  1. I'd like to have more (proper) control over stuff, sure. But AFAIK the current way of thinking is for them to reduce the number of options (clutter) on the scroll wheel / action menu. What I'd like to see is a very specific context menu, depending on which controls / objects you're looking at. Whether on the dash of a car or otherwise. As it is now (and in ArmA 3) the actions available on the list seem to be whatever's in your general area, as opposed to the specific objects you're looking at. If the selection was tightened up a bit, the number of available actions for quite a small area (eg. vehicle interior) could be raised without cluttering the menu. Using a mouse allows for very good hand/eye coordination, so I don't think it would be difficult to operate. And it would allow Rocket to make use of player-knowledge about certain vehicles etc. Maybe it's not feasible, but that's the way I'd like to see it work.

Quarantine NPC Squads roam the map and will kill any zombies or survivors they encounter, while they carry rare loot there is also a strong chance you won't survive. Military and custom loot spawns have been added to less frequented parts of the map, more zombies have been added and they now spawn throughout the entire map including forests. A weight and fatigue system has been implemented. Loot rates lowered along with new new skins, vehicles, weapons/items including radios. Mercenary is sure to keep you on your toes, one will have to be always aware of their surroundings, no more running away from zombie hordes, you will have to be smart, and play smarter than other players.

    Not having a date, makes people lazy....plain and simple.... with the whole laid back attitude... it could be a very big build up to ok-but-not-so-great payoff.... after a very long wait. And the arma 3 dayz would be a thing to play... with all the new maps... content.. custom bases and vehicles... weapons and stuff.... who knows... maybe they make such an awesome zombies you will want to play new Chernarus more than month... because not much gamplay difference has been made... much more are done on the free mod... much more people involved... could be a better game in the end.... ...or maybe I am wrong...

    This is the things, mods can't really say anything in these threads as they have the game, we don't. When you talk about Rocket being misquoted: he does so many interviews and in every one his answers vary to the same questions. I really do hope that vehicles are awesome...maybe we can even drive them on docks!!! As for BIS...whilst they've been extending the release date indefinitely they're also pumping out Arma3 and Take on Mars. Not enough manpower on the project in my opinion.

    There hasn't been a release date set since the 'before the end of 2012' one, people read too much into everything Rocket says and false release dates end up being speculated on by the community and everyone gets disappointed when they aren't met. The reason they failed miserably to meet the original deadline was because they decided to rebuild the game from the ground up instead of releasing a more polished version of the mod. Perfectly fine with me, a better end product can only be a good thing, right? It's a shame that there will be no vehicles on release, but again that's because they're being redone and will hopefully be awesome when they do make it in to the game. To be honest I'm glad there will be no private hive and mod support, playing vanilla DayZ again will be really refreshing to me. It's probably easier for me to not get worked up about it because I have the game and can physically see the progress that the devs are making, but trust me everything is looking epic and will be well worth the wait. I'm really glad that they decided to rework the game at a base level and didn't release in 2012. :thumbsup: Bear in mind that it takes Infinity Ward and Treyarch two years with a massive dev team to make the same game over and over again. BiS are only a small indie dev team and the DayZ dev team is even smaller.

    well... to quote Rocket " It will take a while"... a month of "take a while" is a very good release date... very relaxed one. I must admit I am not a fan of Rockets laid back attitude when it comes to promises. To sound so confident and sure about himself when he talked about new years dead line, than extending it to "when its done" deadline ..... ok ...fine... you broke the promise... you gave a good excuse. But now... again saying couple of weeks, hyping everyone about the release... and than all of the sudden we are back to "when its done" and "it may take a while".... and to do it so casually... almost like"well what did you expect, a release?... hah the jokes on you!" This is a quote from Standalone facebook page talking about Rocket: "Interestingly, he doesn’t seem too worried if people drop their interest in the game due to the delays. In fact, he seems fairly satisfied with that possibility." Seriously? He said he doesn't care about dayz loosing momentum. That is just stupid and cocky... how can you not care? First of all Standalone is loosing momentum... not Dayz. MOD is alive and well... developing fast. Arma3 is just about to release. Dayz mods are gonna switch to Arma 3. Dayz Origins, DayZero, Overwatch, Epoch, Aftermath... maps... Namalsk, Taviana, Takistan, Podagorsk, Stratis, Altis. Base building, crafting, new weapons, vehicles, attachments and all the awesome new stuff like ragdoll physics, graphics and animations that Arma3 is providing. And Rocket... he is stuck on zombies... and mentioning that you won't have vehicles or mod support in first version. He is convinced that Standalone is some hardcore game. Well I got news for you... it's not... right now, Standalone is just a promise... and one that has been broken twice... so i would hold back on the cockyness, and be a little humble for change. He is saying that they are busy but he is unwilling to show that they are busy with video blogs. Giving some really bad excuse.... They are so busy that by the time they would finish the video it would be so outdated that it would be misrepresentation of the game.... jesus... what a lame excuse... I sure wouldn't claim that I am busy and than took a two-month climb to Mount Everest... I am sure its a great experience.... but that just doesn't sound busy. That is not looking good in my mind... If I was Rocket... I would be very worried about giving false promises... and about the future of Standalone.

