Thanks dayzee :). I'll do some bandit hunting when I get home. relating to he ural, he didn't steal it - I had our vehicles in a bad place and he said he'd move em - I had to go to work then and he wasn't in when I get back. He should be on whan I get home today. He also seems to be a nice guy overall - didn't mind when I crashed our chopper LOL

Ah, great, thanks for verifying that :) Will end that discussion as it is moot.... We driftet from helicopters not beeing in the SA at the start. Vehicles was more a hypotetical. Completely agree :) But you have to remember that alot of players now spend end-game on repairing and maintaining a vehicle of some sort. And it becomes a VERY large part of their gameplay. As I said here: "The buyers" as in, some people will consider it. (not me btw). But the focus here was more on helicopters. As I never heard of no vehicles anyway. Best Regards. -

You both make great points but it's a bit of a moot discussion because vehicles WILL be in the game. The only thing we're unsure of as yet is if they will just port the old ones in and then remove them to overhaul further down the line or not include them at all to start with and then add them further along in development. -

I don't disagree with this at all! I can see how it would be harder in cars... but given the fact that I didn't use them all that often, perhaps you can enlighten me on one bit of context. Vehicles were mostly threatened by powerful weapons were they not? And powerful weapons were also something that became proliferated. But I mean if there aren't as many powerful weapons in the game, and ammo is more scarce, are people going to be going on the offensive on moving vehicles as much? In other words, will they be bullet magnets or something that people hide from or just ignore? Beyond that question though I completely agree with your post. Even for someone like me who navigated on foot it was exciting to see a vehicle because that usually meant that person was more of a threat. It meant they were probably more advanced than me as far as the weapons they had in order to stay alive long enough to find all the parts a car needed, or they were in a group, or both. (Although it could have just been that someone came across a completely healthy car and went bombing around for a while). The group dynamic of getting a vehicle together is an excellent reason for them to be in the game. Either way, I definitely think they need to be there at some point... but to not buy the game because they aren't there at first is a tad ridiculous. It's a rather narrow minded reason considering how wide open this game is as far as what you can do. -

The vehicles is not needed, they provide an extra element. Using them makes alot of noise and you are easy to spot and take out, you are actually safer on foot. To me the game becomes easier and more dull without them, not because I want a vehicle myself but the fact that they are ingame provides something groups can work for. Working together finding parts, fuelling, trying to steal other vehilces and be able to actually meet other players more then every 45- 75 min are important to keep the game alive. Navigating on foot is MUCH more easy, you have alle the time in the world, you can even alt-tab and check out stuff, do that in car with 70-150 players online and you will most likely have troubles. When the game came out I never even saw a car for several weeks, that`s beside the point. I knew they where there, and it fueled alot of my efforts, and decisions "should I keep this tire in my backpack?", "should i check that town even if I have all I need?" It is what they add to game in form of decisions and conflicts that makes them valuable, not that you can drive around the map. But as you said, that is your opinion, and this is mine :) Best Regards. -

I don't know how common or rare my opinion is but I could care less about vehicles in the game. I'd like them in at some point, but I'd be quite happy with a bare bones survival experience. It's much more difficult to navigate the game on foot than in a vehicle. In the mod I almost never used vehicles. I found it more exciting. That's just me though! I definitely want to see them at some point but if people aren't buying the game because vehicles aren't in it then people are buying the game for the WROOOONG reasons I think. I think a lot of people are forgetting that when DayZ first came out, vehicles were fairly uncommon. Like you didn't see them or come across them all that often. I never played any other mods of DayZ but I think eventually vehicles became proliferated on a lot of servers. But for the first while that DayZ was played, the main focus was hardly on vehicles or even helicopter crash sites. I'm happy with the game returning to that for a little while, especially considering that zombies are more of a threat!- 912 replies

First off, thanks for the answers. Second.... jump right into the concerns. I can play with the foliage problem, it is annoying, sure. But we play the game now, so there is no reason not to buy SA. If the games realeases without helicopters you will give the buyers a reason not to buy it. (heck, most of us will prob buy it anyway, am I right?) The mod have helicopters, why not the SA? And releasing without vehicles at all will be a mistake for sure. Using mechanics from TOH is a brilliant idea (use veteran setting as default). Making helicopters difficult to fly and maneuver will introduce more we can learn and more to overcome. This game needs to be harder not easier. I am really looking forward to release, but a release without heli`s or vehicles will just make me play the mod until they are introduced. Best Regards. -
Yep, public=official, all characters are on one database so when swapping servers you keep all the gear on your player. tents and vehicles are only saved to that particular server. Theres only one public hive. Not to be confused with Official DayZ Origins servers, thats are a different mod. Technically buildings can only be added to private servers. but there may be a few exceptions out there. (I've seen hackers add permanent buildings to a public server before.)

Hello, i bought a server on Dayz.st and am now in need of someone who can code some mods in for me. Naturally i will pay for this for which a price will be discussed. I am in need of: Chopper crash sites every 8 minutes. Auto-Refuel. Self-Bloodbag (10% chance of infection) Disassembling Vehicles. Also in need of some custom weapons, will give a list when found a coder. One more thing for my server is needed, i would pay someone to make me a very awesome loading screen! On DayZ Commander, if the 'hide unofficial' option is ticked you will get public hive servers where the stuff on you will travel with you to a different server but vehicles and tents etc will remain on the server you found them on. If it is unticked then the servers will be private hive and your stuff will only be saved to that particular server, join another and you will start a completely new character. Re-join the old one and you will have your stuff.

