  1. Similar to what my group has done. But only because you HAD to walk for the loot to spawn. If we had a car at this state of the SA we would just rush in with the car stop in front of the interesting building for two minutes and then be gone again. Like we would have done it in the mod... For a loner vehicles might be useless but when you start playing with a group its the salt in the soup. Imagine you have a group being around the NWAF, then one player dies because of whatever and he ends up spawning in kamyshovo... This player pretty much ends up meeting up the group the next day or something because he would a have 10km run to do....

    ^ This. Unless you have an inflatable engine lift in your pack, you're not swapping engines anywhere but in a fully equipped workshop inside a fortified structure. Main causes of vehicles left at the roadside will be running out of fuel or flat batteries due to the lights being left on overnight. So a 5L fuel can and a car battery would be your best bet to get discarded vehicles running again.

    In fairness the mod had "engine parts" but I like this system anyway. The more micro managing and difficulty in fixing something the better. Vehicles could be fixed in about 30 mins in the mod an hour should be a quickfix to get it moving, then another few hours even with the vehicle working to get it up to full health. specifics aren't bad either. Motorbike engine could be done in one whole piece. Bicycle tire, Motorcycle tire, car tyre all purpose, car tyre off road.

  7. Too many vehicles leads to the whole hoarder mentality. Im guilty of it myself, fix a car....stick it by my tent....but as soon as the tent overflows and the car holds loot thats it. I wont take it out again, next time i go out is to find another car....and the cycle continues. Also tacticaly when given the choice id always travel on foot for the concealment factor. Cars are just bullet magnates. I think a low car count would be good, with more emphasis on pushbikes....or maybe even ridable animals. As far as helis go i would like to keep them out of SA. As another person said, if you have a heli it takes about 10mins to check all the map boarders for camps. Then fly the grid to check the mainland, another 10 mins. Thats why on the mod i would just gear up on food and drink, hit the map edges, and look for camps or the holy grail....AKA the huey ;)

  9. One of the cool additions to the mod were the heli crashes. I know there have been posts on this but I would like to sound out some more ideas for other random events that people might like to see later in the game's development (but, please, no Bigfoot sitings, just stuff that would fit the vibe of DayZ...) I was thinking of things like coming across a small camp in the woods (with the previous owner hanging fron a tree or zombied-up), or perhaps finding a petrol tanker (partially full and minus the truck to move it) that could be used for refueling your vehicles (obviously way later in development). I don't even think they would necessarily all need to be hugely 'functional' in terms of providing gear but maybe just add points of interest or some more immersion, as well as providing a reason to explore Chernarus a bit more. What do you think?

    Well don't forget that even sickness system is not fully in. They plan to add more infections and stuff, so it will get harder. And also since now we have like 1/100 of content available, you can get bored ultra fast since you can get best gear after looting single barracks. If we had vehicles, tons of weapons (some very rare ofc) and just more of everything, I don't think anybody would get bored quickly. I think we really can not judge the game now, not beyond the bare bones we got. It will be much much more!

    I am almost for anything if it's East block / Russian origin. So just no overabundance of Western stuff & vehicles, these should be rare. Although if story goes, that NATO made intervention into Chernarus, then we should see some Humvees etc but hopefully not that many of them. Can't wait to ride in my trusty UAZ offroad again !!

    That sounds awful imho. Once more content is added the game will become more enjoyable the later your character goes. The standalone will have more to do than the mod in terms of customization of vehicles and weapons alike, meaning you'll have to hunt harder to get exactly what you want. The more prone to illness and hunger/thirst is just punishing for those who don't run around on the shore and deathmatch.

