    Vehicle and loot spawn

Servers that restart retain the saved vehicles. If a vehicle hasn't been touched for 7 days then it will be destroyed and another random vehicle will spawn in the server. Theoretically you could have a ton of vehicles. Keep in mind that others are after this as well and thinking like this would get you killed.
  2. Nebo NZ

    So I think I killed a Hacker

Well yeah I've read of people using scrips to spawn prohibited vehicles and such.

    How to find a Vehicle?

All right, but those may be good for scouting for other vehicles :D Anyway keep looking but avoid the most "popular" place like story sobor military, there's a skoda that spawn there but it will be probably found before you can say "waiting for character to create"
  4. This is complete and absolute hogwash! I'm effected in a variety of ways personally, some very severe from a game play standpoint: First, it exponentially increases the rates of player logins near high value loot. So while I'm playing - legitimately moving from town-to-town to find loot - I am constantly under threat from people popping into existence behind me because they find it more efficient to server-hop to loot the same location over and over. This has a huge impact on tactical game play mechanics. If I approach a high-value loot location, carefully scouting every possible approach and then "clearing" the building, I should have some assurances that I'm not going to be ambushed by someone logging in behind me. Yes, this will still happen randomly from "fresh" spawns, but the rates will go down by orders of magnitude if we make it less profitable to server hop for loot. See this thread for an in-depth discussion on the many issues caused by frequent logins. Second, server-hopping detracts from the persistence in the world. Instead of a 225km^2 map where people are traveling from place-to-place to vye for limited resources, you have ~6 "hot spots" in the game where people spend all day constantly server hopping in an attempt to gather loot or murder those who are. Once towns or camps are "looted out" and players know they can't simply swap servers to loot the whole place again, they will be forced to travel to another location. This creates a more interesting world, and a more fluid game experience. Players tend to stay on the same server longer, and you can track enemies, be tracked, and engage in more long-term interactions than you can in a world where ~50% of any given server population are just "popping in for a quick visit don't mind me I'll just grab my loot and be off." Likewise, players who camp hotspots waiting for loot farmers to login only to snipe them before their client finishes loading would find far fewer targets - and they might actually have to get up and move around a bit and use their brains to find targets instead of just sitting AFK with their sniper scope trained on the Stary Sobor military tents while they watch Netflix and eat cocoa puffs. Incidentally this also adds more value to vehicles. Once you actually need to travel to effectively gather loot, vehicles will be even higher value assets. Third, in this game's extremely competitive environment it is important to understand the flow of high-value loot and the impact it has on the prevalance of certain items, weapon types, etc. I am personally effected if design decisions are being made about spawn rates and item rarity based on the game when it allows for such a watered-down, cheap and largely challenge-free method for collecting large amounts of loot in a repetitive manner. Don't over-simplify a rather complex issue in order to dismiss a solution that isn't that much of a "penalty" for anyone who is not specifically and directly abusing the system on a regular basis. Again, a 1500m jog is not too much to ask. Just enough to make it annoying for exploiters without really inconveniencing legitimate players much in the process. I laughed. A lot. But I'm a bit scared at the idea that people may not realize to what extent the guy you were answering to ridiculously failed to make a point. IT'S NOT FAAAAAAIR !!! HAHA ! GOTCHA ! Really... Do you seriously believe you made any kind of point there ? It's so cute. I found that line very moving. I'm even thinking about starting a thread in the suggestion forum titled "Please' date=' rocket, for the sake of realism, give Hendrix a canopener". HAHA ! The difficult questions now. Well, how come you know for sure that same person has no prior experience of shooting, reparing, flying ... ? Who said that ? Oh' date=' after 10 lines of BS, now you're having legitimate concerns. Too bad they're still totally off-topic. Topic : server hoping. For loot. To backstab. To avoid death. Bad. Has to go. I won't even continue commenting on the rest of your rubbish except this particular piece, which I'll never forget : That is a really, really cute way of understanding probabilities ! I suggest you find a position ASAP as a risk analyst in a major financial institution, they definitely need more people like you.
  5. I stole truck full of equipment so now I have M4A1 Holo, Coyote backpack, ammo and medical supplies after rougly 1 hour of gameplay. Also the truck is decked out, so I can just go and get some stuff whenever I need to. I had a M107 yesterday but I left it in the camp where I found the truck, so I will have to go back and retrieve it along with more vehicles. http://i.imgur.com/02FyQ.png http://i.imgur.com/CNIWl.png http://i.imgur.com/KdcVQ.png http://i.imgur.com/tSwDc.jpg I just need some damn nightvision goggles and I'm set for hunting in the dark.

