  1. This might have gone up already but I was just wondering the background story of DayZ. While I was looking at the released screenshots of revised house interiors it go me wondering.. Not how did this happen or why. Mainly I was thinking in what time scale this all happened? Was it very sudden or did people have time to act?. If any of you have been watching The Walking Dead, mostly season one and the few first episodes, there is a sense of panic in the interiors. Everything is messed up and stuff is literally all over the place. Those guys had some time before leaving their homes. On the other hand have any of you seen pictures from Fukushima after the nuclear incident? Let me give you a picture. In those houses there is normal household items on their places on tables and so on, basically nothing is messed up. Those people did not have time to get things from their homes. When the "bell rang" they got up and left their homes. tl:dr Screenshots of house interiors in DayZ standalone seem a bit too clean to me. So the question is in what time scale did "dayz" incident happen? Should the houses be messed up like in every other zombie movie or should they be peaceful and clean?

Is KOS really that big of a problem?

One kind of solution for this KoS and Alt F4 thing going on has been talked over suggestions. Simple as it is just add timers to server rejoin (no more ghosting) and for log out. So if you'd have to wait 30 mins before you'r able to rejoin a server and say like 30 sec timer while you log out (you can of course cancel this instantly and return) one would have to play trough their actions. In this light I think that people would have to think more carefully when to shoot since there is no easy way out of it. What do you think?

Is KOS really that big of a problem?

This game and this so called "issue" reminds me of all apocalypse movies and what is happening there. Let me explain - usually there is a lone wolf protagonist or a small group doing its thing staying alive and the they run to a big posse of geared grunts. Protagonist fights for dear life against this big mean machine and usually (it's a movie..) finds a way out and survives. The thing common in these to scenarios are that these to character types are present. The "nice guy" survivor minding his/hers own business and maybe looking for a side kick and the mean machine killing everything on its way. To me the problem seems to be that when there is no visual diversity other than ghillie, camo, bandit/hero skins and there is no way to use body language in a way that would be present in real life the game mechanics and the "everyone does KoS so should i" mentality turns most of those regular Joe survivors into bandits because they think that this is the standard of staying alive. It is (IMO) too easy to put your feelings aside if you will and go all "insert general FPS name" on everyones ass. I personally like to play the game in a way I think I would act if this would be reality. I tend to avoid players that I don't know. I sneak from zombies rather than just run and lose the to some building. I take only what I need and don't hoard for the bad day. I want to play it in this way and here is the big reason: Feelings. This game has given me the biggest joys of surviving situations or finding some precious loot. I once almost shat my self when I was in middle of a forest and accidentally fired my gun. I was so scared thinking that I'm in a middle of a fire fight with no idea where the enemy is with no where to escape and will just get killed here because I just happened to cross some ones path. I'd say to give out some so called balance make every item rarer and loose all high end military weapons. In a nut shell: Make it hard to just have LOLz while shooting AS50 from a hill near Elektro or Cherno..
  4. So the question goes as in topic. Tell your story about the weapon class you prefer and why. I tend to stick with assault rifles with stanag ammo and silenced side arm. Currently running around with M4A1 Holo and M9SD. Primary weapon is for defending my self in pvp (which probably I didn't start) and secondary goes for silent zombie take downs. My play style is Heroish meaning I don't engage in fire fights and help random guys if I trust them not to stab my back. My worst enemy is ( I think) everyone with M107 or AS50 which in my opinion are pointless and too common sniper rifles in the game (thanks to the duping). Where do you need anti-material rifle in a game where vehicles are rare already? (no need to answer to that :) ) Well that's my fare share and I do like that we have the freedom of all play styles but I would like to see the game culture to move a bit to softer direction where you would really have to think about the consequences when shooting some one.

    Advanced melee system for standalone

While I too would enjoy seeing some melee action I still like the intensity when you really have to make a choice whether to shoot and wake everyone or to try to escape other ways. Swords, baseball bats and such would be great but I can't avoid thinking Dead Island when you bring up makeshift stuff.. Rough diamond in my opinion and needs some thinking trough before implementation :)

    C130 Spawn Point.

I like your idea but dont' think it will be aligned to devs vision of fear of dead and such. This (while it would be awesome to jump out of the plane and parachute down!) would mostly make permacharacter useless if you could just jump back to your body and hope that nobody looted it already. To sum it up great idea but for wrong game.

    Introduce yourselves

Hi there everyone! I'm playing survivor/hero style all the way with my friend and usually just stroll around the map occasionally checking hot spots for gear if in need. Will not KOS but will return fire if shot upon. Steam: meansoap DayZ:meansoap. Got skype also.. Mostly playing on European servers (DE, UK, PL) and prefer the ones with +/- 2h from UTC-4. Over and out. btw: I HATE snipers! (from my point of view: how a guy that is running +1000m from you is a threat?)

    How to stop Ghosting.

I like the idea straight away! 30 sec log out timer (which you could cancel instantly if needed and come back to game) with 30 min server comeback timer would do miracles to pvp. Picture the idea that you would have to finish your battle or find good enough cover to wait the 30 sec log out. I personally like to play the game kinda hard style meaning that I only log out when I'm safely in some spot with not a worry in a world! Never QQ'd from a pvp or zombie situation and always ended ether surviving another day or the other...

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

Yes! Please do remove it, fix it to be able to stop zombies and injure/slow down players as it should and then put it back.
