  1. What I'm looking for: 2-4 guys who can be anywhere from Aggressive players to full on sociopaths. I'm currently playing breaking point, and I find that the majority of people I team up with in-game are either sqeakers, or absolutely useless in a gun fight. I'm tired of carrying 14 year olds, and groups of pseudo-bambis. I want a mature (18+ preferred, but you're fine as long as you're 16+ and don't squeak) group of like-minded gunslingers who know their way around the game mechanics, tactics, base and vehicle maintenance, and most of all - know their way around a gun battle. If you have a clan or group on breaking point that is like this, I'd be willing to check it out - if you're interested in playing with me, then send me a message. My play style: I tend to do whatever I feel like doing at the moment, some times I feel like being friendly, and possibly lending out a helping hand to a stranger. Sometimes I feel like murdering anyone I see, regardless of how out gunned, out manned, or out vehicle'd. I don't care about gear, it's fun to have a flourishing camp, and vehicles, but when it comes right down to it...they're there to be used, and I plan on putting them to use. I don't care if all I have is a taser and hatchet to my name, I'm slapping that thing into drive-stun mode and going out and chopping down some family trees. Trust is always an issue, and I'm letting you know now...I won't trust you in so much as I don't have a 1 - 4 bases you don't know about, or a couple vehicles stashed somewhere. Rule #1 is never put yourself in a position to be royally screwed. I won't. If you want to try and betray me in the field or something? fine. But I'm more valuable watching your back than I am for my coyote backpack and m14 AIM. Though I'm unlikely to trust you fully until you earn it, at least you'll always know where you stand with me. Honesty is the best way to build a lasting bandit compact. I have good eyes, good ears, I know when to keep my mouth shut, I'm not some socially inept basement dweller, and I put holes in more necks than tracheotomies. Skype: MATTTHORNZ

  4. In my opinion, for a survivor game, these 2 features are not so attractive: - Weapon crates at all airfields and major towns. - Vehicles and Helicopters everywhere. If the car's number on a 'vanilla server' are let say, 50 cars and 5 helicopters. 100 cars and 20 helicopters are imho attractive, but 500 cars and 100 helicopters are not. It’s also nice to find a nice m4a1 cco or a mk48 0, but only after hours of killing zombies with only a Winchester and a m1911. So finding them ‘for free’ in a create is not so attractive. My ideal ‘unique server’ would be; A bit more vehicles A bit more helicopters A lot less sniper gun A lot less military gun A lot less sniper ammo A lot less military ammo Just a good amount of ‘casual’ weapons: Lee Enfield, DB Shotgun, Winchester, Makarov, Revolver, M1911. A bit more ammo for those ‘casual’ weapons: Lee Enfield, DB Shotgun, Winchester, Makarov, Revolver, M1911. A rule that encourage people to play the game as it’s supposed to be played: survivors VS zombies (the are not only one can of beans per village or only one axe per 3 villages, cooperation IS an option as the loots table has been setup). A rule that allow people to kill on sight but highly encourage bandits to steal the stuff of theirs victim instead of killing them( yes, there are revolver’s psycho maniac out there, but the others will happily give a lot of stuff to keep their life and their zombies killed count).
  5. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Need feedback!!!!!!!!!

