  1. The games dead, will be more dead-er after the 4th quarter. (GOTTA PUSH THEM GAMES FOR XMAS) i remember around july-aug six launcher hovered around 10k to 25k players on its low/high areas. sometimes it even jumped to 30k. Its now lucky to get 4k over the weekend. No actual statistics because im not that inspired, but just what ive seen. Also, private hives are just amazing. admins are generally friendly and actually give a fuck, they moniter it more consistently, hackers are a no biggie, and most of all no ghosting, no combat logs (sometimes) ANNNDD you could even make a legacy on these servers (Like right now im an evil bandit and everyone knows it) only real problem is that groups get REALLY big and competitive. Lone wolfs are kinda pushed away
  2. Server just went up an hour ago. Veteran with 3rd person on, vehicles, the whole nine. To gain access you must fill out an application here. Come join the server hopping, ghosting, and hacker FREE Chernarus =) Good hunting!
  3. Well, I guess the option is playing public hive servers with a bunch of drooling idiots or playing on this whitelisted private hive server with soft hackers that for some reason haven't found our cars yet, our camp, or bee lined right to us after we killed them. To our surprise, NO ONE has combat logged either and there's certainly no ghosting. So I think I'll take my whitelisted server where someone may or may not be hacking but certainly isn't teleporting me into the ocean or turning us all into goats.

    Players 30+ years old

I started looking at getting a server set up for another group of players a couple of weeks ago ... its not too bad as far as the technical side goes ( although, theres a lot of perussing dizzying log files looking for hackers, and such ), its mostly a money issue. Servers are anywhere from $50 - $70 a month for 40-50 slots. Not bad if we have enough ppl to keep them up and running. Though, not everyone can afford even $5 a month extra ( sometimes, thats me D: ) ... so its something we could certainly do, but with the knowledge that it could get a bit outta hand time, and money wise ( but Im up for it :] ). We could also set up a private hive server. That would solve a lot of hacker, ghosting, and server hopping problems, though they still obviously accure on occation, we could stiffle it quite a bit. And the public could still come on ... which I want. I played with some folks that locked their server down so nobody else could join ... *yawn* Lets see how the group builds itself, and if it looks good as far as some of the logistics go, Id be happy as shit to get our own servers, and maintain 'em. We should also stay aware that the stand alone version could be coming soon ... that could impact any decsion to jump into this mod with servers and stuff. Might be better to wait it out a bit ... .....

    Farewell DayZ...

I'll stop combat logging when people stop teleporting/ghosting to get behind me.
  6. Herr Robert

How do you not play with Hacks?