    Dedicated servers/ Trusted Players

Dear Rocket, I have found out a way to get rid of all this Admin power abuse. Host your own servers!!! XOXOXOXO, Legendary_Strawberry But in all profuseness you really need to host your own SERVERS(this will insure us{all your fans/followers/game lovers that will eventually buy this game} fairness throughout the game, and i know there is reasons why you let other people host, but once you give man power they will abuse. Just imagine you have 2 vehicles 4 tents filled with items and you get ransacked, or they lose a car because it has been stolen with few click of the mouse they can get it all back!!!! and they will, this needs to be stopped!!!!!!!! I know hosting your own servers is troublesome but i mean give it a thought(im pretty sure you have), but maybe instead just make your criteria harsher on hosting. and maybe hire(for free/people willing to advise servers you lend out) to look over these servers and take in comments to keep the admins in check. Nothing ruins a game like cheaters, at least hackers have to work for there cheats(which means less of them) but when you have 1 ADMIN and 10-20 plus clan mates you now have possibly 21 cheaters. I just feel like this should be addressed alot harsher then it is now! thanks for your time, Legendary_Strawberry

    Graffiti / Markings Spray

Would love to be able to spray vehicles as well. Nobody in their right mind would drive around a bright yellow car. At the very least they would spray it completely black, and more logically it would get sprayed with some sort of camo pattern.
  8. I'm looking for a server with the following criteria : Third person : On Crosshairs : On Map doesn't show people around you Must be able to see waypoints No name-tags Admins don't own everything on the server / hide shit off map to keep it theirs. I've went through several servers and every server i've gone to has had admins hiding vehicles off map or restarting the server if they lose their equipment. Yes, i'm looking DIRECTLY at you Atlanta 59 Admin. Every vehicle on the map taken, all of them hidden off map. We thought about playing on your server, but the only thing we could find to repair was a bike. That's it, everything else is gone, we checked all the spawn points. You have a base south of the NW airfield that is surrounded by barbed wire and tank traps, don't worry, we stole all your gear and moved it off server prior to your rolling it back to fill those same tents again. We even went back and checked them to make sure that is what was happening and yep! Full tents! It is completely stupid that admins have this kind of power. Then you have Chicago 59 and UTO who one of their members is using the hack that allows you to find all the vehicles on the map. That same member and no, it isn't Loster4 bless her heart who is completely blind as a bat, can pick up people who are prone in guili suits who haven't so much as fired a shot and kill them. I've died a lot in DayZ, I know when it's my fault and I know when it's stupid bullshit hacks that happen. It's getting so out of hand right now that Battleeye REALLY needs to get involved in this because I feel like i'm playing Battlefield 3 again with all the blatant hacking. So, LOOKING FOR A SERVER that me and my friends can migrate to with the above listed things. Prefereably an Atlanta / East Coast based server if you would. Thanks in advance.
  9. as far i can see they only have them, aswell the forum is telling you will NOT get banned for picking up hacked weapons. i picked up some days ago one aswell, aswell i picked up a m4cco sd grenade launcher. besides they both have a tag when i picked them up,so perhaps there new weapons keep adding in for the people to keep varity, aswell even if they are spawned they would be banned, cause BE easely take out the weapon spawners,im not talking about the vehicles, since on my server vehicle spawning keeps being a problem, but weapon spawners,BE have no mercy with. kind regards,
  10. How about when a person dies, any vehicles they have saved becomes unsaved (or something) and then will respawn if not saved again within a certain time.
  11. Me: MK48, FN FAL, All Equipment + Coyote backpack Teammate's / Storage: M107's, AS50's, Bizon's SD's, M4SD's FN FALs, NoobTubes, DMRS, M24's,M249, around 6-7 vehicles stacked with the above multiple times. Crashed helis and NW airfield are a godsend.

    server restarts

I was playing on AZ1 when the server restarted. it was an expert server but for some reason, when i relogged, the name changed from AZ1 to US57 AZ1 along with all the difficulty settings off. I wanted to leave the server since it wasn't expert anymore but since i have vehicles on it, i have to stay. It's ridiculous, i could see my UAZ through tags from 1km away.
  13. The Hedgehog

    Storage and hording

Well me and some friends found a couple stashed vehicles along with tents. there was a buss some tractors a couple jeeps a bike and a truck. took a couple vehicles along with a bunch of guns like L85's m107s bizons and a TON of ammo. it was fun.
  14. Kain Phalanx

    Storage and hording

I'm more concerned with vehicle hoarding in particular. That's just lame seeing as how they are finite. Everyone else has to walk past all that industrial loot or hold on to some against all hope of actually finding a vehicle. And the best tool for finding more vehicles is a vehicle, so the problem is exacerbated from the start.

