save vehicles yo

Hey zigzagzig, I run US153 and we do restarts on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times per day. We also update to beta patch usually as soon as it's released (which requires a restart as well). This is all done in an attempt to keep the server running smoothly for all players. There have been a few instances where upon restarting the server, vehicles and tents have completely disappeared. They USUALLY come back after a second restart, but not always. Anyways, just wanted to respond to ur post and let you know what goes on. Also, we always try to give a 5 minute warning before restarts. In fact I can't remember a time where we didnt give atleast a 3-4 minute warning. I usually lock the server right after i give a warning about reboot, to prevent ppl from joining immediately before it reboots. However it is unlocked as soon as it is rebooted and does not remain locked. Let me know if you have any questions or further concerns :)

Yea we had vehicles as soon as the server was created originally. The problem came when they all vanished after a server crash/restart during the DDOSing like two weeks ago. Not the one yesterday.

Vehicles don't surive more than 7 days, if they are not used.. if you've been hording a vehicle, and can't be bothered to update the client *6* times from when you last played, then you deserve to lose it.. Also.. that's a hell of a long time for someone to wander by and just drive all your stuff away, in one easily packaged container... Lesson one : pay attention to your surroundings at all times.. this includes the software and patches.

Hey Specsniper, I'm rolling with with some of the guys you accused of hacking to steal your vehicles. It's just not the case. We routinely look on the edges of the map to find camps and vehicles, and we stole some from a camp a couple weeks ago at the NW edge of the map. Then just a few days ago we found another set of vehicles with two guys at them. I assume you were the two guys with two ATVs, a white truck, and the British Offroad at the NW edge of the map? Well, we were driving and saw the white offroad in the area so we then recon'd the area until we stumbled upon you where we stole all the vehicles. But guess what? Someone found our vehicle depot (you guys) and stole the vehicles back. Fair play. But the funny thing is, someone ELSE stole them from you - not us. So there was no warping across the map or hacking. You were spotted by some other group bro. We have absolutely no vehicles right now. And also, you grouped players together who do not play together. We don't play with Lemondish, Kyle, or LMM. Hell, we disbanded half our group because we believed someone gave our spot away allowing the vehicles to be stolen. Reading this thread it looks like we were wrong on that. By the way, when you stole all of our vehicles we weren't online and only discovered the next day. At that time we were transitioning to another server anyways because we are suspicious of bugged loot spawns on US23 - so we had been playing somewhere else mostly. Ease back on the paranoia partner.

We don't seem to have any vehicles on our new server either. It's probably been up a good week or so and no luck whatsoever. I did some reading on the forums and found two different answers, neither of which I'm sure are accurate. The first response stated that you have to have a certain string in one of your RPT files. They gave an example, but they didn't give the specific codes needed. The second response stated that the Day Z Mod Team spawns vehicles simultaneously on all servers in waves or cycles. Can someone from the Day Z team please respond to this post and shed some light on the issue? Thanks, Aldorisio

You shouldn't be punished for killing a player, in my opinion. It's the apocalypse, you do what you can to survive, you may feel guilty, but you wouldn't become a paranoid wreck because you can justify it in your own mind. Also, the screen blurring/shaking thing to simulate guilt/nervousness, is just simplifying the game too much. There are some people that exist in real life that kill just because they don't like the look of someone, and then feel absolutely nothing after doing it. I do agree on one thing, however. PvP for the sake of PvP. People who kill for fun. This wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't almost everyone doing it out of boredom. For this to be prevented, I think the zombies need to pose a much larger threat, once you've stocked on supplies, you don't even begin to think about them. So, let's face it, all there is to do is either roam around, loot more or look for vehicles, and even after that, you're gonna get bored. So, in conclusion, there needs to be more emphasis on the threat of zombies, they can be easily killed and avoided. Instead of just "Oh well, you've ran out of things to do, so you may as well go kill some newbies in Cherno." It should be "Okay, got my gear, I should be able to hold off some zombies but I can't really do it alone." Although, it as an alpha mod, so obviously things are still being added, but this is the suggestion section after all.

