  1. Its a continuity issue. Sure, I like outside the box thinking. My critique is nothing personal. Until loot spawns are fixed hopping for farming is simply a symptom of a bigger issue. The 'fixes' implemented in the MOD gives by far the best balance across the board for the inherent *bad* issues of server hopping. A log out timer, a combat timer, and an avatar that sticks around a bit after log out under certain conditions simply *works*. Ad in one more thing, a '*log in* proximity timer', something to the effect you can not log (at your log out location) in if another player is 200m from your location could be a good work around for ghosting, when the area is 'clear' of other players you then log in. I always considered loot farming an area in the MOD as completely legit. An industrial site is never going to be as 'clean' as what you see in the MOD (or SA for that matter). Loot farming (IMHO) is akin to actually rummaging through the piles of junk, drawers, bins etc that *would* actually be in the buildings yet are not drawn.

Yeah I understand you, loot farming can't be stopped with out annoying g half the comunity but ghosting can easily be stopped with server time outs which in my opinion is more of a problem, loot farming will die down its only because it's alpher and people want guns to bandit right now it's over the top.

    Server crashes? Bad lag stream sniping etc.. Randomise loot spawns and block the return to a server for x amount of time to stop ghosting. So much easier.

  5. need to leave game for phone call or toilet business want to come back straight away after? no problem for you :thumbsup: :) click on 'PLAY' and you going back to same server is instant thing ;) what that you saying? you want to go to different server meet friend? ok no problem, for ONE TIME ONLY YOU CHANGE SERVER IS INSTANT FOR YOU :thumbsup: :rolleyes: what that you saying? you need to change again server 2nd time? 3rd time? 400th FUCKING TIME??? :o unlucky for you because now is 15 minute delay on join new server >:( ok so in summary for you zero delay return to last server :thumbsup: zero delay change one time server :thumbsup: but after this you wait 15 minute if you try change 2nd time in one hour :P
  6. I am saying remove the reason for server hopping, randomise the loot ( one server has x amount of that rare item scattered all over ) barracks cause server hopping. Please don't get what I said confused with ghosting yes ban ghosters.
  7. until a loot starts to respawn, there is little choice than to server hop. Server hopping to meta-game e.g. ghosting is evil, bad, wrong, and fuck you for doing it (vernacular you, not any 'you' personally, unless you meta-game cheat, then thats directed towards 'you'). @Ynneead, that kind of defeats the hive/persistent life concept now doesn't it?

    Zombie Respawns and "Capturing" Towns

    I think the idea of capturing a town is a neat idea, but I'm not sure how it could be implemented with the hive system. You would have people logging into your town, so you'd basically have bandits appearing inside the perimeter. I can't imagine any fortified town lasting long, as the deathmatch players would log into the middle of it and shoot everyone they could until they died. Not to mention it would be exploitable because you could "fortify" a military base and then have a safe place to farm military loot once loot respawning is working. The alternative would be to have loot not respawn at all in a fortified location, but that's exploitable too, since if a sufficient amount of towns got fortified on one server, there wouldn't be anywhere left to get food. I think it's a great idea, don't get me wrong, I just think the hive system adds a number of challenges to implementation that would be difficult to overcome. At best we could have temporary fortifications or bases being built from scratch outside of the established towns. I think those are already in the plan if I'm not mistaken, though. I've been pretty critical of the hive system for a long time now, because the system itself is so exploitable for so many purposes that it is the source of the vast majority of complaints players have. (Server hopping for gear, characters getting wiped due to hive sync issues, ghosting, etc).

    Maybe force feed you some rotton food. lol. But until they implement some other things to do say vehicles, it is pointless to stay north after gearing up. All this server hopping, ghosting, combat logging players ruin the military areas. I try to go with the "spirit of the game" and head south for some interactions. DrunknesMonster

  11. server hoppers/loot farmers are hardly even a problem and this solution would make the game worse, what needs to happen is that loot actually respawns so people don't need to server hop to farm, you can't blame ppl for server hopping for loot atm because the loot system sucks so much. So many more things need to be addressed in DayZ over this and its hardly a problem, pvp ghosting is the issue not loot farming and combat logging needs to be fixed asap. When you can't get loot in servers because it doesn't respawn and everyone combat logs when they die so their body disappears and you can't loot it you can't say loot farming via server hopping is really a valid issue that needs attention at this point.

    What I think the night should look like;

    I was surprised to see the power plant untouched from Arma II. I am really hoping they eventually implement power stations. Need two people to carry and a truck to haul the generator parts which only spawn at power stations. Perahaps need two people to craft it inside the power plant. Allow to fix and destroy the power lines and light up the towns. Hopefully when the game is fully implemented more people will play at night. I also think that in one natural day, there should be two Dayz days. Escaping the night is cheating, like combat logging, hopping, ghosting etc.

