Look for a server that advertises PVE only if you want to cooperate. I played for a few months last year, then my comp broke and I didn't play for about 2 months. Now that I am bacvk, I am finding a lot less KOS PVP going on in chernarus because many players are going to other maps. Also you can find low pop servers too. When I log in to a low pop server, I announce on side chat wher I am, I'm a new spawn and that I dont PVP. Most people like that and will leave you alone as long as you are no threat to them. Many offer to help with rides in vehicles and equipment. Try US911 server. I have been playing for 2 weeks on it regularyl and only one KOS guy who was immed. banned by admin when he shot at me.

The Laughing Man Prive Hive Admin Hacking Video
Tekz08 replied to laughisback's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
First off, it appears as though many in this thread have the misconception that server 'admins' on TLM have access to the database and SQL functions. This is not the case. As such, typing a 'simple command' to fix player locations/debug spawning/etc. is not something we are capable of doing. These powers were supposed to help admins (not the owner) deal with these issues. Second, it apparently needs to be said again and again - this was an isolated incident that happened once, and will not happen again. Third, this is a private hive. Last I checked, most private hives have admin consoles that allow direct access to player inventories as well as the ability to spawn vehicles and access the DB. It's a joke that this is even an issue. Fourth, TLM servers have been #1 for so long because the admin staff has been attentive to player needs and our anti-hack capabilities are second to none. Find me a valid complaint and I'll show you 100 other players who have had a good experience. As Xianith said, this incident didn't directly affect -anyone- and we have put out a call to anyone whom it did affect to make it right. Lastly, as for the availability of these tools, we were able to help multiple people during the time they were active that we would have not been able to help before these abilities were implemented. These issues included the items in my first paragraph above. Each of those players was extremely thankful that we were able to help them at the time and that they were able to continue on with their gaming experience. -
Easy. PVP RP and Friendly is encouraged. The issue we have found with past servers, is, admins don't like players causing waves by killing people when they get on. Too often, you find a server you like, and have no PVP, because people get sad if you kill them, or they all yell at you until the admin's ban you from that server. The friendly groups is a good aspect to start on a new server, however an entirely friendly server is kind of lame.. Your always going to have friendly players who just want to loot together and kill zombies. While we encourage group play, we hope that friendly groups will turn into PVP raid groups or even clan warfare. To encourage the transition from just a friendly group of survivors, content to camp in the woods with their vehicles, we admins have created prebuilt strongholds throughout taviana. Each stronghold guards an area with potential resources, i.e. a lake / food supply, a gas station, docks, airfields, etc. The hopes is, that survivor groups, and clans will join, and break from the monotony of friendly looting, and work on building group assets, and recruitment, so they can effectively take over strongholds, thereby controlling critical resources to survive. Its balanced however, so that these survivor groups will have to decide when to cut their losses and move on. The majority of the bases that would control multiple resources, i.e. larger bases in towns, are balanced so that it would require a group of at least 6 veteran players to avoid dying from the zed spawns. Some bases are more like resource outposts, which could easily be defended by 2 players. These are typically small, and would require larger groups to relocate, or pitch tents / stash vehicles in unsecure locations outside the stronghold itself. From an RP aspect, those that enjoy roleplaying, in and out of game, the ability to roleplay your group of survivors as the most notorious bandits on taviana, or as the police faction chasing these bandits, encourages more group play, more pvp, and actual firefights that last more then 2 minutes. Furthermore, seeing as each base offers unique lootable buildings, on top of resources, as well as varied defenses, i.e. only assaultable from air, or 1 entry point, for ground, encourages larger groups, or even new groups, to aggressively expand their territory. From an RP aspect, this constant shift of power would also encourage group / clan diplomacy. Suddenly find your bandits outnumbered 3 to 1? Might be a good time to negotiate a ceasefire...but don't expect it to be free. I hope this answers your questions elf cakes, and I hope to see you visit us at some point.

Overpowered Weapons removed - Only 3 snipers - Custom Skins (you choose!) Check out this server!
bllizzard91 replied to trunkz jr's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Lots of new stuff coming...added some skins...as trunkz updated above... MV22 ospreys and black hawks are in the server now AND...BIG NEWS!!! Now u can scavenge and remove working parts from vehicles so if u find two half fixed vehicles...it might make ur day ;) -
Servers with excessive amounts of vehicles or starting gear really doesn't make the game any more fun. Aside from that, vehicles with high amounts of vehicles that can't compensate for the extra load tend to have performance issues.
-
Playing on official servers has nothing to do with not finding vehicles. You have to look in all the right places and not along the coast. You're obviously not going to find one along the coast due to the high population of players who do spawn along the coast and if you do manage to find one along the coast expect it to be a trap as it's highly unlikely. Head up north and scout around the smaller cities. Be prepared to fix up a vehicle if you do find one, it's unlikely you'll find a fully working vehicle. Also look out for those idiots who try to drive vehicles around the cities or populated areas to tease players. Last time someone did that to my squad and I they ended up loosing all of their vehicles and gear when we mowed their asses down.