I play on a private hive server. It is actually possible to play there when the server is full for longer than 10 minutes without getting killed by a scripter. The admins on it will also rollback the server if everyone on the server gets slayed or teleported into the air. There are also other benefits such as exploits being less common (you might get banned if you dupe or combat log), and since it's a private hive, there's no ghosting or serverhopping. I understand your point of view, though. The public hive is beyond playable by now in my opinion. Even if you have an alternate account for duping it is a waste of time because it will likely take a longer time to suicide and run to meet each other to do the duping than the time you will survive on a full 40-50 player server without getting killed by a scripter.
  7. One kind of solution for this KoS and Alt F4 thing going on has been talked over suggestions. Simple as it is just add timers to server rejoin (no more ghosting) and for log out. So if you'd have to wait 30 mins before you'r able to rejoin a server and say like 30 sec timer while you log out (you can of course cancel this instantly and return) one would have to play trough their actions. In this light I think that people would have to think more carefully when to shoot since there is no easy way out of it. What do you think?
  8. www.5thelement.torlaunch.com Welcome to the 5th Element general information and recruitment thread. This thread has been created to prevent information from being spread all across the forums, and will contain all the latest news and updates about 5th Element in one compiled "All you need to know'" thread. Officially originated as a Tera Online guild in May 2012, 5th Element added a DayZ branche in July and as a result it grew exponentially and continues to do so. What started out as a public Teamspeak hub for fellow players to meet and group up, quickly evolved into a structured organization. While we may have evolved, the original "open door" policy for the teamspeak server will never change. Wether you want to find some fellow survivors around the globe to group with or just hang out and chat a bit, everyone is still welcome at all times. You can even use our teamspeak to create seperate channels for you and your friends only. Some may call us a clan, guild, team, squad or community, we simply refer to ourselves as 5th. While we are not a leaderless organisation. the 5th Element will always aim to keep it's members and guests as free from restrictions as possible. Effectively allowing them to enjoy their games in the way they enjoy most. We are a international community with members from all around the globe, set in a democratic environment. All 'Major' decisions will be decided upon by internal polls. No matter where your from or what you look like, everyone is equal. As the organisation grows you may find some members empowered with additional rights. This does not effect their 'importance' at all, as their votes and voices will have the same volume as those of a newcomer on it's first day. Please bear in mind that some situations might require instant adjustments, therefore the 5th Administration team holds the right to edit or modify any rule or regulation without prior notice. This will only happen rarely, and you can be sure of it that the person(s) involved had good reasons for doing so. 5th Element Teamspeak Server 80.69.77.101:10918 No password required *Slots will increase once needed. See below for the 5th Element Teamspeak rules and regulations 5th Element DayZ Server US 2890 5th Element SurvivalServers.com No password required See below for the 5th Element DayZ rules and regulations The final server config we will be using is as followed: 3rd Person: On (Allows you to view your character in a 3rd person perspective) Tracers: On (Gunfire will dsplay visible tracers) Map waypoints: Off (You cannot use shift+click to set a ingame waypoint) Crosshairs: Off (3rd person crosshairs are not displayed) Nametags: Off (Other survivors name and distance are not displayed) For any questions, suggestions, idea's or complaints, please visit our server section on our forums, by following the link here While 5th Element will never force it's members or guests to pay a single cent, donations are encouraged to keep our services running. Press the button below to donate. Thank you! *All donations that go over the required monthly costs will go to the next month* While we much rather refer and limit them to general guidelines, certain boundaries must be in place. Some may be rules, some are guidelines while others are just tips and suggestions. Below you will find a compiled list of the general behavior that is requested, aswell as a description explaining them. 5th Element 1. Maturity and common sense. As it is 5th Element's policy to keep limits to a minimum, we do not impose a age limit. We have members from all cultures around the world, and while there is a higher probability a older person is more mature, it is definatly not defined by age. We do expect our members to resolve situations in a mature and appropiate manner, using their common sense to the best of their ability. There is a flipside to this 'All age' policy, since we do not limit our members profanity either. Upon joining or using any of the 5th Element services, you may be subject to abusive language, 18+ discussions or any other form of communication that may offend you. The 5th Element withdraws itself from any responsebility in this area, and exercises a 'own risk' policy. Often one just needs to get a thicker skin, but in extreme cases for example racism or legal issues, measures can be taken. All issues can be thrown up and open for discussion on our forums. Again, common sense. 