Hello Forum, this is my first post but before I start I want so say something about myself I started playing the dayz mod about 1,5 years ago I liked it pretty much but I thought some things were missing then I found Dayz Origins and I have to say that I loved it. Dayz Origins had many things that I missed in the dayz mod (and also now in the Standalone) the mains aspects were base buliding (espacially that you can collect things), a in my opinion more varied map and the benefits of playing in a group which are in Origins bigger then in the Mod and that it didnt took you 4 hours or more to get a working vehicle. I also checked out Dayz Epoch a few Times but I have to say I dont know why so many people play it I mean Epoch hast some very nice features but in my opinion the way of getting loot and all the other things is broken and so Epoch didnt feel like a post apocalyptic world game more like a Arma 2 with some more features. The reason I write this Thread is that I was very confused while I read the Threads in the forum espacially in the suggestion forum and everybody ask's for these little things like other scopes or smoke grenades or whatever. Every Update I wachted the list of new features, changes and fixes and was a bit frustated and now please really dont misunderstand me I know the whole team is working hard on this game and appreciate your work I also know that there are different people working on different things but still I am a bit confused after reading the patch nodes. The thing is that many nice little features get into the game something like different colors for clothes or other little things but I think the order of implementing these things is wrong. I dont know how the most players of the community feel by playing the standalone but I think that it is very boring at the moment. I know the game is in the Alpha yet and im happy that Mr. Rocket gave us the game so early so that we can co-create a game that makes a big part of the community happy. I also have to admit that I didnt read everything in the forums, news etc. so if say something wrong or things like that feel free to correct me. A time ago I read that one player said that Dayz at the moment is nothing more like a nice looking "running simulator" I had to smirk about it because as I thought about it I saw he is right. For me the game feels like this spawn --> run through the map for 2 hours without finding something special like a gun or whatever and then die. So what I want to say is that I wish that first the important things get implanted so the game makes more fun for the community and then you can patch everything like different clothes, smoke grenades and whatever. In the following you can read a list that I made with the things which should be implanted first in my opinion: 1. Vehicles In my opinion this is the thing I miss most in Dayz at the moment it takes so much time to run through the map and guns and things like that are so rare that I often let myself get killed to get a better spawn place near Balota or the big City's also its very very difficult and often takes a long time to meet friends. I know that it is not that easy to implement Vehicles into the new Engine at a moment's notice and that we also would get vehicles in a later update but if we could get something like bikes, that makes us faster espacially near the coast and at places like Solninchy and Berenzino now or as soon as possible that would be awesome. I know that there are also some player who are against many vehicles but I think that if we get Vehicles in a ammount between the dayz mod and origins it would make the gameplay much better and would still be a post apocalyptic zombie survial simulation. (I have the picture of the Walking Dead as a Game in my head) 2. Base's or something to storage things The in my opinion second most important thing that should get into the game asap is something were player can storage weapons, food or whatever because then players can start building something like camps etc. and start collection things which is a aspect for me that makes much fun and would be great for some Teamplay. Also it would solves the problem that if you finally have good enoguh weapons to rob players you dont need to rob players because you have good weapons. A way to implemant this without that much work could be the tents from the mod or the safe's from epoch sure later underground houses or things like this would be much better but I think that this are only little "cosmetic changes". 3. Zombies and Loot System Sure I think this would get reworked in one of the next patches (I dont know in which way the Zombie spawn System changed in this patch) but a zombie game without zombies is just the next cod or bf with surival aspects. I also find the actual loot System terrible I mean its possible that im the only one but I was not able to get a working gun with ammunition in 11 hours gameplay time. I also dont really understand the actual loot system but I think a upgraded loot System from the mod and origins would be fine. Also I would appreciate if we would get a few more chances to get a "good" weapon without walking to Nwaf or Ballota I dont mean that you can find a Sniper Rifle in every building but if you would be able to find something like a shootgun or something like the good old enfield in normal city's that would be nice. 4. More Weapons Im pretty sure this also would get into the Game but if we should get something were we can save weapons, then we need a few more different weapons for this there are also some threads in the forum I think also "overpowered" weapons like a sniper rifle should get into the game but these things should be very very rare and only in places with many zombies. I also want that weapons are rare, a possible way doing this could be something like the Crashsites from the mod or other military spots. Because if these weapons get into this game you will be that much happy if you kill a person who got one of these weapons that you love the game (a aspect that missed in Epoch) also the "I want the best equipment" effect would be there then. I dont know if you feel same as me that weapons and ammunition are a bit too rare atm. Well for me this are the 4 most important gameplay things that should get into the game sure updateing and fixing the engine and netcode is same important but I think that you are working on this. At the moment the Thread represents the way of "how I wish that Dayz looks" but if you give me feedback on this thread I will try to adjust this thread so its represents what the community wants also I would be very very happy if a staff member from the dayz team would read this maybe. :D Sincerly your friendly Bandit Magerquark.

