...about DayZ. Humor me. In my dream, I saw civilian vehicles with armor plates that players put on themselves. These vehicles had interchangeable slots in the interior like switching out the bed of a truck for a medical ambulance, or a machine gun. The vehicle mechanic system was even more complex than the medical and nutrition system. There were custom built bases with sandbags, gates, barbed wire, hesco's, and guard towers. Towns were filled with Zombies, so many that veteran players banned together to help fresh spawns get out of hot zones and helped them gear up. People had to actually work together to survive. The base building system was so intricate that you could build shelves, beds, bunks, armories, cafeterias, grow your own crops inside your base. It was amazing.
-
Maybe turn down the basebuilding a bit. Sound like you want to build a town :D AK is something they will add for sure.. Now.. I would like to see some basebuilding, but more like a camp and not a fortress xD - But the crops is a good idea (I actually think they allready mentioned this) EDIT: The plating on cars etc. is something I could imagine being implemented. Surely that could be one of the reasons why they are remaking the vehicles completely

What would you like see added to the game
Naykon (DayZ) replied to Monkey magic's topic in General Discussion
For me the mod added a lot of cool features, I like a lot of the ideas in Project Zomboid which would be cool to have in DayZ I.e fortifying buildings with hammers and nails, (PZ) putting sheets up at the windows (PZ) farming, seeds tools etc, being able to live off the land and be self sufficient (PZ) crafting water butts that fill when it rains, used for drinking and growing crops (PZ) some others: natural resources - oil wells (crafting distillation equipment for petrol for vehicles), Wood, Stone, (for construction) guilds/clans - territory ownership and the claim to the resources within those territories in depth character creation, weight/height/occupation/traits etc. -
I've also had loads of fun with the choppers, I just don't think they're beneficial to the game as a whole. They make a few good experiences but overall they just destroy the gameplay. IF camps can be so well hidden / camouflaged that they aren't easily spotted from a low flying chopper scanning the forests with a fine tooth comb, then I'm fine with having them added. As of the start of the mod helicopters have made camps almost completely pointless. They would have to add in a lot of very in-depth items which allow you to re-color or cover up vehicles and tents/bases. Otherwise adding choppers would just mean everyday your camp is raided and all your items are gone... unless you're the one with the chopper.

It doesn't fit the setting, nor would the military deploy a .50 sniper rifle in the event of the zombie apocalypse. It's not practical. On that note, .maybe a 50 cal could be added in the future, as a vehicle mounted weapon when vehicles and vehicle modding is added and working, and make the ammo super rare, because ya know the troops expended most of them on the oncoming hordes.

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
DocManiac replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
Shut up & take my money :) Seriously... if you keep in mind that its a pre alpha, you WILL enjoy it. Old fashioned DayZ - NO .50 cal noob-bandits, NO Vodniks, BTQs or other shit-tanklike vehicles... i really hope it stays that way. -

why didnt dayz SA start off where 1.8.0.3 left off? if it aint broke, dont fix it?
CREDiBLE replied to piffaroni's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I think that's a given. But what OP questions is the decision to base the SA off a completely new engine and architecture instead of starting with what they had in the mod and just continually develop. The plusses of the latter would be that all the functionality of todays mod would be intact (models, guns, vehicles, zombie and loot behavior). The reason they decided to go for a fresh approach instead of continuing to develop the mod into a full version has been elaborated on by rocket a great deal. I think his initial thought was the same as your. I remember he said somewhere around September last year that "the project was a failure if it wasn't out by new year". But the weeks came and went and rocket and the team saw the need for a totally new approach to many aspects of the game that needed more than just "tweaking" for DayZ:SA to become what he had envisioned. This includes the server architecture, the inventory system and the new animations. I guess these are the most important factors as to why they started fresh instead of building on what they had. -
Rocket, can u confirm if vehicles will be released in the alfa? and more clothes/weapons?
-
Bandits who have killed other military personnel and commandeered weapons, armor, vehicles and supplies. Obviously. Like I already said.