2. Be friendly, patient and show respect. 5th Element is a new(bie) friendly organisation. Not everyone has aquired as much knowledge of a game or any other mechanic as you do, we therefore ask you to be friendly and patient when someone runs into a issue. We are all human beings, wich also means people can have a shitty day and we dont expect them to smile all the time. You can be who you are, and if things dont work out simply take a step back and try again later, or look for a other solution. Communication is key here. 3. Ability to speak English. As we are international, we can expect people to less adept at our main language for communication. To some people, English may be a 2nd,3rd or even 4th language. This is perfectly fine, aslong as people can understand what's being said. Out of respect to others we also speak English in any form of public communication, like Teamspeak and Forums. People are allowed to talk in their native language if there are no other people present, or they have clearly stated they do not mind. However, it is advised that you simply create a temporarely channel if you feel the need to speak in your native language. 4. Short, clear communication and use of appropiate channels. As the membercount and teamspeak users increased we quickly experienced a clusterfuck in our main lobby channel. Having 20 people in a channel spread across the map trading goods, asking questions and calling out enemy positions obviously does not work all that great. We have therefore implended tons of specific channels, make use of them. I'm not saying it's not possible, as we had large amount of players in the same channel with perfect communication. It is up to the users wether to cut down on the chit-chat and use short/clear communication or simply join a different channel for the time being. 5. Fair and legit gameplay. Surely we are not saints and have made smart use of certain glitches or faulty game mechanics. However, we will never make use of hacks, exploits or cheats that have a direct influence on other people's gameplay experience. This includes but not limited to: Alt+F4, ghosting, 3rd party programs, admin abuse etc. As upcoming server admins we promote a fair and equal gameplay experience for everyone. Since we are not completely in control and have eyes and ears everywhere, people are encouraged to state their issues on our forums. 6. Activity. Pretty self explanatory, be a active part of our community. We all have our responsebilities and duties to take care of. So we do not mandate a required hours online. Play with us whenever you can and want to, no strings attached. We do appreciate it however if you leave a short notification if your about to make a 6-month world trip. Also, it is highly suggested you visit our forums on a regular basis to stay up to date on all the latest news, events and updates. 5th Element is currently running 1 event(s). Click to proceed. 5th Element Combat Rescue Operations If you like to play in a group, hang out and make friends and approve of the way we go about things, you have come to the right place. 9. What's up survivors! Indecisive Bastards are recruiting 2-5 trustworthy people to join up with us and help us survive and thrive in the zombie apocalypse. We have out own server (non-private) and our own teamspeak, and are working to become stronger and better than before. There are many bonuses to joining a clan and in particular this one. Outside of safety in numbers and some help getting geared, we have a sense of wicked team work which make us unique. Please read the requirements below and visit our website listed several times on this post. Come by our teamspeak, have a chat with us, and apply on the website. http://www.indecisivebastards.com/home Requirements 18+ players only. If you are below that age you may be considered if you come to our server and teamspeak and show you aren't a complete moron, we will consider it. No hacking, alt-F4ing, or ghosting. If it is proven that you've done any of these things (with hard proof, server logs, fraps, or eye-witnessed by a senior member) your membership and status on the server itself may be in question. Be trustworthy. This I cannot stress enough, during your recruitment period you may be shown to a lesser priority base, and are expected to not give away said base's location. If we can't trust you, then you are worthless to us. You must be willing to do work along side other recruits, members, or senior members. You won't be given busy work, but some leg work may be asked of you, mainly to see if you can accomplish simple tasks. This includes following simple or complex instructions. You must be able to communicate clearly. This means not screaming in teamspeak or having a nerd-gasim, if you find something awesome (Unless you find the chopper, if you find the chopper you are welcome to scream and yell as you please). Any questions or comments, drop by the website or teamspeak, or even leave it here. We'll be checking regularly. www.indecisivebastards.com/home