US245 and We have vehicles. We did have suspected hackers last night, with 3 helos in the air within 15min of each other.

i used this to get the dayz mod and every time i try and join a server it starts to join then boots me back to the lobby and puts a message up saying cannot play/edit this mission;it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.chernarus' also on start up it comes up with 2 messages one says needs CAbuilding and the othere says something about vehicles and rifle can any1 tell me y it is doing this and how i can fix it ? plz and ty

I placed a tent yesterday to move shit from my vehicles, but when I logged in this morning it was empty, and the vehicle I repaired was damaged again (the fuel tank and hull was red, but it was green before the server restarted). All of my items in the vehicles loaded properly though. Is this happening more due to the DDoS from a few days ago, or is it something 1.7.2 will fix?

Looking for a mature English speaker or two to form a DayZ group with. I currently have a repaired tractor hidden on a server and am looking to use that vehicle to repair a few other vehicles I know of that you wont find on vehicle spawn maps. Namely a truck and two atvs. Set up a base camp. Also, I'd like to farm dat equipment out of some of the more dangerous places on the map, bring it back to our camp. From there we become da DayZ badasses. If anyone is interested leave me your skype or steam name and i'll add you. i am not looking for anyone to even be good at the game, more important is that you are trustworthy and not a douche. also not looking to be your leader, just wanna stock pile some shit then have some fun with it :) must have mic.

I dont see why not, yeah, you probably won't see your neighbour with an MG on their truck, but if you look at the current rebel wars going on, they all mount weapons and whatnot on their vehicles, i would do that too if i was in such a situation

Had alot of nice equipment... Night vision, DMR. Living for 5 days and counting, usually the top of the leader boards in terms of Zeds killed. Being a loner at night - looking for any possible vehicles; ONE zombie ran up, broke my legs, knocked me unconcious, took 7k off my 12k health pool in one hit!... Shhiiiiiit. That was a learning experience. Pretty much told me not to get attached to my gear.

It can be done, but it has serious limitations, probably the best way would be using AttachTo command, but be prepared for desync and lag while your buddy drives you and you are rubberbanding all over the place. It has been done even before the introduction of that command http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1519 but again it had limitations. And you wouldn't be able to be in the vehicle because the only way to fire "something" inside a vehicle is using the vehicles weapons, so you wont be able to fire your gun, or your ammo. Maybe not the best explanation ( don't have the time ) if someone wants more info on how it can be achieved or why it cannot be, just check for the extensive threads on this subject at bis studio forum.

I've only seen mods where the passengers can shoot from the littlebird, but that's all. it would require a whole new set of vehicles I think, plus mods that would be hard to produce. but I've seen DayZ devs do other things i thought where impossible

So I stumbled across my first tent city today. They had quite a few vehicles and tents set up. I took what I wanted, and a vehicle for myself. I also moved 2 to a spot a good distance from their camp. Planning on parking them on popular roads as a present for randoms, but it was taking too long. Have you ever drove a bus through the woods? Its slower than crawling. I'm wondering what to do now. Part of me just wants to leave them alone because I probably caused them enough grief. Another part of me says screw the hoarders, this is why all the new players can never find cars. So I am going to leave it up to you. What should I do? 1. Leave them alone. 2. Post the server so bandits can have their way with the camp. 3. PM a few newbes the server and location so they can try a car. Lets hear it before I get impatient, leave my gear in my car, and drive a bus through Cherno honking at randoms.

Server this happened on: DayZ - EU 10 Time that it happened including your timezone: 14:30 UTC+0100 What happened during the incident: Well we had set up a camp where we kept all our gear, we have already helped this guy before as he is a friend of a guy i play a little with. Then we tried to ignore him as he turned out to be very little mature and acted like a real jerk. So then he is telling us that he can see our gear on the map and that he is heading our way. And he told us he was using maphack and can see camps and vehicles on the map including weapons. He showed up at exactly where our camp was. I shot him but look at this guys profile, he has hacked servers before and is using maphack as well. This is one guy you guys need to perma ban from DayZ. And look at his display name history, calling himself Hitler, Anders Breivik who killed tons of kids in my country and Obama ......... I think you need to put vehicle spawns to positive in the options or something. Man, we rented a new server and I have not seen any vehicles at all! Does the server need to be running on veteran or something?