1. Factions From what I can understand is, that you seem to believe that people can't meet up over the forums anad form a group? They need some kind of "Out of Character" system to force them to form a group? Well, I'll use my own example. I do not play this game with any people I knew prior to the DayZ mod. Never have I played this game with anyone I know in real life. I have alot of new friendships I've made through this game, by forming groups that was formed because of two reasons Necessity and Lonelyness. I've formed these ingame and over the forums. I do believe there is quite alot of "factions" that is purely incharacter and does not need a faction system that forces them to group up or recieve a penalty. 2. I personally want it to be as realistic as possible! :) So complicity ain't that bad, it just helps give the game more character. Difficulty brings people together, if it's almost impossible to heal your self you will have to bend for necessity and group up. 3. Well personally I wont complain about the current zombies. Why? Because as far as I know they're just placeholders, I do blieve I've heard they even had planned not to add zombies in the early builds. I'll end this section with a quote. "How little do they see what really is, who frame their hasty judgment upon that which seems." -Brainyquote - Luv u google 4. No end game? Well you compare it to an MMO, I do not really see how your view of a "good" engame differ from you view on what DayZ endgame is. MMO endgame I suppose is -When you have the best possible gear and killed the bosses?(You're done raiding and/or pvp'ing) DayZ endgame I suppose is -When you have the best possible gear(Vehicles?). So by this standard, I suppose the endgame lack somekind of epic boss battle so you can tell people - Been there, done that. Fair enough really, I do feel that maybe could test the idea of a BOSS zombie in the Alpha or Beta just to see how it feels. I am somewhat against it, but I am open to try it.. Since wha the heck I have been wrong and will most likely again. TL;DR ? Sorry :(

Conventions ban the use of .50 caliber rifles against human targets. Is it so hard to believe early bandits were using vehicles that required more powerful weaponry? Any distinction you make in the interest of fiction is arbitrary and goofy. They needed heavy assault rifles and infinite rounds of .762 ammo, but sniper rifles were totally uncalled for? Come on. It's senseless.

What would you like see added to the game
pyrochyde replied to Monkey magic's topic in General Discussion
I know it is Alpha and most of these will be added, or are going to be fixed, or are being fixed. Regardless, the following: - The silly "How I feel" text system removed, it doesn't work, it's annoying, looks terrible. Just use the DayZ Mod Icons. WAY better. In fact the whole eating/drinking system fixed. Eating 30 cans of tuna to get full, then 2 seconds later you see a "you feel a bit hungry" shortly after is just lol. Same with the drinking/tired/all of it. Honestly DayZ mod was fine. - Fix the loot spawns. It's bad when people win because they either A.) Got there when the server restarted, therefore have complete reign on all loot, or B.) Server hop to get the same results. Loot needs to spawn more often, and should be relevant (Hospitals have medical supplies) etc - Zombies dying quicker than taking 30 swings with a bat. It makes the weapon useless. You take more damage then dish out. The whole melee system is pretty bad to be honest. - More player capacity per server. The map is gigantic, and there is only like 40-60 players per server? Rust has like 1000 I heard, and is even pushing for more. (I could be wrong & not saying I would want 1000, just more) - Vehicles/Base building/EPOCH stuff (currency/towns w/vendors) - A measurable day/night time rotation. Also listed in the server info. Right now like 90 percent of the servers are dark, and 10 percent are day. There should be a way to distinguish which is what. - In game chat system fixed. People sound incoherent most of the time. - As mentioned above, an Auto-run system. -

please remove the barracks at balota
[email protected] replied to outlaw1198's topic in General Discussion
There is no problem lol so the barracks should stay exactly like it is...the reason people aren't north yet is because there is no need to go there yet ....no vehicles ...no chopper crashes ...nothing but it will most likely change when dean adds more weapons and stuff to the game. Anyways why should people be forced to go north to get gear ? whats wrong with staying/going south for high end loot? nothing that's what. -
that's always been my mission, get away from the coast, but without vehicles or transport its on foot all the way, and like I say I cant get enough food an drink together to move out...teaming up is the way forward