    They just need to implement more stuff to do, not only things like construction and vehicles but also meta-game stuff like territory control and clan warfare, a strategic resource system even, that sort of stuff. Something to strive for, contribute to, organize groups around and to give a sense of something more than an elaborate version of UT2004 happening in the world, to make it more dynamic. It would be different if the world was procedural and/or alterable in some way but its static and completely uninteractive, there essentially as a thematic backdrop to the 'action'. Looting the same items from the same spots from the same buildings from the same locations is bound to get tedious and boring considering gearing up can take only like 20 min for people who want to do it fast. It might be fine for a mod where the expectations are lower, I've put hundreds of hours into, for example, the cRPG mod of Mound and Blade, playing the same couple of maps over and over but if they announced a standalone version of that I would be disappointed if all their aspirations came down to doing the same thing and little else, not expanding the core gameplay at all.

    Been playing this game since release and tbh I'm bored without vehicles, 2 years of development and not even a heli or a car yet? It's not like they've had to rebuild the entire game, inb4 its alpha, it really doesn't matter if its an alpha its just as simple as adding a gun or a player model, I don't see why we have to wait for vehicles.

    United Chenarus Rebellion The United Chenarus Rebellion is a semi-serious tactical clan that plays DayZ Epoch on Chenarus. We are a clan that plays the game to have fun and enjoy the world of Dayz. However, we feel to be successful, there needs to be a serious side to the game. In order for this to work, we have set up a rank system inside two squads, Delta and Echo. Information on ranks and squads to follow. We spend most of our time playing Dayz, but as a clan we play other games like Rust and Arma 2. To form as one unit, we will be using Arma 2 custom missions to test your skills. As a cadet we will test your skills and determine if the UCR is for you. The trial period will last one week after joining. All Corporals and Sergeants will then vote on your promotion. Private – First rank under the UCR. You will be given the code to the main gate. Private First Class- You will be given the codes to the main gate and HQ. Lance Corporal- You will be given the codes to the main gate, HQ, and public safes. Corporal- You will be given the codes to the main gate, HQ, public safes, and private safes. Voting privileges. Sergeant- Leaders of Delta and Echo. Given all permissions. Voting privileges. The following is the squad description and classes. Delta Squad- Delta squad is our first response team. They are tasked with clearing out hostile zones and missions. If you like being a bandit, this is the squad to be in. Depending on who we encounter, we are generally kill on sight. -Rifleman -Heavy Gunner -Sniper -Medic Echo Squad- Echo squad is our support squad. They are tasked with strengthening our base. They generally are base builders, scavengers, and vehicle experts. -Rifleman -Wheelman/Pilot -Sniper Rifleman- Basic unit. Everyone starts out as a rifleman. Uses assault rifles.     Is Dayz finally lag free?

    Lag is a critical issue facing this game and Bohemia overall. Its something I really hope they sort out, but don't have a lot of confidence they will. This has been a problem with Arma II, Iron Front and Arma III and the latter even now with the full game released is still laggy which is cack for what's meant to be a finished product. Please before you open up the bomb bay doors to drop the napalm, I fully understand DayZ is an early Alpha, but one of the most fundamental things they have to get right is providing a smooth gaming experiance with at least 30 fps or preferably 60 fps even if you are in Cherno/elektro. If that means having less content and only 30-45 people on a server, fine I'll take that. All I want is for there to be a version of DayZ that works with a decent FPS, vehicles and working zombies. Anything else beyond that is ok, so long as it doesn't impinge on these basics.

    Struggling

    It depends on what you find most fun. It's definitely more challenging to gear on a busier server, but you've done the gearing up solo bit now. Since there aren't any vehicles yet, no base building, maybe try to band with someone or a group and see how that goes? It will likely be disappointing, but in those rare instances when you find someone with the same approach, or even a couple of people, it's a lot of fun.

    Ditched 3rd Person Servers.

    Vehicles should be a very late stage part of your survival experience... to be honest unless you actually have a reason to travel for the cause of survival (ie absolutely no water and food left within walking distance or leaving the island to fly to somewhere closer to civilisation) I don't really see the point in having vehicles in a survival sim... but that's gonna be quite a contentious point for some people to handle

    I can't stand this any longer.