Is there Side Chat? I always like to read what goes on in side chat because it can create interesting things you can get involved in, so like there might be a guy baiting noobs in who you could go kill or help, talks of vehicles, people needing lifts, people needing bloodbags, roaming bandits, people talking about bases you could go find and raid. .

Hi, Can we drag or track vehicles with Heli in dayz ? I saw it on a stream, Dayz, but i dont know if there is a special mod for it. That was a heli draging 2 4x4 with a kind of rope. Thanks

Same, not having vehicles will get boring very fast. It was fun at the start but you soon get sick and tired taking forever to get anywhere especially on chernarus the smaller maps arent so bad.I'll be holding off and continue to play Arma3 till we get a more fully featured game. -
First and foremost welcome to DayZ. :) The servers in DayZ seem to run in a fashion unlike most other games. I'll do my best to explain the terminology you were asking about. Private hive - Servers that aren't connected to the public hive. In the 'old days' you would log out of one server and be able to connect to another with the same gear, however now barely any servers are connected to the public hive, meaning that this no longer applies. Vanilla servers - Servers without mods, e.g. no added buildings, unmodified loot tables. Origins - A mod for DayZ Taviana. As for everything else you said, I will do my best to answer it all in one paragraph. Your items are saved on the hive that you are currently playing on, meaning that if you log into a different hive your items will not be with you. Your vehicles and tents, however, are only saved on the server and will not be present on shared-hive servers, but rather only the server you found them on. As for them remaining where they are, it's more a matter of whether someone finds them or not. In a best-case scenario, yes.

We are a newly opened DayZ Chernarus Server who is looking for new members all the time, we offer our members weekly events with rewards such as there own custom ingame skin. Although we are not a completely Vanilla Chernarus server, I feel we are as close to as I feel necessary. Feel free to skip this: I'm really dissapointed what DayZ has turned into. 99% of the servers on DayZ Commander are just OMGZ 1000 VEHICLES, 500 HELIS, MOAR CRASHES, MOAR EPIC L00TZ, FIXED VEHICLES, START WITH AS50, GHILLIE SUIT, M9SD, NVGS, RANGEFINDERS...but wait, there's more! 10 MILITARY TENTS ON EVERY SPAWN, NEW AREAS WITH FIRESTATIONS AND BARRACKS THAT MAKE YOUR PC EXPLODE FROM CPU USAGE! Still not impressed? FRIGGIN' JETS AND ADMIN ABUSE UNTIL YOU BLEED FROM YOUR A***OLE, DONATE FOR INVINCIBILITY AND TRY OUT DUAL WIELDING AS50s. Really people, what the hell? This is not what DayZ is about. And these servers actually attract people and are almost full all the time. What's wrong with the player base? This isn't GTA. Read this: Anyway, I'm looking for a populated (40-50 players in peak times) Chernarus vanilla server, and by vanilla I mean no starter gear, no new weapons, no additional buildings etc., just the way DayZ is supposed to be. The only thing that I'm ok with is increased vehicle number, could be around 50-100. Oh, and no donator gear, this isn't about pay to win. I'm from Denmark, so yeah, European servers please :) I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

Big Door Features; Locking, boarding, other features for Standalone

Hey guys, TIC here and I just wanted to make a suggestion for the Standalone. I wanted to suggest that we can have an ability to board up doors, windows to prevent intrusion and increase safety when the time comes.. This idea would be great since from what I heard, we are able to go through 'All' the buildings that are available in Chernarus. Here's how it'd work. New Features regarding doors; Doors can be broken down via gunfire, hatchets, explosives, zombies hitting it for a duration of time(particularly a very large group)Doors can also have a lock mechanism which could allow players to lockpick through if they choose for a stealthy route to go through some buildings that are already locked.. No one in an apocalypse would leave their doors unlocked.Some doors can allow players to peek through the peephole before they leave a building to ensure safety instead of blindly running outside.Doors can also be repaired if they are completely destroyed. (Requires woodpiles to craft a large wooden board to allow players to repair, makeshift doors would be different than the original; weaker, open more slowly)Item Requirements(Directly from Razor's post): Input (): Wooden Planks(quantity from 1-9 which can decrease chances of doors breaking while takes longer to remove them) + Nails + Must be near a door Output () Boarded Door Tools () Toolbox FailChance 0.2 (Drop a nail accidentally) Enchantments = Nothing ActionType = Blueprint Benefits; Increases chances of survival by preventing zombies from entering buildings since they have the capability to run indoors.Could store loot indoors to give you a higher chance of players not being able to get through unless they have tools to damage or destroy doors.With boarding up windows, it can prevent the outside world from seeing you clearly.Could help give players an idea on the end game content of Construction for Standalone release.Drawbacks While crafting wooden planks to doors might sound good, it could give away your position by loud thumping of a hammer hitting against a nail and wood planks. Could draw threats in from the outside.Taking off these planks manually would take a longer time than putting them on, which makes them harder if that's your only way out ;)Continuous damage after makeshift repairs could permanently destroy the door.