RCon tools outside of the game do not currently work. This is because those operated with the use of battleye, which as you may have noticed is not currently in DayZ SA. You can however, kick people if you login as Admin in game. For those that have servers, when you are in-game, type "#login rconpassword" without the quotes and with your rcon password in the place of rconpassword, so in game, open your chat bar and type #login mypassword Then if you open your player list by pushing "P" you can then click a player and use the kick button in game. You will also notice that when pushing "." to change channels, you now have access to a "Global" chat channel, where you can type a message to all players on your server. DO BE WARNED! You can be blacklisted. Currently when you purchase your server, you are auto-whitelisted. This means you have access to the public hive. If you do not treat the community fairly, the DayZ team can and more than likely will revoke your whitelist privilege. This means anything you do on your server, no longer would carry over to any other server, and may not even carry over to a new session of play on your own server. You could be in essence completely blocked from the central hive of player data storage. Please DO NOT think that the DayZ team needs your server so you can do as you please. Everyone should have noticed the "Provisioning" time period they had to wait to have their server, even though there were over 100 servers already available. I would guess these were servers provided in partnership between the server providers (looking to earn money off those wanting to rent by advertising their names) and the DayZ team (looking to have servers for players to play on) Once the game is completed then you will probably have access to create a server exactly how you see fit, private hive, extra vehicles, custom loot and maps, and mods ta'boot. Until then and after then, in the world of public hives, you are literally under the control of the development teams wishes on what they want the experience to be like across all servers. And it should be this way, people shouldn't have access to special rules on one server, and be able to carry their character over to another server with a different set of rules. When private hives are available, then you will be able to set all your own rules. Also the reason the server cost is so high, is in part due to the game being in alpha and not being fully optomized, and in part due to the coming requirements as player pool and zombie/loot numbers all increase. You are paying for good hardware on a good connection. Ok, so, we're all probably paying a little bit more than needed because anyone will squeeze a ripe fruit for more juice, but this isn't the DayZ Development teams fault, and if you are paying so you can have your "own" server, then you should really honestly wait until you can have your "own" server for real. Our server is established as a gaming community and we use the contributions and advertisements off our website to help pay for our server, so it's not "Our" server, it's the communities server. We just administrate it, and are looking for qualified admins to bring on board as the game develops and requires an admins presence.

It's not the military spawns. I have to assume they will be lowered at some point though. It's a lot of people new to dayz. A lot of people who never leave the coast even in the mod. No vehicles. People losing lives due to updates, glitches and server errors. Did I mention no vehicles? A LOT of people try to get fully geared before heading north. I could go on but won't. lol I haven't even been to the cherno or elektro yet. I always head north. Habit.
-
Not yet, probably not during the alpha period at all. More important stuff has to be added in to the game first, not to mention bugs that most definitely will appear during development. Vehicles will appear sometime. Rocket has talked about this somewhere. Not sure where, it might have been in a stream.
-
From rockets most recent post "Eventually, we would like to see these different communities on their own db running their own variations of DayZ to meet specific communities needs." That to me sounds like private servers! Well the bit regarding "their own variations of DayZ" does.Really hope this isn't the case. Can't think of anything worse than 24/7 daylight and 1000000 vehicles.

