Obviously disconnecting is an easy way to get out of dangerous situations and keep all of the loot one has just yanked. even less consequence.. i just killed random dude now i am on different server he can't even get revenge if he tries... ultimate burn. feels so good to be a doosh for all those kids that get picked on at school. Yes i understand that anyone bandit or survivor can do that.. the current balsance encourages people to do this to try and balance it out. spend hours and hours only to be killed by some such person.. Anyways sorry about the rage.. Here's a possible solution to reduce DMing on the servers: Maybe Bandit bullets should only work on a player that has better equipment than they do. So no more senseless killings by a fully fed bandit with more food and a better gun than their victim. Also the one they wrongly tried to kill would be able to go after them as they would have the lesser equipment (forcing bandits to think twice about killing for lulz). People would then only bandit in roleplaying appropriate situations. As it is with killing for vehicles make anyone killable within 50 feet of a vehicle or something.

    The green acres Im refering to that now have a 6h respawn limit is the area outside of vegetation (no grass texture except the flat ground, the border can be clearly seen and other people here have posted pictures). You arent supposed to be able to pitch tents there but due to bugs it has sometimes been possible anyway. Tents, sandbags, wirekits, tank traps and so forth have now been wiped. There are fields in far north, west and northwest that are fine to setup bases in that still have long grass. But I'd personally say those fields are usually where people get the same idea... so they stumble upon other people camps. Someone complained that this is a "win" for carebears. I'd say this is a nerf against carebears who want safe places to store their phat lewtz. This is a boost to playing inside the map borders. Grow a pair, hide your bases better in deep forests. Dont store your vehicles in large psuedo-parking lots where they are easy to spot. Got myself a nice little camp in almost center of map where we have a couple of tents. Gone 2 weeks without anyone finding it (L85, NVG, rangefinder etc). If you want to build big camps (that are easy to spot), prepare to defend it or keep watch. I know some hardcore communities out there actually post guards through out the day/night to spot hostiles. As for the future. I've got a few ideas on how to assist people who do want to build bases and fortify it. I'll be discussing it with Rocket and see what he thinks. And also a few ideas on method to handle ghosting, more on that in separate posts.

    LOL Better hurry and store your important stuff in your tent/car and sprint to the NW airfield for 1 last "hardcore PVP" session.. Soon death might matter to you like it does to us carebears. I was in top death leaderboards for months' date=' knew the map inside out while you were still getting achievements for pressing space in some carebear game of yours. By the time I hit 1k hours playing dayz I pretty much done everything possible in this mod. Items are far down on my list of things I want from this game. But the group/clan aspect that this game has is practically being removed due to not having a lasting objective/goal/base because you whiners want free and easy stuff BECAUSE YOU CARE(bear) about it more than anyone, why would you be so happy otherwise? pathetic hypocritical ignorant twerps. [/quote'] Are you so naïve? You are the one who wants safety. You are the one avoiding pvp. Putting your stuff off map is far more "care bear" than anything I've heard suggested around here except "remove pvp". Setting up your little green acres camps is weak. Why don't you just go play arma on your own server and set up a super leet camp full of stuff and just sit there looking at it? Man up, grow a pair and figure out how to survive inside the boundaries of the game. Or you can go back to collecting hair clips on Hello Kitty Island. Oh my god this! You'd have to be blind, or just downright stupid, to not see the irony of bitching about "carebears" getting saving vehicles off the map removed.

    unfortunately, there was no possible way to steal those vehicles. They were hidden in a spot that no one would ever go and would have a tough time stumbling upon. The tents were completely separate, and they were all spread out... I guess the server reset and wiped everything... i dont get it, why does this always happen?

Once you die you respawn along with all the gear you hid, etc. That is bullshit. In theory, that sounds like a great idea. Permadeath is a very powerful concept that has the potential to completely change how players value their in-game lives. In practice, however, it's nearly impossible to do. How would you "tie" a car to a particular user? And, as usual, dedicated clans that devote every waking minute of their lives to one-upping everyone in DayZ would find a way to cheat the system.

