    spence0892 Ban Appeal

I had Cheat Engine on at the time, I was in SuperPowers in Chernarus with my friend Matty, who also plays the game. I was spawning myself guns and vehicles, I deleted the scripts and script folder however before changing to Day Z, but like an idiot, I left Cheat Engine up >.>. I am going to have to ask the server admin for US 10 Chicago to help me out specifically lol. Please do not comment calling me a hacker etc. I use it for non offline games so as not to interrupt online integrity and immersion, not to mention BattlEye has a say in it too :P. - spence0892 Thank you for your replies by the way guys, really helpful. If you want to check out me and my friends team(when and if i get back to us 10 chicago) we are a decent team. We recently had to start over due to heavy losses but we are back on track. spence0892 Ad-Man, Matty, Jazz, P-Rock, Camo.

    U Jelly? Showoff your Hording!

Thread needs more pics. Also, if I had those vehicles, I would no sequester them in my camp, I would be using them to run down survivors and raid cities. Show off my awesome power and display my might to my rivals. Riskier? Definitely. But more rewarding. ;)

is the luck about to run out...

Totally a casual gamer and yes i do play about 2 hours a day. Like i said i never really set out to be a bandit and sure maybe im not one im not really bothered, just posted it here since it was my little story about killing other players, that is what you bandits do right? A lot of the gear i have such as the LA85 i actually stole from a bunch of vehicles that were being hoarded by some players a while back, got lucky and came across them parked in a field near the northern most town. 5 vehicles all totally loaded with weapons and gear, stole and crashed 2, took a 3rd which got blown up 2 seconds after i bailed out(almost didnt survive that one). The other 2 cars were moved by the time i got back there. If i were smart i would have taken them to keep for myself but i find vehicles more hassle for lone players like myself, thats just my opinion though. My overall approach to this game is one of taking it nice and slow, be patient, gather up a few bits of equipment here and there so when i die i can re-equip easily then once im happy with what i have i can start focusing more on the hunting/camping/killing. Im never gonna be some bad ass gunman that roams electro butchering survivors in their hundreds but i am going to have fun my way and hopefully kill a few more people.
  4. AKA - Mage (who is a known script kiddy/ hacker) had his friend spawn in a bunch of vehicles and weapons on a map.

    Removing stuff off-map

I'd voice against a kill timer on invisible walls. My vote is on hiding the save option from vehicles/tents when they are off-map.
  6. Well today in my group of 3,we found the off-road pickup and were seperated from the third guy, the server had a rollback so we went far back on the way to our friend and we started driving there and see a tractor! So we feel pretty set with these vehicles and boom on the other side of the lake we see a van,so we ditch it all for this thing, and pickup our friend. We give him the only GPS left and he starts driving. We are going to start looking for some heli sites and BOOM,my friend 90 degrees and hits a tree head on while the others in vehicle were looking at maps. Luckily we all lived(oddly enough the player in the back of the car took the most damage being in the back he got to 600 blood). The van despawns and we are stuck in the middle of no-where headings towards the factory.
  7. Around 3 days ago I was playing on NY68 and we come across a huge tent camp. At the camp there are also many vehicles stashed. We decide to steal a lot of things and load it into the offroad. I was messing around with some grenades I found and accidently killed my friend. After that I was loading up the jeep when I suddenly hear gunshots. I start to run away but I'm hit in the leg. With my legs broken I turn around and see the guy crouching at a tree in the distance. I unload probably 15 rounds of my fal at him and I hear the shooting stop. I'm bleeding and about to die so i use this time to eat a cooked meat and bandage myself. After I'm no longer dieing I take the time to shoot in his direction some more even though I can no longer see him. I shoot at the brush he was standing by. After about 10 or more shots I see a message that somebody has died. Right after I get a message saying you have been kicked. I come back and I have shock for 5 minutes. I get back up and eat the meat from one of the tents to heal up and use morphine. I get in the offroad and drive away. 2 minutes later I see another message saying I have been kicked. Now I get kicked every time I join the server so I assume that I'm banned. I don't know the admins name because he never said anything to me. I wasn't recording or anything because I didnt think I would have problems with admin abuse. Can the admins please come forward and unban me?

    Removing stuff off-map

+1. Ideally, tents and vehicles should simply not save off map. Failing that, a 30 second kill timer if you cross the map threshold.

    NVG's

Problem? My as50 hasn't failed me once' date=' nothing I shoot gets back up, I've taken out clans with it, plus vehicles no longer mean anything to my as50 [/quote'] Nono, i have nothing agains't it personally, i simply don't like the gun as a whole. To much jumping while doing rapid sniping on it. It's a decent gun as a whole, just to bad you will never be able to use the max zeroing on it.. Server's are maxed at 1500 meters as far as i recall :/

    vehicles not spawning anymore?

there's only like ~20 land vehicle spawns on the map. if they manage to find everything, and in accordance to rockets rules, move them on a daily basis, then yes, no other vehicles will spawn, as they are all working and in use. so you will need to destroy them. though in the cleanup thread somewhere they mention that new vehicles, if they are destroyed, will "respawn" where they are currently located. so if you screw up your car, as long as you have parts when the server resets you can fix it right away wherever you left it.