The game needs a bandit system/rewards for being either good or bad
Perrywinkle replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
I always thought that the penalty would come from the environment... If you KOS someone in a city, better be able to deal with every zombie in earshot that your shots attract (or get out really quick). DayZ just needs more metagame. Something that only multiple people banded together could accomplish that a solo player could not (Repairing vehicles, self-sustaining camp, etc.). Having some stat or bandit identifying feature is something that was taken out so early in the mod because it couldn't be properly implemented. People who kill in self-defense are tagged as "bad" just as quickly as those that instigate. Every encounter has to be an unknown or the game loses its luster. Giving you a killmail is pretty lame too. That character will never know who killed them, they are dead. You may even team up with that person some other time, who knows. It also prevents QQing on this forum about "Big Bad Bandit Clan X". -
yet another story of how you can trust no one.
782B replied to thecoolestloseryouknow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well first and foremost, I personally believe people can play this thing anyway they please, without hacking etc of course. I don't go about killing other players just cause I simply get no enjoyment from it but I don't actually find it especially hard to avoid others either. I use the hatchet to fight Zeds so I usually hear trigger happy people from a long way off. I'm usually moving from cover to cover, using land contour lines to mask my movements, using flares and smoke to distract groups that get too close while I leg it the other way and I always hit the dirt and hide if I hear a vehicles. Saying that I've been hounded for an hour through thick woodland by the loud, light shining "little bird" at night which eventually lost its interest or its sight of me. I was stalked by a pair of gun toting nutters after hearing them approach the crash site I was halfway through searching, in their old beat up sedan. I had to crawl a long way to Stary Sober where thank the gods some other poor dude was whaling on Zeds with an AK, that poor guy I could hear them open up on him as I bolted over the hill to the south. Twice I've even been running through a building killing Zeds with a hatchet and come face to face with a similarly hatchet welding player as we both rounded the corner of a hallway. There was a strange 1 sec surprised stare-off ending usually with us each turning around and going or separate ways. I guess I just don't need interaction with others, good or bad. I'm still just enjoying exploring and splatting Zeds and I like the feeling of "shoot or maybe be shot!" every time I lay eyes on another human. If you really want to play with others just join one of their funny cults (clans). But if you choose to interact with others surely it makes sense that it should carry a risk. Now personally I have no respect for players that have to deceive people to be able to kill them, it just seems boring to me, I mean when I'd imagine you could have loads more fun hunting them all across "virtual" creation while pitting your skill set against theirs. Would you believe I have only killed one other player in the 6+ months I've played and that was at the end of my first week. My first mistake was logging out the night before in a building in the NWAF you know one of the long low ones with the loads of doors and I logged back in the next day to the sound of gunfire outside. What to do, I figured maybe he has already been through this building and the shots will move away and I can escape from the area but they didn't, they got closer. So I hid in the last room at the end of the corridor and peeked out at the closed front door it opened and there he was, had he seen me, does he know I'm here and there no way out of here I thought, so I lay down on the ground and started trying to figure out which text to use the "side" or "direct" and what the hell to type. I don't know if he saw me or just started searching the building from the back but he rounded the corner just as I typed friendly and he opened up on me with the M4 on full auto and he defiently clipped me cause i was bleeding but i could hear the rest crash into the wall behind me. I don't know if he was aiming with the crosshairs and we were too close or it was because I was wearing a gillie suit and he couldn't figure out what the hell was on the ground in front of him at first. Now I had that Remmington shotgun with the flash light id been using the night before to see what the hell I was doing, it was loaded with the red shot shells I hit return said "friendly" in the direct channel and fired the eight rounds into him, at that range it was over quick. Hearing Zeds scream outside I took a few seconds to type "I'm not going to touch your gear cause I didn't want any trouble" and reloaded, shooting two Zeds at the front door and I fecking legged it eventually hiding in some trees to use a bandage. I could hear shooting somewhere else in the NWAF so I figured I'd head away from it in case he was with them and they were coming for vengeance as he screamed at them on team speak or some such. He was back on quickly and typed "why don't you die" on side and to be honest I had no answer for him, so I ignored it and just played on. "The point the point you waffling idiot" I hear you scream.... is, I don't think I would have had those experiences if the game was set up different and they sure as hell got my pulse racing. Oh as a slight aside, I've been playing on hardcore servers with all the stuff (crosshairs, 3rd person, death messages, side channel etc) turned off and it's been much more fun. Wondering through the woods at night in the fog is a trip.