You're trying to appeal to an already over-saturated market. Ask yourself what YOU do differently to any of the hundreds of other DayZ servers/communities out there. I'm not talking about extra vehicles or starting loadouts or anything like that, I'm talking about something that no other DayZ server out there has, and why people would come to you. If you're serious about this, ditch the wordpress domain. Nothing screams 'not really committed to this' than a project with a website that's hosted on a free site. If you're not prepared to invest a few dollars in a domain and some cheap hosting, players aren't going to be prepared to invest their time in your project. Don't push too hard. If people enjoy what you're offering, they'll come to you and ask to join. If you irritate them by constantly recruiting and hassling people with messages asking them to join, they'll go find somewhere else to play where they're not bugged by over-zealous recruiters every ten minutes. Case in point - I've recently started playing ARMA II co-op missions with a group of players - they play it 'realistically' with a command structure, orders etc, but they're pretty laid back about it, and it's good fun. They're a clan, and it's a private server, but they open it to the public on Friday and Saturday nights, and I happened to be invited to play there with a friend one night. I enjoyed my time there so much that I now visit regularly and am toying with the idea of applying to join and play during the week - not once has anyone hassled me or asked me to join, I've just found it entertaining enough that I decided that it's something I might like to do. That's what you need to do - offer something different to everything else out there, and make it an atmosphere that people will want to come back to. If you do that, you'll win every time. And don't expect overnight results - this stuff happens slowly. Whoever said 'build it and they will come' was most definitely not talking about websites and communities. You have to work damn hard and nurture it without ever smothering it. Good luck.

  7. EU 1 DayZ Epoche Chernarus Custom Server. Server IP: 84.31.81.215:2302 (Or you can simply search for 'EU 1' in DayZ Commander or Play With Six.) _____________________________________________________________ Hosted by The European Gamers Community. www.eu-gamers.com We just had a couple of servers on Chernarus and Lingor Island, Namalsk and several others from august to december. But we got bored of DayZ and since the player base kind of spread out because of the explosion of new DayZ maps. So we had shut down that server. With regrets... Frankly, we just missed DayZ too much to wait for the actual standalone to come out. So we have started a fresh new server. And we are now trying to get a solid player base like we used to. At the time of this writing we are running the latest version of DayZ (1.7.6.1) and Arma Build (103718). EU 1 Server Features: - AI Bandit Camps - 50 max players. - Basic loadout gear. (to keep it a survival game) - 400+ Vehicles. (including 10+ Helicopters) - Scavange parts from vehicles . - Sleep. (Sleep at your own tent to regain some blood.) - Customizable loot. (Currently only increased the spawn chance of GPS) - Auto Refuel. (Park your car or helicopter next to a fuel station, and you will get the option to refuel) - Streetlights. - Building lights (randomly). - Quick loot spawn. - Anti-cheat by Battleye Extended Controls + Gotcha-Antihack. - Automatic backups every hour. - Automatic restart every 6 hours. Coming Soon: - Removable Car Parts - Create buildings by blueprint For more interaction with other players we recommend joining our Teamspeak server @ 84.31.81.215:9987

    Placed items not spawning

Fireplaces are supposed to disappear when you leave. With the tents, is this on just one server or multiple servers? And has the server restarted from when you logged out to when you logged in? Sometimes there can be lag where you place the tent or do something and you can see it, but the server doesn't pick up on it. Usually a sign of a bad server for you. Also when the server restarts, if someone tries to login while it's loading (timeout counter in top right of lobby) the server stops loading tents and vehicles and just start up, leading to some people not being able to see and access they're tents that cycle. It's still saved to the server with you're gear, it just didn't load. Hope that helps.
  11. @Applejaxc, yes it was^^ Yeah, that's why I said it would require people to have a mic that is easily muteable. (like mine, I just push a button on my headset, it's off, I can scream through the whole house, and then demute it and talk to my friends or random guys in DayZ again) But not everybody would like to spend much money on Headsets. (while you can get an easily muteable Headset for around 20€, those might not really fit your ears, and the one for 40€ that does fit your ears might not have muting possibility). One other possibility would be to have different Servers, but I think that would scatter the playerbase to much, DayZ is more fun with more people imho. Always depends on the number of players in the SA though. Exactly, it's the biggest Problem I see with this as well. Though I think if you play non-serious and talk about random stuff, you wouldn't care that much about dieing. I may be wrong though^^ (I think that on Vanilla servers DayZ is only really fun if you play it seriously anyway, if I want to make useless stuff I go on some private hive with tons of Vehicles, which wont be in SA at first anyway). Still, if you are let's say 4 people, and 2 of you decide to play something else, but 2 continue to play DayZ, you sometimes would have problems communicating with your friends. I personally also like talking to my friends through Skype/Teamspeak while playing DayZ, just because of better quality than ingame, so I think I still wouldn't turn off 3rd party VOiP software, and there probably are many others who think the same. I wouldn't mind to also be heard ingame by others though, as long as I do also hear them. (because, let's face it, even if I would perma activate direct voice chat for me while playing, those Snipers sitting somewhere and jerking off when they kill helpless people wouldn't do it voluntarily) I also think the game wouldn't even have to recognize 3rd party VOiP Software, you could just have the message pop up every time you join a Server by standard.