    Clan looking for a server

US 1550 and US 2522 (sister servers) are always looking for new players and/or clans. Please feel free to pop in anytime and take a look about. We do have a few rules. Like no hacking/scripting, no combat logging, no combat ghosting, and no hacked weapons, but otherwise they're pretty much standard servers. The two servers are set roughly 10 hours apart so that when one is day the other is night. That way my players can choose their enviroment. They're also both set up on a dedicated, high-speed server system. I also have a dedicated TeamSpeak server for my players and I will provide groups or clans their own passworded channel. And I'm moving into the area of offering my players two private hives as well. Currently Lingor Island is up and running and soon I hope to have the second private hive running the standard Chernarus map. Also, PvP is ALWAYS on. So please don't come in expecting a nice little PvE place to farm gear. Just sayin' :P

    Fixing the issue with ghosting.

I held the same feeling for a while Harun, but then I realized that you run into an issue were you're screwed if the server you mainly play on goes down and you can't log on to it. You can't join another server and pick up where you left off, and if you do, when your main serve comes back up you're screwed again for the same reason. If you have the 20 second delay between a player log off and a character log off, then the scenario where a player logs in only to find themselves dead for no apparent reason can occur, when in fact they were killed after they had logged off the previous session before. This reduces the credibility of such deaths as possible bugs which can lead to late detection and often very frustrated players. Even if the delay were to be toned down to 5 seconds meaning only those who could actively perceive the player prior them logging off could act upon it, it does not solve the underlying issue of the player using their ability to swap servers to gain an advantage they would not otherwise have. My suggestion is about reducing the effectiveness of ghosting by locking a player out of any server for a set period of time after they log off. It works because it removes the player from the game for a set period of time thereby increasing the likelihood of any action they were going to take pointless. Basically it works like this; A logs off in the middle of a fight, they have to wait ten minutes before they can join any server. Once they join a server they can then go and move into a better position, but they have to log off a second times so that's another ten minutes. When they finally do log back into the original server the probability of their new position being of any importance is practically nil as the opposing side is more likely to have already left in the twenty plus minutes the player wasted ghosting.

    Fixing the issue with ghosting.

