I can use all vehicles except planes (haven't tried those since I play chernaurus usually). I'd say Vet since I have gotten to the point where the only things I look for are pvp fights. Role : I tend to fall into leadership roles, but I usually play as a front man in fights. I can play most any role though. The server is pretty neat. There's some good players that will help you out, and some that won't. In response to the comments made above, I walked into Sabina, found a car, drove through the rest of the town passing 5 more DRIVEABLE vehicles, went to the air field found a Heli ready and waiting for me. There is NO issue with vehicle spawns, I think that guy is just mad because his server sucks.... Try the server, You'll like it, -

Hi guys, If your looking for a server to play on why not come to 116ths server... we currently have an average of 20-30 players where 2 clans are at war with normal survivors/bandits still join and prefer not to be in either of the 2 sides armies (which is really good giving randomness and diversity ) Plenty of crash sites Plenty of choppers Lots of vehicles (300) We play on the taviana map and have whitelisting in place (which means we are 99.5% hacker free ) Come give it a try and see what you think.... The 2 armies (clans) have an agreement that we each have a base and are not allowed to attac or raid them but if your a normal survivor/bandit in a small group there is nothing against YOU doing so.... Or you could form your own army group with a small safe zone...details of server 185.2.138.60:3323 Hope to see some whitelisting requests from you guys. -

(Always wondered why this isn't in ARMA 2 since the first day) - Zombies talking to each other in a 80m radius? I consider it a too big radius but it's good after all. - Infinite zombiespawn rendering an infinite horde never ending until you fucking die? Bad enough to make me hate this fucking addon. - Gunshot even from a makarov atracting the attention of everything in a 2km radius?? well, Walking Dead style so I like it. - Imposiblity to use my fists, knife or any sort of melee weapon without having to relinquish my primary weapon? fucking bad. REALLY bad. Unthinkable bad. I mean, why the fuck I cannot use an axe/knife as a third weapon? - Cows rendering only 8 steaks? bad - Cows rendering only 6 steaks now? WORSE. OMG, it is a fucking cow. You should be able to feed an entirely group for 2 days with a single cow. I would say about 50 steaks, and you just take what you need. - ALICE pack only 16 slots (and in 4 hours looting today, haven't seen a single one)? good... in a manner - Epipens, morphines, watches, matches, painkillers, compasses, maps, knifes, bandages, gun magazines (only in backpacks) and other type of tinny items not being able to stack to a limited amount of them? Well, lets say it is ironic in a backpack as big as an ALICE I could only carry 16 morphine injectors... they must be huuuuuge huh? (On the other hand, carrying 4 wheels inside one backpack is also pretty ironic) Also, on my server all tents and vehicles went gone after the update. Server got reseted apparently, and my group had 2 camps with 10 tents each, full of endgame gear, plus 7 vehicles and a choppa. It isn't a direct fault of the Day Z update, but it still makes me hate it a little... Not to mention the impossibility to refuel a heli and get away without it receiving any damage to the windscreens, which will make the heli leak fuel (lol). Fix this first, then add zeds breaking a heli. To add, also, the removal of peripherical white dots. Why is that? There were to compensante the lack of vision you have looking through a screen, in real life if someone moves at your side and your looking at your front, you will notice anyway. Ingame you dont, so the peripherical dots helped to compensate that. So after thinking all day, my opinion is this isnt a good update. This halfaddons would only improve the game with the missing half, without them, I feel annoyed every step I do ingame. However, I like the infection addons, having different meat types, boiling water, flip back ATVs and so on. Not all is bad :) -
Everything is good, except these things: * [NEW] - Zeds spawn while in vehicles. -Yes, this is good, but when the loot doesn't spawn, and the zombies do, it's completely stupid. * [NEW] - Bloodbags can now give an infection. I'm not sure about this. It's good for balancing, but since everyone always says "realism is everything" in this mod, it wouldn't be very realistic that there would be infected blood in a sealed blood bag. Also, no one would use one that's opened. * [NEW] - Added moving combat roll (KK's Volt). -There's nothing wrong with this, ut it's just that you're adding features instead of fixing things like Zeds walking through walls. I know that's not part of the Arma engine like the zigzagging is. * [NEW] - After you have eatern a canned product you now get an empty tincan back. The can shouldn't be put back in your inventory, it should be dropped on the ground under you. That way, if you want to boil water, you just pick the can back up, so it doesn't get annoying if you don't want cans. Just a minor thing * [uPDATED] - Combat Mode is now affected by everything you do and everything done to you There was nothing wrong with the combat timer before. Now all I hear is people not being able to log out because it's so long and unneccessary now. * [uPDATED] - Zeds will talk to other zeds within 80 meter. 80m seems like a lot. Maybe 50? Some guy on here had a great idea. That they communicate and it diminishes after each one. Like a zombie talks to another one at 80m, and that one talks to another one at 40m, and so on. 80m just seems excessive. * [uPDATED] - Backpacks updated. There was nothing wrong with the backpacks before. And then to add insult to injury, the new weapon slots don't even work. There was just no reason for the change. The best thing to do would be to decrease the spawn chance of an ALICE pack. * [FIXED] - Temperature icon color now ranges from iceblue (cold) to red (hot) It's good that the temperature works now, but it's stupid to have it red. Well, not stupid, but it conflicts with everything that's red when it's dangerously low, and confuses a lot of people. Solution would probably just making it green (normal) to blue (cold). Everything else is well done, and I applaud you for not giving up on the mod.

