    I think vehicles are definitely better than they were years ago, are they perfect no — but a heck of a lot better tho. We can actually drive up hills and in the grass, we can drive 100kmh, we can honk a bloody horn, we can repair engines, tires and body panels. A few years ago, none of that was possible. You’d look at a car and it flew through the air killing survivors. Trying to drive up even the slightest grade hill, especially off-road was a nightmare. And we couldn’t repair damaged parts.

    I don't think they should quit making core changes like that (game does need them), but this is something they should have done much sooner. Movement, vehicles, general physics, health system, melee/gun mechanics... those are core features. Those should be done as early as possible and they set the direction and feel of the game. Although, I would rather have core updates late than never having them updated.

    BI never ceases to amaze me

    Maybe that's the case, but they should quit making changes of such magnitude, at this stage in the game. If they don't know where to spend resources, they could look at fixing cars (JK that's never going to happen). This is another reason why I think the stamina system was dumb to implement until there were reliable vehicles. Maybe I should just fire up the DayZ mod instead. I think it would feel more pure at this point.

    1.21 Server Wipe Announcement

    If the "problem" was a "string limit" to the files of "storage_1", then it would really be the case to "fix the game" and increase this limit (or even want to stick with 16-bit OSes, 120Gb HDs , etc.). But I don't think this is the problem, many private servers have many more players than 64 and in servers with "traders" people buy everything and more, especially when only PvE. Therefore I do NOT believe there is a real (on a current practical level) limit to the things that can be accumulated. Another matter is on any changes to the map. Yes, that's right, there are some changes from time to time. I once found myself a light pole (added in an update) inside a tent in a base. NOT a real problem! I could empty the tent and move it. I didn't care, because I didn't have the space to put it somewhere else and it stayed where it was, with the light pole inside... and who cares. It's a matter of rating as to which is the worst case scenario. *) Disassemble everything and move it elsewhere, in a space that I didn't have? *) Leave the pole inside the tent and forget about it? I chose the 2nd. Now I don't even notice it anymore. And in any case you would really ruin the game for ALL the players (the official servers have the "hive" in common and record the things of thousands of players in all the B.I. servers) only for the "possible risk" (stupid and irrelevant ) of some basis here and there ? You're like these programmers: either completely uninterested in player expectations or you "like" to screw up the game. This last one is an idea that came to me over time seeing all the absurd and unrealistic choices made on purpose and not by mistake! And then, who says that the majority of players don't care (or wouldn't care) to build a base, create survival stocks and try to "survive" better and better and longer: which is the real purpose of the game? And even if it were true... why ruin the game for everyone else... WITHOUT REAL TECHNICAL REASON... ? That's what I often wondered after I understood what the management direction of this game was, which was exactly the opposite of what the game itself is, and "tells" about it: survival in a global pandemic. Maybe because they are incapable of really fixing the game? And for this reason it is more convenient for him to have "occasional" players (who do not understand and are not interested in the "snags" of the game). Or have players who don't care to play "seriously survival" (which would be too complicated to actually implement), but who come in, dress up, look for weapons and hunt down other players (just give them some clothes, guns and some bullshit to play with: and that's exactly what these programmers are doing). It's too complicated to implement systems to create realistic and functioning bases... it's too complicated to make the vehicles work decently (we've seen this for years... they can't or don't really want to do it !)... The " Wipe" is ONLY functional for this: disadvantaging those who really try to play this game and want to build a decent life for themselves in a world devastated by the pandemic (which is the substance of the game: try to deny it if you dare) and favor all players " casual" who just try the game for a while then go off to play something else, and all those who are only interested in "manhunting", as if DayZ were a "simple or exotic variant" of ArmA, or COD , or Battlefield... all players who have "simple and elementary" needs to whom "little changes" all the difficulties of building the bases (they have made them more and more difficult, creating more and more difficulties in collisions with objects and with the ground ) and vehicles (generally mainly used by those who want to "settle down" in a place, and not live like a "bad bum" always looking for a victim to pass the time. Nice shit game, like that. OK, views on how to play. But DO NOT say that "Wipes" are "necessary to the game" because it is NOT true. It is only a deliberate choice that pursues a specific goal: to disadvantage those who want to play this game seriously for its substance (and which, obviously, is "inconvenient" because they complain much more about the shortcomings and defects of the game) and to favor the players " occasional" and "extreme PvP" ones (who don't care about the game's serious and congenital flaws. And who, in my opinion, would do better to go back to ArmA or COD... or Battlefield). Or... and it's something I've been thinking about lately, they're just trying to get players to "escape" from public B.I. servers and end up on modded community servers to save on server running costs. However you look at it, the fact remains that the "Wipes" are NOT "technically indispensable" even for a flawed game like DayZ, but are deliberate choices made at the table that ruin the game for all those players who "would like" to seriously play this game UNTIL THE END... which given the peculiarity of the game could also NEVER arrive! If you are good at surviving and avoiding other human beings (I am one of them)... you could also live for years and years, and this would be the "real victory"... so much for assholes and murderers of all kinds! This is the game. This is the substance of a game that has "survival in a world devastated by a pandemic" as its main theme! And the "Wipe" "interrupts" it for no real reason, but only to favor (precisely) the "occasional" or assholes and murderers. A great free wickedness. It's just a pity that this game doesn't have a worthy competitor... at least I haven't found it yet, otherwise I wouldn't still be here complaining about the bad choices and the game's shortcomings.