  8. Hey fellas. Listen, we have a TS that is public for anyone and everyone to join, but before I get onto that, I figured I'd say what I have to say. Or basically, what I am looking for. I am looking for players who are dedicated, mature, tactical minded, and willing to work together as a team to complete various objectives. Whether it's patrolling for vehicles, or camps, or going to the NW airfield at the early morning hours, and being overwatch, or provided spotting for your sniper, or having an assault rifle and moving from the main buildings in support of the rest of the group. Basically, I say this. We aren't a clan, basically it's just a community of like minded individuals who come on and play the games they enjoy. But I'm trying to at least take the DayZ portion to the next level. We have players from all over, who operate at different times, and things like that. Some requirements: Maturity (I won't make an absurd age requirement, but due to issues in the past I'd have to say I'd personally prefer 18+) Play-time. There's really only one rule: Never, and I mean ever for any reason, kill someone who is on the teamspeak server with you, at any time. Unless of course it's by accident and you can apologize and/or help that player require his gear by either A) watching over his body or B) helping him reacquire gear in the case of his body disappearing. Things like that. I'm really only asking for cool individuals, doesn't matter where you're from, europe, america, etc etc, to come on, and hang out. If you don't have a clan to goto, or a teamspeak server you play on, then feel free to use ours and get to know the other people who play. Currently a lot of people are european and play at off-peak hours that most americans are used to, so I'm doing this to try and muster up a little bit of a crowd and some new faces to see every day on teamspeak. Like I said, you're free to use it, and as long as you clear it with a staff member, you're free to invite friends to it. As long as it's within reason, and they meet the maturity level requirement, and can follow the golden rule I stated. Once I see more people coming onto the teamspeak, me, and the others can decide what we'll do about forming SERIOUS, committed DayZ squads who will not only loot the high-risk areas, and hit other PK'ers where it hurts, but also form units to patrol for vehicles/camps, etc. Like I said earlier. So with all that said, I'll give you my steam id if you have any questions. It may take a while to gather some attention, but I can only hope we'll get more people in here and working together as the game progresses through alpha and becomes a polished piece.

