Is it possible to prevent going outside the map borders? Like, you start to loosing blood when you go past the border, or get a time before you die (like in battlefield series)... etc. Tired of seeing all the vehicles being saved ~10km beyond the map border.

Server Reset/Refresh

HAHAHA. Sorry they drove off all the vehicles off the map. Then went to another server to do it. Oh well part of the game. Sucks for us. -
No Vehicles on Servers: Heres the fix
Louis (DayZ) replied to greyfoxzb@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I did say 24 hours is a bit to short, maybe 48? I agree that 1 week is to long, but 24 hours is also to short. So if I didn't play every single day of my life I did lose almost everything i have achived in this game? that's just ridiculous. 2-3 days would be great. And the crafting vehicles idea is just stupid ... unlealistic and stupid. If there should be a vehicle crafting system, it shouldn't be something everyone could just do the first day they play. It should cost a LOT more, and I did like to see you build a fully functional car... -
I think there's a way to remove barbed wires - hidden vehicles? Your responsibility for finding them. That's how the game works. Just like every other server. Removing barbed wires can be done with hand grenades (easily acquired from soldier zombies and deer stands). Another method (this is what I've been told by a random player) is having an entrenchment pack which gives the option to dismantle/destroy wire fencing.

Animal Companions& Vehicle Inventory
Milk (DayZ) replied to Janeral's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Can I eat the dog once I have befriended it? I usually like pets in games but I don't think it's needed in this game. Summoning your vehicles to your location is too easy and unappealing. I like the idea of keys though so you're the only one that can drive it until someone kills you and takes them... But I also like highjacking other peoples vehicles so I wouldn't support this idea. The cooking seems like a good idea. I don't support the bank or heli-points. The map really isn't that big. -
More skins more weapons more vehicles. Also maybe some combinable weapons like Enfield plus Scope => Enfield with Scope!

Dedicated Servers for the love of God
Rakkasan replied to Rakkasan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bohemia Interactive Dedicated Servers...is what I was talking about. Not private servers. Right now in its state, if it (whatever you are looking for parts, gear, or player) is not on the server you are on, you can simply hop until you find it. Death is 100% completely avoidable. No risk, but great rewards. Once you learn the system, you can gather weapons, vehicles, and gear within 1-2 hours. -
A week Playing as a Non-combatant Medic.
Vultcha replied to wulfenrider@msn.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i'm striving to do this as well... only using "lame" vehicles to assist me like boats and atvs/bikes. but yea, armed with a hatchet and makarov. the biggest obstacle i see to doing this, beyond any pvp, will be the complete absence of global chat. interested to see you post your results. -
Hey Guys! Okay so this is just a basic idea right now, buti thought about two additions to the game. 1.) Animal Companions I think there should be animal companions, like Dogs, Chickens, Snakes, Cats.. those you'd find in the area basically. The reason for this is that i think since side channel was removed the players need some company on their journey to not "die of loneliness" - think Will Smith in "I Am Legend". These companions should, of course, not be given to the player initially, he has to find them so that he values them more when he gets them. I think zombies should have a drop chance for various animal companions (or items like Dog Whistle, Snake Cage...). Some should be more rare than others. Basically like this: Animal: Dropchance Chicken: 6% Cat:5% Dog:4% Snake ( needs to be a big one so you can see it): 0.5% so players have something to search for, think of it as kind of an "endgame addition". Having a snake as a companion might demonstrate that you have lived very long or are very experienced - or just had luck of course. 2.) Vehicle "Inventory" I think we should apply a similar concept to vehicles. As of now, if you find a vehicle, its easy to lose it because of engine failures, other players stealing it or crashes. I think that it should be possible to kind of "carry them around". Like this: you find a vehicle in the open and repair it, after you've done so you can put the keys in your inventory. From that point on you can "summon" your vehicle at any point of the map. Of course this should take some time to simulate the player getting the vehicle. This would greatly reduce stress and help players get around more easily on this huge map. There are some other things i've thought about, but i still need some time.. here's just a small brainstorm of my other ideas: "Bank of Chernarus" - Basically an institution where you can drop off a certain number of items (4-5) to pick them up on your next respawn. Should require some kind of payment. "Heli-Points" - Helicopters standing around in some major cities like Cherno and Elektro, Berezino and maybe the NW Airfield. You could "hire" them to fly you around between these cities. Would simulate ex-military pilots trying to survive? Cooking - As of now there's only canned food and cooked meat. I thought that maybe we could add recipes that your character can learn to create more delicious food - after all there are a lot of fresh ingredients in the wilderness, or dried spices in people's houses. These special foods could give you short-term advantages, like faster running maybe..? thank you for reading this guys xD Janeral