    Banned from Dallas 54

We have a clan mate who drives us places when we get killed, so we can get to our tents and resupply, we do this so dying becomes LESS of a hassle than it is. Its about the survival of our group. Depending on what kit we have, in what tents, and what vehicles we have available to us, we can re-acquire kit quite fast. I would like to know the exact time of that 4min re-kit though?
  16. I think Day Z needs safe zones, small areas spread throughout the map where friendly players can group up and then head out into the rest of the hostile world. This safe zones where a fort, or a building would have automated turrets that kill bandits on sight. Otherwise the bandits would just camp the entrances and exits to these safe zones. Also there should be at least 10 of these in the game world. Whether it be a bunker in the middle of the wilderness. A 2 story building in Cherno, or a one of the Castles. This would allow friendly players to trade with each other, chat about adventures, maybe even store stuff, and most of all group up. I also think that civilian heli in Arma 2 (the big white and blue one with no guns) should be in Day Z, the friendly players can use it as a taxi, or a search and rescue chopper, or an exploration chopper. Lastly I think vehicles should have keys, not everyone in a zombie apocalypse knows how to hotwire a car come on! So vehicles can still be destroyed, looted, but not driven unless you are the driver or kill the driver and take his keys. Since vehicles reset everytime a server restarts it's not a big deal allowing ownership. Infact I think it would improve the RP experience. The lucky guy who finds the Civie Heli can now start his own post-apocalyptic enterprise. A can of Beans and a Soda could buy you a Helicopter ride to Cherno. (When Radios are implemented) Offer him a weapon and some ammo and He'll come bail you and your friends out of a Last Stand against Zombies, or Bandits. What is to stop Safe Zones from turning into Warzones? Well we already know the Automated guns smoke bandits on sight. But what about a Survivor that wants to go postal once he's inside? Well there are a few solutions. A General Box at the door which you drop your weapons in and get them back when you leave. Have a script that puts weapons on permanent safeties while inside. Or have a few Automated Guns on the inside too so whoever decides to shoot poor friendlies doesn't live long enough to enjoy his spoils. Bottom line: There shouldn't be any killing in a Safe Zone anyways, it would ruin the whole point of a Safe Zone.
  17. Dev (DayZ)

    Hacks?

none of those items or vehicles are in game. as far as shooting someone and them not dying, it COULD be hacks but often times its lag. no idea why you couldnt loot your body though.
  18. WhiteTigerShiro

    Possible fix to vehicle/tent hoarding

I don't think vehicles get saved to a player, they just exist. Tents, on the other hand, already do behave this way. When a player dies, it disappears after two days.
  19. I hate to be "that guy" again, I recently posted an incident of a server admin punishing play-styles he didn't agree with. (Check it out here if you wish http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=22367 ) Well another day, another server and today's topic is about a server admin willing to reset the entire server should anyone use barbed wire or tank traps in a way which he does not like, furthermore should any camps be discovered in the wilderness (or any vehicles for that matter) well then that also equals a server reset. SERVER NAME: BE3 Nowhere-kids Server ISSUE: Their MOTD reads " WARNING: Locking buildings with barbed wires/tank trap kits, making camps and stacking vehicules in the wilderness will lead to a map reset." I get it OK, it sucks if you cant get over barbed wire etc because you haven't found a tool box or if you are having a hard time finding that motorbike you always wanted. But all the actions this guy feels warrants a server reset are perfectly within the bounds of acceptability in terms of gameplay. Is it frustrating/annoying? Yes. Is it cheating/expoliting? No. As such, you shouldn't be punishing the entire server with a reset for this kind of behavior, its simply unacceptable. Am I the only one getting sick of entitled admins feeling they can change the rules to suit either themselves or their clans? Hosting a server does not grant you the power or permission to tell others how to play the game or restrict how they are use in-game items, that's the bottom line. To the inevitable replies of "play another server" etc. That's not the point, not at all. Its about setting a precedent, if we tolerate these kinds of admins and fail to address their "I can do what" behavior then its going to send a clear message to the rest of the server hosts, to essentially "have at it" which is why we are sometimes seeing admins pop up with an attitude something like this: "We can do as we please and treat players how we want and its fine because we paid for it, so we're entitled." There needs to be some principles upheld within the community or we're going to end up with deep fragmentation amongst the player-base and chaos across the servers, each server having a wildly different take on how YOU should be playing THEIR game. I'd be willing to bet that most of these new server hosts haven't bothered to even read the guild-lines (http://www.dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1429 ) and these kind of incidents are either the result of ignorance or lack of proper inquiry, worse still, they have read the information and simply decided to ignore it. Bah I'm going to look at pictures of puppies to take my mind off the whole debacle.