    Choose Your Background

    I know that this has been suggested before, but not in the way I envision it. When you choose one of the following survivor backgrounds, you do not get different items on spawn or anything. Instead, you receive little class specific buffs, abilities, and a corresponding armband to designate them as each class. All of the buffs are designed so that they would benefit a group more than an individual. By having these little buffs, it will encourage people to work together as opposed to shooting on sight. I will give explanations about each survivor ability at the bottom of this post. THESE ARE IDEAS TO BE IMPLEMENTED WHEN THE DESIGNERS SHIFT GAME ENGINES, NOT FOR THE DERPY ARMA II ENGINE. PLEASE JUDGE THESE IDEAS WITHOUT CONSIDERING THE DIFFICULTY WITH WHICH THEY WOULD BE IMPLEMENTED. Medical Background (Medic): Carries out medical treatments on other survivors twice as fast and can perform them while moving. Also gains the 'apply pressure' ability that will allow them to stop bleeding for as long as both survivors are not moving. (in case there are no bandages) Any survivors within 3m of the medic will regain 1 blood unit per second. DOES NOT APPLY TO SELF OR OTHER MEDICAL PERSONNEL. DOES NOT STACK. Military Background (Soldier): Gains ability 'Rally' which gives designated survivors +20% Accuracy with firearms when within 30m of Soldier. DOES NOT APPLY TO SELF, DOES NOT STACK. The survivor that chooses this Background will also gain a +5% Accuracy bonus. Gains ability 'Blood Brothers' to be used on another Soldier. When within 3m of each other, reload speed is doubled. CAN ONLY BE USED ON OTHER SOLDIERS AND IS 2-WAY. Engineering Background (Engineer): Can build kits twice as fast. (Tank traps, wire fencing, campfires, ect) Gains ability 'Tinker'. Tinker allows the engineer to make vehicles run 1.5x as efficiently (i.e. 200L of gas will make a car go as far as it would if it had 300L of gas.) Gains ability 'Blockade'. Blockade allows the Engineer to force a door to stay closed against mid level damage. Blockade would have a cooldown. Gains ability 'Overclock' Overclock allows the Engineer to mod flashlights to shine brighter, but will permanently burn out if left on for longer than 5 minutes straight. Athletic Background (Athlete): No negative effects from prolonged sprinting. Gains ability 'Carry'. Can pick up a wounded or unconscious survivor and run with them. Cannot shoot or use items while carrying. Gains ability 'Show Off'. When within 30m of a friendly survivor, Athletes do 50% bonus damage with melee weapons. Athletes will autovault over obstacles. Social Background (Socialite): Can see how many survivors someone has killed. Gains ability 'Disguise'. Can change the appearance of the armband so that they may trick other survivors or bandits into thinking that they are of another background. Gains ability 'Surrender'. Surrender waves a white flag and forces the user to disarm for 60 seconds. If hit by a zombie or survivor, the 60 second wait time is cleared. Gains ability 'Sabotage'. Sabotage allows the Socialite to make a gun jam, a car not start, or a grenade explode instantly when the pin is pulled. Socialites will see English subtitles beneath the Russian on the signs throughout the world. Hunter Background (Scout): Gains ability 'Track'. Track allows the scout to examine the ground for tracks. The traveled path of the trackee will glow for the Scout. Gets 50% extra meat from hunting animals. Crossbow bolts fired by the Scout will have a trail along its flight path allowing for an easier retrieval. Survivors within 5m of the Scout will have their noise levels reduced by one bar. Loner Background (Lone Wolf): Gains +1000 maximum blood. When within 30m of other survivors, accuracy goes down by 25%. Gains ability 'Adrenaline Rush'. Adrenaline Rush increases sprint speed by 25%, forces the player out of shock and allows them to WALK on a broken bone. Adrenaline rush lasts 20 seconds. For this duration, bleed rate is multiplied by 4. Adrenaline Rush can only be used once every 24 hours. Medic- Meant to be the most sought after member of a group. Disguising as a Medic is a bad idea since Disguise doesn't give the socialite the small healing aura. Soldier- Supposed to be a leader type. Blood brothers is a bond between two soldiers that will allow for a last stand next to each other with nonstop firing. Engineer- More of an independent background. Would be sought after if a small group had a vehicle. The Engineer's blockade ability would allow for a moment's rest when a group or individual dives into a small house to escape a ravenous horde. Athlete- The first line of defense, meant to do heavy lifting. Socialite- A bandit's best friend. They can swap out their armband to trick a group into accepting them. If a group already has a couple of medics and a Scout, one could disguise themselves as a Soldier so they could more effectively infiltrate their group. Surrender is meant so that a player could effectively declare I AM FRIENDLY to other players. Most of the shooting I've seen is due to everyone living in fear of being shot. This would allow a short cease fire so that a player could negotiate as opposed to open firing. Sabotage would be useful in group vs. group situations. A socialite could leave a bunch of sabotaged equipment out in the open for the enemy. The ability to read the Russian signs is meant to be an incentive for all groups to have a Socialite with them. Scout- Great for sneaking and chasing enemy bandits/survivors. Lone Wolf- For people who want to play the game solo. Adrenaline Rush is meant as a risky escape. Bleeding horribly and limping from a zombie horde could be better than laying their being eaten. The Lone Wolf would have an incentive to avoid large groups. The final goal with these classes is to reduce the amount of survivors killing each other. I want a bandit to aim his sights at a survivor, see that he is a medic, then threaten him into healing him. Better yet, I want people to keep an active look out for the other classes so that they can all benefit from each others' presence. PLEASE COMMENT WITH FEEDBACK OR OTHER BACKGROUND IDEAS!
  10. You do realize what this is going to do to this game right? People like me who like collecting shit guns cars etc are going to have nothing to do. SO what I'm going to do is what every other(hate to say this) CoD boy does. I'm going to grab me a cco and ruin noobs lifes. What else is there to do in this game? Also the people who say they can't find vehicles arent looking at the right places. I've found multiple vehicles from different servers in the SAME spot. Think of it this way. You guys are telling me you wont take another vehicle if you saw it? No one in their right mind is going to leave a vehicle there for another person. Stop lying to your self.