  9. I cant get my head around this one thing coming up over and over again: there is lots of players who wants the 3rd person to be gone, there is 1st person only servers and there is no players. This is absurd. And your earlier explanations about 3rd person being too tempting or some other sh*t is just rubbish. If people want to play 1st person servers they will, end of story. And there is awesome mod called DayZero and they got highly populated 1st person servers without 500 vehicles and 50 cals non-sense. And if you really dont find good 1st person servers you could host them yourselfs, if there is almost 3000 people behind this it should be easy task. You start your own community, ask for donations to support your 1st person servers, if everyone donates average 1$/month you would have 3000 dollars each month to cover expenses from your servers.

    Hey there community. I have the exact same problem here, only, that it won't solve itself when I change my ingame name. I have three ingame profiles, Including this one (FoxHound1710), [GSG9]Roach and of course the default one. Problems are the following: Everytime I shoot a weapon, throw a flare/grenade or GET any type of damage, such as hit by Zombies, Battleeye kicks me immediatly with the following message: BatlleEye: Setveriable value restriction #95 Strangeley, I can interact with the rest of the world without problems. Picking up items, running around, entering and driving vehicles, accessing my stash and so on. Only when I get "In combat" so to speak, I get kicked. :facepalm:

    Bullet Penetration

    They do, but not most of the time. It also depends on the caliber and distance among a lot of other factors. A good player might be able to do that but zombies in game are not rotten zombies, they are still alive and therefor not "soft" Blue on blue already happens without that because players tend to shoot other players on sight rather that remembering the positions of their comrades or due to lack of communication.I personally would love to see bullet penetration on people,too. You will have bullet penetration if you are in effective range of the weapon regardless the caliber but i doubt they will have that much force to actually kill anyone who is up to 5m away from the penetrated target if it's not a big slug since the bullets will exit the body in any direction and with the bottom forward. That is true...i've encountered lots of players who didn't know of that fact although they were playing a pretty long time. They thought because you didn#t have a LOS to the target he can't shoot you...WRONG! I shot other players through wooden or metal walls or through vehicles in clan wars and other occasions when they provided the opportunity and i had the right weapon.
  13. It's been suggested a year ago as I found out after searching. Thought I'd bump it up a bit. I think these vehicles should definately be included in a post soviet eastern Europe country, not only included but also be more common than let's say ATVs. Google Ural sidecar and you'll get plenty of nice pics. Just putting one here for example. There could be some variations with different specs and colors, a camo/military one (off road tires), and a couple of different color urban ones (normal tires, not good for off road driving). I think it would be fun riding in one of these, especially when sitting in the sidecar, and being able to freelook without having car roofs etc blocking your view. It would also be really sweet if the person sitting in the sidecar was able to shoot his weapon. Maybe there is a way implementing it in the mod (if they actually bother to include said bikes) by making the guy sitting in the sidecar not in the usual sitting position, but in a crouched position, not being able to change position, jump, or walk. He should only be able to turn a bit to the sides, let's say 30-45° to each side. It shouldn't be aesthetically bad since the player would be hidden by the sidecar from waist down. If this is even possible, then the person sitting in the sidecar would be able to equip a firearm and shoot straight and a bit to the sides. And as for balance, he'd be extremely vulnerable to zeds (and hostile players), since all his upper torso would be completely exposed, and shooting a gun -combined with the engine's noise- would attract many of them. Also by using this approach, the passenger is going to be able to hold many things except a gun. He could be holding a flashlight if its dark (or to make signals to someone far away), a glowstick, a flare, anything that can be equipped. A very (very) rough illustration of what I mean. Used this ural and this crouching model. I didn't crop his feet, they're hidden inside the sidecar, also tried to keep a realistic scale. Seems to me this could actually work. Feel free to share thoughts and ideas, but also try to keep the thread clean please. Below this line I'm adding every single idea that gets posted so one can skip reading the whole thread, and also to avoid duplicate suggestions. BigMike - Can also use sidecar for extra (they already have a small boot at the back) storage space when no passenger present. KoS - Attaching somehow blades (machetes) to wheels' axles and make a modern era scythed chariot in order to cripple (or kill) closeby enemies. Personally I find it a bit over the edge, not to mention that said blades would expand the width of the vehicle, should break away when in contact with any other object than flesh, etc. And you'd need a welding gun to make something like that sturdy enough in order to cut through whole legs, duct tape won't do it. Also methinks it messes up balance. You already have a vehicle with a shooter onboard, adding also blades would overpower it.

