So I host a server and I recently have been reading the change logs of the newest patch. I noted that the AH6X and Mi17 are now 'unbanned' and have seen many videos and such of them being flown or found in DayZ. My question is, do I need to 'enable' these vehicles on my server, or will they spawn into the server by default? Or, are these for only Private Hive servers? Thanks ~Pineiro

What's the best way to keep a sever populated?

Since I have bought a server I have been wonder on how to keep a server populated. I named it a good name, I guess...nice amount of vehicles and a epic load-out, but I don't know how to keep it active. That's is my only problem, any ideas on how to, please let me know Server | | \/ -

Hey everyone that would like to play on this server, Kurmuh so called active admins admin abuse there powers. They give themselves weapons and vehicles all day long, I started complaining and ended up recieving a ban on the server and called a fag multiple times. I do not apreciate this and I hope this does not stand. Either find new 9 year old admins or I am never coming back to the server.

A recently rebooted server is looking for new mature members and avid roleplayers to enhance the REAL DayZ experience and provide some extra diversity to the current player base. About us: Many of the current server members are ex-military from seperate countries which include: US, UK, and Poland. I'd like to contribute a few ideas for enriching the gameplay experience, having it make sense within the DayZ world, without making it too much like an MMO. Being able to put "odds & ends" together to make useful items. Examples: Empty Whiskey Bottle + Gas Tank = Gas Filled Bottle + Rag + Matches = Molotov Shoe Laces or String + Wood + Grenade = Trip Wire Mine Shoe Laces or String + Wood + Empty Cans = Trip Wire Alarm System Axe to harvest limbs and branches from nearby bushes & trees + String = Makeshift camo to cover your vehicles & cars at your campsite What I think will make this system of putting items together VERY Robust, and enticing for players... is having hundreds of combinations available to make a large slew of useful items. Let the community figure out these combinations on their own. Ultimately, if you provide the ability for items to be put together in random configurations that create items or effects that aren't expected, it will add volumes of content to the game. Add various items together to create in-game games like checkers or chess (I really love this one, imagine being able to over time carve game pieces, and or a board, then actually play these games with your friends at your camp.) -- I can't stress enough how much enjoyable content just having in-game games would add to the game outside of the standard survive or kill/be kill parts of the game. Because in a real survival scenario, once you've learned to survive, humans will try to create some of their familiar human comforts back into their life.. Add various items together to create moonshine.. Add various items together to make musical instruments Add various items together to customize your vehicles Add various items together to make your own drinks (teas, juices etc..) Add various items together to make traps Add various items together to make war paint, or tribe symbols Create Signs out of paper or wood The list of possibilities goes on and on. As of tonight I have hosted a server for myself and some friends and would like to spread the word so that it can populate and form a mature community server. As of now there are still a few unscheduled restarts going on as I sort out the final details but for the most part it's up and running. Custom building locations will be added in the future to give the map a different feel from other maps. The vehicle spawning is definately not working correctly in .eu, lots of allowed vehicles are not spawning for me. I haven't had time to investigate it though. Go to the changelogs for both and compare which I think is suggested in one of the threads I linked... .eu has LOTS of cool features... Grave stones instead of deadbodies Grave stones can be destroyed Zombies only fall to head shots Zombies spawn and can damage vehicles Once windows are busted players in vehicles take damage from Zombies I like it a LOT it's the first map that's made me want to leave Chernarus.

Very well planned out but try to be more descriptive with "what it takes to survive." Do you mean you will be bandits, friendlies, holing up as an organized group or nomads with vehicles? Let them know. -

Dayz.st has a map feature where you can watch players, not sure if that's active if it's a public hive or not. You could use a log parser to do the same thing live though if you have FTP access and the expertise to write it... or like mentioned above you can simply run "hacks" as the admin in order to see whats going on. Frankly I see nothing wrong with it if there isn't abuse, but if there is then it's a HUGE problem and should be dealt with VERY seriously IMO. The truth is though even as an admin of 2 servers I'm powerless up against and in comparison to hackers on my own servers. I was on a server the other night where the admin got locked out of his own game becuase the hacker banned him lol... short of shutting down or restarting the server you are not very powerful as an admin. Even on the private hive DayZ.st Taviana server I run, I can only spawn repaired vehicles if I restart, and I can only change my loadout if I diconnect and reconnect, hackers can spawn choppers that aren't even allowed in game LIVE while the server is up and can give themselves god mode or assasinate people etc etc. I can't do any of that. I can ban people kick people adjust their load out if they log of and log back in, or spawn repaired vehicles if I'm willing to do a restart right then and there.... other than that not much, shit I can't even get some vehicles that are SUPPOSED to work to work on my map right now... I'm noobish though so I'm sure there are a LOT more experienced people that I'd love to hear chime in. -
Hello there My advice would be NOT to cheat or use any cheat tools, rather use any of the many mods which allow you to spawn vehicles etc. Check the BiS Forums or Armaholic. Rgds LoK

