Just a friendly suggestion: Could you please add some type of subheadings, and move related tips under the same subheading. For example you could have a section for vehicles and another section related to looting. I find this wall of text really difficult to read, so having some clear punctuation between sections would help immensely. -

1. I like the idea of salvaging parts from cars. I know destroyed vehicles are being reworked as far as interaction, but to what extent, I don't think that's public knowledge yet. 2. Backpack hording fetish? I could see maybe placing 1 small acu bag or something inside your bag, but I don't see a need for storing bags. Just encourages hording more and I am not a fan of hording. 3. Been suggested before, with a little bit of prestory associated with it. Wake up in a hospital, prison, back of an ambulance, etc. I really hope something like this is implemented to give your personal story a little more depth. I woke up on a beach...is a little bleh. 4. I think there should be higher volume of loot in the city, but as far as high value, no thanks. Just encourages a shitty zombie vs player vs player urban warfare bullet fest and detracts from the survival. 5. Yes. I like it. It's great and I know they breifly mentioned it during one of the dev blogs. I think it's just a matter of getting enough zombies on a server and not destroying the frame rate. I think they're up to something like 4,000 zombies per server. I'm not sure if that's with or without the new skeletons but I want to say before. New skeletons should be more optimal for massive amounts of zombie and not turning your frame rate to shit. 6. As a zombie fan, i'm not a fan of surviving the bite. Not a bad suggestion, just against my personal preference. If you're going to do zombie bites. Give players the ability to play as an infected for a bit. However, I see this taking away from the survivors game as everyone wants to run around and try to troll as a zombie (which would be fun). Maybe a novelty on occasion thing. 7. Solid immersion idea. Minimize light usage, etc. I like. 8. Meh, there's enough player camps out there. 9. Entire world is being redesigned for the stand alone. But this could add some immersion. I like, thumbs up. 10. This will end up being a pvp raid site. I can see it now...and it could be really cool. Clan on clan kind of thing. Jacking each other's houses trying to steal each others loots. No real way to defend it as no one can stay logged onto a server 24/7 and watch there stuff. I doubt it would work in a way that would be cool. I know they've discussed underground instanced bases to minimize loading information on servers. We'll see. I'm sort of against any kind of instanced base. It allows for hording with no chance of loss. I like the fact that at any moment you could lose everything. Some decent suggestions. I suggest reading/watching the devblog. A lot of what you said is being addressed. Some good ideas though. Beans for you.

I'm not even going to attempt adding any vehicles or modifying spawn tables yet, all I want is a whitelist on my server to allow trusted players on without adding a password, not sure how reading code and instructions (where ever they are) will help me install a whitelist seeing as the actual whitelist instructions don't actually explain HOW to install it. -
There was a lot of talk about DayZ standalone having some sort of tutorials that would teach new players how avoid zombies, or how to use weapons and vehicles, or move around. Most everyone was against it, and I am too. But I do think that this leaves a problem . How the heck do they learn the controls? Most people would just say, "why don't they just look at the options screen?". My thoughts are this: In every other modern game, this is not necessary. An argument could be made that DayZ is not like every other game (it isn't) and this would affecT the experience, but IT doesn't do that. Everything is still there: the authenticity the intensity, the oh-my-gosh-what-heck-am-I-doing. it's all still there. However, there will be no cheap deaths because you didn't know how to roll or jump. This would just make it so that you won't constantly have to check the options menu as a new player to figure out how to move or aim down the sights because you forgot how to do that. It would just simply help you have a more fun, more streamlined, and less frustrating experience in DayZ. There are two things that I think should be implemented: 1. "Educational" loading screens. The first is that we show the basic controls on the loading screen the first few times you start DayZ. No More Room in Hell, an awesome Half-Life 2 mod that you should all download right now, illustrates this perfectly: So, if we applied this to DayZ, we would have something like this: Oooookaaaay.... that was little more cluttered than I had planned. Notice that I streamlined the controls a bit since the SA is doing this. A better layout would be needed to avoid the clutter, but the concept is there. It just needs to be done by someone with actual photoshopping skills. That took me two hours. It's quite sad. Note: this would have the ability to be disabled via the options menu. 2. A hint system. The second thing I suggest we do is add in a hint system similar to Left 4 Dead. The hint system would show the just the controls and nothing more. hints would be activated depending on the players actions. For example, if he finds an item, it would tell him how to interact with it. If he's near a town, it would tell him how to change stances so he could sneak.If he opens his map, it would tell him how to place a marker. Hints would only appear one or two times, or if the player disables them. Hint's would only show controls. Nothing more (I can't stress this enough). Not how to navigate a town, or avoid zombies, or how to sneak. Here's an example screenshot to show you what I mean: You're probably wondering why I want this stuff implemented. The main reason is to make a new player's experience less frustrating, confusing, and clunky because of controls. I want to make it easy to get into the game quickly without ever having to look at the options menu for the controls, while still keeping you in the dark about how to avoid threats, or repair vehicles, or use the craft items. My second reason is that one of DayZ's major criticisms as a mod right now is that it's very hard to play as newbie, not because of the zombies, or the players, or the hunger and thirst, but because new players don't really know how to control their characters and the inventory system. Even players that do look at Arma 2's controls have a tough time with the game because there are certain features in DayZ that aren't covered by Arma's control menu or are just really obscure. So tell me what you think below! If you don't think it should be implemented, give me an explanation, don't just say something dumb and obscure like, "I just don't like it", or "yure a frackin retad yu hae know idia whut day z is abot".