So I was travelling up to Solnichy, when I managed to find a military truck absolutely FULL of all kinds of military weapons (DMRs and some silenced rifle that I am not sure is even able to spawn in DayZ). Nevertheless, I took up position near the vehicle and managed to snipe two of its owners (by the name of Dima and his friend barstarzzz). I thought I had found the jackpot and I was waiting for my friends to get on. Soon "Dima" returned, TWICE within a timeframe of around 10-15 mins, loaded with a coyote backpack (that's right) a DMR, and a silenced rifle (and all tools currently available). I know this because I managed to kill him twice as he was trying to hijack one of the vehicles (there was a bus and a tractor there too). I understood that it is absolutely impossible to get ahold of that gear in such a small timeframe, and I soon realized this must be some sort of hack. I looked it up and I think these guys were using a script similar to the one in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uRfMbjMdMw). This happened around 00:00 to 00:30 (GMT+1). I am currently equipped with their equipment (DMR and revolver only, I dropped the silenced rifle in fear of a ban). Should I drop everything that they spawned, or is it okay if I hold on to it? Edit: I should also add that when I killed them, it registered as friendly fire.

The party that was hiding the vehicles was actually doing a good job. Two ATV's partly hidden by a tree and a dirtbike. The vehicles as a whole were very far away from any populated area and well off in the wilderness away from any settlements with anything significant to loot. I passed by about 20 meters to the left of it, not noticing anything at all when suddenly out of the corner of my eye...I see a bright shiny white truck. Not only did I find some very good gear for my day old character in these vehicles: NVGoggles, rangefinder, map, gps, medical supplies, military grade ammo. I also took an ATV for a spin. Long story short, don't try and hide yo big ass white truck in the woods or some carebearing noob is gonna loot yo place. PS. If you want the ATV back, walk north to a big clearing, on the far side it should be there.

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ
Shakakahn replied to Milk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't understand why anyone tries to set up any kind of permant residence. I've seen a few tents and vehicles through my travels in Dayz but I've never had the need to store the vehicle anywhere or setup a tent and store items. Just play the game for what it is, a unique experience each survival atempt. -
I'm posting for a friend because he's having trouble getting his email verified. Either way, 2 friends of mine had the same bullshit happen to them last night. Found a camp stocked with vehicles and weapons and commenced looting. 20 minutes later they were kicked from the server. Every time they attempt to rejoin they get auto-kicked.

Server hopping. Looting/Farming Bypassing barricades Logging off to get better position to kill another player who has the jump on you. Disconnecting to avoid player/zombie kills. Nothing need to be said here. Vehicle Hoarding. (Goes with hopping) Groups/Players/Clans jumping from server to server to gather vehicle parts and hoarding all the vehicles on one single server. There needs to be some kind of control when one can just simply leave the dangerous environment and log onto another server where it is safe. Hopping servers to "gather" shit to bring to your own server, or simply to "farm" up gear. If there isn't a tire in the warehouse you are on, can go server to server to find one. Too simple. Dumbed down. In my opinion your character data should be stored on the server you play on. If you leave it for another, then you are on another completely different toon which is not associated in anyway with any other toon you have elsewhere. A simple solution to a major problem.

