Well, where to start? Well, I was running around (I can't remember where to) and I found a group of friendly people. I had an AS50 (My first one). When we went to the NWAF, everyone was just doing their own thing, looting stuff, searching for vehicles, etc. Then, one of their douchebag friends runs me over in their car. They weren't planning to kill me, their friend just thought it would be funny. Everybody was mad at him, and he kept my gear. I never saw him again. Another time, I went up on the sniper hill in Elektro and saw a dead sniper. I grabbed his stuff which included rangefinders, DMR, M240 or M249 saw (can't remember), GPS, and all of this other great stuff. I put my DMR in my coyote backpack to grab the M240/9. My backpack had 10 spaces. When I switched, of course the DMR mag disappeared (my only one) but there were still 4 or so spaces because the LMG mags (?) were taken out. So I went into Elektro, going to the fire station to find DMR mags, but on my way I decided to go into a residential first. After looting stuff on the 2nd floor, I look at the stairs because I thought I heard footsteps and zombie agro. A guy with a hatchet pops out and I think "Piece of cake". Nope. I back up a tiny bit as a reflex and fall through the damn wall. I fell unconscious. After I was about to wake up, the guy finally realized I wasn't dead and hit me in the head with his hatchet.

Edit 4/28 Note that Dayz Commander shows the server greyed out. Please uncheck your filter for incorrect arma version to find the server. The server is about a month old now and have a regular playing base of 30 or so people. Overall we have had 500+ unique players. We recently switched to Taviana but switched back after input from the players. Admins are always on in some aspect and can be reached through the Rcon or available teamspeak if any issues arise. The admins are all friendly and respect other players. We only want the server to grow. The ability for trucks and helis to lift and tow other vehicles has been added, also allowing for helis to store smaller vehicles in their cargo. This is the most recent update and will be tweaked in the coming week. Care packages are dropped on the server and have the ability to have either normal supermarket loot, tons of food, medical supplies, and most rarely high value military loot. After playing Origins and seeing the vehicle salvage ability we knew we had to have it. We have enabled the ability for players to remove parts from cars to repair other cars. New cars, trucks, and helis including the MTVR, UH1Y, etc. have also been added to the server. The loot tables have been tweaked on the server to eliminate some items (such as watches) which tend to spam some buildings. All high power loot has been tweaked in a way that will encourage many visits to loot areas. New weapons such as the Scar class rifles, some new LMGs, and the ak107 variants just to name a few have been added to the loot tables. The military ai on the server, which tend to guard areas where high value vehicles or high loot buildings, carry high value loot which has been taken out of the loot spawns. They are not unfairly powered and can be a lot of fun. The areas they patrol are changed on a weekly basis so players must tread carefully when they reach the northern parts of the map. Everyone on the server can attest to the fairness of the admins, their ability to solve issues that arise from DB errors to the rare hacker which slips by them, and the amount of player input that is considered regarding changes to the server. I'm with a group BloodBath and Beyond, which seems to fit exactly what you want. We usually play with anywhere from 3-8 people (only go 6+ for large scale operations...like mechanized NWAF take overs). We are extremely aggressive, bloodthirsty, and crafty. We have multiple camps across multiple servers, and multiple vehicles across multiple servers. We're a chill group of guys, median age around 20. We're looking for mature players, not 14 year old squeaky, trigger happy bambis. We play breaking point almost exclusively, and when we're on our A game? We take out 5-6 man squads without even one casualty. The average member skill level...is fairly high - we expect that. If you show that your gun skills are on par with other gun stars, and you show that you're good to have in a firefight - you'll move up the ranks pretty quickly. With all the donations some of these servers get there should be admin support 24/7 or damn near to it. they should act professional and only admin; not participating in play. Instead you get admins who half ass it and cheat their players for their own entertainment. I have seen admins horde vehicles, provide information to their clans/friends/etc. I could go on but I wont. The TRUE reason a lot of servers aren't full is because admins do not understand how to protect and enforce integrity of their servers. This isn't always the case though as most popular servers at the moment provide shitty load outs, scripts, loot and rule sets to go along with poor administration.

