply of other horses to replenish those that die, after an apocalypse there ain't gonna be no car factories churning out new models.

I was playing in a server and the owner was playing, he had m249 scoped and a backpack (which i think is impossible) and he was spawning in and repairing vehicles. is he hacking or can the owners just do this. i was on panthera btw

@Admin - In all honesty it doesn't matter 2 me that much because I don't plan on playing on that server again. It very well seems like you may have hackers & I think they might be part of the A-Team clan who plays on it. However, I don't know for sure I am just saying you need to check them out closer. As for checking server files for hackers I do think you need to do a bit more research before banning people. I am not insulting your intelligence at all, I had no idea about a ton of things until I did lots of research for my DayZ Server. It will help you locate the real hackers more accurately and make fair bans so you don't have issues like this in the future :] Anyway, I do understand stopping hackers can be rather tedious. We have our issues with them as well. So definitely understand where you were coming from. I guess the biggest thing that made me post this was the vehicle hoarding part. Our group likes to get geared up for any situation and make a good camp. We spend countless hours looting >_> COUNTLESS HOURS lol. We like to have multiple of everything just in case one of us dies or breaks a vehicle. It makes sense that in a real world "DayZ" you or I would hoard vehicles/supplies as well. I think in the future if you want people to play on your server you should mention your own rule about vehicles. MOTD - Limit 1 vehicle per person or w/e lol. Seems silly but its your prerogative. If we had known of this rule earlier we would have never joined your server. Well thats that. In the mean time I wish you all good luck and here is hoping for the standalone soon!! :D Even though we probably have a few months for it yet. =( -

Server Administrator Attacking Other Servers.

I'm not as worried about my server stats as I am empathetic to the players who spend countless hours during the week gearing up, then log in a little late on Sat. or Sun. and ALL their vehicles have been stolen, teleported or blown up... I don't take it too seriously and realize it's a game, but it's not a fun game when you work hard and others come in and ruin it in minutes... Being a "good admin" on a public server is quite literally impossible... The ONLY option you have is custom building a tool that DL's the logs and analyzes them with a LOT of intelligence... I stay logged in and get killed 3 or 4 times before I can pin down who's doing what... smart hackers don't do things that get caught in the logs as a typical. Vet servers mean no matter how many times the guy runs up on me I have no clue who he is. And getting into the logs and figuring it out takes time... I have just loaded up all the updated scripts Dwarden posted (which was awesome of him) but even after reading the threads I'm not entirely clear on what it's logging how to interpret it and why there are no tools to live access them parse them or intelligently act on them... I don't care if it means I never get to play on my server again, I want to be able to spectate with a scroll option for kick/ban for the player I'm viewing... it's easy and there is NO reason it shouldn't be available... BE always requests or prefers at least recording of the cheating for extra proof... so there you go. Admins run Fraps kick/ban players after having viewed them cheating for 20-40 seconds instead of spending 5-10 minutes finding out who the hackers are... and lets also not forget that there are TONS of hacker tag alongs and fanboys... who end up with tons of BS stuff they shouldn't have... Inventory review option would be great too... but all I'm asking for is spectator... I have not been able to play this game on a weekend in MONTHS.. the ONLY salvation I have is our hi pop server is in the same time zone as me so at night it's MUCH less busy and prone to attack... -

Its discovery is a temperature system and food scarcity. You need to keep your hands steady, you have to pay for visiting high-reward places, and it introduces the whole new gameplay element. I mean, technically it's possible to get sick in Chernarus, but in reality it doesn't play any significant role there. Unfortunately, military bases and mountains in general aren't critical in Namalsk, because you can find a weapon literally everywhere (but still, they offer a high reward). Theoretically, the temperature system could be used for keeping deathmatch levels at minimum and concentrating on survival, but Namalsk is too small for that. Also, most, if not all, Namalsk servers seem to run in easy mode - nameplates, daylight only, starting weapons, tons of vehicles and all that. This is what I just don't understand. Scattering critical locations away from each other (for example, matches and antibiotics can be obtained in different parts of the map) also looks like a nice feature, because it stimulates traveling. Again, the map is just too small for that, and there are too many bottlenecks. You can easily snipe at the dam without worrying about temperature or anything other. Somehow that doesn't prevent some people escaping from an AS50 hit unharmed with Alt-F4 -_- (seriously, I've hit the guy with .50 once, I saw the blood myself, he DCed instantly, and I've got no murder. Truly an amazing reaction time) -