    Item Legitimacy Thread

If there is an actual list thread I have yet to see it, but will search in a bit to bump it to the first page. As for this thread though, RGO grenades are not legit and are obtained from dead NPC soldiers that were spawned in or the vehicles they were driving. Radios however, despite being extremely rare and only having one spawn location that I know about, are legit. They do absolutely nothing however right now other than entertain/annoy you with the sounds that it makes.
  13. Pantheons (DayZ)

    Pantheons Towing Service

Greetings Survivors and Bandits alike. I'm Pantheons. I'm offering my services to help liberate those vehicles which are downtrodden and wasting away in the far north. Don't you feel sad for that poor v3s, or UAZ rusting away in the land without trees? I do! So I've made it my duty to roam those wastelands liberating the vehicles found and returning them to auto shops in Chernaurs. Let's stop the wasteful littering of the northern lands!
  14. Is there any other good places apart from the tents? Also, there's this car that looks drivable, but I can't get in it? ALSO, any vehicles of note in Stary? Thanks!
  15. I Always try to have a tent with map, comp, knife, axe etc but with no high grade stuff in it. Average life is maybe 5-8 days longest is 15 days with about 110+hrs in-game play I never go Cherno or Electro or NWair to gear up and wont untill server hopping is fixed. Too many players using the hop as a cheat. If I have a tent with gear. When I die I make a direct run to the tent to gear up. Once I have the basics map, comp, knife, axe, bottles and pistol I will then start Restocking the tent. Looking for crashed choppers for better weapons. Once I have better weapons I will start hunting vehicles. My end game atm is finding a good vehicle then picking up respawned players along the coast and helping them. This normally involves me getting shot. Then the process starts again. But the one or two guys you help and the sound of gratitude you hear over direct coms, more than makes up for the people who kill me for no reason other than I have something they cant get without killing someone.
  16. My current character was 19days old when I logged in last night. The death that started the new character wasn't even a proper death...was me accidentaly clicking on respawn instead of options. There was no confirmation so I lost all my stuff there and then. But it didn't take me long to get the stuff I wanted. Straight away I went to the military tents in Cherno, I managed to grab myself an M4A1 with a couple of mags. That did me for now. I headed to Berezino, stopping off on a few deer stands and small villages on the way, picking up a sidearm, food and water to make the journey. I hit the diner in Berezino, then quickly did super market and hospital, picking up an Alice Pack and a ton of medical supplies. The rest of my gear has come from sticking with my buddies, raiding crashed heli's, other peoples tents and vehicles. I've got everything I now need and more, and our group is kitted out for near enough any situation. Found best way is stay in a group, stay quiet, stay hidden. Be patient till you have the firepower you need. Then you can be a little bit more aggressive.

    Why do you murder?

It's the only thing that brings variety and gets the adrenaline going. So you have a gun, ammo, water bottles, knife/hatchett/matches. What's left? You can survive in the woods pretty much forever, but that's boring. You can hoard gear until you have 20 tents with spares of every gun in the game and all the vehicles in the server. Sounds pretty boring, and the looting spots are nearly always the same, except for PVP interactions. Or you can hunt other players and avoid getting killed by them. This brings the most variety. Each engagement will be different, and you run the greatest risks. Even if/when some end-game content gets added, you can bet the most fun of it will revolve around PVP.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

@Distinction. Thanks for the response, I didn't know that, I'll now be collecting tin cans and piling them outside of building :) Even if there was on option to turn PvP off I wouldn't do it. I've met friendly players on the DayZ servers, I've met griefers as well. I like the fear that comes from knowing another player is near you and that you can't trust them, I like the feeling I get knowing that another person could be near and at any moment I could hear popping sounds and game over. I've also had those players who run up to me saying 'friendly, friendly' then proceed to shoot/axe me in the face when I turn away - annoying? Yes but that's real life for you, some people are douchebags but again that's what gives me the fear in this game; I don't want to die and lose all my progress, I don't want to murder either but I can't trust unknown players, so anyone I see in the woods or anywhere near my tents and vehicles is getting it between the eyes :) Please do not ever implement a 'PvP off' option and take this adrenaline rush away, name another game that gives you the same feeling of when you've just found NV googles but then hear gunfire close by?

