The tent and vehicle gear storage is a great idea but isn't reliable enough right now. If anyone else has tips or tricks on how to keep items in their vehicles, post it. Hey, more stuff to steal :). I haven't had a chance to test mavericks tent theory. -
Tent and Vehicle Storage - How not to glitch?

Does anyone have information on what I'm doing wrong with storing gear in a vehicle or tent? Or are they glitched to all hell? First experience - placed a tent on the ground and moved it three times. Placed items in the tent and saved the tent. Come back 6 hours later and there is a tent in each spot I put down. All the items are gone and I can't pack any tent up. Second experience - I thought, maybe it was because I moved the tent multiple times it glitched. I placed this new tent in one spot and saved my items in it. All the items were gone but I could pack this tent up. This sounds like I got jacked but I doubt it. Third Experience - Vehicle - stored the items in the vehicle (nothing of significance). Come back the next day and all the items were gone. Someone would have jacked the vehicle if it was a robbing. Every time I interact with a tent or vehicle I save it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here or it's bugged... I've read a few other threads about the tents being bugged. This is what I don't get, I finally found tents to raid. They had lots of top end gear in their atv and tents. Is there a trick on getting vehicles and tents to work properly? Thanks!!! -

[/quote'] Plenty of people in this thread calling for players not to be able to store gear and vehicles AT ALL, regardless of map bounds. Once you die you respawn along with all the gear you hid, etc. That is bullshit. -
LU19 - Admin kicks then locks server

I signed up to tell one more case. Me and my guild played on this server for a few days. About 20-30 minutes ago, one of my Guild-Mates noticed, that all of our vehicles and tents disappeared. He also told me from a Admin-Message/Question something said like "Its all okay now?". I stayed next to the vehicle when this happened, but tabbed to desktop to read Wiki an look up something. So the Server didnt restart. We also had floyD on this server! The "Admin". Told us hes reachable/contactable over chat (vehicle/direct communication/etc.). He didnt answer. We wanted to play on this server for longer. Now all of our things are gone. What happened?! Fix it or this should have consequences. Sorry, english is not my mother language. EDIT: Tents and vehicles seems to replaced. Thanks. What happened? -
I feel like the luckiest man alive when I find fully functional vehicles :D Never driving a helicopter again though :)

They hit us again, this afternoon. This time they spawned satchel charges, EVERYWHERE! Everything was blown up. All tents, vehicles, everything. This needs to stop now. DayZ developers, we need some hot fixes to correct these hacking problems!

The shorter the off-map timer reset is, the better imo! Ofc down to a reasonable degree but since there are no valid reasons to camp off-map or store anything there OR park vehicles there, I think the timer should be very short. 24 hours is ridiculosly long, 4-6 hours is MORE than enough. -

hopefully illegal vehicles will also disappear in this sweep. There were a couple choppers flying around the other day in our server... not cool. -
NY7 admin just killed half of the server

We just had our whole group killed by a hacker on NY7, he's been ejecting everyone out of vehicles, random explosions killing everyone. A UAV tried to kill us last night, here is a video of it. This is my first time being killed by a hacker... ughh. -

Because Arma2 has a terrible context menu system that is totally realistic and immersive, the only way I could get the repair fuel tank option to show up on the Ural that I had found and painstakingly shuttled parts to while dodging zombies and surviving bandit attacks was to crawl directly underneath the vehicle. Not remembering that this would cause the vehicle to jump in a fit of joy, as all vehicles do when they are repaired, it lead to my death as 16 tons of soviet truck slammed down on my character with a joyful squeak from the suspension. So much for my M107, Bizon SD, NVGs, M136, and whatever else I had in the truck/on my body. Glitchy physics, terrible AI (the zombies are pathetic), plus rampant hacking means I'm done with this mod for the foreseeable future. Pretty much the same reasons I stopped playing Arma 2 also, now that I think about it. (I've actually had an A-10 destroyed by its own missile clipping into the wing immediately as it launched). Inb4 'its alpha' 'don't let the door hit you on the way out' and other cliche condescending comments. These are the same issues that prevent vanilla ARMA 2 from becoming a more widely played game. Glitchy physics, AI that flips between retarded and godlike (try ordering a squadron of tanks to do anything and watch the hilarity that ensues, or watch militia always hit the barrel of your tank with RPGs), and hackers. Its too bad because I really like the concept of this game.. ARMA 2 is just not a good platform to run it on. -
Jet Skis, Boat Hitches, +New Vehicle Ideas

