    I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

I hope they don't put any vehicles in the game...bicycles maybe but nothing else. With any vehicle going between point A to point B is meaningless. It's just a quick fix for those that don't want to waste time having to survive from point A to point B by running. I hear people bitchin' about how small the map is and at the same time asking when the vehicles will be put in. That's rather an oxymoron statement. Small and need vehicles. They're bitchin' about the size of the map so the map gets larger so vehicles can be put into the game. Ask yourself.....why do you want the vehicles in the game? Be honest with yourself.. This will turn into a clan base game that if there's an issue clan members can be at a spot within' a couple of minutes instead of taking 30 minutes to run to the location. OR a group of players will get into a car and cruise around cutting new spawns down just for the kicks. My vote is no to any gas powered vehicles whether on the ground or in the air, we have enough silly crap going on in the game already.
  2. I hope they don't bring vehicles into this game. It's just a quick fix "drug" for those who want to do stupid crap in a game with vehicles but then after the damage is done to the rest of the players (those having to put up with the nonsense) it'll only turn this game into another trash game. If they want vehicles so bad...why aren't they still playing Mod and just stick with it? Nope......not good enough, they want to come over to an alpha game and demand vehicles be put in it so they can play it for a few months and get bored with it and then move on again.

    Shipping Crates!

From what I've seen vehicles tend to be a tad volatile when exposed to bullets. But for those Dayz survivors enjoying their golden years, I think the mobile home/shipping container concept provides a wonderful opportunity to hit the open roads and see all the sights Chernaurus has to offer before spiralling into the depths of dementia and diapers.

    Where the hell are everyone?

Player movement is limited at the moment because of the lack of features. Rest assured OP, when they introduce vehicles and base-building etc, there will be a hell of a change in the way people use the map.

Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**

gotta agree. i've played dayz for 2 weeks and already lost interest (never played the mod or any other zombie shooter). right now, it's just "gear up and go to deathmatch", kinda boring but sorry that's how it is. watching vids about the mod actually makes me sad, there are more guns, vehicles, gear, base building, etc. just much more stuff to do. meanwhile a patch for standalone takes +2 weeks to add cooking....whopdeedoo! if this wasn't reality, people could consider this to be a joke really honestly, if standalone hasn't at least all the stuff the mod offers in half a year, i don't have much hope anymore. don't be surprised when you see the headline "hall sold dayz to bigger studio xyz, leaves bohemia as of now" soon. with the slow and faulty progress on things, i'd say standalone has started to grow into something a little indie studio around dean can't properly handle anymore that's only my view on things. of course i'll be attacked by forumers in a second with "omg it's alpha!" "you shouldn't have bought it then" and "gtfo spoilt brag omg"

  7. I preferred Vanilla mod, but a lot of my buddies started playing Origins / Epoch so I joined them. Could barely find a Vanilla server towards the end of the mod when SA hit. Now they are all expecting SA to feature all the stuff from the mods, and they act like it isn't Dayz without safes full of weapons, castles, and infinite vehicles. Its kind of sad. I hope mods don't take over.
  8. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/177017-pending-changelog-experimental-branch-042116002/page-104#entry1855885 They need physics first to make vehicles work at all. If it's not worth playing for you at the moment, then I understand. I have several friends who feel that way. What do they do? They don't play. I suggest you follow suit. Good luck. The group working on the hunting is not there, so this is filmed before they were hired. Also it's possible that other people work from other places than that office. An approximation of the current work force would be between 40 and 50 people. I actually thought it would be more shit than it is. Based on videos I'd seen on youtube and word of mouth from friends. No, the excuse for their so called short comings is that making a game from scratch is pretty difficult, and shit happens. Bugs show up, and have to be dealt with. Your complaints are still not constructive. And never will be. It's in their nature. I can totally understand why the devs choose to not wade through the sea of excrements that is this forum. If people were a little more interested in understanding the game development process, and behaved in a more mature way about it they probably would still show up here from time to time. But the current state of this forum, and the behavior of the members give the devs all the reasons to not come here. This place is a fucking mess, and people are behaving very immaturely, spewing their hate to the left and right. When I need information on the internet I search for it until I find it. It's almost never where I want it to be, and usually not all collected for my pleasure in one convenient place.

