It's still all going to change. The Devs reportedly read these things and will see the camera needs to be adjusted. Bringing the third person camera in tighter solves this entire problem the only thing you remotely need it as high as it is right now is vehicles -

Trader Glitch banning people, I can't unban them

My server has been having a problem since steam update. It goes as follows Someone buys a vehicle from trader, the vehicle takes a minute or 2 to actually spawn due to lag. The vehicle finally spawns and gives them the "get in vehicle" option and doesn't show to be locked. They get in the vehicle, get white screen then black screen and banned. I'm guessing that the server thinks these people are stealing locked vehicles. No big deal right? a simple F2, tempban log and double click their name to remove the temp ban. Still banned -- restart their game, restart the server - still banned Check bans list in server files and they aren't there. They can join other servers just not mine. Any clue how to fix this? Thx -

I was just watching Marimio's latest youtube upload (for those who don't know of him he's a battlefield youtuber.) And he had a brilliant idea about what he thinks will make a dayz a better game and stop people Killing on sight.. When you spawn in as a fresh character after you die or first play the game you should have a proffesion like what you did before the zombie apocalypse. For example: Doctor can help heal people and fix broken legs etc. Mechanic can help fix vehicles etc. Soldier better with firearms and can set up land mines etc. Chef can prepare badlt damaged food etc. Hunter good at hunting and tracking etc. These are just a few ideas that Martimio started and I've elaborated on so every time you die and respawn you get a random proffesion and people will be more inclined to team with people if they need a certain person in their group rather than just killing them. Now I know what your all thinking everyone is just going to kill themselves until they get the soldier proffesion which would obviously just ruin the game again so there would need to be a way to counter this. Thoughts?

I play a normal server and don't use 3pp for any combat situation or in any area I might encounter a player. Also battlefield utilizes 3rd person in vehicles on "core" servers. At least one edition of call of duty had a 3rd person game mode. So the truth of the matter really is this from a programming perspective. Most other games do not render a player model for the player. I assume when you said counter strike you meant Source or GO in which case I don't know. 1.6 on the other hand rendered hands/arms and a gun on your screen allowing more space/processing for the other character models on screen. Also they are fully marketed as first person games. Quiet a few other first person shooters have incorporated third person cameras for certain situations rainbow 6 Vegas did so when taking cover it snapped to first person when you did anything but blind fire. Back to your point though Battlefield disables third person vehicle Cameras for Hardcore servers. Currently the only thing about hardcore servers on SA is the fact third person is disabled. See my previous post about "hardcore" modes in most other games. Is there a slight tactical advantage to it? Yes, do I use lean instead of 3pp yes. The third person camera is clunky at the moment. The current end game isn't survival either, it's gear up, hit up a high traffic area kill or be killed, wash rinse repeat as necessary. As the focus shifts to survival over kill everything play styles will shift with it. When the cameras are tweaked play styles will change. When hardcore servers are a bit more "hardcore" more people will play until then it's simply a matter of the ability to have 3rd person or not -
1. Nothing is hard to find in Chernerus if the Devs say it's not because it's a fictional country not confined by any real world problems the Devs don't want it to be2. Yes, yes they are but again Dev=God here, also we have no evidence that Zeds go after livestock infact the presence of livestock in Chernerus implies they don't (have yet to see a Zed chasing a cow across the landscape) 3. No more than a car, the difference is you can't lock a horse, they should be implemented as improvised vehicles having craftable saddle bags is fine just don't become anymore attached to that gear than you do the gear in your back pack 4. Forgive me for simplifying but it's an oversized deer as far as animation and coding go. The only difference is adding a seat/attachable gear (which is fairly simple) Now to the OP and everyone else let me clarify my point on improvised vehicle. Horses should be wild, no domestic horses should be found, this negates the difficulties you have with domestic horses such as being spooked by a flock of birds. We don't need saddles and all that mumbo jumbo (although I wouldn't be butthurt if it got added) they could add a improvised saddle bag option. But as far as they are concerned it's a wild animal find one, catch it, mount it. Leave it alone for a couple minuets and it wanders about where it pleases. Another player comes by while you're looting a house and they can swipe it. No different than I imagine a bicycle will be. We can (I) assume that cars will need keys which means if I exit the car I can lock it. You'll have to kill me to get the key to steal my car. Horses don't have doors and therefore can't be locked. Adding a bunch of crap you need to do to "train" a horse almost in my opinion downgrades them to big running meals. Having them automatically eat and drink and roam if not mounted should be the norm. And the only real issue I see is that it's only yours as long as you're on it. This will spawn the "you meanie head you stole my horse" complaints. I also fear that it will take up a livestock spawn (ie: each horse is one less cow/boar/deer that could spawn.) and limit hunting options. I like the idea over all I just see it being less useful than a bicycle other than the fact you an eat it

I think that they should be able to be destroyed by other players who have the proper tools, but this isn't a bad idea at all. Once vehicles are added, imagine approaching a town only to find that it's been taken over by bandits andthe roads have been roadblocked, forcing you to stop or try to drive around on the grass.