    Player levels?

"I want to be able to grief people without them shooting me" That's all I read from the OP. If this happens, I would gather everyone I know together, assign them to random people, and loot anything they ran across, block doorways, steal vehicles, hide bodies and attract zombies to them. Dumb idea and defeats the purposes of the game, A SANDBOX SURVIVAL MOD with zombies.
  21. chudeadmang

    Player levels?

The game experts aren't looting for cities for food, they're hunting and grilling and such. Likewise for drinking with canteens and bottles of water. No changes to vehicle mechanics. At any people hoarding vehicles would be a problem, in that case make vehicles unenterable/repairable by players that are in non-PvP status. The point is, full DayZ experience for full PVPers, lighter, less satisfying experience for those who opt out. Or, servers with PvP enabled and servers without.
  22. Al Bundy (DayZ)

    Player levels?

Well there's a few major flaws, there would be no absolutely no risk while griefing. Currently people doing shady stuff like blocking off indoor areas with barbed wire/tank traps have the small chance of being shot if someone catches them doing it. A pvp immune player could do it anywhere they wanted, they could even actively kill players by deploying barbed wire on them but that's also a bug that needs to be fixed anyway. Pvp immune players could also raid any major loot spawn area at absolutely no risk. Once you learn the basic zombie ai, they're a decent strech from dangerous. Pvp-enabled players would gradually starve to death since the damage immune players would be looting with impunity. You would also have damage immune players hording the limited spawn vehicles, because you're both unable to take it from them and I assume the vehicle would also be immune to damage since they opted out. Those are just off the top of my head. I'm sure other problems would immediately arise as well.
  23. Pickerd

    Banned from Dallas 22 server

I play on this server religiously. These guys are solid, fair admins. One of the few servers ive favorited. Ive looted their bases, killed them countless times, ive never had one freaking issue. Even ended up befriending them cause of how impressed i was compared to so many servers out there. If you had known what these guys have went thru in the last two weeks, with an enormous influx of exploiters, hackers, dcers, and various other fun stuff you may be singing a different tune. It's a daily occurrence to see teleporters, nukers, esp hackers, & scripters that find all vehicles and tents. Cant even have a vehicle these days cause no matter where it is, it will get found within a few hours. They've lost 20+ of their vehicles and I think 4 or so of their main bases, all the while NOT restarting their server to cheat their stuff back, or unfairly kick/ban, liek so many other poorly ran server. They suck it up as part of the fun and move on. Instead you feed into the first accusation thrown at them and start helpin the community break out the pitchforks, with no proof to boot? With admins dealing with this on a fairly constant basis, a dev asking for proof for something that is bannable, and should be a hellova lot higher on the todo list to prevent in the first place to stop for in this mod is insulting to good admins that are working their tails off to put forth a great environment. If dallas 22 goes down cause of this, im done. Im already near the end of my rope with the hacking and cheating as it is. TY for the awesome mod. I love it, but so much negativity and lack of respect being thrown around at all levels. They accused Lefty of banning them for this and that. It is on the accusers shoulders to provide burden of proof. Devs have said this themselves in this section of the forums, and I've read it time and time again. Why the sudden change of policy? You need a more structured reporting policy and submittal forums or something, because things seems to be judged by assumption. Someone accuses, must have proof. Defending side can provide counter proof, then you can judge impartially and unbiased, in an informed and adult manner. The way you are handling it right now, is non of the above, all the while on a public forum? You guys should show a little support for what these admins have been going thru trying to support this mod, and if you are oblivious to what they are facing, maybe it's time you looked into it, cause it's a freaking warzone in DayZ atm, and you set that table for them. It's players vs admins with all the admins backed into a corner feeling like the zeds being hunted, all the while trying to find the thousands of hackers, scripters, dcers ect ect. It is a no win situation for server owners. Need some more legit server owners to jump on this thread and tell you what is what. Ask them. Take a poll. Bet there isnt one that doesnt feel overly stressed trying to host a Day server right now. Your words "If he doesnt like it, he can close it, not like we are hurting for servers right now." shows what level of respect you have for them in the first place, and it sucks.
  24. NFC Angel -ll-