    How to Handle Large Objects

An idea to add more realism but also more flexibility to inventory storage and movement. Folks already wondering about the engine block fits in a backpack problem in regard to vehicles/parts in SA. Similar to the concept that every item is defined by a required number of slots to store, every object also might be defined by the minimum and maximum number of players that can simultaneously hold in hand. I could foresee, for example, certain car parts that could be carried by one individual with both hands with some difficulty but also carried by two individuals much more easily. So sharing the work means the player walks faster, expends less energy and has potentially a free hand for a pistol. Certain items like an engine block might require a minimum of 6 hands (3 players all lifting) to carry said object. All this is countered by wheeled carts, wheelbarrows, kid wagons like radio flyer, etc. How bout human and horse powered wheeled carts. These are options for lone players who need some way to transport large items that won't fit in a backpack or in some cases are simply too heavy to carry. Further example on this idea. Dean showed in a vid the beginnings of storage with refrigerator. Well what if you desired to relocate that fridge from let's say one house to another one in town? Well you'd have to drag that thing over there. You couldn't put that in your backpack. So in this case a large refrigerator might require a minimum of four hands and a max of eight. Now players have almost irl options for transport. Two players could carry using all their hands. They might walk slowly. Or four players could carry with only hand so all four can remained armed in free hand. They might walk almost full speed. Another combo is four players carrying with all their hands. A refrigerator being carried in this last way would allow players to walk at full speed. I think it would be neat if somehow the left and right hand were separated, from a functionality standpoint, so that multiple players can carry a large item while having a free hand. The idea came to me from an image I had of two survivors carrying, one on each side, an Igloo brand cooler full of meat and soda while brandishing pistols in their free hands. I also thought this could work well if craftable stretcher/gurneys get done. Stretcher=3 shirts, duct tape, sewing kit and wood? But then we come back to the question of how exactly do players carry the stretcher. Once again, this is a minimum of four hands and a max of four hands. However 2, 3 and 4 people can carry a stretcher. 2 people using all their hands. 3 people where one player uses both hands and two players use one hand. And finally four players all using one hand so that pistol, etc. can be equipped in free hand.

Is anyone tired of this game because of KOS?

I think the KoS mentality is something needed in the game. Like it was said before it adds to the tension and realism of the game. I think that once some more features are added you will see a little less of it, or just less people as they will be out hunting for meat. As you stated though with the map size and predetermined loot spawns it's difficult to remove KoS. Sadly vehicles will just make it easier to move around quicker killing more people. While it's quite annoying to be killed by someone who KoS it's a needed part of the game!
  11. No please no. I remember 2 years ago when you spawned just with your pants on the coast. Now when I spawned in DayZ mod I could choose where to spawn, and I even spawned with shotgun and silence pistol so WTF is this? Why doesn´t it spawn us directly to the base, where the server give us AS50, tents with full loot and 3-4 vehicles? It is radiculous. Modders are destroying this game. It was good as it was made.
  12. Hey, We have everything, I mean everything you have listed. We have active admins, we are nice and always help you, whether that be, adding new equipment or helping you with your building. Our admins come from Many different countries (all speak English but each know at least one other language) This means your clan will have 24/7 Administration and Help. We have Tonnes of vehicles available, because we have started a new server just recently, means also great FPS. Griefing is allowed, but being abusive with griefing will be dealt with and not ignored, The clan name is XXX and we value ALL players and gameplay. We are about having fun and putting in a few fun competitions to keep fighters happy. the IP is 23.235.236.15:2301 If you join the server, ask for funbilla, He will help you out in any way possible. its truly amazing.
  13. Showing us a clear structured"Road Map" is really needed me thinks :) . As it seems a lot of stuff ( new items, animations, map improvments, zombies etc) will be developed and improved until the end of the alpha or even beta, having no concrete time frame. But game mechanics like camping, cooking, hunting, deseases and wound system, vehicles, persistent items, basebuilding etc will have ( or should have) a clear road map I guess and it would be nice to know what to expect when and also would stop a lot of useless whining on the forums. PS: talking about this nagging for vehicles which I see all the time...I for example don't care about vehicles and tons of new weapons but really would love to see the promised desease/infectiion/wounds (medic) system and other survival aspects ( hypothermia for example) being implemented as soon as possible ...also as I said before ( again and again) . I can not see any sense in implementing performance killing stuff like vehicles and basebuilding etc as long as we do not have proper numbers of functioning zeds roaming the map... but that's just me :)

Will DayZ SA die out to Mods just like the Mod did?

My first post on here I usually don't do the forum thing. But I know the biggest reason me and a big group of my friends stopped playing the mod was mainly how many hackers/script kiddies we had to ban constantly when we had our server public. We would get a couple a day unlocking vehicles on the epoch mod and hacking the admin features, also running infinite ammo that is the worst. Eventually had to make it private and that just kind of ruined the fun of the game for us. No real challenge at that point. Took it down after a couple of months. It just isn't worth playing if they can't keep their numbers down. Hopefully VAC will be able to help with this. But I have seen a lot of funny business posted and seen some weird stuff on standard in SA, not as much in hardcore probably due to the lower server/ player count in those. Hope they get around to fixing the desync and wall exploiting soon. Could massively help the experience of playing the game even in alpha.
  15. we all know its and alpha, if u are one of those stereotrypical ppl that cant find out that in all reality, rocket is taking 3 years to put in core elements in a 80% incomplete game. its kind of embarrassing to be waiting that long. even more so If u have been playing this engine based game since flashpoint, its ashame to see someone like rocket take lead and pre announce his departure to a highly anticipated game with no intentions on living up to it, it seems like he will never put vehicles in cause he works too slow. after this "year" goes by, this game will improve finally but a bit too late. after all he "clearly" stated its an "alpha work in progress." aka take your money as an investment. so he basicly banked on us to lend it away in a year to get all initial sales. gg rocket, pass it over to bohemia please. "I intend this on freedom of speech" I will LULZ if I get banned my own opinion. in all reality.
  16. VEHICLES please, I did not want to wait 3 years for vehicles or even tents. please make it worth me playing asap.

    question about the dayz servers

There are no vehicles so no.

