if you want a huge map for pvp ( a lot of clans) and 1000+ vehicles... than go for Taviana ...I personnaly find it boring as hell and overachieving....Namalsk provides a much better unique and creepy atmosphere including its own background lore, a lot of cool military loot and pvp ( hot spots) but not so much to explore compared to Taviana...btw the Nuke Outs (emissions) and Blood Suckers can be disabled on serverside...I would go for Namalsk.... -

UK417 used to be public, but is now Private and whitelisted, it has a few more vehicles than default - but not excessive like a lot of the servers you see. It's not going anywhere any time soon, so consider making that your new home (you will have to apply for whitelisting) -

DayZ is great and all, but Chernarus in its current state is flawed in many ways. I don't think the other problems are worth mentioning as that's covered in just about every second topic on these forums. Most importantly, the map is too small. You may disagree, but after almost a year (and those who have actually played Arma), the map is learned and you end up knowing exactly where you are without much trouble. A larger map would keep the feeling of being lost for a much longer time and add a bigger sense of adventure to the game as well as making vehicles less redundant. A larger map with a vastly larger amount of players would add more 'endgame' in the sense of exploration and domination. Currently, If you leave the coast, there are generally two areas which players are funneled into, and those are Stary and NWAF, which renders the rest of the map completely worthless. Chernarus is too simple and player density isn't spread evenly; it lacks points of interest. No one is going to run for an hour to the north-east airstrip for a few military spawns when you can instead run through Elektro and obtain equal gear, even if you happen to die a couple times because of high player density. I want more points of interest such as Black Lake or Devil's Castle, that offer both scenery and reasons to visit them. This is something Taviana partially addresses, it offers significantly more locations that are interesting and rewarding, which in turn balances out the player density. If we take Devil's Castle or Black Lake as an example, they provide no reason to go there more than once to see the area. Cities. Again, way too simple, way too small. Taviana does it right, or at least takes a step in the right direction, Sabina is a great example of what I'd expect a city to look like. Most importantly, Cherno, Elektro and Berezino are all on the coast, this doesn't help balance player densities whatsoever and worsens the situation. The Chernarus atmosphere, environment and design fits the DayZ setting well and I'm quite pleased with that, however, the landscape does become slightly dull after some time because, in my opinion, it is too simple. I'd like to see different environments on a large map to keep the realism in place; introduce mountainous areas that are snowy, lakes of adequate size, and other scenic areas that not only provide nice scenery, but also offer rewards rather than field, treeline, field, treeline. I want vehicles to mean something, to serve a purpose. Right now it's safe to say that a bicycle is probably the best vehicle in the game, the only reliable vehicle in the game and the only vehicle that provides an actual benefit, the rest increase your chances of dying by a huge margin and are often not worth the risk. People complain about hoarding, but fail to realize that the moment you start driving it around, you're going to lose the vehicle. People also love to complain about PvP, again without realizing that currently, there is nothing left to do. There is no reason to work together, and no alternative endgame other than PvP. The worst part, that the map layout/loot distribution is so utterly flawed, that geared players are encouraged to focus on Cherno/Elektro/NWAF/Stary and have zero reasons to ever consider other areas when in search of PvP. This only encourages players to go camp on a hill and wait for the predictable victim to arrive in one of the few locations mentioned earlier, and personally, I don't think that should be encouraged further, because randomly spotting other players while travelling and dealing with the situation accordingly is more interesting, and this is coming from someone who snipes Elektro with a .50 cal on a frequent basis. In short, I'd like Chernarus to be significantly bigger with vastly more scenery spread across the entire map. I don't want the game to consist of loot Elektro/Cherno, move to Stary and NWAF, done. -

the whole point of the suggestion is to make the anti-materiel rifles less OP. Right now, they dominate the gameplay because they have all the upsides - high scope zoom, semi-auto, perfectly accurate, zero-able to any effective range, ammunition comes in lots of 5 and 10, kills with one shot, and can destroy vehicles, and literally absolutely no downsides. If you have a DMR and find an anti-materiel rifle, you don't think 'well this is for vehicles. I want to shoot players'. You think 'this thing kills everything better than any other weapon ever.' They simply aren't balanced. the best anti-vehicle shouldn't be the best anti-personelle. -