  16. So there's this server... I'm not going to give the details, or what pseudonym I use on it, on risk of losing the nice little system I've got going on. But there's this server, right? And I'm a "Hero" on it... more or less. I do help people, I really do. And I'm proud of what I do. But obviously being a hero isn't why I'm posting in the Bandit forums. I started out pretty nice on the server, bloodbagging and bandaging and epipenning and et cetera et cetera, right? All nice and helpful or whatever. I even gave a helicopter and a bicycle away to needy players. I wind up with the kick-ass bullet proof vest + button up (that I love so damned much) and head north, almost directly from Chernogorsk. I get past (Kozlovka I think) and come across this mixed-candy group of bandits and survivors, pretty well armed. Feeling like the cocky sonfabitch I am, I took my AKM and got more-or-less behind the majority of the players. "Drop your weapons and there won't be any shooting." I shit you not: "He's a hero, it's cool. Drop your guns guys." They start putting their weapons down, other than 3 or 4 guys that are keeping zombies at bay. So I introduce myself as (pseudonym deleted) and everything is very polite, hunky-dorey whatever lovey dovey. I was... shocked at how much respect and trust my skin had garnered. I made a group of 20 players reduce themselves to being armed in only a fourth of that number! Obviously the massive slaughter that followed was very one-sided; the anti-zombites stood close enough together that they weren't hard to drop. Do to the slightly awkward nature of picking up weapons from the ground, other players were similarly easy to dispatch. So I go on my merry way, having gone from AKM to full kit in a few minutes. That's about 1/2 interactions I have on that server now; "Don't worry, I'm a hero." *BLAT BLAT BLAT* It's a lot of fun. Well... for me I guess. The whole screen was blue for about an hour from the group screaming, threatening, cursing, and et-cetera. They kill heroes on sight now. I'm constantly on the the lookout for UAZs, URALs, and other large vehicles... they'll get revenge some day.

    Server mods?

I run a server. I have things set so that there are elements made easier and elements made harder. I have permanent wrecks scattered about the map that have a few weapons crates, but they are in vulnerable locations. I have about 250 vehicles, but most of them are boned and need repairs. I have a custom weather setup with constant extreme conditions that make it impossible to see past 250 meters at best. Also working on adding roaming AI that will shoot at you. TLDR:Easier to get weapons and gear, harder to survive with said gear and get transport.
  18. Advanced Warfare and Tactics group DayZ Chernarus Looking for some active players to join our server to fight or defend the Colony! Server mods?

I like a hundred or so more vehicles, NPC patrols, third person, new maps. I don't mind death messages, crosshairs on or off, shitty pistol spawn gear, rMod, Base building, 24/7 day. I dislike nameplates, 1000 vehicles, epic starting gear, tracers. Probably missed some shit, but yeah.