I feel like the OP has good intentions but maybe this method isn't the best way of handling the problem. A lot of times i feel like having the ATOC turned off helps a lot gameplay-wise, but looks like complete shit. It also makes it way too easy to spot camps and vehicles while airborne. If there was a way to make it so that turning down something like ATOC or object detail didn't make it easier to see things at a distance, I'd be all for it. I would also be fine with having the settings lower so everyone could run it easily, but fixed at a lower setting. I mean, there are some things that really shouldn't be optional. For example, did you know that with Post-Processing on, when you are in pain, your vision goes all blurry? That either should be forced or not in the game at all. With effects that would change and benefit players depending on whether or not you experience them, it shouldn't really be optional. Gamma and brightness is another thing, that kind of ruins the point of night gameplay in general. I remember before I knew about the Gamma slider, I was running around in pitch black with only a narrow beam of light to guide me and no idea where I was going. I miss being able to do that without thinking 'Why am I bothering to do this, I can't see shit without my gamma jacked up'. TL;DR: We shouldn't force the graphics settings to be higher because that would be unfair to lower-end PC users, but we should have graphical settings that affect gameplay be more consistent across different settings. Oh, and an option to turn off just motion blur would be cool too.

Origins Mod GX Pirates, Kazna server. (whitelist, PVE, donation required) really friendly bunch, and PvE with AI NPCs to keep you on your toes. LAB DayZ UK basebuilding auto refuel Pve/PvP nice admin, quiet server, lots of vehicles to go exploring and find your feet. Actually most of the servers have friendly admins when they are online, and there's helpful people if you say hello and tell em you are new you'll be surprised how people like to help out.

well the spawns are random on the coast always, so it might take you some time to meet up with your friend unless he has a vehicle. so you might want to think about playing some of the servers that have a lot of vehicles, there are quite a few. or you might want to try the Origins Mod where you get a choice of places to spawn that will often put you a lot nearer your friend.

We keep getting offers to help fund our Hatchet Reloaded server but we just point blank refuse. It is our choice to pay for it, We do it so people can have a genuine place where Admin abuse and losses due to hackers isn't an issue as we will just replace lost gear if it's a genuine loss due to script kiddies. Obviously we spawn ourselves vehicles but it's only when we are on Admin duties and we make sure everyone knows when this is going on :thumbsup: Lets hope the SA is well moderated and prior to it's release we get more Servers with responsible admins.

I must admit, on a whim - we've found a much better host for the Origins server, and are planning to set up a 30Slot trial today, its already installing! So our final 'loadout' of servers will be UK#1 - 90 Vehicles + 4 Helis UK#2 - Vanilla as above UK#3 - Origins and Braincraft.co.uk (Our Minecraft server) All of which have been spawned from the community of DayZ, many thanks to everyone involved!

We have now moved our server over to RMod to allow you guys to play with cool vehicles. I will soon be adding a list of vehicles we are using ingame. We have added some of the popular mods like AI,Self BloodBags, Siphon Fuel, Auto Refuel and Strip Vehicle Parts.

Saw the Kickstarter video for the Oculus Rift after reading about it on the Q&A list on forums. Thought it was cool, and that it would probably make my TrackIR redundant if it worked well enough. So I was wondering how many people play DayZ currently using TrackIR. I find it great for indoors, situational awareness outdoors, keeping track of team-mates when moving in groups through forests (can turn my head to look at my team-mates to see where they are whilst I continue running), and especially handy when flying choppers or driving vehicles (can look into turns much easier, and look behind me easily when I have to reverse). I'm so used to using my TrackIR now that if I hear something outside my FOV I can instantly turn my head to look at it. In games that don't support TrackIR (like 99% of the games out there), I often find myself turning my head trying to look around just purely out of habit.

Yes, all survivors can now join with a normal DayZ install without any extra mods and still use all vehicles, build camps and bases, and fight NPC's!