First off, I did a quick search, did not find a topic matching this description. If I missed it, please merge this topic with the fitting one. Second, I am from Norway, English is not my native language, so please excuse any weird sentence structure, or grammatical errors. The way I see it: I would like to see more signs of the zombie apocalypse, and by that I mean,- - Police cars abandoned in the streets, shotgun spawn inside. - Other rescue vehicles left at the scene. - Hospitals overrun, lots of corpses, extra medical tents and so on. - More corpses in cars, apartments etc. - Less clutter in the roads(road blocks), more abandoned vehicles. - Some areas still have power/limited power. - Hoards roaming through the map, players will have to fight or flight. - Some houses should look like someone tried to barricade them. - Some signs on houses saying "survivors inside" etc. Like in 28 days/weeks later. I know that a lot of this is not possible in the mod, and the devs have probably thought about some of the things I have said. But I needed to get it out there anyway. I also understand that a lot of the stuff I mention, the devs want to be "player made". For example a crashed car in a city, with the players corps inside. But I still feel we need a bit more. What are your thoughts on this matter? Any suggestions? I would also greatly appreciate if one of the devs took the time to respond :) Kindest regards Hauger.

Friendly PVP Server with AI Bandits and Trading Zone.
haywardgb replied to haywardgb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yep, an AI troop took my heli as I logged in to test the script last night and when I tried to shoot them down they nailed me SAS style.. Thankfully I fixed the Devils Castle guards though, I think, and they shouldn't be taking players vehicles anymore. They might grab gear though, but I'm working on that :) The AI heli patrols are all over the map, the AI's both heli and ground spawn the same way zombies do. So when you leave an area or log off, they'll despawn, freeing up server memory and hopefully reducing lag. Still in beta stage though, so let me know how you get on. But remember, these are all random now, so not even I know where they'll spawn or how many of them.. lol -
Friendly PVP Server with AI Bandits and Trading Zone.
haywardgb replied to haywardgb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Hey, I see you've had fun with the server updates then ;) Yep, the AI now behave like real players, i.e they'll steal your vehicles to get to their next waypoint (they won't take it far, usually!), they may even help themselves to your gear, so be careful where you leave your stuff.. Bandits are bandits in my eyes, kill on sight and take no chances .. AI or otherwise ;) Did you get to see the AI heli patrols ? -

Thanks for the feedback. When i was first making the server i hoped i could show yourself on the map, but without nameplates/vehicles/other players being shown. But it seems this is not possible, although i can turn off nameplates, you can still see other players on the map (if you are close enough) and any vehicle in the vicinity, although i myself am not voting on the poll, as i want the community to sway the decision. I wish that the GPS you can find in the game would make it work the way i wanted it , see yourself on the map ONLY. At the moment most ppl that find GPS barely use it, when you open it it shows you a VERY zoomed in version of the map that does not help much and you are able to plot points on the map without GPS anyway. I was just hoping to try something different than other servers - a bit of both Regular/Veteran difficulty - but it did not work out as well as i hoped. Any feedback is appreciated, after this poll has finished in a few days, i will make another poll on day/night. At the moment it is around 2hr45min day, and 1 hr15min night (4hr restarts)- although because the sun is setting and i have full moon enabled it doesn't get that dark until 30 min before restart - i think it is alright at the moment but i want to know what other people think. Keep this in mind, i can only set server start at an hour between 1-24 , so it cant be like 13:30 or anything it would have to be 13:00 or 14:00. -
The Laughing Man Prive Hive Admin Hacking Video
djbrombizzle replied to laughisback's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Exactly!! Well said People also need to realize that admin powers and abuse are looked at more closely in Dayz then in other games such as Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, etc...This is because DayZ is a survival game, the whole point of the game revolves around keeping alive and getting better gear. Not like other games where all you do is kill, kill, kill then die and you get to select a class for your gear. Also what INS was doing is a such a HUGE deal because he was arming the clan he was with to the max, thus ruining the game not just for me, but others. Even if this was a one day thing (as others claim) do you realize how unbalanced that one day of doing that made the game? Oh lets see about 8 people running around the server with MK48s, Ghillie Suits, M24s, M14s, etc...What do you think happens when they get killed? Yep that lucky guy gets his gear! SO now all these people are basically getting a ton of higher gear because of people getting high end weapons that are not legit. Then the admin would just teleport people to his new location and give more weapons, process repeats. You see how even doing this for one day is bad??? TLM if you are really serious about cleaning this up and keeping your server #1 in DayZ this is what I suggest you do: 1. Ban INS - will show the community that even people close to you that if you get caught abusing your server and admin abilities that your gone 2. Wipe clean the server - Reset everything, gear, tents, vehicles, etc...Give people like a weeks notice so that they all don't freak out. But I think people will generally agree after this its a good move. 3. Restrict admin abilities to what they used to be, minus the admin map -
Yeah, losing vehicles sucks even more. If you want any help gearing up or looking for cars n stuff, lemme know! I'm always down to play and help out a fellow player.