  15. If he trys to play the first person camera it is instant motion sickness followed by grab a bucket , huey and ralph . Yes we have tried all the different settings for head wobble and alike , it is not just DayZ he can not play any 1st person view game . there is 1 exception and that is flight sims . I suspect it has something to do with in a flight sim you have the cockpit in front of you then the world at large beyond that , he can fly heli's and drive vehicles in 1st person view in DayZ no trouble . I am not a doctor but maybe the muscles in his eyes are weak and they need something to focus on centre screen or else they wander causeing motion sickness , this is just speculation on my part . He can not even watch youtubes of people playing in first person view . any help/sugestions would be great cheers
  16. Im fine with waiting longer for the standalone it will mean we get a better game, but I want to get some things off my chest. Like many many players I have over 1000 hours logged on DayZ, probaly more like 1500 hours (over 40 days played). I have been watching the gameplay builds over the last few months of the standalone builds at the various game conventions. And I have to say that instead of getting more and more excited with every new video of these, I am getting more and more upset and confused. This is the most recnt video from gamecom that made me want to post here My concerns: - We have been waiting since end of last year for this standalone. This is fine if we are going to get what we want, I have no problem waiting for a better polished game. Nothing I have seen has really impressed me. Yes it may look a little better graphics wise but thats to be expexted. - My biggest concern is this,,,, I feel you have people developing and trying to sell the idea of the standalone who are not serious dayz players. One example of this is Matt. How much game time does Matt have played? And I don't mean playtime that involves game testing or developing, I mean actual game time. - I just want an updated better polished game than what we have now on the mod, there is not much that needed changed. I feel like your trying to add all these new things when infact you should be just releasing a better version of the mod and then worrying about what to add and change. - Big Point Now..... The Hud. The DayZ Hud is what makes DayZ the game it is. I don't want spammed with text telling me Im hungry, thirsty, sore etc etc. This is one big thing that has annoyed me a lot. I do not want the Hud removed. With the normal green hud removed it won't feel like DayZ to me. Get rid of the text messages, give us the hud we have come to love, just improve it maybe like dayzero has done and give us a percentage or something on blood. - Am I right in saying we are going to get a game on release with no drivable vehicles? Instead you are too busy working on all this other superfical stuff that many of us do not really care for or need instead of bringing us a better polished version of the mod on release. - Emptying bullets from cases and then having to add them to your mag..... really? - Zombies leaping at you..... From earlier videos this is horrible also, all you had to do was sort the AI path out. Its getting to arcade like. - I do like the first aid kit idea so that one positive, but I do not like the whole blood thing. Then you went into the whole blood type crap. Your making a game we love even more complicated than it is already. - The reason I have over 40 days played is the intense feeling dayz gives us. The music, the zombies the fear of gearing up for a few hours and that it could all be un done easily. You should be making zombies more terrifying and giving us a polished version of the mod, not a version of the mod that has went arcade/minecraft I will stop now, I just feel we are waiting and waiting and waiting and you guys are going down the wrong path right now. We want the standalone of the mod we love, not a completly new game. Some of you may agree or disagree, thats fine. These are just my opinions Your trying to mass market it for new players and its getting too lame Regards

  18. I know vehicles won't be in but, where did you hear zombies won't be in it? The standalone dev blogs they've shown had zombies in them.. it wouldn't make sense for them to take them out.

    Your Base Setup

    1 tent only... next tent atleast 1000 meters away from others.... and don't park your vehicles next to it... I usually use the vehicles for distractions about 500 meters away... Stashes seem very easy to hide... Haven't had one raided yet, wish they would give me 3 weapon slots instead of 1 on medium stashes......

We have a bunch(25+/-) until they are blown up anyway :P Tents spawn in maybe 30% of total vehicles...which we have alot of....

  24. That's the thing for me. DayZ SA already addresses most of the complaints about first person view. Looting, (easy) FOV changing, 3D character in inventory screen, smoother, less clunky controls. We'd only need different stances system and something done with the vehicles which are being redesigned from scratch anyway. Perfect opportunity to ditch the TPV altogether.
