    Morale

    So here is my idea: Overview: Morale would be another icon above the thirst, hunger, eyesight etc in the shape of either a head or brain. Basically, when something happens, it may decrease or increase depending on what it is. As it lowers, the icon turns from green, to dark green, to red, to black. It shows the mental state, confidence and enthusiasm of the player. Decreasing morale: - Zombies - Getting into fist fights with zombies will lower your morale significantly. - Firefights - Getting into a firefight will lower your morale significantly. The closer bullets get to you, the more it will drop. However, you will lose more morale the first 2 or 3 times you get into a firefight. After that you still lose morale but not as much. - Night time - Unless you have a light source, anything that happens could slightly lower your morale. - Wounds - Slowly lowers morale. The bigger the wound (broken limb, bullet wounds) the faster and more morale is lost. - Killing - Would lower morale noticably. - Hunger, thirst - Slowly lowers morale. Effects of decreased morale: 100% - 95% - Mild shaking, hardly noticable. 95% - 85% - Slightly more noticable shaking, occasion cough. 85% - 75% - More noticable shaking, short breaths. 85% - 65% - Moderately noticable shaking, slightly heavier breathing, occasional cough. 65% - 50% - All of the above, hunger and thirst drops slightly faster. 50% - 40% - Frequent coughing, noticable shaking. Slightly heavier breathing, 40% - 30% - Shaking equivilent to that of pain. Constant heavy breathing. 30% - 15% - All of the above, Constant heavy breathing and coughing. Moderately occasional vomiting. Slightly blurred vision. 15% - 5% - All of the above, hearing things (zombie growls, footsteps, screams if you're a bandit etc) These would be faint, but get louder every now and again. NO HALLUCINATIONS. That would be stupid. Vomiting, blurred vision. 5% - 0% - You are a shaking pile of mucus covered slop. You constantly shake, vomit, cough and can't see. You are not far off death. The slightest noise could set you into another session of mucus expulsion. Increasing morale: - Finding loot - For every time you place your crosshair over a loot item and display its name, your morale will go up very slightly. Finding vehicles will increase morale alot more. This only applies if the loot has not been touched by anyone else, so you can't get buddies to empty their backpack for your problems. Finding weapons/ammo will replenish slightly more morale. - Campfires - Campfires will significantly increase your morale. - Friendly survivors - eg. trading items, talking with them, walking with them etc will increase morale over time. - Guitars - Should be added. This would increase morale over time, faster with friends and even faster with a campfire...and friends. Well, thats it, I may add some more stuff when I think of it. Please comment!

Also you should try Origins its really fun and better than just looking for crashsites and camping an airffield, so far we have a garage, house built and not even close to completing our village, you can go to salvation city for a good bit of fun to get rare blueprints to get better buildings NO BS 50. cal snipers cool 4 hour day/night cycle, ammo does not come back after restart survivor vehicles the list goes on and on ITS ALOT OF FUN!!!
  3. OK the basic gist is battleeye script restrictions. I have been playing around with custom vehicles on my server, but some of them, specificly in this case the T-90 tank and the GAZ Vodnik HMG, have a problem with the firearms atop them. For example fireing the mounted machinegun on the tank gives you a Battleeye Script Restriction #85. I know that this is in place to stop scripters from using the weapons on the tank if they spawn one in. But in this case, since its something im contemplating adding to the server, is there a way to add exeptions for specific vehicles or guns. Or is there a way to disable the specific script restriction?
  4. Hello :-) We are currently in the process of creating a small DayZ community. We love the game and it's beauty. We are currently two guys in the build-up and wont go way fancy on you at this moment. But as we have played on many different DayZ servers out there we have concluded that there is way much admin abuses on private hive servers, and a bad balance in the setup. We decided to do something about this for our own and got an server up and running with dayz.st which we think is the best hosting company to place it with. The server is placed in GB/Europe. We hope that this location is good at latency for central Europe. I'm stuck in the north (Norway) and get good responses with the server. Our main goal is to build the servers reputation. We do respect other players, and we want to help new players when they join to get a good start going. We have customized the map with extra buildings and barracks and minor details which makes the whole experience cooler than it already is. This is a Private Hive server ofc, and we would like to move the game experience a little bit further than the official experience. With 300 Vehicles, increased helicopter crash sites and more buildings with loot. We also have implemented Auto-refuel at the gas stations. And debug monitor is enabled. But we are pretty much limited to do nothing there, it runs it self more or less. This one is hosted by multigamer.no in Norway. - Please give it a shot if your location are inside the acceptable latency grid for European servers, and keep in mind we have active admins and we are monitoring the private hive server with DarTool - this means you can talk to admins in chat even if they'r not in game.   5. We are hosting a King of the Hill Competition on our server next Sunday (7th April) and it promises to be a very fun event. There will be prize for the winner. It is an all vs all killing spree to fight for the hill (position unknown until 10mins before start) which shall be a really fun evening on the server.     Dayz SA to be a failure