I'm having the same problem. Own a new official server (about two weeks old) and every time the server is restarted all the tents disappear and the time resets to 12:30pm... My server host is looking into this issue. Vehicles are spawning and remain where placed and keep the items placed in them. -

Hello all, this is my first story telling thread so please go easy :) I have been playing DayZ for a long time now, nothing gives me the same rush which I get from DayZ, but today has been one of the more fun gaming sessions I have ever had. I have recently made 2 of my friends buy the game as I was bored of wandering the wastelands alone. With them both being new, I had to go find them both and brought them back to Elektro to get suited up. We approached from the west and headed along the coast, coming across the ports and into the fire station near the church, we found an AK and a Makarov, with me being the more experienced I took the rifle. As we were on the ground floor waiting for a zombie to cross the street in front of us 2 shots from a DMR were fired which put me right on edge but thought that the shots were not aimed at us, until one whistled over my head, hitting the wall behind me. With haste we then made way to the church where we found a Winchester, which one of my friends took. We heard a zombie nearby get aggro'd and at first thought it was a glitch and one had seen us through a wall or something, but my friend saw someone in a ghillie suit stood there with a sniper rifle which he took a shot at with his winchester, tagging him on the leg, the guy ran off but we sat in the church prepared for an attack. 5 Minutes rolled past and there was no sign of movement or any sign of an attack so we rushed out the door ensuring we weren't going to be ambused by anyone and ran into a nearby house, quickly dispatching any zed's that had foolishly chased us, here we found a crossbow and some bolts, so with the 3 of us armed we were ready to move out of Elektro. My next destination in mind was Mogilevka (if that is what it is called) so we pushed north through Elektro through the back alleys checking for any signs of our escaped sniper or anyone else that we thought would be trouble, sniper shots rang off again but these did not seem to be aimed at us so we continued on our way. We were approaching the supermarket, and I was well aware that the hills on the left and right of the power station are popular spots for snipers so we ran inside the supermarket hoping for the best, I advised my friends to stay away from any of the open doors in the back because I felt we were being watched. We managed to get 2 Alice packs (I already had one previously) so both my friends had one, we also found a map, compass and 2 hunting knives, stocked up on food and drink then began planning our escape. By mistake one of my friends opened one of the back doors which must have attracted a sniper on the outskirts as immediately sniper fire began pinning my friend to the wall, he managed to run out of the room and we regrouped in the main entrance room of the market then quickly ran towards the coast, leading any following walkers into a house, killing them off as they bottlenecked through the door. Once all was calm we flanked round past the docks once more on the west side of Elektro, heading up one of the sniper hills carefully to not get spotted. We were finally free of the troubles of the major cities and headed for Mogilevka. After a good 20 minute run we finally arrived, quickly looting 3 buildings, gathering mainly food and more ammo, we pushed North-West to Stary Sobor. We looted the military tents finding an M4, DMR and AK-47 Kobra. I took the Kobra and put the DMR and 2 mags in my pack for later use, we then decided to head out to the NE airfield, upon leaving Stary Sobor, we found a crashed heli which we couldn't believe, we killed off any zombies nearby finally going in to claim our reward, unfortunately it seemed someone else had spotted it before us and beat us to it. Pushing East for roughly 10 minutes, we came across ANOTHER crashed heli and this we could not believe, mainly because of how close the 2 were together and how lucky we were to find them both! Hoping for better loot than the last one, we again took out all the nearby zombies and moved in, nothing exciting found just alot of medical supplies, which of course are useful so we packed up the blood bags, morphine and painkillers and moved on. We continued NE for a good while until I managed to get us lost, we pushed through many a random forest keeping an eye out for any tents we could loot, but we spotted a break in the trees with what looked to be a main road, heading in that direction we could not believe our eyes once we approached the crown of the hill, a Truck hidden amongst the trees, with ammo, medical supplies, food and some parts for vehicles all in the back. I jumped into the driver seat just to find out the Truck was running on empty, luckily the previous owners were nice enough to leave us 2 full jerry cans in the truck which we put to use. The truck itself was in pretty bad shape but the parts we needed were not in the back of the vehicle so we carried on as we were. After a while I finally found out where we were and we were back on track to the NE airfield. Not knowing whether any players were there, we parked up not too far away with 1 of my friends guarding the truck, the other 2 of us grabbed the 7 empty fuel cans in the back of the truck and made our way up to the airfield on foot. We scouted the area to find it was clear, so filled up the cans, checked the area for loot, but nothing exciting was found so we scurried back to the truck to fill her up. We moved the truck up to the airfield to fill up the cans we had used to fill the truck to the brim. It was then getting dark on the server so we decided to hide the truck and call it a day. Tomorrows mission is to travel to berezino and look for the parts we need. May not sound much, but it is certainly the best amount of luck I have ever had in one sitting of DayZ. Now that the debug screen is gone, and I have no measure of kills, what on earth am I supposed to do? I'm on Day 119, I have an L85A2, an AS50, a Ghillie Suit, an M9SD, all the toolbelt equipment and plenty of food and drink running in the forests. I have no way of knowing if I've killed someone anymore, and the zombie kills are the only things counted on the scoreboard - but I don't need to go near zombies because I don't need to go scavenging in towns. So what do I do? I could build a vehicle, but that just makes me a target, not to mention, most of the vehicles are hidden in the back of beyond. Even if I successfully built a car, what would I do with it? Go hunting in the forest with a Ute? I'm really struggling to know why I should continue to play this. It was so much fun when I first got it, and I put weeks into playing, not always killing, but the scoreboard made it more measurable. I'd suggest Debug gets returned until some sort of mission/quest system gets implemented. Until that happens, this is a game without a point.