    A QUESTION ABOUT GEAR

Umm Safe wouldn't be a term i would use you can store gear in tents and vehicles but they can be found by other players. And as of late there have been a lot of hackers going around using map hacks or spawning in helicopters to find out where people's camps are
  21. Hi everyone, I just had a few thoughts about this. Say you're in the wilderness, in that secret little spot you hide your tents or vehicles so no one can find them. The nearest town is a few kilometers away, the nearest pond is even further, and you just emptied your last canteen. If this were the real world, would you run two kilometers to a town filled with horrible flesheating monsters and bloodthirsty gunslingers, just to put some water in your little plastic bottle? I wouldn't. A few alternatives that could be contemplated: -Catching rainwater. If one were to put up a funnel and an empty canteen in an open field, you would gradually fill it with rainwater if it rained. It wouldn't be instantaneous like filling from a pump or pond, but you wouldn't need to go anywhere special to do it. Just make sure your rig has a clear view to the sky, and the next time the server has a rainstorm, it would start to fill up. It would work a lot like a tent, in that you would have to check on it regularly, and other players could walk off with it if you didn't. - Boiling/evaporating seawater. As we know, it's bad to drink seawater. It dehydrates you and gives you all sorts of problems. But if you've ever done any studying of survival techniques, you'd know you can separate the H20 from everything else. By boiling seawater, or just leaving it out in the sun, you cause the water to turn into vapor and drift away from the now-crystallized salt and contaminants. If you put a plastic sheet or something similar over it, that will cause the water to recondense as pure, drinkable water. You'd have to have access to seawater, but that's somewhat common in the nation of Chernarus, isn't it? I've checked the forum history, and I haven't seen these debated in any extensive discussion, and I don't think it falls in any of the typical "taboo" subjects. It's up to the community to determine whether or not the idea has enough value to be considered.
  22. Why it's a good idea: 1: Crowbar sucks (should need 2-3 hits to kill), but you can kill the occasional zombie 2: If noobs die, it's instant feedback that they're doing something wrong (like taking on too many zombies) 3: You cannot kill other players that are beyond talking distance and you have no incentive to kill other players (he only has a crowbar/bandage like you do) 4: The crowbar symbolizes any sort of crappy metal rod or plank or tool you'd find in any shed, so it's realistic. Why no-weapon is a bad idea: 1: Only certain buildings are enterable and have loot, but new players have no way of knowing this, so they'll attract zombies without finding loot where they in real life, intuitively, would find something. This will lead new players to blame the game for their failure. 2: Once they have a zombie on them, it's intuitive to run. New players will end up running forever, since shaking zombies isn't really intuitive. (leading them through a building that they don't know where to find) If they die swinging a crowbar, they'll know it's their own fault. Or they can kill the zombie, learn from the mistake and try again. It allows for some margin of error instead of simply encouraging a respawn. 3: Experienced players are not challenged by lack of a starter weapon. All you need to do is respawn until you end up in cherno, elektro, or balota and then run (no stealth needed) and check all buildings until you find a weapon. That's it. Thus no weapon doesn't really add anything to the game, it just makes it unnecessarily mean towards new players. EDIT: I know some fanboy will go ad-hominem, so: I've survived over a week now, I can find a weapon in less than 5 minutes from spawn, I have an L85A2, Coyote BP, NVGs and 3 vehicles.

    vehicles not spawning anymore?

I have had a server since the day the new support system rolled out. I have been wondering the same things as all of you, mostly due to my server being first setup during the DDoS attacks the Master DB was getting. Tonight though all my worries that vehicles were never going to spawn went away. I found the Bus in Cherno and repaired the 3 wheels, repaired the engine, and gathered up 2 Jerry cans to juice her up. So my suggestion to anyone else running a fairly new server, or even an older server, to maybe give it a little more time and see if a vehicle happens to pop up. There is also a sweet new support ticket system in place to address your server woes, if you feel there is still a problem and need to do something to fix it.

    Database cleanup [2012-07-03]

DayZ noob here but I just have to put my two cents in. I've only been playing this game for just over a week but I'm lucky enough to have gotten into it with a couple of friends. We now have survival skills, 4 tents a bunch of vehicles, decent weapons and an intense hatred of other players. Like everyone else on this thread we have suffered with item deletion, tents going haywire, vehicles disappearing and bugging and just general issues you'd expect from a game currently in alpha. My friend has OCD and so just had to make sure we had a fresh tent setup for all of our high value weapons and ammo, sod's law, this was the tent whose contents vanished yesterday, not the one with our blood and food, but all the bloody weapons :) Still no complaints. Keep working on this game, it's awesome, can't tell you how much we are enjoying it, havent stayed up untill 6:30am on a game in years. Our Gaz disappeared yesterday, our weapon tent was wiped, a tractor blew up killing one of us and then I flipped an ATV which caught fire on me immediately; we stole a car from a rival camp, then wrecked their camp for being too close to ours, a guy spawned in the car we stole and we killed the poor bastard. The only thing I'm concerned about is the item deletion, silenced weapons and NV googles take too much effort to aquire only to have them get erased, that aside this game rocks.