    Banned from Dallas 22 server

I was witness to the events and can testify on the behalf of Lefty and the Admins that run Dallas 22. I am a regular on Dallas 22, it is pretty much the only place I play. I go by the name NFC Angel -ll-. I am a 12 year member of an online gaming community called No Fear Gaming. We currently provide a public teamspeak for the players of Dallas 22. At the time all of this took place there was about 7 of us in the teamspeak that witnessed and participated in the events that led to the banning of the 37.miller guys and their friend that went by the name dontmindme. I Flipped my ATV near cherno, a regular and a member of our gaming community named Los7 -ll- came to try and help me flip it up right, but it exploded lol. After that lost headed back to where we had established a base in the tractor, and upon arriving was shot at by the members of 37.miller. Everyone was away from base at that time, so we all started to head back to base. lost and Kranoes(another regular) along with lefty made their way back to base first, and got into a firefight. Lefty and Kranoes were both killed, but before lefty got killed he lit up one of the 37.miller boys with a LMG, and before he could kill him the brat disconnected. Disco #1 After that there was no one at the base, so everyone was still scrambling to make it back to the area to defend our loot. after a couple of people died and made the run back to base, we finally ran into the 37.miller kids again. this time we had them cornered. We had Ferran, with an L85 to the north along with Oats, me to the north west, and lefty and kranoes to the south, literally boxing them in at the industrial district of Berazino. Ferran had eyes on, and lit up 2 of the 3 guys, 4 hits on one and 3 on another. So instead of turning around and fighting, all three of you disconnected like a bunch of cowards with your tails between your legs. Disco #2 3 and 4 You raided our camp - nice job, it was hidden very well. You destroyed our loot- shitty, but that is the name of the game. You blew up the vehicles - Your morons, you should have kept them. You did not get banned for anything other than being cowardly children who disconnected in a firefight, instead of standing up and taking your licks like men. It says in the server message every 10 minutes that if you disconnect during a firefight, you will get banned. This is in accordance and allowed by rocket, as disconnecting is an exploit of the game to avoid death. Furthermore, you are in no way shape or form regulars on Dallas 22. We have a group of 15 or so players that are constantly on the server. I have never seen you guys at all except for the last 2 days. I am on the game at random times, and I know who frequents our server, since I have made Dallas 22 my home. Lefty and the other admins on Dallas 22, take their role as Admins very seriously, and try and safeguard the players on Dallas 22 from Hackers exploiters, ghosters and such. They govern the players Fairly, and without bias. I am older now, and I do not tend to hang around with punk kids who troll and get their kicks off of being assholes. Lefty and the group he is with, are all Level headed mature gamers who take the game seriously, and try to keep the server held to those standards. So in closing, If you come to Dallas 22 and get into a firefight, do not disconnect until you or your adversary is dead, otherwise it will result in a ban. P.S. I do not understand the reason the moderator has banned lefty from the forums, there was no warning of misconduct. He alone pays for a server that perpetuates the livelihood of this mod, creating a safe and fair environment for like-minded players to play and enjoy the game. I am requesting on the behalf of lefty for another moderator, who is not bias, to review this thread and give ample reason as to the banning of a server admin who has up until now, had no reports of misconduct or foul play. Again, you are not a dev, you are a moderator curgon. You ask for proof, which is not in your authority to ask for, then you ban the admin because he tells you what he thinks. If this is the way the Dayz mods and Devs treat the admins who keep this game safeguarded from hackers and exploiters, then this game is doomed. You sir, have abused your powers as a moderator, and the proof is already posted in this thread.

    Storage and hording

I personally don't have an issue with people being resourceful and preparing for their eventual death. If you manage to survive long enough and gain enough decent gear, why not store it? If it makes you any happier my group have had a base both within the 20x20 limit and one outside the limit, and guess what has happened both times to us when we've acquired a good amount of gear?.... It's got stolen and we've been ambushed! From my own experience, setting up bases over time and putting so much effort into it often leads to a fairly negative consequence eventually. Just like death, the fact of the matter is... someone WILL find your base and eventually they will steal everything they can, and grief you by destroying or damaging the vehicles they can't steal! That's the beauty of this game. Even if you set up bases to restock yourself, sooner or later, someone is going to steal everything and your going to be back to square one. Regardless of how many people you team up with!