  22. The Hunting Grounds THG is a DayZ Lingor Server hosted by Vilayer. We have our own webpage, forumsand teamspeak. Our staff has both admins and developers. We are an open concept community and prefer to share our ideas and decisions with our players, so you'll see that even the staff sections of our forums are open for everyone to take a look and voice their opinion. But then again, you probably don't want to hear about that just yet. When it comes to our DayZ Server, we offer our players a variety of customizations, granted, many of them can be found on any server, but it's the mixture that makes us a unique place to visit and have fun, either alone or with friends. Here's a comprehensive list of all the customizations we currently have: Always Daytime*Dynamic Weather (by Enigma, no fog)1500m View DistanceVehicle Towing and Helicopter Lifting (by R3F)Wild Dogs (Custom version of Clay's Dogs)Vehicle Scavenging (by SilverScript)Siphon Fuel (by TorturedChunk)Custom Locations (by The Architect & Sten)Extra Vehicle Spawns (300+)Extra Vehicle Types (PKT Trucks, LAVs, and others)Who killed Who with What messagesTwo-Hour Three Restart CyclesMinimized Helicopter Crashes (only 2 or 3 per cycle) * Admins can set the time of the day to whatever they wish at any time! As you can see, we've implemented most of the community scripts that can be found on OpenDayZ and other sources. However, we have also implemented some "home-brew" scripts by our own developers. You may be asking yourself, what are those "custom locations". For that, I believe a picture says more than a thousand words, here, have a look: Also, let me tell you that these custom locations aren't just pretty to look at. Our developers have gone through great lengths to motivate players to go there. These bases offer everything a survivor (or bandit) may want, weapons, supplies, vehicle parts... Or just a place to fight over for dominance! Our server tries to appeal to everyone. Survivors and Bandits should feel at home. The size of Lingor itself allows for fast-paced action across the map, and the custom locations, increased number of vehicles and other scripts added to the server make it so you don't have to spend too much time "gearing up" before you can actually start "surviving". Now, don't get us wrong. We enjoy the survival aspect of DayZ. And our server clearly puts this into evidence. Our vehicles don't spawn full repaired (or even close) and finding a helicopter crash site is extremely rare, up to the point where only a small number of our players go around with .50 cals. We are not a fresh server. We have been active for almost six months now. Sadly, due to really bad customer support from our previous hoster, we were forced to suddenly change our IP, making us lose a good chunk of our regulars (unless until they find us again). In any case, our previous server was good enough to make it to the 23th position worldwide! That said, there's always room for growth and we'd like more people to join and, if possible, actively participate in the decision-making and suggestion box of our community. What else is there to say? I could talk about our admins, but telling you how we try to be fair and not abuse our powers is pointless. Who would promote his own server saying otherwise? I could tell you about how hackers are rare, but again, same problem. Bottom line: There's always complaints and there's always hackers. We do our best, but it's up to you - the player - to check it our for yourself. Well, I believe I've said my piece. The only thing left is to formally invite you to join our server and have fun! 199.192.203.189:2342