Before you add a Whitelist sit down and look over all lines of Code, Scripts and instructions which are included into MySQL. Most of it is fairly easy to understand and more minor thing's such as where Vehicles Spawn, Player locations, Spawn Points & which Weapons are banned or unable to be found. This can be very useful when Administrating a Server; it can also show what Weapons people have in their inventory, what weapons they had in their inventory and also is the place to put further server Scripts ( Such as Auto-Refuel, Towing ect. ). If I remember correctly, you can also add further Weapons or Vehicles which would otherwise not work via editing the Spawn Table and edit the items which spawn inside vehicles (...Much fun was had when people found a PBX with an AS50 in it on my ol' Server ;-) -
im sure alot of players have lost some gear through it being destroyed due to not enough space left in their car or tent. a space counter would be a BIG improvment in vehicles and tents , a simple thing just the same as what is used for back packs would help greatly.

Good stable server. Fair Admins, killed them couple of times and never raged or kicked me from the server ( as it happened on some other server) . Lots of vehicles too :D. -

How to make death actually matter more

I think those rules are a bit harsh. I don't think a relog-timer or locking corpses is a good thing. especially as having the ability to make camps and store stuff in vehicles, overcomes death and making one exception for the gear you currently wear over every other thing you own, doesn't make sense. Having a severe chance for infection on every item, once you died, would fuck things up alot tough. I died alone on the North-end of NWAF, and even tough I ran there directly from shore, my body was gone before I arrived there. So I don't think being able to reach the body is a problem at the moment. It's rather a problem when the players stay along the coastline to kill newspawns. then the way is very very short. But if you had to disinfect all your gear and your friends picking it up for you, only enhances the risk of them getting infected, that feature alone would shake things up. Having Items degradable in SA, would also bear a risk of items being destroyed during your death. Things like that in combination would make death a lot more horrible than re-log-timers. They are just annoying. Locking the corpse is only unfair to loners and survivors playing alone. everyone with a friend can bypass it. Have you suggested that in the WarZ forums? they might like the idea there. I still think, to consider what real problems death would bring and to try to implement those is preferable to any plain "you cannot do that" solution, limiting the players options. Infection, Degradation, A lot more items and Encumberance System together will change a lot about it i believe. If you need to find clothes, to be able to get to the body, it takes longer. If your friends cannot carry all your stuff, they cannot loot you dry. If items are degradable, they might be damaged or destroyed, baring a risk of loosing gear with every time you get killed. So getting killed might not only destroy you, but maybe also your DMR, NVG and other gear you might miss. If the cause of death influences the damage done to the gear, shooting down a heli to get to the gear of the people in it, is a really bad idea. Try to get a box of matches from a burnt corpse.. shouldn't be possible... -

There is a good server that I play on, That i have been playing on for a good few months now. After all of the patches came out, there have been absolutely zero hackers on this server that I have seen. I am also an admin on this server. I prefer to help people with my abilities. I prefer not to spawn weapons or vehicles because that is too much work :P I can however give you a ride somewhere, or give you meds, or a gun if you are in need. There is a starting kit that includes(at the moment): -G36 SD. -Allice Pack. -NVG's. -M9SD. -Food. -Meds. -Tools. -
well dude I've started around 20k pplayers. time when even joining to a game was pain in the ass as you remember. I also quit after cheaters popped out. havent played 4-5 months. now everything is smooth as butter, lots of servers, less cheating scumbags and NONE if you go and register to a whitelisted server group which I did cuz whitelisted ones have no cheats or poor performance and more populated than a normal server. I suggest you to play the mod right now. no bugs like the old times, you can do some crucial things like switching main weapon to backpack weapon without dropping it on ground, ridiculous reloading hatchet is gone, there are new backpacks, vehicle-loot spawn is less bugged blabla..those little details are taken care of and it feels much much better than early times of mod. look for a whitelisted server group giving you and your mates good pings and have some fun edit: you have to try and see if you like modceptions. for some reason chernarus is still best for me. taviana is very good, panthera also. there are dayz+ and origins but I didn't liked em personally. there are also rMod servers, which unlocks all arma II arsenal vehicles - weapons. but the best servers in private ones if you ask me vanilla dayz + JSRS sound mod servers. jsrs adds so much to combat.