Are you sure you weren't just shot by multiple people with DMR's or something we have all our weapons in a truck and when ever looting somewhere at least 2 of us stay and snipe, if it were a hacker why would they also need to put stuff in vehicles?
-
As far as player tents. I think they should despawn on the players death. No idea how vehicles work in DayZ, in terms of ownership.

Really annoying problem
Milk (DayZ) replied to knucklesMad@1.7.1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thats not as bad as the server crashing and all your tents and vehicles getting wiped. -
any vehicles? Not yet. If I manage to acquire one I'll post here.

any vehicles?

Seattle 30 "Official Day/v/" server
nacrom replied to dephroyal@gmail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I was there as well and confirm all of this. The rest of us had to take what we could from the vehicles, dumping highly valuable/rare gear and move to another server. -
Never ment to make anyone cry for shure! Actually i'm pretty gratefull you read all that :) Im not really sure i understand what your last post said, english is not my first language it could be that :) Either way i think it's very good to talk about this and to have different points, and you are well in your rights to post it ofcours, afterall if we don't rant about it, Rocket won't know :D Also, and i don't want to be sarcastic or anything like 'getting you away from the game' or something, but from what I believe you are looking for in a game you realy might enjoy "Dead Island" , it's a good game, nice graphics and gameplay, allot of looting and suchs, also some vehicles, a big map and lots of crazy weapons. You can play it co-op up to 4 players and it's ofcours not pvp! It's a little crappy on the lay-out tough because it's rebuild for PC from a console game ! Z

terrible idea is terrible... but not because you lose everything (you could achieve that by deleting all tents and vehicles upon death), but because there is no where in hell i'll let a matchmaking system chose my server for me. thats what kills multiplayer games. and also because you cant play with your friends, which is one of the main components of the game. sorry your idea is just terrible.

Seattle 30 "Official Day/v/" server
dephroyal@gmail.com posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Me and a few buddies hopped onto this server after it being suggested after Dallas 24/26 being shut down. Lived in the wilderness per-usual and found a camp site with 4-5 vehicles (Urals, tractor, ATVs, etc) and 7 m4a1 holo SD 203 launchers in one of their tents (hackers/dupers). Anyways, we went down to the shore after taking two vehicles and killed someone repairing a truck and their passenger, took the truck and drove it up north..suddenly server crashed. Server comes back up and im in a valley by the V35(sp?) and see the same guy we killed inside the truck on the road, kill him and hide the body and hop back into the V35. Head down the road and in-counter a survivor with a hatchet. I attempt to run him over and then suddenly, banned from server. So not only is the server admin, supporting a group of dupers/hackers..he bans people for killing, raiding their poorly hidden camp sites and generally abuses his admin rights by telling others on the server of where people are who killed him..while side/global chat is disabled. p.s. "no crying allowed" is a server message displayed when you join..kinda ironic. TL;DR Hacking/duping admin that crashes his server to recover vehicles/gear/destroyed tents. Server admins name is "Trioxin 245" -
I've been playing DayZ nightly for about two weeks now and up until this point I've had a pretty smooth experience with the game until yesterday. My friends and I logged into our normal server (us77) and half our tents were empty. We chalked it up to being raided and moved the camp. We got everything situated in a totally new area. The server started lagging and then went down. When it came back up all our tents and vehicles were gone. I wasn't upset. I shrugged my shoulders and told myself "Easy come, easy go". I know things like this are bound to happen. We all regrouped and decided to raid Berezino for tents, med supplies, etc. It was intense and super fun. By this time we had switched servers to us85 because us77 was always a little bit glitchy. We all went south and put up new tents, raided Electro and then logged. This morning we got on and were at our tents looking through last nights loot when all of a sudden everyone on the server died. I was a bit perturbed but not that upset until I got to our new tent site. We hadn't just died, we had all exploded.. Making all the new tents and gear in them completely useless. That's when I got upset. Essentially I had just wasted all the hours I'd played last night and lost it to a hacker. I really really hope they fix these issues soon because the last 24 hours made me start questioning why I'm even playing this game. I understand DayZ is in alpha but all that happened just left a bitter taste in my mouth. :-/