We run DZAI on my server on highest difficulty. Have an Ai base with 60 AI and treasure vehicles for those that can get in. But its no joke. They coded to be the best of the best and use top notch tactics, call in reinforcement and air support if the fight is quickly going down hill for them. Frankly I think having all the equipment you want is a bit of a downer. If I'm not looking for some matches or another clip or whatever I get this "now what?" feeling. Anyhow, gonna be different when there are vehicles and such to focus on, but for now I need someone to shoot me in the face every once in a while to keep me entertained.

The flashlight is pretty useful if you play on night servers, which many people don't do, but I still think spawning in with just the flashlight is just perfect. Back in the day when I played the mod (and its sub-mods like Namalsk, Breaking Point, Epoch...) many servers were [CUSTOM STARTING LOADOUT] [HIGH LOOT SERVER] [MAX VEHICLES] and so on, which I personally considered game ruining since half the fun in DayZ is taken away if you spawn in with the most basic equipment (Food, compass, map, etc.) Hell, technically you already spawn in with a map if you use online loot maps, which should be more than enough for you to find your way around. Ofcourse if you use loot maps, then there is really no point in getting the in-game map. Compasses can spawn pretty much everywhere, but so far I've had most luck with the brown wooden barns. They might have time acceleration on, I think that was implemented sometime ago. I haven't experienced time misrepresentation on any of the servers that I've played on. Don't know, interesting idea though. Also how do you know that is blowing from west to east? I know that in the mod clouds always moved from west to east so it was a bit of metagamey way to find directions, but it worked most of the time. Loot doesn't respawn at the time so you can't use the old DayZ mod loot farming method where you would empty all the loot piles into a one separate pile, run +200 m from the building, waited for ~10 minutes and then came back for fresh loot. Or do you mean you actually server hopped from server to server in hopes of finding fresh/better loot? I think this might be a bug, and if it is, the server should warn (with a rather small red text) you that your character is not being loaded from the hive and you should abort your connecting if you don't wish to override your old character. In the 0.45 version they had a bug where your new character would not be saved if you disconnected right after your previous death. Ofcourse if you disconnect in bad place (fire station, barrack and so on) you might be killed by other players and/or zombies because your character doesn't disappears immidietly after you disconnect. Also disconnecting while unconscious causes your character to be reset. Anyway, I've had no problem with the character saving in this build and I've been playing on fragnet servers.

In the new 1.8.1 update, zombies now can hit you from a longer range, making them more lethal. Another feature increasing difficulty is water sources may give you infection, so you must always boil your water. Guns are even more rare, the only feature that makes the game easier is zombie sight radius has been reduced and you can salvage parts from vehicles.

I think both airfields could be dramatically improved if the runways were littered with destroyed vehicles, aircraft, and debris. Would provide some cover for players attempting to move in for loot, and add more variety to firefights that occur there. So much of the airfield is wasted with wide-open flat space

I agree, finding them gainful employment should be the priority.......they just mope around all day waiting for handouts..... damn infected zombie bums............We SHOULD get them started on banging out license plates for all the vehicles coming down the pipe

No that is stupid also. I live in a suburb of about 200,000 population, and we have tons, and I mean tons military bases, like a good 3 or 4 huge ones. Balota needs to be kept. If you put only military gear at NW then you direct everyone to that location, and it will just become one big firefight. Remember the days of spawning in Balota? remember how there used to be like 8 or 10 guys their at once all fighting? Well you can double that if NW is the only good military base. And what you are completely forgetting is that this is a Zombie Apocalypse *Gasp.* And the whole story revolves around a big military intervention in Chernaurus. Open your eyes, there a tanks and military vehicles everywhere! And Balota is never being taken out as it is a direct tie to the Green Mountain conspiracy. They leave trails of military effort from Balota all the way to NW, there is a reason there are military bases on that side of the map. These tent cities were set up by the military for a strong-point to hold up against Zed. Say what you want, but the devs aren't going to change the whole story just because a few people want nothing but a pistol and Mosin the whole time. -
Hi, im simply wondering when vehicles will be released for Dayz Standalone. I know they aren't expected until late 2014, but do we have a more specific time yet? Vehicles should have been a big priority earlier on, as nobody likes wasting hours just to get from place to place. Any info will be appreciated, serious answers only please. Thanks!

The majority of Vanilla is unofficial not connected to the hive. So by your standards all of the mod is XXX+ vehicles, not just Epoch. Notice that word, "majority". 674 results for DayZ Vanilla in DayZCommander. Filter out the unofficial and I am left with 128. That means there are 546 unofficial which have likely changed the base rules of Vanilla in some manner. What you should probably say is that "this isn't a privately hosted server where the owner can choose to make it easier on you." and just leave Epoch out of it. There are plenty of Vanilla servers with the same sins as Epoch servers.It's not the game mod that adds them in, it's the private owners.