As well as seasons, I would also like to see food/water supply affected by extreme weather. Im sure that this has already been discussed.. but I couldnt find it in my search of the forums. Basically my idea is for either an event that will last a week or so and only happen once a month (or once every few months), or even a dedicated server setting where the drought can be enabled permanantly, or completely disabled. I really want to see the environment pressure players to behave in ways that they necessarily wouldnt under regular cirumstances. During a drought, some (perhaps ALL) of the ponds (and lakes) would "dry up" completely: For example; in Chernarus, you could have it so that only Pobeda Dam and one or two other fresh water sources were still around. This would lead to more people needing water from the same sources. (More chance for disease and human contact). This would help open the door for a distillation mechanic, where people could capture sea water, boil it and distil it in order to get drinking water. Once again this would lead to more human contact (on the coastal areas). During the drought, apart from the few water sources that remain, the only way of getting drink would be from cans at loot spawns. Those who have the correct equipment would be able to manage during a drought with regards to drink, but those who are unprepared would have to stick to looting. The more people who die, the more who will not have the equipment to survive by collecting water from the freshwater sources, meaning more competition for stuff in loot spawns. During a drought, animal spawns would be reduced due to lack of water: The spawn rate of animals during a drought would be reduced heavily. (lets say 80% less). The animal spawn's could even be tied to the remaining water sources. With the density of animal life reducing the further away from a remaining water source. This would mean that you would have to hunt on an opportunistic basis. Leaving a cow alone so you can hunt something later might end up killing you. That or you have to stick to the towns and cities' loot spawns. (more compeittion and human contact chance) For a higher chance of hunting an animal you would have to work out a risk:reward. Are there too many people near the water sources? Would you have better luck hunting far away from water than you would near the water? Food/Drink Loot spawn reduction: To be even more ruthless, food and drink spawns could also be reduced during this period. Though I would suggest this would be something that would need more thought as to whether or not it should be implimented. I mean its not like a drought would affect the supply of tinned goods in peoples houses - the fact that people are turning to these loot spawns would in itself reduce the supply of tinned goods by an unspecified amount already. This would be for more of a hardcore mode I would suggest. (Would be nice to be killed by a bandit who really DID need my beans, rather than beause he was just a douche) Cannibalism: We have all heard of the pros and cons of cannibalism. Im fairly sure I dont have to go into any real detail here. But suffice to say that lack of food might "force" people to resort to cannibalism. I feel these chances would create a more dynamic experience. There would be more legitimate banditry, co-operation, and/or human contact. As it stands I dont think that dayz is really about survival. Its more about people "killing other people because its fun" or some such. Id rather people who do kill people - even if its to kill me - do so for legitimate reasons. New equipment (for bases and vehicles): Water Storage I think it would be interesting if you could find empty water containers and put them inside vehicles at the expense of either storage or seats (depending on the vehicle. Take the offroad pickup truck for example. You could