Hi light, im have been playing with rootford above, really enjoying the server. As for your poll, I have voted against map locations as i feel that being able to see where other players and vehicles are will majorly take away from the game. It will allow bandits to find and kill you and also for people to find and loot other players bases a lot easier. As for your own location, it isn't difficult to triangulate yourself with the map and compass, also you are told your rough position when you join the game. I hope this helps with the decision. -

boxman80 replied to delaraga's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi mate, you're welcome to come play with us on our server. We're a social gaming community that just looks for decent folks to play with on our server. We run Taviana 2.0 and it's perfect for newbies who are just getting to grips with the game as it's bigger, has more custom buildings, ore vehicles and theres less running between cities/points of interest. We have two main Factions on our server, The Ravens (friendlies, scavengers/survivors) and Scorpions (Less friendly bit more bandit types) but most will usually help a new player along and give them a hand to get to grips with the game. We also have our own public comms server (Mumble) for players to use when on our server and run weekly events for our community. No obligation to join our clans, anyone is welcome to just run along and play as and when they feel like. More details can be found at our website @ http://www.bsbnetwork.com -
Friendly PVP Server with AI Bandits and Trading Zone.
PredatorSchnizel replied to haywardgb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Haudi, Are you alloved to engage AI snipers? Couple of them was fighting a bandit mob in Stary and after they have shot all the bandits, i tried to loot the bodies, but snipers opened fire upon me. At least I think it was them, sounded like a M14. Server was about to restart so I bail out into woods.... I also noticed that AI is using vehicles, right? No one else in the server, suddenly my car was moved about 100m and what it seems from a distance, there was a dead bandit on drivers seat. -P- -
Moving in groups and keeping your spacing as you move can limit the amount of casualties you take if you come into contact i.e not being huddled together or riding up eachothers arseholes. A selection of different weapons has its advantage also. My group generally consists of 4 to 7 players so we tend to have at least one/two snipers, one LMG, and a mixture of rifles with automatic capability or longe range effectiveness like the M14. In contact getting as much rounds down range in theory should keep the opposers head down but being that it's only a game it may not. also having a few smoke grenades can be handy to help with extraction from contacts, i use these alot but thats just me wanting to make things that wee bit more fun and dramatic. In vehicles if there is 4 or more of my group on we split the team into 2 vehicles, if the convoy comes under contact we always chose to stop the vehicle with the driver side away from the firing point, especially if there is only two players in the vehicle with the passenger sitting behind the driver, so if it is a head on contact we can turn the passenger side towards the contract giving the driver and the passenger behind him cover to get out of the vechicle and to return fire. As this postee said communication is a big part of surviving, sometimes emotions run high and people shout and roar but that happens.

Just a simple tactic for those small clans that want to go full tactical like the big boys and try stuff out. Try this sometime. My squad usually hunts for choppers/vehicles and often tactically raid towns like Stary or Berezino, and occasionally Cherno and Elecktro. We have started bringing along a sniper with a DMR with 4 mags + a pile of flares and coyote bag loaded to the brink with food and drink for survivors, a M249 SAW heavy gunner with 2 mags 2 or 3 smokes to lay cover, and a bag full of blood bags and bandages for all that are still living, a M4A3 CCO or M16/M4 variant rifleman with at least 5 mags, an AK-74 rifleman with 4 mags and 3 smoke grenades, and an AKM rifleman with at least 4 mags and 1 or 2 M67 grenades. Before raid, we gather intel on who is in the city through side chat, and plan accordingly. We gather and distribute gear, and make sure each member is going to be set for what could possibly be a long raid (last minute goodbyes to family members, farewell intercourse with girlfriends or wife, and potty breaks :D ). We then all hop in our ural and head off. At around 900-1000m away, we hide the ural, scout the area for thieves, and debark. 200m out, sniper gives each member a food and drink, and everyone drinks and eats (most fun part with all the jokes being cracked and wiseasses being themselves) and we head out. Sniper sets up at least a 95% FOV on our squad, being able to pick out any person that could be a threat in the future, and snipe any from behind. Single man recons the streets and picks out possible locations of cover and the other two stay about 50-60m away behind buildings and fences in complete cover with the Heavy Gunner anywhere from 15-20m back, trailing them slowly while prone keeping an eye out behind for targets. All the while, the sniper relaying info over teamspeak about conditions, locations, and targets. If he sees any person coming from behind, he shoots to kill, and does use two. When someone is spotted by any member of the squad, the sniper immediately puts eyes around for more targets, and does this throughout the entire (possible) engagement. The entire squad sets up near each other, 2 Rm behind cover, 1 Rm providing small arms for the Heavy gunner, and Heavy gunner laying down needed suppressive fire. The target is given one chance over direct or any type of comm available to leave the entire city the opposite direction of the sniper, and the sniper will be informed to watch for this. If he does not comply or turns to fire, he is killed by a hail of gunfire. This tactic can be extremely fun when you come into contact with another group, organized or not. And when you get into a clan fight... forget about the time of your life, you'll be drooling for more DayZ by the time it is over. You'll find yourself throwing frags behind walls, popping smokes to prevent or aid escape. And you'll hear a million shots going past your face. Nothing beats the rewards. Loot gets distributed, stories get told, screenies get places on desktops. What you really get out of it, is a tighter unit, a fun ass freaking day, and more faith in your fellow human being when it all comes together. See y'all in Chernarus! B)