Meh, you can troll better than that. Not even a freshspawn in the forum will fall for that and start a flamewar with you. Edit: I feel the need to be helpful today, so...next time try something this: "They should have waited for the ArmA 3 engine! Imagine what this would look like! And since they weren't really doing anything for the past year or so and started development, like, in january, they could have used this engine as well! And Breaking Point already has Zombies! And vehicles! And better weapons! And they don't have the millions that Dean had before he stole and ran away with them!" ....see? That would have been a better start. You did...well..I'd say mediocre but that would annoy Johnny, and when he sees that I called that troll attempt "mediocre", he will be mad and start trolling my threads, and I don't need that to happen. So I have to say, it was just a bad attempt. Next time, choose your words...well...just a little more eloquent with little hints that you know something (even if it shines through that you know nothing). That works most of the time. -

I don't see how this game (as the current map is) could support aircraft of any kind. It's not that big to start, regular land vehicles are going to make it so fast to cross the map it's going to be trivial to get from point a to point b.

BP is pretty amazing...but you can see its limits already. And to be fair: vehicles, ballistics, weapons - all taken from arma 3 or based on their models. The sound...well, I'm not so into it, that I could say it absolute fact, but I guess soundfiles were just recorded and changed with existing ones...so, yeah, great that they did it and good for BP, but again, not a big invention. You see, BP can already see its limits regarding what can be done (same as the DayZ mod saw the coming), because it uses again an engine, that wasn't built to support the game in such a way, but to be a military simulator. Somewhere I read this analogy which fits imho real good: Imagine ArmA 2 as a small house with a shower (the Multiplayer) in in the second floor. Somebody started building a bathtub there (DayZ). The inhabitants were absolute happy, but soon demanded more and more, it should be bigger, have more things, made out of marmor etc. etc. But the stairs were too small to bring the things up, so a crane was put on top of the house and a hole was broken into the side of the house to bring it in. So the bathtub was getting bigger and better, but the house wasn't made for that and it became cracks and the water pressure destroyed the pipes, the floor was hanging through and nearly breaking and the neighbours brats were inserting nasty things in the pipes, since they had to be made outside the house... So, since there was no way to make the bathtub any bigger without completly destroying the house, a new house was built. This time with a bigger stair, hardened, waterproof floor, better pipes inside the house etc. etc. But the inhabitants only saw the bathtub, that was brought upstairs and as soon as water was running they demanded to bath, even if they were told, that it was not as comfortable or shiny or with all the funny extras they knew from the old bathtub, hell not even the roof of the new house was finished and sometimes it was raining straight into the bathtub. But since they were begging and begging, they were allowed to bath - and they complained about the missing of the shiny things they were used to, the cold water that sometimes came out, the rain that fell through the roof, and that these idiotic brats still were able to get to the pipes, because some windows were missing. But you could see that now it would be nice, because the bath would be bigger, better without destroying the house. So saying using the Arma 3 engine is saying "Well someone built a new house, very beautiful with a very nice kitchen. I want my bathtub in there."...whereas it has the same things (small staircase. Pipes on the outside. floor that can't handle the weight. etc.) as the old house. To make it short: Yes, it would have been better if they would have gone with the ArmA 3 engine. But no it would not have been better, because until they would have finished reworking the whole engine to fit DayZ, ArmA 4 would have been out and this whole discussion would have started again with different numbers... I'd like to see the much-talked about prison placed in the far west, where there's obviously the foundation for a large development (the huge plot of open land and roads near the westernmost railway station). They could surround the prison with fencing, lots of industrial sheds and buildings, some barracks-type places, guard towers, etc (maybe even some solar powered emergency lighting in the guise of floodlights), and lots of parking areas filled with damage vehicles ripe for parts looting. Have some prison-specific loot (body armor/riot control gear, the rumored stun guns, tear gas, etc). That, along with another couple of cities like the WIP "floating city" west of the NEAF, would do a lot to draw more people in from the coast. Places out west need at least one or two unique features, though; the cut-and-paste is fine for most of the villages around the coast or slightly inland, but it's not worth the run if you're only going to find more log houses or hospital/school buildings. How about a commercial airfield with a small terminal, a couple of hangers, some wrecked/stripped passenger planes, and maybe a larger, lootable plane (with medical supplies, flares, clothing). How about a small, minor league soccer stadium (as many have mentioned), with accessible locker room/shower areas, a vending area, etc? A ruined amusement park (yes, I realize it would take a lot of work modeling it, but they've doubled the team, so it's not beyond the realms of reason) ala Chernobyl? Even some overgrown playgrounds/parks would be a welcome addition (albeit for mostly aesthetic purposes). As for expanding the map, I'd like to see them fill in all of the dead space first (within reason - we need woodlands for hunting and campsites). I'm sure they're not exactly foaming at the mouth to make new models, but, as I posted before, I'd LOVE to see something like a large-ish caravan park (shades of Fallout), an abandoned campground with cabins, etc. As for new expanded areas to the west, how about a proper swamp, or some actual running water/waterfalls in the mountainous regions? Maybe some caves, or large quarries? Obviously, it's a sandbox and the kid in me wants to fill it with EVERYTHING, but I'm trying to think of things that wouldn't be out of place in an Eastern European country.