    Hey i actually said in my post that i was one of the mentally challenged people to ( have been guilty of some serious rants on other forums so i mostly avoid doing it LOL. Hey combat logging is bad ( oh by the way i thought by ban you ment perm ban not timed ban). but hey being able to see perfecftly clear in a almost pitch black night like its day time is a god like ability (when you dont have night vision or thermal gear ) so honestly nope there just as bad as each other giving the cheating player the advantage over the player choosing not to cheat.. How do you know 90% of people use it honestly that is just your cheap way of justifying your cheating while you slam some one elses way of cheating lol Cheating is Cheating there is no valid way to justify it specially when your trying to sound hardcore with your if you log well maybe DayZ aint the game for you LOL I dont log (until i am done playing and that isnt during combat lol i also dont turn my gama brightness up to cheat so um hey if you need to cheat what was it you said oh yeah maybe Dayz aint the game for you ( but i care little if you play and cheat doesnt bother me at all but it is a massive double standard of you . EDIT oh there have been some good ideas in these forums though for some problems like ghosting and Cl'ing server specific characters stops ghosting(limits it alot nothing stops these things completely) and log out timer does alot to stop combat logging (if they can make alt, f4 result in your body/character stay for the log out timer there are other ways around some of these problems. ( the gama brightness one is almost impossible though as remove the game option hurts people with bad monitors that need a little brightening and doesnt stop people doing the same thing with there monitor(although the effect isnt as good and clear as in game option ....
  15. Private hives are awesome they get rid of so many of the problems in dayz . Combat logging Ghosting Loot server hopping. All solved with each server retaining its own player database.

    Heya, just to add my 2 cents: Ghosting, hopping (mostly) and/or eventualy hacking in general are really a gamekiller IMO! I just hope they wil find a solution soon (timer, side lock. respawn location or anything else)

    Sounds like you're one of them. Jesus Christ, I had to re-read that sentence numerous times before I could even partially comprehend what you were trying to say. Combat logging and using gamma are in completely different ball parks. Combat logging almost gives you god-mode, not to mention ghosting... Then there's gamma which almost 99% of players do even though they shouldn't. In the end you should have to use your flashlight. You should have to make that difficult choice of whether or not you stay in the shadows or decide to use your flashlight and reveal your position. I'm not saying using that should be acceptable. It should almost be punishable but it's no where near as stupid as combat logging. If you're the type of person that combat logs then DayZ honestly isn't your game.
  18. Ghosting has been a problem now for years and doesnt really seem to be going away. For new players... ghosting is when your team gets into a firefight with another team, and a couple of them log out, log into another server, come up behind where your team was, and log back into your server to flank you. For example, my pals were pinned down in a building, there were 4 baddies outside. We killed a few, but they kept the door lit up and their friends kept respawning and coming back... eventually one of them disappears, then a minute later he appears behind us and kills one of us as the rest of them rush in the door... classy stuff. Are there any plans to ever do anything about it? Its a major problem.

    I agree, Third Person is as close to cheating as ghosting, hopping, duping, etc as it gets. It really pisses me off. However, I do admit that I myself cheat by looking over walls and around corners and the rest of it. I really wish they would add lights and electricity from the power plants, and forcing everyone to play in the dark. However, there should be 2 Dayz days inside of one RL Day. Evading the night is cheating too. Just has minimal impact.

    Thought server hopping was bad!? It gets worse.

    ARMA 3 Breaking Point already has a 5 min timer between servers. * That does not stop people from ghosting / server hopping. But the player honestly still has the obvious choice, should you run for 30+ minutes to get military gear, or wait 5 - 15 min in server hopping. Not to mention the chance to sneak up on geared players and no need to travel to find military loot.

    Massive Balota Battle Against Ghosters

    I won't beat a dead horse too badly, but my group just got into a massive, extended firefight against against a group of 5 (7?) Server hopping, ghosting KoS bandits at Balota Airfield. We were in three groups. 3 of us at NEA, one in Komarovo, and one at Balota. Our man in Balota observed a group of bandits killing bambis in the area, and to confirm our suspicions, he approached unarmed and called out friendly. He was killed immediately. The group at NEA ran at a dead sprint across the map to the hills north of the Airfield where we met and left a sniper on over watch. The other 3 with M4s approached the airstrip and closed on the Large building. With the sniper initiating contact with a clean head shot to a player in wait to the south, the assault team began rapid fire engagement of 4 other bandits. One was shot upwards of 5 times in the open before combat logging. Another went down inside the closest hangar. The remaining combat logged, and flanked to the trees north of the airstrip. I pushed into and cleared the large building with support watching the door. Once gaining lodgment in the top floor, a player appeared in the top hall. We killed each other inside. No player entered behind me, and there was a reloading sound shortly before I died. Upon re spawning at the Airfield, we located three more players who had logged into the treeline north of the green hangars. Our sniper engaged and killed one before the other two combat logged. I recovered the enemy weapon and took up a firing position. Two poorly aimed shots landed around me forcing me to fall back to the east. The same two combat loggers engaged me from the east, hitting me twice but could not kill me. While under ineffective fire from those two, I retreated to the hill in front of the houses. Hitting one player with mosin fire, both immediately combat logged before the remaining M4 team member could close on them. I have never experienced combat logging on quite this ridiculous scale before. I'm not QQing, but one of the side effects of the fast loading speed of a player into a server has led to an increased ability to jump around during a fight. StatiK should have video of this event, which ai will link to when available.

    You mean you've been testing the alpha. Big difference. Hopping will be fixed. Can we stop getting a new thread posted about it every five minutes? And no, loot has nothing to do with server hopping. Changing the loot system won't address combat logging OR ghosting. The best way to deal with a problem is at it's source, not by accommodating weak players who don't have the basic common sense to find gear. It's everywhere.

    Server hopping is a direct spawn of the loot system and how it currently works. The loot system needs to be fixed and rebalanced to eliminate ghosting and server hopping.

By causing people to start unconsious this would add realizm as the player would be just reawakening from being away (server start) it would also reduce server ghosting as a players would not be able to swap servers run to a location and relogin without a minimal risk. Also can you fix the bodies from immediately disapearing? Finally I saw a suggestion for allowing suicide what if you made zombies edible? A fast way to contract to desease and die. with this also turning the players into a zombie wearing all the gear. (npc controlled of course)