I never said developers using a RNG is bad. It's impossible not to use a RNG!!! My point is that there should be boundaries to what a zombie can and cannot do. Sure it should be able to hit for an amount of bloody damage controlled by the RNG, but it shouldn't have a chance of a knock out shot. Why? Because there is no defence. If there was a helmet you could wear that stopped KO's then fine, you there isn't one. This impacts seriously on gameplay for a single user. Impacting gameplay is BAD NEWS for players. Now in answer to a few points made by posters above: "I fail to see what's so ridiculous about there being a small chance of getting one hit knocked out by zombies. If anything it makes sense for it to be there and should probably happen more often. " Because a single player has no defence against it. In a group environment at least another player can use an epi-pen to save their partner. It's a bit like how overpowered blood bags are for groups as they can't be used solo. Unlike a real life scenario when a zombie may very well be able to knock out somebody, the developers should factor in gameplay for all types of players. "Yeah I am going to have to agree that the very minimal chance you have of getting knocked out by zed should remain. To me it's almost like the bullets in game. I've been one shotted with a M1911 at full health and was TKO and broken leg. So basically my point being the zeds need something going their way and just pretend he slit your throat or some dumb shit when you get KOd. Also I have been driving vehicles in this game for awhile and it really is not that hard to keep it out of the zeds range. Maybe it's just me but I believe I have only been hit by one ever while driving and I didn't bleed or anything. I just pay attention and don't try to go on splatter sprees anymore." Firstly, I could be very wrong here but you only get a broken leg if you're actually hit in the leg, right? Also, what are the exact mechanics for getting KO'd? I'm sure that getting below 6K blood has an effect on it. Is I mentioned before, increasing damage (blood) is fine and maybe even increasing infection/broken leg chance (although the broken leg system is a bit pants as far as morphine is concerned). It's not about making zombies easier, it's about making the gameplay better. As far as driving is concerned, it didn't really matter before the last patch (1.6x) as zombies a) couldn't damage vehicles, B) couldn't damage people in or on vehicles, c) couldn't pull people out of/off vehicles, and d) didn't spawn when a person was on/in a vehicle. "Unfortunately to the people playing. RNG is a load of bollox. EVERYTHING in this world can not be predicted. there's these wonderful things called "chance" "luck" and the "Chaos Theory". in the real world if 1 guy hits you 30 times. the first punch MIGHT knock you out. OR chaos would cause it to be the 3rd hit." Rubbish. If you think that it's total chance when you knock somebody out or not you're an idiot. It's like saying that it's 50/50 between 2 boxers if they hit each other the same number of times. It's down to the right punch at the right time. Increasing the punch strength will obviously increase the chance of a KO, but there are many other factors involved as well, so saying it's just chance of the chaos theory is quite frankly pathetic. "LIFE IS NOT FAIR. the sooner everyone gets used to that idea, the sooner we can progress as humans and evolve. ALL games have an element of RNG, and the ones that don't, usually aren't very fun. Warcraft is 99% RNG based.... and look how many people play that? So RNG can't be that much of a bad thing." People play a game to get away from life. To play something that doesn't exist in life even. Most importantly, they play a game for enjoyment. Making a game unenjoyable by making it unfair is rather stupid. Don't know about you, but life is generally fair. You can be unlucky and get shat upon if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, but in most cases you get what you make of it. People who say life is all about chance and luck and are generally lazy fucks that try to make excuses for their own incompetence.