stick the storage containers on the back and then use this water at your campsite as your freshwater supply instead of having to make runs to other sources. Different vehicles could house different size containers. Meaning some vehicles would be better for holding your water supply than others. (A hatchback would suck compared to an offroacd pickup or Bus for example) Your water supply being stockpiled in this way may make you a hub for survivors, or even make you a target since you have some valuable equipment during the drought period. If bandits have this mobile fresh water source then it would make them a target also. But this wouldnt be something that a solo bandit could make on his own within a reasonable timeframe. Eventually these containers could be used in base contruction in the same fashion. Only they would be permanant fixtures to a base instead of a vehicle. Having a vehicle and a base with the containers equiped would allow you to resource transfer. Meaning you could drive your bus to a lake. Fill your containers with freshwater and then drive it back to base. You could then park next to your water containers at base and transfer the water to your actual base water supply. This method of refilling a base would lead to you needing armed guards when going to get freshwater. Bandit groups would have ample cause and opportunity to ambush you. This would add more utilty and greatly increase the value of some vehicles over others. A Hatchback with a water storage system may be worth holding onto over another vehicle without such a system installed. It would once again make you weigh the risk:reward. If bases are instanced then I dunno how this could really be implimented. Perhaps have something set outside the base which will pump it into your supply? Im sure that there have been much better ideas than mine about this. New equipment (for bases and vehicles): Farming The water you store could also be used as part of an irrigation system. Where you could farm. This could either be on the surface, or even subterranean as part of your base Winter: In winter the water supply from lakes and ponds could be unavaliable due to them freezing over. But if you have a tin pot (or something that can hold water) then you can just collect snow and melt it. So water in winter wouldnt be the issue. Reduced animal life would be the issue. I would want a severe reduction in animal life in the winter time period. Once again this would make people hunt (though not in the same areas) and make more people have to raid to get supples from spawns. (or resort to banditry) Closing: Im a survivor, not a bandit. But even I would like the environment to force me to consider being a bandit. Not out of malice. But because I NEED what someone else has. If Im not part of a surivor group (or the survivor group sucks), I want the environment to punish me. To make me have to make hard choices. To make me have to do what I need to in order to survive. I want bandits to have to resort to co-operation. I want them to struggle to survive too, or at the very least shoot out of nessessity rather than because they are douchebags. As it stands, the environment is not my enemy. I barely even notice it. In fact the only part of the environment I have even begun to take seriously are the newly improved zombies. But the ACTUAL environment? I never really notice its there. I want the game to make me want to have to set up a camp that hopefully can survive the winter months. I want to have to stockpile food and drink. I want that if I get raided of my food and drink then Im going be going "FUUUUUUUU". Seasons and extreme weather would work nicely together IMO. The basic mechanics that could be used for both of them are more or less identical, just the drought would lead to a more extreme scenario. /hides under a rock to escape the oncoming abuse. -