I don't really see Chernarus having golf carts and dune buggies, but vehicles hitches and jet skis would be great. Additionally i would like to suggest that small boats go more than 14 kmh at top speed. -

Do not understimate these guys nerdish capabilities.. i've seen crazy things dones by "pro" videogamers (as they call themself) to maintain their "pro" status (like literally PAYING PEOPLE to farm for them.. and stuff like that). I would say that if someone is crazy enough to login every 6 hours to do such things' date=' i feel so bad for him to leaves he hiding the vehicles... but i would prefer to see a definitive solution: 1 hour cleanup should discourage even the most "dedicate" exploiter (maybe?). My opinion is that you shouldn't go there at all... but i understand that there might be technical limit to prevent it, so 1h would works better (or even do not save at all the position in the DB while you're off-map is even better). [/quote'] Alternatively, people can just gather 10 friends, or make friends with 10 strangers (like i did) and hoard vehicles and weapons through hard work and dedication... Why is everyone so against this? -
As Lith mentions, it can take a few days for the vehicles to appear, and there's nothing you can do to speed up that process, unfortunately.

This is funny, because you assume that all of the vehicles belonged to one group, when there is no single 'TG' group. In any case, I was the one who killed whoever was firing off randomly with the Saw. The hive was down that day and kept resetting, and unfortunately the server crashed 10 seconds after I popped you. You guys have no idea what you're doing lol. edit: the only player who had power to restart the server was on the other side of the map, playing with a different group, and not only would he not give a shit about a bus (like anyone does), it is strongly against his or any of TG's code of ethics to restart a server to gain back any lost gear. Also the player you shot is not affiliated with TG nor was it his fault for disconnecting. Everyone was having connection issues that day and it was difficult to even get into the server in the first place. -

I have a problem where i get small lag spikes at certain times, examples include but are not limited to: "Sometimes turning rapidly, being chased by shit tons of zombies, in moving vehicles, entering and moving through towns and cities." For other reasons, i am running on low video settings, so lowering those inst an option. This is my system specs: Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium--Dell System Model: Inspiron N5110 Processor: Intel® Core i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz, Dual Core Installed RAM: 6.00 GB Total Virtual Memory: 11.8 GB Display Device: Intel® HD Graphics Family Other than small lag spikes it is running great, but i was wondering if it was possible to get rid of this small but annoying problem. Thanks!

Not sure if this has been brought up already but why dont you just put a 15 second timer or something that kills you/destroys vehicles when your off the map? I know there are warfare maps with this option. -
You act like being an admin gives them an advantage here... anyone can horde vehicles.

The six-hour limit is worth testing out, though it may be too short it my opinion. One possible development from this change is that since tires and parts will be needed more often, organized groups will naturally want to have at least a small stockpile of those parts in reserve, and essentially have escorted 'pit crews' that will try and pounce and repair vehicles ASAP upon discovery. Will vehicle parts become more rare due to this? Perhaps, but the idea of an armed 'pit crew' appearing from the woods, fixing a car, and killing zeds/attacking survivors and driving off does seem kind of fun. -

Oh well, that's better then. We feared that our theft was against a poor soul storing his findings inside the tractor; I can say that the tractor was a bit hard to spot, I was really lucky to spot it while running randomly with pod/roberto podeira. We are totally newbe in terms of hiding vehicles so, for now, we have some sort of new objective. Anyway, I never used a M4 Holo, thanks for the leftover About the vehicles issue, I understand we're just unlucky but sometimes it's sad to not being able to ride everywhere with your mate in a car because of the limitations. I noticed those threads too, it's good that the dev team is working on this matter. Maybe in the next days we will see more vehicles all around... I hope. -

This has been updated -> Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06] Vehicles that remain unused for a short period of time (<=24h) outside map boundary now respawns inside map boundary at their original chance based spawn points. the entire thread is here = http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=29123 2. And also this with destroyed vehicles = - Destroyed vehicles respawned using the simple method (will appear on next server restart).