    Please excuse me if you thought I was the kind of guy that likes starting with a mp5sd with steak and walking around corners finding vehicles, no. I like having barely any vehicles on my server, and higher zombie spawn rates. What I don't like is going on to public servers and having fuckhead scream on side channel and just camp spawn, which will still be a issue in SA. Trust me, the first thing you will hear when you first logon to standalone, is prebs shouting the their microphones and camping spawns... This will always be a issue, unless rules are put in place, and since their will be no private hives at first, we will have to deal with prebs. That's why disable side channel and have teamspeak so I can monitor it much easier. Dayz would be nothing without custom maps, on youtube over 50% of videos are taken on custom maps, so are live streams, and rocket has already said that community made maps will not be avaible as they can open holes to hackers, but isn't battleeye and VAC getting upgraded and put in? Regardless, I see his concerns, but it's just another reason for no private hive servers, done deal.

    Oh my God/Allah/Buddha/whatever... ...a private hive that doesn't spawn you in with NVGs, free guns, ammo, and all that other falsetto jazz? Oh la la! Tres bien server! Seriously. These are SO rare. Are there normal spawn rates for vehicles/gear? If you take out the map, I'd be really interested in joining. What map does it take place on? Normal Chernarus, or somewhere like Namalsk? Lingor? Lingor is a dealbreaker.
  11. In the future, "Follow" your own threads; you'll never know the replies otherwise. Anyway: Use the normal dayz.chernarus.pbo (or dayz.namalsk.pbo I guess) and delete vehicle spawns you don't want, and move ones you do want, instead of starting from scratch. I applaud you if you do so wish to limit the number of vehicles on your server to a subpar amount; that would be a rather refreshing change from the "FREE M9SD NVGs 900 VEHICLES 20 HELICOPTERS" bullshit servers I see here everyday.

    Looking for server

    · Ping/Lag is generally good, and it helps that Wireworld has a 35 player maximum. · No camps or vehicles off the map. If anything is left over the map boundary, then it gets deleted on server restart. · Cross hair is off. Death messages off. v1.7.7 has been ready for release for a couple of weeks. There has been some hold up at BIS or BattleEye. It could be released tomorrow, or in another two weeks. The Wireworld owner got the code early from the developers. When you join the server, even if you are not whitelisted yet and get a kick message, the other server messages in the lobby include the Teamspeak IP and password. When you join Teamspeak, there is a link to v1.7.7 in the channel description. Alternatively, you could just wait for v1.7.7 to be released officially, update it using DayZ Commander (or manually), and then get whitelisted on Wireworld. Hope to see you on the server! 200 vehicles, 24 hour daylight, starting gear, name plates, death messages. Not very close to what Falstaff was looking for!
  14. DayZ Commander is definitely the best solution to the 'bad version' problem, and it is the easiest way to update and play DayZ. Just to clarify though, those are not servers in the install/update list. They are community-built variations of DayZ, some with customs maps. Most are quite large in file size, so I would not recommend installing any of them until I actually wanted to play. It also makes your Arma folder slightly more cluttered and confusing if you ever need to do some manual updating. The other issue is that you need to know WHY you want to play a variation. For instance, if you don't like the military weapons in the original DayZ, because you think it spoils close combat and is unrealistic, then you'd need to know which variations address that issue and how. If you think the Chenarus map is too big for Player versus Player (PvP), then you'd need to know which variation has a smaller map whilst retaining all the weapons and equipment you'd want to use. So before playing the variations, I think it is a good idea to exhaust the original DayZ mod; get to know it well and discover its flaws. By the way, DayZ v1.7.7 is just about to be released, and it looks like it could be the best version of the original DayZ for quite a long time. Back to DayZ Commander: The actual servers are listed on the 'servers' tab. You set your filters and then click 'refresh all servers'. One of the filters says 'any mod'. For just now, I would choose 'DayZ Only'. Personally I also set 'max ping' to 150, and I like to set 'survivor count' to between 10 and 35 for public servers (to avoid hackers, who generally stick to the higher population servers). Select 'hide unofficial' to only list the public hive servers. By all means give the public servers a try for a week, but remember, tents and vehicles don't transfer from server to server, only the gear that you're carrying. So if you find a vehicle, you'd want to stay on that server until you lost it. If you make a camp, you'll have to note down which server it is on, and 'server hop' when you want to get gear from your tent. When you meet a player on a public server, you really don't have any choice but to shoot on sight. And of course, when you get killed, your tent is raided, or your vehicle is stolen, you'll always be wondering if they were using a hack to find you or your camps. Some hacks are more obvious, and you may find yourself teleported to somewhere nasty. My advice to new players though, is don't waste more than a week on the public hive. Just have a go to see how bad it is, and then start looking for a private hive. They are not all equal though. For instance, only a few are close to the original vanilla DayZ - most have a load of modifications which turn the game more into Arma or Battlefield. A lot also have power-drunk, teenager admins who don't even attempt to run a balanced, fair, impartial server. When you get to the stage of looking for a private hive to play on, make sure to give WIREWORLD UK a look.

