Have you ever had a good play?
S1ippery Jim replied to samzerks88's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really don't understand how people can feel this way about DayZ. I have been playing it regularly since it came out, I would estimate at more than 1000 hrs played and every game is a new adventure for me. There is no limit except your own imagination. I have played games where I have scoured every corner of bleak low population servers while exploring new maps, only to die lonely bleak deaths at the hands of zombies hordes in the frozen wastelands of Thirsk, I have been shot down with squad members embroiled in multiple helicopter dogfights over the skies of Taviana. I have been gunned down brutally by helicopters while attempting to raid crash sites in the jungles of Lingor and killed by packs of Bloodsuckers in Namalsk. I have died from EVR events while driving with low blood level in Namalsk, died from hypothermia in Namalsk, killed by camping bandits at Object A2 in Namalsk...generally died a lot in Namalsk lol. I have also mixed things up by raiding camps in the far north of Chernarus, stealing their Satchel Charges and selecting targets to blow up when unsuspecting survivors enter them (NW airfield Barracks, Devils Castle, NE Airfield Air Traffic Control Tower etc). I have tried my hand at sniping in Chernarus and Electro and the NW airfield as well as at Stary (until I realised I didn't have the patience for it). I have attempted to get 1000 zombie kills in one session after hoarding stacks of ammunition and weapons for weeks for the attempt, only to die 50 kills short in Cherno town square. I have attempted to drive a vehicle around the racetrack in Taviana only to have the attempt go very badly indeed. I have attempted to escape zombies in a boat only to realise they could actually swim faster than the boat itself. I have found, fixed and repaired every single vehicle in the game from scratch. I have trolled newbies by picking them up in PBXs and stranding them on remote islands. I have found my character overcome by the urge to dance uncontrollably in the middle of raiding the NW airfield (hacked) I have discovered an option in scroll menu while sitting at a campfire to 'play guitar' and played guitar music, only to find I couldn't stop playing the music (hacker/glitch?). I have sailed a PBX off the edge of the map and kept going over an invisible ocean. I have shot down an airplane in Taviana. I have fallen off the roof of a hospital and survived by hitting a fence on the way down. I have crawled for 45 mins until I found Morphine to heal a broken leg. A friend and I found two bicycles and staged a 'tour de Chernarus' circuit of the map. I could go on and on but really I never get bored of DayZ and every game is a fresh adventure where almost anything could happen. That said, if you don't enjoy playing a game, don't force yourself, go and play something you do enjoy. Just because somethings cool and popular doesn't mean its for you. -
Haha reminds me of one time that I pull out my miked up acoustic guitar in direct communication eating beans around the fire with a couple of friends . I was worried of getting shot while playing tho :D

Well, people do sing in ArmA 2 while flying to the LZ. So it is safe to assume they would do it while waiting for food to cook over campfire (cooking should really take longer than 3 seconds). Spacestation 13-like guitar that you can play with the notes you input (via textfile) would actually work too. Hahah... rape people @ gain humanity. I would love such systyem implemented. Not because I like raping people - but for the cynical cruelty this game is all about :P

I like most of what this said. Like i would totally love a flippin guitar especially since i play, i think it would be sick and a good way to get attention and make diversions. The sex part is what scares me, especially your mental health and along with the fact i rarely see women on the map and even then it's possible they are still men, so are you suggesting we all sleep nut to butt and have a sausage fest?
-
yep. this is my clear favorite. i can really see this being the standalone track. whitout the vocals it would fit perfectly for the "bandit" part of the game, but the lack of drama really doesnt fit for the generic survivor. while i dont think it should be the intro of the standalone, this should DEFENITELY be available to listen to in the game itself. imagine a bunker or bar or something... then you walk in and hear this... cant be more atmospheric/authentic than that. Edit: i found in a dayZ video, it doesnt fit as a standalone soundrack, but the lyrics and sound kinda define dayZ... this is the thing a survivor might sing on the campfire with a guitar, fully aware that he will die one day, and respawn some day...

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you to the DayZ community peeps for watching my videos. I started to blog my adventures with friends and random's only 4 months ago and after taking it seriously for a couple of months with some hardware upgrades on Sunday I reached over 75,000 views. To me that's just like I played a concert to everyone in Wembley stadium with my now redundant guitar hero controller. With the technology we have its possible to create a recorded gaming diary like no other. I got drunk with whiskey and friends in celebration! Also another thanks to the mods for putting up with my posts as its free advertisement and right now all I have is beans :D to give but if you at the local pub pints in order. Its all such good reading all the posts. Again to the creators of this fine mod and to be standalone where it brings out the best and worst in people which seems to make really good viewing :). Peace! Here is my very first video and yes something had to crash... its never my fault http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiBgxLNs4IA

Name: Marius In-game-name: [NO] TR1663R Age: 22 Location: Norway Kind of player: Depends, sometimes anti-banditing killing bandits that are hunting other people, other times just watching people inn my sniper scope thinking mentally "I could kill you" just to end upp laughing and not killing them. Just knowing I COULD have killed them is enough for me. So I guess I`m a wannabe bandit, but cant get myself to kill people for no reason :) Experience: 4 months I think. Cant remember, its been a while. Job: Unemployed looking for one atm, when I find one the times I can be online might change depending on work hours. Interests: Exotic fishes inn aquarium, playing guitar, gaming ofc since I was 4 years old and reading books. -
I've been using klesh in various forms since about 1999. I made it up, but funnily enough I think it means tick in Russian and is also a brand of guitars. As a player of guitars for over 20 years, I would love a klesh guitar for obvious reasons, but they just aren't my style of axe.