Why not have it so that if you jump back on a server within the 10 or 15 minute period, it simply puts you right back where you were when you left. Then it changes ghosting to being essentially an alt+F4 putting you right back where you left the server at. If the hive knows where you were last, I'm fairly sure the server should as well.
  14. Let me start this by saying that until the recent episode I had with vilayer I was generally very please with their service. My problems as an admin arose when I found myself logging into my own server and almost immediately having someone teleport to me and kill me. Happens to me once, coincidence, 3 times over over a few days... not so much. On top of that recently I started having hackers enter my server very shortly b4 automated restarts and do mass kills. Shortly after other restarts and do mass vehicle teleports along with mass kills via teleporting ppl 100m+ up. I wanted to password to prevent this. Vilayer says no to passwords because it will infect the hive. Who cares if the hive is already "infected"? Who cares if the paying customers (admins) are fed up with public hive so had moved to the vilayer "private" hive to avoid it only to find out that vilayer has become the public hive v2.0. Btw to vilayer. You tell me how I can ban someone who shows up in my .rpt file with a hacked set of gear when I cant find them in any of the BE .log files? Only reason I know the guy was hacking or involved in hacking is he logs into my server with hacked gear. He logged out of my server b4 I caught him so I didnt get his guid anywhere. Downright amazing, but hey... the hive isn't infected unless you let ppl have passworded servers. They did say passwording will eventually happen, but not when, and were not willing to work with me so I can keep the server running. Instead Im supposed to pay them $$ for a service I cant use and they are not bothering to secure for me against pure griefing. I demanded a refund they eventually stated they would give me a prorated credit at most. Funny thing though the server advertisements state full ftp access which is NOT true. full server ftp access would not mean I can see files in the file manager but they are not visible when looking via ftp. Thats bait and switch. Now they do have an explanation for it I'm sure, but its still false advertising. Hope they have fun talking to my bank since they stopped talking to me. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 13/09/2012 00:52 William || Client Hi, I would very much like to password my server, but cant find how within the config files. Currently my server has become quite popular as you can see from gametracker.com, but I'm being swamped with hackers and griefers. I would very much like to close out the hackers via a password to the individuals who have moved onto the server and not hacked. 13/09/2012 00:55 Shawn || Staff Hey William we do not currently allow people to password their servers as all DayZPackage servers are on the same Vilayer Hive and allowing this may compromise other servers. We are looking into adding this very soon though. Best Regards, Shawn (Support Technician) Vilayer LTD | www.vilayer.com 13/09/2012 14:10 William || Client So my private server which I pay for is unprotected from any and all hackers who are now coming through on a daily basis. In fact I'm spending about half my playtime now dealing with hackers and troublemakers via rcon rather than playing the game. What am I supposed to do ban everyone who comes onto the server who isn't supposed too? Right now I get an avg of 2-3 server disruptive hackers every 2 hours. I went to a private server to get away from them and yet you are telling me that I cant get away from them? Hell if I cant password the server I might as well go back to playing on the public hive! Oh and I dont care if my server is on the same hive as all the other vilayer hives so if having a completely separate hive is a quick solution I'll take it. But if you cant get me passworded option or at least prevent people from joining my server without my pre approving I will not be reupping this account. I didnt come here to continue serving as a punching bag for hackers and the log system simply doesnt stop it. By the way you do realize that all that your no password stance is going to do is make your new popular servers be the next target for the extreme hacking problems that have been plaguing this game. 13/09/2012 15:02 Casey || Staff Just ban everyone who joins while you are on. Passwording is coming soon. Best Regards, Casey (Support Technician) Vilayer LTD | www.vilayer.com 13/09/2012 17:35 William || Client I'm locking the server. Now I have hackers hopping in and teleporting everyone way up in the sky to kill everyone on the server. If you cant get this resolved today plz cancel my account and refund the money. 13/09/2012 17:44 William || Client apparently you guys have a problem with locking the server and I cant unlock it since you turned it off. Gee thanks. How about this. You tell me how to stop someone from hopping on, and as soon as they are in teleporting everyone to them 100m up in the sky?!? They are not doing this for any other reason than to kill my server. Either you fix it, or give me a full refund. Im just about ready to walk away from this game permanently b/c of this. 13/09/2012 18:14 Shawn || Staff William your server was automatically turned off because you locked it. You asked if you could password it we told you that you can not. If you are unsure as to how you can ban players please read the following link: http://www.vilayer.com/cl/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&catid=1&id=1 Best Regards, Shawn (Support Technician) Vilayer LTD | www.vilayer.com 13/09/2012 18:15 Shawn || Staff Your server should also be online and operational now too. Best Regards, Shawn (Support Technician) Vilayer LTD | www.vilayer.com 13/09/2012 18:28 William || Client Hey shawn, What am I supposed to do about ppl logging into the server and immediately killing everyone and just leaving? I can't preemptively ban them, I cant sit 24/7 staring at rcon and banning ppl as they login. The people who are doing this DONT care to play, they just want to ruin it for the ppl on my server b/c I caught them hacking on other guids. Also If you can pull my logs plz look in the arma2oa.rpt file and do a search for itemradio. There was a guy on my server with that and other hacked items who does not show in any log at the time and I couldnt get his guid out of rcon to ban him after he hopped off. Seriously this is harassment and I have no method of stopping these guys. Banning 1 account just means they come right back with another account and do it again when I restart. Your response that I should ban them is like trying to stop a flood with a bucket. They win b/c I cant possibly keep up with this and the tools being offered do not solve it. If you guys aren't willing to let me password and aren't able to keep them out, just refund my $$ and close the server. Im one guy with a few friends trying to have a good time playing games. We can't spend our evenings rebuilding every hour or so when a hacker rolls in and does this. You guys seem to believe you are helping the community by not allowing the passwords but tbh my friends and I are the paying customer and thus the backbone of the community. We will leave and I think you will see a lot of your other server admins doing the same thing shortly. 13/09/2012 18:35 Shawn || Staff William I understand your frustration and I am fully aware how passwording your server will help with this problem. These are the exact reason that we are making this one of our top priorities so we can help server administrators better protect their servers. Now our reasoning for not allowing passwords is similar to why the official DayZ teams does not allow passworded servers to run on their hive, people buy servers just to abuse this. Would everyone who passworded their server being abusing the system so they can infect other servers? Of course not but we need to protect these other customers as well. At this time I do not have an ETA on when you will be able to password your server at this time. If you do not wish to wait for this feature though I can issue a prorated refund to your Vilayer credit balance. Best Regards, Shawn (Support Technician) Vilayer LTD | www.vilayer.com 13/09/2012 18:50 William || Client funny. People dont need a passworded server to "infect" another server. They just need a server that has no active admin to pull off their hacks. So your reasoning for not allowing passwords if pretty pathetic. Go ahead and prorate me and close down the server. I will not be coming back to your service and I will be posting this in full on the dayz forums later tonight. And please dont tell me it isnt possible to have a simple solution to the ghosting issue. You could easily set it so ppl who server hop do so with no gear or end up on the starter locations when they come in. Either solution would cut down on that ghosting problem and could be done on the SQL database side. You could also mass ban ppl who write to your hive with gear that is clearly not legit like the guy who came onto my server with itemRadio. Again something that can easily be checked on the SQL database side and you could easily submit all of them to your own in house community ban list. You dont do any of that yet, instead tell the people who pay for your service to accept the glaring problems which you could address.