    Whats the plan post Standalone?

    A lot of people would probably just destroy the vehicles. I suspect he will continue to add vehicles, new features, weapons, loot, and details. Maybe even new regions at some point. It would be cool if they were all connected. Like if you had a boat and traveled East or South you could find some huge island (line Lingor Island) or entire new regions to the North.

    [SA] PVE mode

    I know this may be in violation of the Sticky Rules,but I have to say...... <_< I hope SA has a PVE gamemode,server does not allow PVP,any player to use weapons and vehicles can not damage other players. This will help new players to become familiar game,no players threat,no alert went to help each other better. :) Let separate players and do not like PVP players to enjoy dayz. :) ======================================================================================= Why do I have this idea?most came into contact with dayz,i think the biggest threat is zombies,but after some time, I think threat is other players,i often try to help other players,but most of the time I would get a few bullets, :( gradually numb, no longer believe that other players... :| my friend and my experience same... I think this game should not be so cruel, at least a new model let it not so cruel. :) better help each other to survive and Kill zombies. :beans:

    Nick, you are so wrong... The video i posted before is a vanilla server Basically it's how the beta changed with community configuration project, and how this loads arma's client files. (forget dayz, classes work regardless of dayz_anim) If you can't get them to load then, of course, your doing it wrong. UK 1 - dayzmad.com at the time had some cool features, also some vehicles like in the video. Stop arguing about things, you clearly are mis-informed. Here is ONE way to do it: (there are also many more, which are probably better if you know how it works server side) HERE dayz_anim was obsolete along time ago, for most peoples missions its not even a required file. Good luck anyway...obviously you are new, much to learn.

    DayZ Birth

    Hi all, I'm Nick I have been working on my own modified version of DayZ and have been testing it with about 10 or so people but i would like to throw it in the community a bit more Basically i'm calling it DayZ Birth (at least for now) and i have focused it around the beginning of the outbreak in Chernarus (like DayZ Origins but in the Chernarus map) so there is more Vehicles, Buildings and even some Military quarantine officers.... DayZ Birth has a lot of map, vehicle and weapon modifications. One of the largest Map changes is Skalistic Island.... - It has gone from being fairly pointless to a PvP hotzone with Military Barracks, Vehicle spawns ranging from Mh-60S SeaHawk spawns to Jackal and Humvee spawns, to boat spawns and its own bridge to get there and back fast There is also the Aircraft Carrier about 400m off the coast of Chernarus with loot and vehicle spawns but be aware.... it's easy to be sniped on a open flight deck... Vehicle and weapon spawns have changed greatly as well. - AS-50s and M-107s no longer exist in Chernarus... instead the AS-50 is replaced with the L115A3 Lapua and the M-107 is replaced with the M110. there spawn rate is also decreased so no more getting sniped from 1km away every 30 seconds Though the Military is wiped out, some of their Vehicles havn't been destroyed yet... - DayZ Birth has new vehicles ranging from light armor like the M113 APC to armed boats like the RHIB, From Attack Helicopters like the KA-52 (only main cannon is enabled), to Heavy Lifters like the CH-47 Chinook, to simple extraction Aircraft like the UH-60M BlackHawk - There are also many different Varients of Humvee All the information can be found here - http://www.officialn...p?pages/whatis/ along with the full list of Banned/Unbanned vehicles and weapons If you just want to get into the game, files with installation guide, server information, etc can be found here - https://www.dropbox..../@DayZBirth.rar There is currently only 1 DayZ Birth server which has alot of vehicles and is mainly for testing all the spawns and making sure everything is spawning properly but soon i will make another server with a lowered amount of vehicle spawns, etc for the more serious players Any questions/suggestions can be posted below and i will reply as soon as possible :) Thanks for reading and i look forward to seeing you on the server ~Nick