You may not block roads. 5. No building in or around airfields, It is allowed to overlook the airfield if tall enough. 6. Bases can have a maximum of 15 locked doors. 7. Only 1 generator is allowed to be used per base due to lag. 8. A base must be built realistic with all areas being supported no massive overhangs. 9. You cannot build trap bases. 10 .No Building close to safe zones (1000m) 11. No floating bases 12. No building in police stations / fire stations / prisons / medical buildings 13. No building within 1000m of any trader 14.No building within 80m of an ATM 15. Do not block marked water fountains on the map 16. Staff have final say when it comes to the locations of bases and reserve the right to destroy them if it breaches any rules 17. Use common sense - do not block off care packages / spawn zones (building supplies etc). 18. Bases will be considered abandoned if the owner(s) of the base hasn't connected to the server to defend the base within 14 days. 19. Bases need to be secured to be considered occupied with code lock or combination lock otherwise it will be considered abandoned. 20. No bases are to be built on the water (boat docks allowed as long as there is one radiable entrance). 21. Upon request, we will delete abandoned bases and its contents so that players may base there. 22. Absolutely NO tent stacking. 23. Illegally placed items and stacked walls/doors are subject to deletion at the discretion of an admin. 1. Buddy jumping and using vehicles to get over walls is allowed . 2. Glitching through walls is not allowed to gain entry to bases. 3. Do not grief bases or vehicles unless it will help gain entry into a base! 4. Don't be greedy only take what you want or need try to leave basic items to help people re build. 5. Don't go around raiding bases for the sake of it. Have a reason to raid. 6. You may dismantle areas of a base to gain easier entry in and out but cannot dismantle the whole base for the purpose of griefing. 7. Do not pull items out of storage containers for the purpose of despawning these items.

    Modifications

    It would be great to be able to modify vehicles, clothing and bases, on console. For vehicles I'd like to be able to add defensive panels against bullets and zombies, I.e. ram bars plated windows, head light and tail light covers. Being able to modify your look! Open or closes jacket, being able to wear your hood up. Crafting variations of clothing you wear, like removing sleeves or fingers on gloves, being able to wear your hat backwards and being able to attach more items to back packs/ rucksacks like gas masks or magazines. When it comes to bases on console it would be nice to board up windows instead of building a wall in front of them, or even being able to use sheet metal shutters that you can interact with. Home defensive traps, shotgun traps that go off if someone breaches your door. Not sure what if any of these you could actually implement in the game these are just ideas that would be great in my opinion. One last thing I'd really love to have an m1a socom rifle in game on console just give it the same ammo as the m4 and attachments. Dayz is the one game that I have played that is never the same each time I play it, it has an amazing amount of room to just keep growing.

    ps4 server lag since 1.20

    Yes. I have rented a server for my friends and I who are more interested in PvE with minimal modifications. We recently revisited DayZ because of the updates since the last we played and were taken aback by the horrible "lag spikes" while driving. ....a problem that was resolved long ago for us when we had upgraded to external SSD's and then, eventually PS5's. We are sorely disappointed by this set back as the problem is like it was back when we were on PS4's with internal HDDs and freezes that would last 10-20 seconds. In fact, the freezes are actually worse now and more frequent. Last night I crashed several times because of lag and the duration was (at times) 30 seconds or more. What's funny is that the night started out "ok". ....not good, but "ok" with frequent stutters. You literally have to drive ~20 KPH or less to avoid serious injury. Damage is still possible and we actually 2 tires and had to repair them twice (each) before the night was through. It's at the point where a somewhat fun session was completely ruined by this problem. .....and to think I'm paying for it with the server rental. There is really no excuse for this IMO. They always seem to break something with new updates. It feels like one step forward and then two steps back. It's my understanding that the problem becomes a problem due to the fact that vehicles are handled server-side vs. locally? ....and that it wasn't always this way (i.e. ARMA2). The external SDD had an impact on performance as did the PS5 which made a huge difference. What changed with the latest update(s) to cause this? I submitted a trouble ticket but as usual, I have never heard anything back. Hell, I'm even willing to help any way I can if it can assist in determining the problem. It's not my internet as it's never changed and in fact is fast than ever with >300+/11+ speeds (rental server is local). If this persists, I will let this month's rental lapse and take another siesta for several months (perhaps permanent this time). .....it's come to the point of being that "game-breaking" now which is a real shame as we really enjoy this game. To add insult to injury, servers now cost $16 vs. $13 when I last rented one. Not much but certainly not worth it for what is essentially a broken game.