Hello all, For the past week or so I've bee putting together a clan and recently purchased a 50 slot private hive. I am currently trying to get a solid team together for the current game and in anticipation for the standalone. We currently have around 10 members who are active, most have been playing with each other for some time. So if you want to just play on a new server, or you are looking for a clan read on. You are NOT, required to join the clan to play on the server, the more the merrier. What is R.A.Z.E? Rapid Assualt Zombie Eradication http://raze-team.enjin.com/home (Note: I am in the process of tweaking the site along with choosing a sub plan to enable some more features. If it goes well, I will leave enjin and get something dedicated. We are utilizing a military type chain of command adopting USMC rank system and organization. The thought process behind it is and will be a para military group that is attempting to develop a solid team or unti after all was destroyed. We currently run ops together on other pvp servers along with our own and do some practice on a coop type server here and there, We recently purchased a server of our own. Basic starting gear with exception to NVG's. Server: Server IP 173.192.200.71 port 3323 50 slot hosted by dayz.st We are running Cherno (could change) Lots of Vehicles, and heli's Basic starting survival gear with exception to NVG's! Active and friendly Admins Note: We would like to do some events regularly like bounty, scavenger hunts, 1 death tourneys, live streams, shooting competitions etc. At the moment our focus is to get the server set up for optimal fun and gameplay. I would like to adopt a award system for in the field and out of game accomplishments as well. Outlook and goals: To build our foundation with solid members and create community involvement above and beyond just the basics. Having said that we are at the early stages here and it will take some hard work. We currently use vent, and that info is given out after registration and such. Basic requirements. 18+/working mic/active (this does not mean you can't be casual)/ team orientated. As we grow these are subject to change. I have come to the conclusion that finding a server with no 5039580398530+ vehicles, start with nuclear missle/24/7 day bullshit is impossible, a small amount exist but they only have 2-3 consitant players. But this seems to only be for my time zone (PST) Are legit vanilla servers more common in other time zones or even other countries?

Hey guys! My name is Jake. Currently, me and and couple of my clan members (State Farm Squad) have purchased a dayZ server. Its pretty good, we are still adding lots of vehicles, so the server will be restarting from time to time from the regular scheduled restarts (12 hours). But it would be a great chance for you to learn and try to get in good since we are looking for admins... Our server offers new players (for a short while, then we will begin what we call Challenge weeks more info on this email [email protected]) an amazing custom load out including but not limited to an L85 HOLO. There's some more things, but im not here to cover the gear portion. Our server runs a little bit of mods, it includes the debug monitor, Death messages(are a bit glitch), and you can refuel anywhere. we also have rMOD installed. This means that our Fallujah server is going to be running a lot of air/ground vehicles. To be on the point we changed the server to allow 999 vehicles but we have to put in the spawns one by one. This server is usually admin active, but there are cases where it isn't. The admins are very helpful, and love to play DayZ. Like I said the server is good for learns as the amount of vehicles. We also have a teamspeak3 server. And we also are going to start recording gameplay on the server.. The server ip is:173.192.200.126:3357. the custom start screen includes the teamspeak 3 info. I think, if anything, I'd prefer to have a "control tutorial / video settings test" kept entirely separate from the main game. Similar to the Armory section in ArmA, but without any weapons/items/vehicles. Simply a pure client-side demonstration of DayZ. Just a section of map to run around alone in, offline. No zeds, no gear, just a guy in his skimps vaulting fences and rolling around, learning the buttons. A few times (while trying to scrape a few extra FPS) I loaded up ArmA 2 OA just to tweak settings and check results without getting killed. I think a "demo area" could fill this role, and would be more useful to fresh n00bs than any diagrams. EDIT: We really don't want to give sneak-peeks of gameplay features to new players. It would spoil the experience.

I don't want anyone going in and modding DayZ. That means you can mod for "hacks", godmode weapons, and ect. I want it to stay the way it will be. Not only that, but we'll see the same "5000+ Vehicles, 200+ helis, custom starting gear + custom buildings and loot!!!!! XD ZOMG LOL YOLO SWAG 2013!!!" that we see so often in the community now. I'd like there be able to be MAP modding, sure, because that wouldn't affect much. The editing of skins and such, yes, because if you wanted to make a tropical map, just retexture the civilians, done and done. As long as it doesn't affect the game the way it does now, I'm fine with it.

Yeah its not that either. It seems it just doesn't apply the fix, its now happening on our taviana server aswell. Could it be a problem caused by the latest beta patches possibly? At the moment its a pain having to repair individual vehicles all the time in the database.