Fraggle nailed it. There is little to do in the game, and it gets very repetitive. Usually that means you need to take a break from it and come back when maybe something interesting changes or you feel the need to play it again. I really enjoy flying the helicopters and planes around. I tend to always stick with the generic vanilla Day Z, but sometimes those custom private hives with 500+ vehicles can be fun too. I also, don't give a rats ass about my gear. If I'm in a friendly mode, I will even communicate to another play... "Hey man, kill me if you want, but I'm not going to shoot at you." Some days I feel like being nice, some days I feel like being mean. So when you've done everything your imagination can think of, and you're still asking yourself the question of why you are playing the game then that pretty much means you need to find a new game; as sad as that sounds. Hopefully the Standalone provides us the tools and content we need, to really make Day Z our story. -
New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult

Those 30 "Mississippi" seconds you see in the game menu counting down have nothing to do with combat lock or anything. They're always there. Everyone gets them. Apparently the idea is that people would only ever log out of this game if they saw another player, got scared and logged off before any action could ensue. I say apparently because I don't like the feature at all. But hey, everyone has a brain fart occassionally, so can the comm.devs. Like I keep saying, do things right or don't bother doing them at all. These things need a fix - not a nerf, a fix! - right away: - Aggro bugs. There are bugs, not all of the behavior we currently see can be intentional. Fix it. - Respawn times. There needs to be some delay before zombies can respawn on you or DayZ is more silly-arcady than side-scrolling shooters from the 80s. - Getting hit in vehicles when the glass is absolutely fine / leaking heli fuel when the glass is broken - Non-combat logout countdown. It's done in the most obnoxious way possible. Here's how you fix it: When you aren't combat locked, and you're stationary for 5 seconds+, you can log out. If a bandit had just spotted you, but wasn't quick enough to get you into combat lock, fuck him. His right to take a shot at me doesn't overrule my right to leave the game when I want to. -

The 1st thing I did was identifying where I was from signs on the edges of the towns I was near, then went straight to the medium value loot points. There you will also find details on items, weapons and vehicles. All you need a click away bro!, have a good time.

Dear James, First and most importantly I wasn't aware of racial slurs I will tell the other Admins to open there eyes to this right away as this is something we do not tolerate at all, Thank you for bringing this to my attention. 2nd of all I've never had a hard time finding or using tents what so ever, and I happen to have several set around the mat, I have a couple spare that I would be willing to give you, just hit me up in game my character name is Forest ! As far as loot spawn, believe it or not we already have reduced trash but I will bring it up with the other Admins and see what they think about changing that. As far as Vehicles go they are lots and lots 85% of spawn points are in major city's we wanted to encourage some Cherno / Electro PvP battles for cars etc, Slayer has done an amazing job at placement you will find them in realistic places, buses at bus stops, cars in drive ways etc... However saying that we want people to have to work a little bit for there vehicles, they don't all spawn full green full fuel.. however some of them do. Anyways thank you for giving us a chance and thank you very much for the feedback we really appreciate it, hope we continue to see you join us :) -
Everyone knows that flying over the tree tops in a heli allows you to spot another players vehicle easily, wouldn't it be awesome if the game incorporated camo netting that could be thrown over vehicles that would blend them into there surroundings?

I wouldn't mind the addition of spawning zeds when you are in vehicles if loot also spawned when in vehicles. You ride up to a city or building to loot and immediately have aggro from driving through town. You get out and have to either kill or ditch 10-15 zombies and when you get to the building you wanted to loot it still doesn't have anything spawned. Something needs to change.

Necro thread is necro. You realize the last reply before you was in july? There's no longer manual saving, vehicles and deployables stay on the server until removed by destruction or by the admin. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are to find a player who is in your path and has a gun, DO NOT KILL THEM,(Unless their a bandit) you will not kill them, try your best to knock them out. If you have a high powered rifle and can not knock them out, contact a field commander through team speak who will decide what is best at the time. When we go out on a mission we go out in a group, get close to the waypoint and then split up, we don't need to get our asses kicked because we were all lined up like a free head-shot store. If there is someone that is allied with us requesting help, we will meet up if we are not already moving together and access the situation as needed. It does spawn , i've had 2 since i started playing dayz in August. I had one on a private hive (not one with extra vehicles), and one in dayz 'vanilla'. if you head north out of cherno, through the little village, there are some barns on your right, a bit uphill. That's where i found the vanilla one, don't know if it's a spawn point though. -

The issue with Origins that I have seen is that some of the buildings suffer from nonsensical placement. Also, while the new vehicles are very, very cool, it'd be preferable to replace all vehicles with vehicles of the same type - Origins still required vanilla DayZ vehicles to round out the vehicle selection. Finally, the aesthetic of the vehicles is somewhat seperate from the asthetic that we are trying to reach, as we're striving for a setting hours/days after the event, rather than months/years. -
Well, im up for rather vintage vehicles and so i rather pick a GAZ or UAZ than a fancy Hilux or this black SUV.
