Well, we have a few of the better vehicles stashed. Last week a trio of hackers however teleported almost every vehicle in the game, including the ones we were using, to a plateau in the central/north of the map. How do we know they teleported them? Because all our vehicles literally vanished at the same time right in front of us, and a dude came sliding over a hill into visual range at roughly 500 meters a second. Two days later when we finally tracked the location down, they still had our gear in them. I'm not sure how much the vehicles have been moved since then. We do mark the rough location on the map when we have a full server. We don't really need the few we have, but, we'd rather keep an eye on them and donate them to a dedicated crew that is playing rather than let them sit out in the open and have a solo player blow one up and it be gone for 7 days :)

we had the same issues on people finding the vehicles, always when we logged out for an hour they would go missing, never when we were online, they just looked at the map and waited till our markers dissapear (because thats how they do it, usin cheats). We even split into small groups of 2 and parked cars all over the place but still got found, some people just hunt vehicles/camps so fair play... but alot hack, on our server i have caught some scripts already, the other scripts are detected it's just battle eye doesn't ban them immediately.

Vital Things Missing from the DayZ Apocalypse
Electrolyte posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vital Things Missing from the DayZ Apocalypse as of 1.7.1.5 Gut Animal function for dead survivors - could have unique dialog like "Gut Ex-Survivor" in case the spiritual want to feel special during an apocalypse. Without this option shooting humans is a huge waste of ammo, but then the mod currently supplies far too much weaponry so it's not so much of a waste yet (see next missing thing). Heavily protected ammo spawns for upper tier weapons including sniper rifles, as in surrounded by massive hordes of infected. These spawns should 100% require ammo expenditure in order to gain, your skill and luck determines if you come out ahead (or dead) and not your ability to run endlessly to the northern rim. Centralized locations that everyone can access where the best weapons and ammo spawn, not in the furthest northern corners of the map where you physically cannot go as a new spawn without making an hour trek on foot. Scarier is the fellow with nothing but a hatchet and some real needs than some kid snuggling his sniper rifle in a bush sitting on a stockpile of gear (does anyone really want it to be this way other than those kids?). Server-hopper warning system. When someone spawns in, have them announced with a flatulent explosion or some other noise that aggro's infected on the level of the Enfield. "Hi I'm server hopping to take your loot that you just scouted for 10 minutes! Wait the whole town isn't supposed to be chasing me, this is supposed to be free loot and murders 24/7!" Chaos for all and not just the people playing DayZ as a survival sim. This idea of clans and camps and tent cities and people building bases and circle-jerking off the map is the stuff of WoW and other facebook/social apps and elderly-friendly games. The people who hoarded a bunch of gear and stashed it in the middle of nowhere should be no safer than the fellow with the hatchet running through Cherno. This means: roaming infected hordes in perma-sprint mode hordes that can detect far off camps infected capable of ravaging camps and destroying supplies infected that can quickly dismantle vehicles and their owners moving or not random wall-hacking infected, they were way scarier than the current breed infected that focus targets instead of easily splitting aggro infected that "call for help" across towns and not just screaming at the nearby ones random infected that never lose aggro infected that devour livestock infected that randomly come back to life random infected that won't die no matter what you do to them fire - lots and lots of fire plagues rancid food contaminated lakes chemical leaks from retired machinery bears, hungry bears with thick hide (what does an eastern euro fear more?) rabid dogs and dog packs that are much smarter and faster than infected vehicles that randomly break down without reason rain storms that last for days that cause pneumonia heat waves that accelerate dehydration illness that causes dehydration disease that causes blindness or loss of eyesight requiring corrective glasses exhaustion that requires unburdening of gear in order to maintain movement speed broken arms that have an effect hallucinations that cause survivors to look like infected, and vice-versa and more.... And finally, DayZ needs someone who can decide if the mod is about surviving during a zombie apocalypse or rebuilding after the apocalypse. If it is supposed to be occurring during the apocalypse, then all masturbatory behaviors should be punished severely and any notion of an evolving meta-game should be eradicated immediately (it should play like the first two hours of Fallout 3, the part where you happily welcome any roach meat you get your grubby hands on). If it is about surviving after the apocalypse, a lot more social functions are going to be needed before DayZ ever represents that scenario and that's not what this post is about (aka the post-first-two-hours of Fallout 3 where you shift loot around in your pack and chitchat all day). Please disregard everything above if this is about rebuilding after an apocalypse, and please re-label the mod as such so I don't have to write any more posts. TLDR: Please make DayZ about surviving during an apocalypse, or re-brand it as something like "The Sims: Zombie Edition" with cool emotes like the Macarena and floating hearts over the heads of survivors when they would like to express their friendliness to others. -
Just so everyone knows, we DO have vehicles spawns!