Yes it is! You can tell by the pier. I was there last week, great place for chilling plus they have the best guitar shop in England.

That's exactly the way I want to see crafting. Creating something useful out of shits and sticks. Exactly! I even spent about an hour playing games in Assassin's Creed III no matter they were singleplayer. If cooking will take time, spending it playing guitar, singing along (lol, yeah like every time we go to the LZ in a chinook in Arma2) or playing chess would be awesome. By the way, guitar can be made the way to was done in Spacestation 13 where notes were read from a txt file on your PC and played then as a tune - this way we'll heve different tunes all the time. -

I'm simply asking you to look past the survival aspect for a moment. People who tend to survive a long time will want to have their characters entertained. That could be anything from sitting around a campfire with your buds, with your own handmade guitar, and a full bottle of whisky for a change, to sitting back in some building you've commandeered playing your daily game of checkers with your best bud. So in this instance, making your own drinks is just an idea to add a bit of variety and depth.. take it with a grain of salt. -

What is the point of this game now?
DarkwaveDomina replied to LordHussyPants's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, we need the 'scoreboard' back. While we're at it we should probably implement kill streaks and have electric guitar riffs playing when you die or shoot somebody too. -

I would carry a guitar around to play even if it took up three inventory slots. If they added playing cards and chess into the game i would throw my money at the screen! -
Play that funky music - More leisure options

Would love to see some Acoustic Guitars added :D I think it would personally add in more immersion and make people not want to kill people.. I mean hell, who wants to kill a man playing a guitar around his campfire? -

(Original)Standalone close quarters struggle...
Steak and Potatoes replied to finkone's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If I wanted to button smash my keyboard I would just listen to metallica and pretend its a guitar. Cinematics are torture especially if its leading me into button smashing, If I could just walk up and punch a guy I would be more satisfied as I'd just do that for months more pub brawls in cherno . :emptycan: -
I await with baited breath. When we hit the road can I tune your guitar for you? I'm tone deaf but very keen.

Hey. I made this theme for Day Z 5-7 months ago and i re-mastered it a bit and decided to share it again for all the new players and all the old players too. When i made the theme (or musical interpretation of how i felt?? if you will), Day Z had 20 to 30,000 players and now there's a million+ and i still feel, that this game/mod has the best emotional aspect and it always makes me feel so inspired and immersed at the same time. Here's the URL and you're free to download it too if you want to. It's a quite large audiofile, 192000hz 24-bit WAV so it's about 200-250 megabytes of audio. https://soundcloud.c...-loneliness-day I don't know how to compose, or how to play anything. (a little guitar) But i still love making music. I hope you enjoy it, Sincerely.... Mr. Kaipio

If any of these have been suggested I apologize. I dont want to spend an hour searching for each topic. #1 Camo Netting: In arma 2 when you deploy a mobile base with a striker a camo netting tent is created around the vehicle. This would be a great way to better hide vehicles in the woods from those pesky heli's. #2 Craftables: Tree Stands - like the ones used by hunters, basically a small seat in a tree, perfect for scouts. Barracade Wall - using scrap metal, wood, and a tool box one could construct a section of pieced together wall. usefull for base protection. Pitfall Trap - A leaf covered hole in the ground to trap animals/players, would be detectable with a good eye and be able to be climbed out of if player hasnt broken a leg. #3 Quivers: Really wanted to love the crossbow but hate that every bolt takes up an inventory slot.... #4 More Tents: in addition to the pup tents in game there could be anything from 2 man dome tents to full sized military medical tents. #5 Vehicle Storage: Remove passengers being able to loot cars while riding shotgun. You should only be able to get into a vehicles intentory from the trunk/bed/storage area. I don't know about you but I dont keep my AS50 in the glovebox. #6 Predators: Rare but agressive animals. Bears, Cougars, Wolves, Chupacabre's :P #7 Social Interaction: Wide category, anything from drinking animations, playing a guitar around the campfire, playing poker, etc. It's a survival game but if you dont have some fun now and then you'll go nuts. #8 Voice Chat: Whisper, Say, and Shout. each having a different range of how far someone can hear you when using a mic/typing. These are just my opinions on what could make the best game I've ever played a little funner. If there is a reason why something couldnt work please feel free to state why.

Well, you see, my icon was an image God HImself descending from heaven shooting lightning out of hands, all while shredding the most holy of guitar rifts. Many died after viewing its glory. Then flying monkeys came. And they stole it. Damn them...