they borrow some elements from a3, but not others... the amount of complaints regarding ballistics, zoom and weapons so far (gews has pointed out many flaws). Taking a few more bits from a3 would have been a great start. That is one element I would have love to see in SA (ballistics and weapon performance) In terms of vehicles and other stuff, the scripted naure is what they are trying to stay away from in SA. Rightly so for a standalone game. It is pretty amazing all of the features though in BP. remember in BP they did a full custom sound pack, working with a sound guy. amongst many other things from the ground up. I used to follow the devs but not anymore, it was pretty amazing the amount of stuff they were doing from scratch -

....yes but if we only add old fashion weapons it would not make any sense when the story is released. And these high tech sniper rifles you mention... do you know how rare the gun and even the ammo would be to find? Do you know how low the weapon and ammo spawns are going to be set in the future? Extremely low. About the vehicles you mentioned I agree completely with adding them all. APCs, Light Tanks, couple helicopters, but do you know how hard it would be to maintain them? Fuel, windshield glass, engine parts, ammunition, tires, treads, blades, different tools required to install each part. It would be extremely hard to maintain all of that to just get one of these vehicles operational. Firearms and vehicles alike will be extremely rare and if they only stuck to adding these old fashioned weapons (and I do like old fashion, don't get me wrong), then we better remove the military bases and their presence because they would of used these more advanced firearms than what the normal civilian population would of used. Hell, even the police would have some advanced.gear over the civilian population. If it sounds like I am being hostile, I am not. I am sick right now in real life and just very busy. Thank you for your opinion though. -

Can someone explain to me, since I'm not a programmer, how is Dayz SA a ''whole new game'' as it's claimed when it's on an Arma engine and everything looks and feels like playing Arma 3....? Vehicles will be pretty much the same too -

I must admit surely it would be better to fix the current zombies rather than adding to the problem by making more. I question whether zombies clipping through everything will ever be fixed! in my opinion i think it needs to be fixed before any cooking/physics/vehicles/clothing/painting/zombies are added. -

Best I could do; Topic: This is what happens when you try to drive most of the DayZ vehicles. The Ural and the Tractor work just fine, the Tractor doesn't keep your hands on the steering wheel correctly though. New building (this one is already known) And the ship wreck floating: -

I'm no developer, this is what I found in the game files, I would think they'd implement vehicles first, with the UAZ, then some customization options and diferent versions of these. -

Not all of this is going to be implemented in the next patch, it's just the new game files that are there. Majority of these vehicles don't even work properly, I mean, you can drive them, but your character just deforms into something horrible. The tractor and the Ural do work though. -

To check that, I de-activate DayZ Standalone, and files like vehicles, or the items posted above, don't appear in the editor, they just aren't there, when I activate it again, there it is again. When I think about stuff being left there from the Mod, I also think that they said that DayZ Standalone was made from scratch, so I if it was made from scratch, why put that stuff there if they're not going to use it? -

There will always be the people who gain satisfaction by griefing others and ruining their in-game experience. There will always be those who get bored and decide to mess with people for a different experience and fun. Does it make them bad players? No, they are just playing in a way they enjoy and in an environment that encourages that type of gameplay. I think that once there is a lot more to do in the game, there won't be so much pointless killing and those people will move on to more elaborate things such as robbing you of all your belongings and leaving you barely alive with broken legs, stealing vehicles, raiding bases for supplies, and even having legit clan wars. -
The biggest bore factor of this game is spawning on the coast constantly and having no loot to find. Why can't we just have more spawn locations around the map and why can't loot be more plentiful? With the added bonus of there being no vehicles, travel is so boring that I just cannot ever be bothered to play the SA. Been ages since the SA came out, I would have thought these things would be fixed by now.

Should Physical Player Improvements For Surviving Long Periods Of Time Be Implamented?

As a player who has survived 10 weeks on my current character, it would be nice if I got some perks for being alive so long. At the moment, there is no incentive to survive past the first day. I would like it if there was some external incentive to keep my character alive besides my type O- blood type. That being said, any perks for survival should be very subtle and not affect general gameplay heavily. This would be things like being able to repair items better, quickly/proficiently repair vehicles when they are implemented, or learn things from books you find in the world and gain skills from them. -

You and anyone else who gives beans for a post like that is a complete idiot. The game's concept is fine, you have less moments of "fun" and run the risk of getting that pesky "black screen" because this isn't set up like some shitty private hive with 1000+ vehicles, more loot, custom loadouts, etc. If you don't have fun giving people the black screen, this game probably isn't for you, and never has been even in the mod, so why are you here at all? -

These kinds of biting comments are neither helpful nor constructive to the discussion of the game. I swear, the community on the forums is so hostile. No wonder rocket only ever checks the reddit. There is a legitimate problem with the way things spawn and the devs are working on it. They're close to putting loot respawning into the experimental branches which will mostly fix the fact that people can't find loot very often. It's very depressing to spawn in and then die of starvation after going town to town. I also would really enjoy seeing more spawn locations added. These vary often and I trust the devs to find a good balance for them. I personally like the walking, its time to think about things. I'm not in this game to pop in and expect immediate action. I like to get immersed in it. I'm sure the addition of vehicles will help with those of you who do find the walking tiresome.