vehicles not spawning anymore?
ynefel replied to sakage (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Similar issues here. Had vehicles on our server since it first went live about a month ago - since getting it back up and running yesterday, post-DDoS maintenance, our existing vehicles are gone. (Tents as well, but that's not such a great mystery - it happens) Myself and 2 others have scouted all known vehicle spawns on the server and have not encountered a single vehicle - not even a bicycle. My question is more what's causing it. It sucks not having vehicles, but I'm sure I'll survive. I always thought vehicles were stored/maintained locally, but in the wake of hive maintenance, the vehicle issues seem to have presented themselves, so I'm guessing that's not the case. Not complaining, by the way. If it's a known/explainable issue, that's fine - just looking for some more info, I guess. -
We know that this idea has been done time and time again, and it's usually done badly, or awkwardly implemented. We all know that the current state of the game doesn't really encourage cooperation very much. If we look at a historical context, civilization didn't really start to advance until there was specialization. There were two main reasons that I came up with this idea: 1) working together in day z as compared to real life, is much less rewarding than it would actually be. The "shoot everyone" playstyle is where it should be, and I don't want to make that less effective. 2) It's patently ridiculous that the average survivor would be able to efficiently butcher an animal, do a blood transfusion, and do advanced vehicle repairs. Here's what I propose each player can choose from at start: Hunter- this background choice lets the player start with a hunting knife and can acquire double the meat from animals. Nice start for most lone wolves, and a supply of cooked meat is always valuable. Medic- this background starts with a suture kit (new item, like a bandage medics can only use on other people), is the ONLY background that can administer blood packs, and can combine two bandages and a pile of wood to create a splint, that is an other-only form of morphine medics can use. Mechanic- this background starts with a toolbox, and is the ONLY background that can repair a helicopter rotor or replace a windshield. In addition, they are able to provide upgrades to vehicles by using more parts. For example, using more engine parts allows them to make the vehicle faster. More metal scraps give it more damage resistance, fuel tank parts can expand the fuel tank, and tires can be used to double tire health. (This would be the most difficult of the three to code in) The goal was to make people, especially end-game, less able to do everything without anyone feeling like something was taken away. Like I said, I know this has been done before, but I wanted to make something simple and most people should look at one of these three and see something they want.

vehicles not spawning anymore?
Denuth replied to sakage (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I have vehicles on my server, one of which is spawning to frequently...and its buggy. The small boat.. I blew it up 2 days ago and its back, so I hopped in it for shits and gigs and hoped up shortly afterward...the throttle or something stuck and it took off on its own adventure eventually i'm assuming, running out of gas in the middle of the ocean. Was a great distraction for those on the coast though. -
My server is just a few days old and I found a rotor assembly today. No vehicles yet though.