    I don't want to be counted as someone who complains all the time, I made an account on this forum just to express my feeling about the game. Single post, single opinion. I bet you whatever you want that in another year this game will be almost unchanged. If they somehow pull a miracle I trust them to fix some glitches and add more lootspawn, maybe even vehicles/animals but nothing radical. This game is practicaly untouched from what it was a few years back so yeah, why does everyone assume its going to change just because they sold amazing 400k copies of alpha in a few days? Edit: the devs are pretty smart though. They achieved a great thing, putting a label "dont buy this alpha if you dont want to support the dev" of course there are 500k fanboys that will buy it anyway, counting me, even though its just recycled mod we've had here for bunch fo years. WP devs imo. "cya in 2 years, when we need another $5m so we can actually live our lifes like we always wanted to"

    Let's talk about Perma Death (No Bug talk)

    OP, I kind of understand where you're coming from. It's the same every time you respawn. Go to the same place, get the same loot, get killed, repeat. However, once tents. camps and vehicles are added you can have more of a permanent game on a server. Say you have a humvee that you keep in a particular forest and that you keep a mosin, pistol, some food and the likes in it. If you die, you can go back to the humvee instead of starting all over again. You could change location every week, trade, help people etc. This should add variety in the long run and keep you entertained.

    Lets make it a little easier for the Devs

    This is it. Join a server that has been up for a few hours and there's no decent gear or zombies for miles. Thus, pretty much forced to server hop. I'd prefer zombie/loot spawns to be the focus providing that it's not a long task to implement. Since it was done fairly well in DayZ mod, I can't imagine it'd be that difficult to do. I've put over 50 hours into the game now, and I've had virtually no issues with server stability or crashes. I have had my gear wiped twice, but I'm pretty sure that was due to the DDoS attack on the hive. The current game is quite stable and plays well, so I'd prefer that they focus the effort on providing the content and fixes that are the "low hanging fruit." As in, add/fix the issues that require the least amount of work. More weapons (at least some .22LR entry level pistols/rifles, a 12g shotgun or two, the AK47, 9mm submachine guns, 5.56/7.62 machineguns) would fall into the 'easy/quick' to implement category, especially if the weapon models are already available. There's a huge gap in entry level weapons right now. Either you have a shovel or axe, or you've got the M4 (ideal CQC) or Mosin (ideal sniper). There's no entry or middle ground at all. I'd also prefer some persistence on our favorite servers - tents. ..and although this would likely not fall into 'low-hanging fruit' to get the dynamics and work to fix them up - vehicles. After having them in the mod, running everywhere is ridiculously painful. Combat logging should be an easy fix.. just require a ~30 second "wait time" before the player physically leaves the server, even if they Alt-F4 out of the client. The user can't log into another server for at least a couple minutes after a combat log so that the hive has proper resolution of their gear in the event of a death after logging. This wait time cannot be canceled so a player can't start a combat log then come back in an effort to bait the attacking player. An announcement to nearby players that a combat logging is taking place should also be made so they can move in for the kill.

    They will fix it, it's just model clipping, they are focusing on the most important things to do with servers and optimization first, before fixing and adding loot, it's already un-optimized as it is without barely any zombies and 40 players on one server, the mod could hold around 70 or something with a lot of loot, vehicles and more zombies. It will come, it hasn't even been a month since it came out yet...

    Okay so was happily playing DayZ with my squad-mate Vaughn, When suddenly we go into the Fire-station at north-west airfield, We find various things, pistol mags, tactical vests you know the usual but then out of no where this game decides to go all Early Access mode on my ass and randomly kill me when I'm on the 3 floor of the firestation, no shots or anything, no one shot me my game just just black screen'd and came up with "you are dead" , I know the game is in Alpha and it is to be expected but with all this talk of vehicles, hunting and base building maybe they should work on fixing the standard thing like NOT RANDOMLY DYING, Before they go giving all the little 12 year olds helicopters to crash all over fucking Russia. Rage over. Yours faithfully, A pissed off fat guy.