    The "power" of Alt F4.

No I understand the speed of Alt f4 it can be macro'd to a mouse button. The fail safe of the character persisting for 5 seconds is what I'm worried about. I thought for sure it was in the game already? With this though, there's no way. The ghosting servers and ending up on the coast failed too. Though i imagine that one isn't too bad as he wasn't gone long enough for him to "loot anything"
Der bereits erwähnte Teamspeak-Server is öffentlich zugänglich.

QQ Admins - Lingor - (Slap server)

lol, no-pvp zones. Forget it. Hell Ive had my camp raided multiple times. Had ppl steal my car. Ive had ppl shoot me while I'm tabbed over to do rcon admin stuff. Funny thing though. The guys who were playing on the server a lot, even the ones who shot me on sight enjoyed the way it was. Did I have ppl rant at me over the rules? Yeah, but I just kick/ban them and they come over here to complain. Did I care? Not really. If they want to rant thats fine. I have no problem with them playing their way on another server that I'm not paying for. If they came onto my server though they were going to abide by the rules. If I caught you not abiding by them... I quickly show them the door. Kind of feel bad for cash4gold. He pulled his server down today and I began pulling mine down over the same issue. Unrelenting hackers have ruined the vilayer hive. I've had a very lengthy back and forth with them today about it and the responses I got were pretty entertaining. I was told I can't password.... but I can ban everyone if I want to as they enter my server. The reason for no passwording was that it would lead to bad admins "infecting" the hive. I'm thinking are they serious? Do they not realize that the problem is already happening? People just hack the stuff on server A and then go to server B to play. If they get banned from server A who cares? As for getting them on the community ban list that isnt going to happen unless the log files show whats in those magical backpacks the vehicle log shows AND the admin is on the ball for that server. Are they ghosting? why ghost to a passworded server? Why not just go to the numerous low/no pop servers that are on the same vilayer hive? The point is that the people who are hacking like that are NOT likely to pay for a server when they can easily get onto one of the many available servers. People who pay for servers want to make a place where they and their friends can simply have a good time. For most that means they don't mind new people, they dont mind bandits, or non bandits. They simply want a place where they don't have to deal with teleporting, ghosting, and a multitude of other disruptive hacks. Now if you want the kicker.... I had a guy on my arma2oa.rpt file today with an itemRadio. Now when I go to look for him in the createvehicle.log or scripts.log files he doesnt appear in EITHER!!! Now since he was on and off my server before I caught him I wasn't able to even get a guid to ban him. Clearly though he has a hacked item. Now my question is if vilayer wants to be the white knight for this game why dont they take a minute and regularly sweep their hive for people with what are very clearly hacked items. Ban each and every person they catch with them and the number of hackers will be substantially reduced.
  18. well that sucks. Tools for finding/preventing hackers are crappy, the hackers know it, admins know it, devs know it, hosting service knows it, and the rapidly diminishing player base knows it too. Admins are the only one paying for this game right now and we get all the abuse for trying to do the right thing. Whats really needed: 1. Passworded servers. Need to strictly firewall them from non passworded servers in some manner. 2. Ghosting prevention, last server being the only one you can spawn into at saved location, otherwise back to the beach you go. That one thing would substantially cut down on issues. 3. Hive database checks for hacked equipment, repeat offenders should get warning email, temp ban, and then a perma ban. Seriously amazes me how I keep finding ppl with itemRadio logging into my server. 4. A seriously beefed up rcon toolset. 5. Vehicle should only move at player request if they are the current driver. IE teleporting them should be locked away. At very least this should be logged when it happens. 6. Server admins should have a method for removing griefer barbwire. Every admin knows what Im talking about if they've run a server for awhile. 7. Player location changes should be logged if they cross a threshold from the last known location. Right now most of the teleporting doesnt show in the logs. 8. Newly created backpacks when they enter the log file should show whats in them. Would make it much easier to identify the ppl who are summoning in backpacks with full kit inside of them. Without those things I think all us admins are just being played for fools at this point. Rockit would be well served to address the hacking problem b4 ppl are fully soured with his game. At the very least he needs to say hey, I'm working on it and in the meantime admins are free to fight it however they see fit.
  19. no pm then? anyone else interested?.. *update* I think I can figure out whats happend, I re joined the server there to check my camp, my ATV was completely dry of fuel - even though I saved it at my camp 3/4 full, must be a bug with the current build or something and I guess thats why the helo is in the same situation. Whoever owns it is gonna be well pissed when they come back to find their chopper empty, so the clock may be against us here. Now i'd say it would be a hugh challenge to refuel the bird without a vehicle on this server, so the owner may be able to get fuel to it ghosting or, it's owned by a group and they have the means to get fuel to it. That being said it's kinda sitting in the same place now for at the very least two days, by the looks of things untouched - I have saved it, just incase it would despawn or something.

    need help

yea server hopping causes a coastal spawn. Its an anti- ghosting feature that can be helpful to get away from the hackers that are just annoying.

Think a good portion is due to private hives. I've played exclusively on a private hive the last two weeks or so. It's been awesome. Loads so much faster. No deaths to hackers so far. Tents save and don't dupe weapons. No ghosting or server hopping and I haven't seen a single player combat log yet.

    too many 50 cal snipers

the timer before rejoining the same server would fix duping partially..and ghosting
  23. private hive ftw atm. Generally higher populated and a more balanced mix of weapons. Some hives have removed AS50 and L85 thermal, geared up now means having an AR. Add in the fact that there's no ghosting or duping and you'll soon realise that (as said above) private hive is how DayZ was meant to be. Also don't think small community, many of the private hives have 2k+ registered players...all for a 50 slot server.

    Event - BSB Bounty HunterZ

You'll never take us alive! Nore will you take us dead....that can only leave one outcome....your death! Step down all wanabe bounty hunters! The Outlaws will seriously mess you up! (providing you play fair as we do, so no alt f4, ghosting behind us from different servers or hack tracking) other than that bring it on!

    Standalone Yay or nay

If standalone really curbs hacking, duping and combat disconnecting / ghosting, then I am all for it and will gladly fork out 25 EUR for the Alpha stage it will be sold in.