If we are still comparing to real life, those rifles are about 30-50 pounds, and running around with it would make you extremely soar and tired. And the 50.CAL. Rounds are kind of retarded, they are ANIT-MATERIAL (FOR VEHICLES) if you ghit a human with it there would be a 8x8 inch hole in there chest.... -

Nice straw-man arguments. Actually make some points or shut up, please. As for the only point you did actually make, about the damage models? Sure. A chest-shot or a gut-shot from a .50 would kill you. but shooting you in the pinkie or the big toe would not. And when any hit anywhere on your body at any range takes you instantly from 12,000 blood to -20,000, that's a LITTLE BIT OP. I definitely don't think that helicopters should be made more overpowering. But when the weapons designed for counteracting helicopters and vehicles ridiculously skews the survivor/survivor firefights, I think it's time for a change. Even making it able for us to shoot the pilot. That'd be fine. the AS50 seems overpowered against a helicopters considering it can wreck them with one magazine, from a ghillie-suited guy sitting under a tree half a mile away. Or on a rock. Or behind a bush. Or prone in the shallow water at the edge of a lake. Or on top of a building. You get the gist of where I'm going with this. -

I play on a private hive called Aldeon. The vehicles are rare, but the admins are bit ban happy. The server is generally friendly. -
I'm pretty curious about how that works, to have dogs ride in vehicles. (All are passenger only) *Motorcycles/Bicycles [X] *ATVs [X] *Boats [✓] *Sedans [✓] *Planes [?] *Helicopter [✓] *Trucks [✓] *Vans [✓] -- Maybe reenact Scooby Doo? ;) I also got a suggestion about dogs, I'm curious if there will be medical conditions that they can suffer like humans. Like breaking a bone or getting some type of illness?

I'm thinking that we keep the guns, but make the ammo as rare as vehicles. We still need something to take out helis with, they are otherwise invincible. That way, the only time you're killed by an anti material rifle is if your in a vehicle, or if some dude has been saving up his ammo for a romp through Cherno. -
I like the idea, should be expanded upon to be able to 'scavenge' these things from homes and load them into certain vehicles so you can bring them to the bunker/base to set up.

I plan to study and learn how to do the specifics, but i would like to get the server up and running ASAP. Well the vote has increased to Chernarus, and someone offered me a chance for a private hive server with 300+ vehicles, daylight 24/7, and an average of 15 players online, so message me (reference this post) on what your opinion on this is.

Game Crashing/Freezing Upon Engaging Another Player

Hey, I have been playing the DayZ mod for several weeks now without any problems However, I decided to give the Wasteland mod a go as it looked pretty cool and its basiclly just DayZ without the zombies. Anyway I have been suffering major game/system freezes with both mods The game seems to freeze whenever I engage another player or zombie, I can drive vehicles about, interact with people, everything. But as soon as I go to fire a weapon at someone my game freezes and locks up the computer. The only way I can then get out of the game is to press the power button on the case and hope I can get to the cancel button on the force restart overlay before it shuts down Has anyone heard of this before or know what I could do to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks This can be deleted - sorry for inconvienience, didn't search forum first -

Namalsk used to reign supreme because of the map size, however with the ton of crap that was added (nuke-thingy, bloodsuckers) it just plain isn't fun anymore. Taviana is my favorite map because of the constant player contact, several airfields, and crap ton of vehicles. -
Hello everyone, my name is Brennan and I am one of 4 admins on my DayZ server. We have 100+ ground vehicles 10+ helicopters, custom loadout, and active admins. We are looking for people to play on our server, Bandits and Heros are encouraged. We are currently working on adding custom skins and implimenting donation perks to get a ts going. Not asking much just give us a shot and a promise you won't be dissapointed. I love Taviana, when there are enough people online, it makes for a great PvP server because of the large number of vehicles. I have begun playing Taviana exclusively for about a month. My clan and I really loves it. -

We have map markers already, and once I picked up a map from a dead guy whose map had a marker in it, so most of that part is done already (if anyone would be stupid enough to mark his tent). Loot a map, get his treasure. Instead of gold coins, you just get AS50s and NVGs, vehicles etc. I already see a YouTube video coming about this.