I think this really needs to be addressed. Recently my friends found a server that you can buy bases, starter gear and vehicles on. This is fucking ridiculous. Today my friends decided to attack a base we'd found, they have a gas station, helicopters,Urals and even BARRACKS! Does this not completely defeat the purpose of the game? Shit yeah it does! Their members are all geared to the teeth, obviously. We killed one guy who had 6 range finders and 6 pairs of night vision goggles on him... There are also rules that surround these bases, you aren't allowed to destroy the base or vehicles, you're not allowed to take any of the vehicles. The starter gear is pretty messed up as well, if you pay $60 (AUS Dollars) you can spawn with - 60 - Supreme package: Weapons: M14 aim - 3 Mags M9SD - 4 Mags Inventory: Cooked Steak 2 Water Bottle's Range Finder Night Vision Goggles Map Compass Watch Military flashlight Hatchet Matches Medical Supplies: 4 Bandages 1 Painkillers 2 Morphine 1 Bloodbag Backpack: Alice Backpack Extra items inside of backpack: 1 Painkiller 1 Morhpine 1 Epinephrine 1 Heatpack 3 Cooked Steak 2 Water Bottles 2 Pepsi Something seriously needs to be done about this... When playing DayZ, there are 2 things I like more than anything, tents and vehicles. For tents it's simply because they allow me to stay away from actual zombie areas and instead roam the forests and loot stuff that people have worked hard to acquire. As for the vehicles, it's just that I love them, both IRL and in game. So, since I like those 2, I'd like them improved. Let's start with the tents. Current tent system is a bit too limited, so I though of expanding it a bit. In addition to tents we need stashes. Stash is exactly what the name implies, a (almost) hidden place you can put stuff in. First you need either hatchet or knife to create the stash. When you have either of those, you can go to any spot outside buildings or paved areas and create stash. Once created, it will disappear in one hour unless there are items inside. Empty stash will be just a little pile of sticks and foliage, but as soon as you start putting items inside, it starts to become bigger and more easy to spot. Another downside with stashes is that every hour there is a possibility of loosing item stored there. Therefore it wouldn't stand as a long time storage like tent. There's of course the possibility of adding items that would lessen the possibility of item loss (different bags, etc.). So, the stash system would not replace tents, since tents are still there as long term storage, but instead they would add to it by adding a short term storage that could be created easily. Then to the vehicles, the idea of vehicle breakdown. This is actually an old idea of mine, but I couldn't find any post about it, so apparently I never posted it here. When you drive your car around, there would always be the possibility of vehicle breakdown. If possible, the game should track the time or distance driven since the last repair and base the possibility on that. There would be 2 kinds of breakdowns, minor and major. Let's start with minor: Effects: Vehicle speed reduced to something like 10-20 km/h When driving the engine would take constant damage. Very, very slowly, but still some. Increased possibility of major breakdown. Fixed simply by using a toolbox to fix the car. Would take something like 15-30 secs. Then the major breakdown: Effects: Vehicle would stop Vehicle would let out a cloud of smoke. Not quite as visible as the one that comes when a vehicle is destroyed, but something similar. Fixing would require a toolbox and engine parts and would take longer, maybe 45-60 secs. There's also possibility of adding new item "spare parts" to be used for repairing or another possibility of making the item required random (Engine parts/scrap metal/spare parts/empty can) (Empty cans can be used to fix exhaust damage IRL)

Hmmm. maybe the truck was moved onto something, I have seen several vehicles explode from glitching ontop of small items.
