    Actually they said earlier that it should be done by now, then they changed their minds and said quarter 3,,, which we Are in now... Jan - march = Quarter 1, April-June=Q2, so we're meant to be in 3 now. A lot of the things that were on the roadmap have been delayed or not re-announced.,, so we dont have any dates to go on which sucks. Also , there will be servers with different options , like in the mod. Everyone getting their selfs worked up but there will be servers with more than a few vehicles., and private hives etc with hopefully epoch, and other varieties just like in the mod. Personally i haven;t experienced been shot while jsut driving a car from A to b very often, only on the Arma 3 breaking point mod which is non-stop PVP... Looking forward to playing on an empty server/PVE Focused server, which wont have people shooting ur car every moment. building a base without pricks shooting me all the time. So have to say chill out, people trying to force everyone to play their way...there will be options for the more casual crowd etc. Also I agree with the OP, I feel the developers should just add the Arma 2 OA placeholder models in that work- eg. the hatchback, motorbike, pushbike. Add them in with the current A2 mechanics, and as and when your 'new fancy mechanics' are ever finished, patch them over. this will give the current alpha something to do, while we wait the next 3-6 months for an update/ announcement of update ETA. modders have already done this, so its not like its a massive work effort that some people make out. Its probably just enable the vehicle u want and then turn it off when you patch it.

    I believe you're right but that's also coming, (building at least) and honestly what's needed, things like construction, trading safe zones persistent storage, these are all legitimate survival concepts. Especially once loot spawn is fixed and server restarts stop. In a real post apocalypse you'd first scavenge gear, the (just like a real survival situation) build a base camp. Shelter, storage, fire/cook pit. You'd actively attempt to build a group with fellow survivors. Creating these scenarios is what will expand this game. Rather than the end game being kill everyone it will be survival, a four-six person group would break down tasks (gear scavenging, hunting, etc) The problem I have with what I've seen of epoch is a currency system. Having a safe city where player cannot attack but can trade is going to become a must especially when they introduce vehicles and such. But that also warrants that bandits will prey on it as well. Over all adding to the immersion and gameplay

    Which I think is sad... Same with helicopters too I'm sure. If they make the parts too hard to find before you die then what's the point in even having them in game? So maybe 2 out of 20,000 can enjoy them for 10 min. Again why bother. I'm not sure why all these vehicles don't work anymore? Since where I live there's at least two in every driveway I'm sure I could find one that runs. Hey maybe it was a emp that fried everything and also made people go crazy. I dunno See one car a month!!! So devs please don't waste time on something most of us will never see or be able to use. Make different furniture to make the houses look different at least I'll get to enjoy that.

    Spray Paint UV paint application

    To add a new level of customization, I propose that Spray Paint is executed in the engine as UV Painting. For those who don't know what this is, is it's 3D Modeling term/function that it allows the engine to paint objects without the necessity of Texture Files, the draw back is that the paint will not look like real paint, but just straight up color. Unless times have changed with this function, then it means that it's not labor intensive on the engine, requires less Custom textures and will allow for FULL custom Painting. The way I imagine it is that Player can Paint in real-time on any object, just by holding the can in their hand, pressing the Shoot-Button on the mouse, and moving their Hud to create their own custom lines, patterns, etc. You could create your own camo on any kind of clothing, customize your Ballistic Helmets and tac-vests, Camo your Weapons, Vehicles, Backpacks, etc.

    In my opinion, it used to be a lot worse. I couldn't even so much as mention player construction in late 2012 without getting a complete earful from people about how it'd ruin the game somehow. And even as recent as four-six months ago, I couldn't mention any piece of equipment made outside of mother Russia without being accused of trying to put a cheeseburger in the mouths of every DayZ enthusiast. Most of the real trolls have either been banned, or moved to Reddit. The moderators on this forum are pretty on-point with that type of thing. Plus, I've learned to not get too involved with the haggard topics (i.e. gamma exploit, helicopters, vehicles in-general, TPV vs. FPV, hardcore vs. regular, etc.). What I find annoying, and this is just a general comment on people not specific to this forum, is the extent to which illogical and unsupported arguments gain traction. Likewise, I agree with Cap'n, there's a lot of people here who want it their way and no way else. If it's not their way, the developers are letting them down on a personal level or are insinuated to be dishonest. This would be comical, if the developers didn't get unreasonably indicted for things that they never said, or intended to do in the first place. And even if they did, they've always provided solid reasoning for why they've changed their minds. Which is not to say that we as players and members of this community cannot be critical of the developers. I am frequently critical of the developers. But it can be done in the form of a reasoned argument, rather than pure vitriol. My favorite thing though is when things don't "feel" right, with no explanation as to why. That one always tickles me in ways. My second favorite thing, is when people pretend to speak for a majority, the "community," or a persecuted minority. Speak for yourself, it's all you can really do. However, 99% sure this thread will get locked sooner or later. As all the etiquette guidance you need is outlined on the list of forum rules.

    Well, if you dont like running around, this might not be a game for you. Even with vehicles, 90% of all players will still be forced to run around, as we wont have 100's of vehicles per server, and some of the parts needed will, most likely, become globally controlled, meaning only a specific amount of parts will be in the game, and if someone else found it, you will have to steal it from them. Only the developers knows when we will get vehicles, but they have stated it wont be anytime soon and it will be a pain in the arse to maintain it and keep it running. So dont expect to find a car easily, let alone drive one and maintain it.