Well it could be pure coincidence that you guys found us because we relocated to the north east of the map when we finally got all our vehicles back. We had the Ural , S1203 , V3S , Offroad , UAZ , Tractor , 6 Atv's , The pickup and and Dirt Bike. We found every vehicle on the server and had them for quite some time. Then they started getting found 1 by 1 so we decided to move and we literarly moved the vehicles to every single location on the map only to have them found by the same group of people. Every day we would lose more vehicles after we would search for about 2 weeks to try to get them until we stumbled on the camp that had every vehicle we took. It was at the Southwest of the map we just got everything back were really happy and knew we were going to be found so we went NE only to be found right as we got to the spot. We also shot out bus tires of there only vehicle they had left and we saw a bus where we were so we assumed that people teleported in the bus with no wheels lol. Either way it was a different group of people we were accusing the people south west of vehicle finding scripts because they did take every vehicle no matter where we moved too. The funny thing is you guys have to ease up on your paranoia too by accusing half of your squad. There seemed to be alot of "pure coincidence" after most of our cars were taken. I understand when we found every single vehicle fixed em up and brought them there we had about a dozen of vehicles and can easily be found. I was regarding after atvs started getting stolen from trees spread across a 10k radius and vehicles hidden so carefully keep getting found afterwards. Either way I hope you can understand the paranoia coming from the fact that when we actually recovered each vehicle one by one on the map we never had any opposition. The mere fact that we were found at SW , W , NW , N , NE and E every single day for 2 weeks just felt way too sketch. Feel free to add my steam name SpecSniper if you want to discuss this more and get to the bottom of it.

The map ends when you stop seeing grass, mostly rolling hills with a dirt texture, like the debug plains. And yes, it would be much much better if tents/vehicles can't save off the map :/

Removing stuff off-map
40ozcasualty replied to WalkerDown (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree. Something needs to be done about the hoarding. I think vehicles that have left there spawn area should re-spawn after an hour or so of inactivity. Keep the vehicles spawning around the towns/cities and give EVERYONE a fair chance to use them. -
Off map is the area where nothing is programmed into the game but can still be walked into or driven into. It contains only featureless hills with no trees or even grass. And I agree that nothing should be allowed to be saved off map. This is why it is so hard to find vehicles on most servers, groups have moved all of the vehicles a few miles outside of the play area to horde them.

at least 4. they reet on server restarts. we farmed them for a while till we had ammo and guns comming out our eyeballs. then lost everything to vehicles eating items and a hacker stealing our truck.
-
There are "extra" tires parts to repair, it's kind of a bug/unfinished thing. Some vehicles have more than 4 tires and need those repaired, others, that use four wheels, will still have the middle repair tires options, which you can safely ignore, as they do nothing. As long as the front and back wheels (on the scroll wheel menu) are repaired, you can drive your vehicle. Your fine, long as you see visible tires on each spot, your good.

Daddy, what did you do before the zombies came? Professions
gears1992 replied to darklynx's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I feel like weapons are something that you should "improve per use" shouldn't be skill trees, or unlocking anything really special that doesn't really make sense, nothing to make it unrealistic. They should do "weapon leveling" like its done in "Red Orchestra 2" nothing fancy, nothing "special" just over time you get a little bit better. Thats the best way to keep it fair while still putting it in the game. The players who get it high enough kind of "deserve" (use that lightly) to have such improved skills. Perhaps even take a D&D style to it. With just physical attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution) that are randomly generated depending on the profession you choose and it give you a small handful like 5 points to add to anywhere you want. And as your progress through the game you get a little bit better at each attribute as you "use" them. Doctor: Can heal nearby players with the proper items and as you progress with it, you can do more with less. And possibly not exactly the right kind of equipment. Soldier: "Jack of all trades" is just OK at everything but "levels up" at a slower rate. But also starts out with slightly bit better weapons skills. Engineer: Can repair weapons, and vehicles and eventually become "Master Jerry-Riggers" that can fix a busted motor with nothing more then bubble gum and ducktape. Chef: Can fix food that is more filling, last more then 1 meal, and that can provide some benefits possibly. Natural Leader: This would be a some what selfless role, your skills all start lower then the other classes, so the start of the game would be more difficult then it already would be. But you "inspire" the people around you. They find that they do a better job at the things they are doing and learn more from their own work while around you. (I see a few flaws with it as I am sure many of you do as well. "Inspire" the person trying to kill you? 2 Natural leaders boosting each other to almost cancel out the negative?) -
My clan had that problem, but we decided to go around fixing up as many vehicles as we can and build a Base of Operations etc or our snipers/spotters like to go off to towns/cities to murder people. But they are easier to achieve if you have a group/clan where as it sounds like you're alone?