Yep, my 2 sons actively play the game with me... Got sick of the unclean language and sidechat on other servers so started my own through Dayz.st... That never fixed the issues lol. They like to hunt bandits or anyone who shoots at them first. They also like to move around and deliver vehicles using the heli lift/cargo features we modded in... Stop by and check out the server one day, you need rMod to play with the cooler vehicles. -
So without any knowledge in how the ArmA engine works or how scripting works or how the battleeye client is bypassed or that there already is a "banned item" list on servers that is somehow bypassed to (because they know how it works) you come with a proposal that would be one solution to the hacking problem? It's simple really, there's a lot of things happening on a server that is part of the normal operation of the mod. Hackers will find ways to abuse that even if they might not be able to spawn items outside the range of valid items they will still spawn an AS50, NVG's, rangefinder and all the other stuff for themselves and then use the map hacks and teleport commands in lieu with godmode and just headshot everyone for shits and giggles. At least when they clusterbomb cherno you know they are operating, it's the assholes (like a certain frankie) that try and hide the fact they are cheating that are the real problem and you can't really stop them easily because they (at least try to) blend in. The only way that i can see as a possible solution is to make the beclient binary compile differently for every single system making it impossible to inject their NOP codes (No operation) into the process that is designed to stop the injection of scripts in the global command chain in the first place. Then the beclient will stop 99% of all hacks used today. That still doesn't stop the remaining cheats like decryption of the network traffic and decoding of the data sent between client and server. (Which allows them to draw a map of all players, vehicles and tents on the map as well as heli crash sites and anything else you can think of that exists as an object in the game) But once again, if the hackers really want to hack they will find the offset in the randomly compiled beclient too and inject none the less. In other words, they will always be one step ahead of any countermeasures you take. Which leaves the only option that has ever worked well... A diligent server admin catching the cheaters and banning them manually. You can also join a strict whitelisted server, thus making it too much work for a cheater to join. For instance, there is one server here where you have to leave your social security number to join it. I doubt any cheater would be willing to provide that to hack on that server because god knows what's going to happen to such a person IRL if found out to be cheating... *BOOM, HEADSHOT*

But you can spawn loot through the Vehicle map by simply spawning a Custom Vehicle (entering in a ammo crate classname) and then manually adding inventory to that item via the DB. By modifying the dayz_mission.pbo I have managed to add a heli lift script (to lift vehicles/cargo) and a cargo script so you can load atv's/motorbikes and small vehicles into certain planes and helis. There is also lots of information for Dayz.ST server owners at opendayz.com -

This got his curiosity up for some reason since he didn't kill me.... after i ran away from him, he teleported me a few feet in the air which broke my legs. Then he started to spam voice commands at me which are only possible in ArmA2 (greetings "English").