    A Few Suggestions

Hello DayZ Forum, I have a few suggestions that I think may benefit the mod, or perhaps the standalone game once released. Please forgive me if these suggestions have already been made, I have searched to no avail however, so I did try to look before posting. Without further delay, here are my suggestions: Weapon Maintenance I feel as though maintaining your weapon should be a part of the game. For example, if you pick up an old shotgun from a barn, chances are it may not function all too well if it's been sitting there for a while. Guns found in the dirt could be dirty and jammed. Over use could cause frequent jamming or misfire. Diving around in sand and mud could do the same. (some) Weapons brought into and submerged in water will not function right out of the water, and will need time to dry. A simple mechanic to repair and maintain your weapon would add some dynamic to the game. You could use the toolbox and some scrap metal to just keep it in shape. Fatigue If I could run as far and as fast in real life as my character did in DayZ, I would be Usain Bolt. I have sprinted upwards of five miles straight in full gear without stopping. I would like to see some sort of fatigue mechanic, which limits how long you can sprint depending on how much gear you have, your weapon, the conditions, etc. No one can stay up forever, perhaps resting you character? Requiring them to sleep? More Realistic Combat I am not one to say what is 'realistic' or not in combat. I have never served in the military or been in a firefight. However, I feel as though the combat in this game is a bit... wonky. For example, when shooting someone in the torso with an 5.56 bullet, four times, how are they still able to stand? How can they accurately pull off shots and hit me? Even when I get shot, it doesn't feel as though I'm actually getting shot. I can sprint to cover right afterwards, still be able to shoot, etc. For example, look at this video: at time marker 15:34. The player shoots another player 10 times, and he is still able to move around and shoot him. How come he doesn't fall to the ground? It just seems so fake. Look at Red Orchestra 2, and how realistic it is in terms of getting shot. Maybe take some mechanics from that?More Melee Not enough in this department. Also seems a little lacking. If I'm 6 inches away from a zombie, how does my axe not hit him? It seems as though I need to be the perfect distance away in order to hit someone, about 2-3 feet. A little more thought into this area would be nice Bind The Surrender Key Automatically Most people don't know there is a command you can use to put your hand on your head in this game. By binding this key automatically and making players aware of this, perhaps there will be more chance of capturing or interrogating a player rather than kill on sight. As dropping your weapon take some time, and may lead you to represent a false hostility toward another player. Increase Rarity of Weapons I may not be alone in saying that a military base would not be so easy to get into, even during a zombie apocalypse. The military bases in the game are too easy to get into. Simply find them, get into the barracks, and take an AS50. I would like to see these weapons be more rare, or the bases harder to get in to. I also doubt these military bases would have these weapons laying around, with ammo, just waiting to be picked up. It would make the game more dynamic if most of the shootouts were done with revolvers and shotguns, rather than a silenced M4, M240, AS50 and Barret 50. Cal Sniper Rifles. I doubt the average survive would even know how to operate these weapons, let alone be able to fire them so accurately at long ranges, or control to recoil so well. (Or sprint with a 30lb weapon so quickly) Some Sort of Currency? Just another idea that popped into my head. Perhaps this could encourage trading? Perhaps it would be better to stick with just bartering, but just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. With that, encourage trading by making it easier to trade with other players! Infections (non zed) If you get caught, shot, stabbed, etc. the wound will infect if not treated properly. Perhaps incorporate this into the game? Make those antibiotics that are so 'valuable' more useful. More sophisticated zeroing Any old Joe Shmo can pick up a scoped rifle, estimate the range, change the zeroing to that distance, and take a shot. However, I would like to see people having to take windage, humidity, coriolis effect, and other factors into account when trying to 'snipe' someone at long ranges. This will make the all godly AS50 seem a little bit less useful unless you take the time to practice. User Created Missions I may be taking an idea from....gulp...forgive me from bringing this name up.....WarZ....but I think user created missions would be interesting. For instance, if someone needs to 'take care' or someone else, they can put up a hit on that person in exchange for gear. Or perhaps someone needs a ride, etc. Like a DayZ Craigslist, cause you never know when to trust someone, but hey, you can try. More Everyday Vehicles I think we would see more Carollas and Civics on the road during a zombie apocalypse than HumVees and Helicopters. Water Purification I would never drink water gathered from a stagnant source such as a pond or lake without purifying it first. I understand there is soda and stuff, but the canteen that gathers water should have to be purified. Simple enough, add purification tablets to the game and make the player add them to the water they collect. Or make them boil the water at a fire place. A player could drink unpurified water, but risks the chance of getting sick, same as eating uncooked meat. Simple. Make Night Vision (NVG) Extremely Rare This is to try and get people to play at night, and also to get people to use the flashlight! This would make the game so much more immersive, especially at night. Flashlights are never used, simply because everyone either owns NVG's or just turns their Gamma and Contrast all the way up. It's a shame, as playing at night is a terrifyingly amazing experience. This is only the starting point to getting more people to play at night, but at least it's a start. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Player Created Ghillie Suits Make players create their own ghillie suits and have them whether and damage over time. Everybody and their mother has a ghillie suit in DayZ, it gets annoying. If someone really wants a ghillie, instead of just picking it up, have them gather leaves and bark and hay, along with string and other supplies and have them craft their own ghillie suit. And the longer they wear it, the more worn it becomes, and soon becomes unusable, and they would need to create a new one. I think that is all for now, I will update if I think of anything else Thanks! -Dbrow