You look for even more satisfying equipment. Get NVGs, rangefinders, GPS, frags, coyote pack, ghille or camo depending on your liking, get a good close range gun that two shots a player and keep a high powered sniper in your backpack such as the M107 or AS50. Find an m9 SD and ammo for a good sidearm but make sure you head shot since its weak. Find the perfect inventory setup that will support your needs perfectly in any possible situation. After that find a server with vehicle spawns and find the one that suits you best. Fix it up, get it running, repair all the windows because they block bullets from certain guns, and so on. Get a tent or two and fill it with everything that you need to fix another vehicle and to survive without that one and keep stuff in the vehicle as well. Due to DayZ being an alpha the tents and vehicles like to vanish, so make sure you can live in the vehicle without the tent and fix another vehicle if you lose the vehicle, and always keep your inventory good enough that if all should fail and you lose both then you can survive. After that it is up to you to find something to do. Do you want to find an M136 anti tank rocket launcher? Collect vehicles? Kill yourself and start over, possibly choosing a new play style to challenge yourself and liven things up? Also find friends to play with. The game takes on a lot more when doing rescue missions in your car, fighting snipers in cherno with them while you try to get out safely, defending them from a hoard of zombies that just don't seem to ever stop because your ally's legs are broken and you both are out of morphine. Its a sandbox game and you do what you want in the end, but those are my recommendations to keep you going for a while and provide some good entertainment.

We are normally in our vehicles when we happen upon camps, so we load up what we want and drive over the tents. As for blowing up vehicles, they do not currently respawn by themselves properly.....Ander spawns them in from the database every now and then. So blowing them up screws over every single person that ever goes to that server, not just the people that had them.

Because it tries to be a game, but with super-realistic influences. And while the devvers tried paying attention to the numerical correctness of the bullet drop, damage of the caliber and speed of vehicles, it's just generally not a nice game to play or a nice engine to play in. The context menu is on a user-based experience so far from quick and good gameplay, I highly doubt they even have taken a look at it. Another thing is how the zombies jump around after being triggered, because of the client taking over the pathing to reduce server lag, it creates such a glitchy experience, it's completely ripping someone out of his immersion. Same as zombies going around buildings. Just a grasp of so many bugs it doesn't make Arma2 itself a nice "game" at all. And half-assed simulator since it can't never be as good as a dedicated simulator, rather than a game. (And I must say, from all the numerical correctness, I've got to say a heli flies REALLY unrealistically. You can wiggle all back and forth without noticing this in the flying path. Rather ridicioulous, DICE seems to be better in achieving that in their battlefield series.) Again, as a disclaimer for people reading this post for the first time, IT'S MY PERSONAL VIEW ON THIS, YOU CAN THINK THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Feel free to like it yourself, I won't harass or blame you for that as well. Disclaimer for the disclaimer: I'm getting very careful on expressing personal opinions on public boards :P Arma 2 is an infantry sim for the most part. The armor and aircraft are not meant to be accurate simulations. Arma 2 is based on an actual mil sim that the army uses. Not sure how much you've played it, but it really takes an effort to appreciate the quality of arma as apposed to the typical fps out there.

Meh rarely see any vehicles EVER, don't think giving me it's location is gonna stop the hoarders from taking them off the map. Thanks anyways. -

Oh, we've found at least 3 vehicles not on any spawn map. A Ural in the North, a car in the West, and a UAZ in the middle. -
In Arma we are able to use Clan tag or squad markers on uniforms and vehicles. Would it be possible to implement this feature when erecting tents?

Day Z endgame suggestion (Warning: long post)
LeOverlord replied to oebus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I really only like the part about reclaiming some civilization. Currently I am trying to get a hold of a vehicle so I can gather up as many tents, tank traps, and barbed wire as possible. So I can build an artificial town. Then I want to recruit new players, and old, to guard and populate my town. And continue on from there, finding more vehicles, spitting the town into hunting parties and looting parties. Yes, and have a small group of people with high tier equipment that could protect and react to problems that arise, be it bandits or zombie rescue. Is my dream ambitious? Yes, but will it happen? Your damn right it will