    Are we HSZ members really that much of a threat to you? One of us has already been falsely banned, if he can't appeal it I'll be buying him a new copy of ArmA, but now you want to call us scripters? Man we get a lot of hate off the people we screw over, lol. Don't hate, we're all legit. We're constantly running all over, I myself just came across 5 different vehicles, it's not hard to find them with the way Dayz has it's graphic limitations set up. Shit all you have to do is be so far away so grass and such doesn't show up and then look around, everything sticks out plan as day. If we found you and screwed you over don't get butt hurt. I've lost top tier shit multiple times, you don't see me raging on the forums about scripters and hackers.
  12. I would love to see some AI controlled areas that are EXTREMELY hard to infiltrate as an "endgame" sort of feature. Not just able to be sniped from afar and farmed for loot, but something that would need a team of players to assault. I understand that the game is a sandbox, but this would keep the spirit of the mod. It does get a little boring for me when I have had a camp and a few vehicles for a week or so.. Just my two cents.
  13. My UAZ and my tractors dissapeared. My tents that contained: 2 bizons - 6 mags fn fal - 3 mags m107 - 1 mag 2 g17 - 8 mags m16a2 m302 - 3 mags, 5 HE 1 frag 25+ blood bags 20+ morphine food water etc Why did this all dissapear? It seems whenever I put things into tents or vehicles I end up losing everything. Ive lost 3 FN FALs and 2 M16 Grenade launchers without firing a single shot.

    Reasons I kill people: - Not being killed by the other guy - Fun/Challenge :D - Vehicles - His weapon or maybe Mags for it - NVG / GPS / Rangefinder - Backpack (If better) Other than that I don't give a fuck about his stuff and what I am looking for is most likely what he is carrying even if tents were way more common. Anything else can easily be found so why would I kill for that ?

    Show vehicle slots like 10/100 etc

    I think the problem with this is that arma 2 currently has a system where different items take up different slots. Like ammo and food are considered general usage items (same with car parts and utility items I believe) But weapons take up a different kind of slot ina vehicle. I think vehicles have something like 8 weapon slots and 50 general slots or something to that regard which cannot be expressed easily in a system like the OPs

    Tent and Vehicle Storage - How not to glitch?

    The tent and vehicle gear storage is a great idea but isn't reliable enough right now. If anyone else has tips or tricks on how to keep items in their vehicles, post it. Hey, more stuff to steal :). I haven't had a chance to test mavericks tent theory.
  20. So today a "Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]" was performed. Me and my friend noticed even LESS loot spawning today. Only tin cans. Everywhere. Only tin cans. It seems that empty tin cans are spawn more often and we find even less useable things then before (i.e. yesterday) Was it a silent hotfix to test out players reaction? update: So me and my friend are playing for 2h now and cant find ANY weapon. We play on almost empty servers looting cherno and electro. Only TIN CANS.

  23. I signed up to tell one more case. Me and my guild played on this server for a few days. About 20-30 minutes ago, one of my Guild-Mates noticed, that all of our vehicles and tents disappeared. He also told me from a Admin-Message/Question something said like "Its all okay now?". I stayed next to the vehicle when this happened, but tabbed to desktop to read Wiki an look up something. So the Server didnt restart. We also had floyD on this server! The "Admin". Told us hes reachable/contactable over chat (vehicle/direct communication/etc.). He didnt answer. We wanted to play on this server for longer. Now all of our things are gone. What happened?! Fix it or this should have consequences. Sorry, english is not my mother language. EDIT: Tents and vehicles seems to replaced. Thanks. What happened?

  25. I died, obviously - crashing into a tree as per. Literally though, so much fun driving it - just found it in a field, discovered it worked and drove it all the way to the NW Airfield! Looted two barracks, attempted to drive it down to Pogorevka to the fuel pump but alas, twas not meant to be. Anyone else find driving vehicles in this ridiculously fun? :D