    Yes, authentic is definitely what we want in a videogame. But I also think that the 15 ish kilometers that lie between berezino and lopatino should take more than an hour to cross on foot. That would be a step toward both realism and authenticity. Needing to decide what is essential for your journey to avoid weighing yourself down an tiring quickly would also add to authenticity. You're too short sighted and heated to see beyond your fear of needing to spend even more time between firefights and military base-looting sessions. Some of us want to adventure across chernarus spending days and weeks on characters that struggle to get from town to town; not sprinting from base to base as quick as you can to get the best gear for your next pitched firefight. I can't imagine why else you would be so vehement about maintaining our currently very unrealistic speed and movement. Newsflash- vehicles were incredibly rare in the vanilla dayz mod. Unless you plan on looting up on low pop servers with a car and then hopping onto high populated ones (easy mode), vehicles will not be involved in even 50% of your traveling around the map, and will be inconsequential. Go watch some older dayz mod footage.

    Yes. I know it's unrealistic as fuck, and I like it. If they go about lowering the speed to a more realistic 10ish KM then I'm fucking off until vehicles come in. I am NOT going to spend 12 hours running from Berezino to Balota to NWAF. It's just not going to happen. I was exaggerating for the sake of making my point. I say this every time one of you "realism hurr" people crop up. Realism is just not fun. Authenticity is. Realism can go suck a phallic object. If you want realism. Make a petition so that when you die in the game you get perma banned by Battle Eye because it's realistic not to respawn after death. Or hey, why not make everyone inaccurate with guns? It's not like everyone in buttfuck-nowhere Russia own guns and shoot them regularly. That's realistic right?

    Then you are in for a treat , once realistic movement speed & stamina gets implemented. Btw you could not endlessly super sprint in DayZ mod and majority of people did not whine about it. Yes, mod had vehicles, but no, you would not find them on every corner plus mostly you needed to repair and refuel them first. Vehicles were ofc noisy so prepare to get ambushed quite often, when driving one. So all in all, get ready to jog everywhere or uninstall. Ahhaha would pay to see your face, once there is no endless turbo sprint :-D. It is a phrase, but DayZ might not be for you buddy. Btw nope, it did not take 4 hours to get to Elektro from Berezino, not even in mod.
  22. I'm one of the people that enjoys SA for exactly what it is now, and that it is very different from the mod. The mod cannot possibly capture the terrifying feeling of loneliness in an unforgiving environment that SA does. There is nothing equal in all of gaming, at least that I have come across. I've never had a game make me feel like I shouldn't be playing because my heart physically might not be strong enough. Have I lost faith in DayZ? If there were no more updates, I would be perfectly content with exactly what Dayz SA is right now, with no hopes for any changes in the future. I love what it is now. I'm glad there are going to be vehicles and base building and all of the things that go along with that, but there is a huge part of me that does NOT want that. That part of me wants it to stay this way forever, with all of the bugs and glitches and lack of content. The simplicity and difficulty are what drives every feeling and emotion that I get from SA. I play alone because I have no friends. I am afraid when I play SA. When I play the mod it's just Wasteland with zombies to me. It could not ever live up to everything I have felt in the four months that I have been playing this game. I will embrace change, but in no way will I ever forget what this game is and what feelings it has inspired in me. I laugh when I see threads like this and hope that the negative users and their cancerous attitudes uninstall and quit for a long time to come, or permanently for all I care. In my estimation and observation, for every user that is dissatisfied with what this game is and is becoming, there are 10 more users who enjoy this game for what it is and are enjoying most every phase of the development process. That includes the patches that introduce new bugs or experimental features that will be tweaked/improved/deleted before it reaches beta. Please kindly uninstall, the user base will not miss you.

    I think people imagine the world being empty of zombies as it is now when they get scared discussing stamina and weight systems. The reality is that it will be work to maintain the supplies necessary to make a journey across te map. It won't be a boring 2 hour walk across the map at a slower speed than now. Hopefully we'll be forced to hit all of those small towns and villages along the way to the western military bases if we want to survive. Or, alternatively, hunt and forage through the woods if we don't have the equipment/ health to survive the zombies. Hopefully the tediousness and/or difficulty involved in traversing the map will weed out all of the people who are only willing to play this game if they have human targets every 5 minutes. I envision hundreds of bodies along the east coast and the forums exploding about zombies and loot tables being broken and "annoying". Within 3 years, the community will be mainly comprised of diehard veterans who are what dean calls the "core community", and new players that have yet to discover if they are the right kind of people for this kind of anti-game. This may seem counter-intuitive, but this game won't truly actualize dean's hopes until people start putting it away or uninstalling it in droves. TLDR; features that make this game harder and less like other solely FPS games are what dayz needs to thrive. To achieve excellence, this game will need to become unattractively difficult to the masses. In summation, the devs should seriously consider introducing weight and stamina before they introduce vehicles if only to filter out those less dedicated.

    pretty much. I am thinking some of these new players think the vehicles will be abundant like wasteland and everyone will suddenly be driving everywhere. Reality is you will probably see one car or vehicle about once a month if you are lucky.

    People think that the addition of vehicles will offset a stamina system. News flash: you won't have a vehicle for the majority of the time you're playing, so get used to walking.
