I remember this script written by some mapmaker who made racing maps (the script was for OFP and a long time ago hence me not remembering the mapmakers name) which gave you a menu option to flip a vehicle to its upright position if it has been flipped over or to its side. I would think it shouldn't be too hard to incorporate a script like this for vehicles in Dayz, especially vehicles that flip over easily like the ATV for example.

should there be regular resets on characters
ZedsDeadBaby replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, sadly, I think he's actually suggesting a full complete reset/wipe of everything including tents & vehicles. It's like "Oh, no. My baby has the sniffles. Someone get a sledgehammer so I can smash his skull!" -
should there be regular resets on characters
Vipeax replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I quoted all parts of your post that I thought was quite funny. You keep mentioning that people who stock up gear in tents, use duping methods, stock vehicles and are basically ready for a future death would be affected the most by a reset like this. How are people with a full deck of items going to be affected? The moment they die they run back to their camp and get a new set. This thread misses on 1 + 1 = 2. -
should there be regular resets on characters

No one finds tents legitimately No one finds vehicles legitimately No one repairs vehicles legitimately No one builds a camp legitimately No one collects and stores gear legitimately Oh wait.... -
should there be regular resets on characters
ZedsDeadBaby replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As if there are no players in between these and people like you who probably die in Cherno 8 minutes after spawning. No. Nor would they bother repairing too many vehicles, gathering tents, attempting to play in large, organized groups, etc., etc. In other words the game would suck. What a silly idea. Oh, it's vanilladragon. Silly me. Go read OP's post history for some hilarious comedy. -
- LAGS are caused by driving, in special "crashing" vehicles. This is already made public and hopefully fixed soon - read this: link Always at your Service!

Awesome. What about this? Never seen these vehicles before. On that link it only lists 2 boats, fishing boat and the PBX, but I thought the fishing boat was massive.

Kicking of Players for Clan members
Wildcard_tw replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Only admin abuse that I personally experienced was having admins kick everyone out and lock the server down when a buddy of mine ran across their little stockpile (about a dozen tents filled w/ shit and a couple of vehicles). He killed one of them when he was spotted and started investigating the tents, soon after we all get the boot. We rejoined the server once they unlocked it and they had moved all the loot. Pussies. -
The definitive VEHICLE SPAWNS thread
LeNger replied to MR DELICIOUS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I haven't found any types of vehicles at Green Mount. Been there on multiple servers... :< Btw add this to the list: 2 ATVs spawn on Klen (NW of Berezino) 100% sure. -
One of the guys of the HSZ group, who currently have their camp set up in NY8 on 1.6.0.1 at coordinates 146(Top),016(Left) blatantly disconnected when we returned fire after he tried sniping us while we were pillaging his group's tents. If you HSZ guys read this, your tents are empty and vehicles are stolen, don't even bother logging back in. It's frustrating but also saddening when people pull these disconnects. Here hopes for a fix soon.
-
They won't be deleted. Be careful though, people do search for off-map tents and vehicles.

To be honest, my Server got desync/lag problems since the vehicles are on it. It's also reproducable. If, for example, i am driving a vehicle all is more or less ok. But if i drive the vehicle into one tree the server produces a LOT of pending messages in the ArmaOAServer.rpt file. Worst case was that the 'connection lost since xx seconds' counter begun to run, after 15 second and a bunch of player which lost the connection completly, we were able to play again. P.s.: I have enough Bandwidth (min. guaranteed 10MBit/s, max. 1000MBit/s) but still the Lag Spikes are unbelievable strong.

Yes' date=' that sounds awesome! I'm not familiar with the spawning mechanics of vehicles, but it seems strange to artificially limit the number per server, do you know if there is a technical reason for this or if its just arbitrary? If you read my post you might be surprised that I mention items stored in vehicles might not be able to be packed up with them, so you could still loot after someone disconnects with their car. I don't really care either way, I use vehicles for transport not so much storing items, but it's good to see people have an opinion on the matter. I actually didn't know that cars stayed in the server after you disconnect, I read somewhere rocket talking about how to 'save cars' to a server, I only assumed they disappeared with you if you managed to save them, forgive my ignorance. Though I don't think this is optimal, to me it makes sense that if you logged out you get to keep the spoils of your game, not all of us have time for long gaming sessions. I guess it is a 'care bear' solution in that manner, but I would argue it makes the game more accessible rather than simple. (Before people get upset by the word accessible, I mean usable by those who do not play the game for large stretches of time, not dumbing down) I really didn't expect people to defend the existing vehicle system so vehemently :P

Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0
gr0g88 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree. I like that idea I had about getting "repair books" and scrap metal to a machine shop for parts. I would love to see a LM6000 gas turbine ingame. I wasnt trying to play PowerPlant Simulator 2012, just saying its a little outside the scope of Zombie Simulator 2013. Basement diesel gens I think are the way to go. Power a single building. it is your clans new fort. make fuel runs. easy to see out of. electric gates. SPOT LIGHTS OMFG. maybe even charge electric carts/vehicles? they could be silent. Also, sorry for excessive overkill on power plant info, but, you know, its mah thang. -
Guessing this Weapon is hacked
Luigi (DayZ) replied to Luigi (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Im gonna wait and see what the dev's say first if they say its legal ill keep it if not ill drop it. Its Nice for spotting vehicles though -
So you want big groups of people to be able to hoard 10 ATV's to one server? (leaving the other servers ATV-less since there's a limited amount of vehicles spawning) I no like. It's fine how it is, just find yourself a stable server and get your vehicles on that.

I don't usually use the same server day after day, sometimes a server just won't let me in, or is particularly laggy one day or I want to join a friend already playing, I figured there were people out there who also don't stick to the same servers but would like to keep vehicles they find. It's not supposed to be realistic, I know that's the cardinal sin for a Day Z suggestion, but as I said, it's not a permanent solution, it's a means to an ends, to stop a bug eating your car, which might I add, is not realistic. Also players would only ever do this right before disconnecting, again something that you don't do in real life. Sure they can pack it up at other times, but with the reduced walking speed, the inability to shoot or some other deterrence, there would be no point, so no one would do it. There are countless pointless things which you can do in the game, but they don't break the realism because they don't affect the game play.

I would pay a subscription fee only if the game world was made to come alive via regular events (e.g. military raids), side missions and other new features by the devs. I would also expect periodic new content like maps, vehicles, weapons, characters. I think the problem with subscriptions is the customer has to really feel they are getting a lot back regularly, putting constant pressure to innovate on the devs. However, if this would secure the future of DayZ I would pay, no question.

Top 3 Bugs you want fixed, Top 3 Features you want added
Phazey replied to caddrel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My three bugs: 1. Breaking bones for no reason (crawling over a step, running into a fence with a friend bumpnig you, etc) 2. The various duping exploits. 3. The server memory leak that makes every server require a reboot every few hours My three features: 1. Deployable camo nets, the ability to bury stuff and other base building stuff 2. Rare patrolling / travelling zombies in the wilderness 3. More light vehicles -
The current system only saves a vehicle to the server you find it on, and as I understand it's a bit unstable. There is probably a way to get vehicles working between servers which will be implemented in the future, but until then I have a suggestion which should be relatively easy to implement as a stand in until vehicles are fixed properly. Suggestion: Make vehicles able to be packed up, like the tent is currently, but make them only take up one inventory slot and force the player walk quite slowly while holding it. The intent would be to pick up you vehicle when you disconnect to keep it safe in your inventory, not for walking around with. I was thinking make the player completely stationary while holding it, but they would have to be able to move around a little bit, just in case they need to move to a larger area to set it down again. The only down sides I can see are not being able to keep the items you store in the vehicle (the tent can't do this when you pack it up, but I suppose it was on purpose and might not be difficult to change). Or someone could pack up your car and flee the server, putting a long delay before the packing happens could probably fix this though I know it's a bit hacky it's not meant as a permanent solution, until rocket gets vehicles bug free it would make finding and fixing them a lasting reward, nothing is worse spending hours fixing up only to lose it to a bug. EDIT: It may be 'unrealistic' but it wouldn't effect game play at all, only disconnecting, which is already an unrealistic practice.

I have been hoping server to server mainly because as soon as I find what I think is a decent server.... the admins or hackers start spawning crazy vehicles and fast forwarding the day night cycle...... soo Any decent servers out there with active admins that respect a hack free environment. Prefer an opposite to est so i get some daylight play time. Send me a message or direct me to your server.. thanks... Yea sorry for the whiney post

Yeah, vehicles are WAY to fragile. I tapped a fully repaired tractor against a tree and it exploded... ;.;

Respawning vehicles is currently not in game, but i would expect it soon, as it is 'easier' to do than many other things.