    Shooting from Vechicles with guns

+1, but suggested a billion times before. This is a necessity for vehicles. Always bugged me in the mod, being completely defenceless on the back of an ATV, inside a car, bed of a ural (And hopefully pickups) while a heli let down streams of M240 fire, or a HMMV rammed me until my wheels popped. But the driver shouldn't be able to shoot unless the vehicle isn't moving. We should also be able to tosd Explosives out... For any Fwiends who are following.
  19. That's not really fair, though, is it? I mean, I played Breaking Point when it came out for ARMA III and I still play it on occasion today (actually I logged a few hours this evening seeing as how experimental is down). I enjoy it for what it is, but, at the end of the day, it's really just a less buggy version of the DAYZ mod with a bigger focus on PVP. There have been vehicles in BP since it was released because they're simply using the ARMA III vehicles (albeit rusted out versions of them), and the only new things they've brought to the table are the melee weapons (originally they were using the Arma II/DAYZ mod melee weapons but BI put the kibosh on that) and a sort of clumsy looting mechanic that has you rummaging through boxes/garbage bins/suitcases which saved their modeling guys the hassle of having to create 3D models of the loot items to replace the ones BI said they couldn't use. If you look at the things they've actually made, you'll see they're not very polished (the textures on the melee weapons, clothing, etc aren't very easy on the eyes), and their zombies, which walk through walls just as they do in SA although no one seems to ever mention that - are hilariously ineffective. I played on the Thirsk map today, where dozens of zombies wander around the central town, and I literally jogged around them with as much trepidation as I would running around a bunch of pylons. So, yes, they've made custom maps, have vehicles, campfires and hunting (using the same mechanic as the mod), and persistent (yet still very buggy) storage, but it's all achieved using BI assets and ideas and altered code taken from DAYZ. The core mechanics of the game work as well as they do because the majority of it was already there in the first place. I have nothing but respect for the mod team behind BP as I think they've done well with limited resources, but you simply can't compare what they've done to SA as they're essentially adding a few new strokes to an already finished painting. SA is building from the ground up. BP will never have the depth SA aspires to. Sure, it will be more refined (after all, it's in alpha as well), but it will only go as far as the engine will allow whereas the SA team are incorporating middle engines for things like physics, employing a team of devs whose specialty is actual hunting games to make the hunting aspects of SA as immersive and realistic as possible, incorporating improvised weapons, and a cooking mechanic that goes well beyond lighting a fire and clicking on a slab of raw meat in your inventory. And, while it's currently all the rage to make light of the multitude of clothing options in game (as if their very existence is what's holding up development despite the fact that they're being made by a small group of modelers who have nothing to do with the core mechanics of the game), this allows us to customize our characters so they aren't all just Black Shirt/Black Cap/Khaki heroes from BP or naked bald clones from Rust. SA will allow us to do so much, but a game of this magnitude takes time. We bought into the ground floor of what equates to a skyscraper.

Will DayZ SA die out to Mods just like the Mod did?

i Hope they make it to where there is a limited spawn on vehicles in mods that will be around 100, and helis? less than 4 with rare ass parts
  21. AryanBoogeyman

Is there a current list of loot spawn locations?

This is the kind of third party easy mode BS that began the death spiral of the mod. I hope to God that the finished product makes loot locations and vehicles spawns completely, unalterably random to at least slow down the horrible loss of immersion which results from these websites and guides. The worst thing I did as a new player was to access these guides instead of just learning the map myself.
  22. Well UAS was hopefully looking to find a great Epoch server with the following: 5-30 Players on Usually. Great FPS. Hosted Around North America. Great Admins and Mods willing to help at any time. Admins active on the server. Teamspeak if possible. Griefing/Raiding is Allowed. Must have scripts like, SelfBloodbag, Tow/Lift, Ai missions Ikea truck MV-22 Etc, and many more. 300+ Vehicles and As much heli's. If possible traders that sell building supplies Walls, Locked doors. Also one of the things we've noticed is Admins on many servers target our base because it's a clan and we raid other bases. So if the Admins could supply us with building supplies just to get started that would be great. If possible More Barracks and if the server needs an Admin that's great. Just give us the IP and I will check it hopefully out tonight. Join UAS for the DayZ Epoch mod at TS - 176.31.103.99 16+. UAS Consists of about 20 Members on Daily playing DayZ Epoch.

Will DayZ SA die out to Mods just like the Mod did?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that mods won't be allowed until the game is well past Alpha/Beta and into the 'release' version so the core features can be fleshed out. DayZ mod proved that this community is pretty self destructive, with server providers ruining the experience with Pay2win donation perks, custom loadouts, hundreds of vehicles and other things that just dumbed down the experience. None of the sub-mods really improved upon DayZ mod, they just added skins, weapons and maps but failed to address or improve on the core gameplay or survival aspect. Players just need to learn some damn patience let the devs flesh out the bones of DayZ SA.
