  1. So I found this camp at UK41. I spawned on the debug plains and I was heading back to the nearest city when I see a mountain. I remember saying to my friends that I found a place that would be amazing for a camp, and bloody hell, was I right. There was a camp in there. And I mean a HUGE camp. Lots of vehicles and tents. So I fill up their pickup truck and get my friends that logged on, so as I left the pickup truck, I heard an Ural speeding through the forest I was in. I hide behind a tree and make an headcount. 4-5 foes, nothing I can't handle. So I head to the another hill, just a bit up to the north, prone in there, and I scout their camp to see what they were doing. By this time I knew they would be looking for the people who took their pickup truck, so I just kept myself still and watched their movements. One of them gets in a motorcycle and drives to the East. As soon as their only player with a Ghillie Suit stopped for a bit, I fire my sniper twice at him and I get a confirmed kill. Before the second guy next to him could even react, he was dead too. The third guy saw both of them falling down and tried to get a visual on me, behind the cover of a tent. That was of no use to him, since I killed him easily too. As soon as my friends get to their camp, I hear shots from the West, trying to kill me. I see dirt flying everywhere, as he tries to snipe me. I zig zag for a bit and try to see him. I can't. Things got serious now, as all my friends are hiding and can't cover me. I wait for a bit and see he's heading to the North East, just behind where I was. As soon as he shows himself out I get a single shot to his head. So I though it was the end of the story. 5 minutes later we start hearing a couple of shots and since he had what he wanted we just scatter around and go in different directions, so that they can't follow us so easily. We forgot to blow the rest of their tents, just to piss them off. But that would be too bad, since they had all this trouble. I have no problem with hiding tents, just vehicles. That's really lame. So each one of us took a vehicle and went their ways. After a couple of hours I get in and head back to their camp just to see if anyone's there. I see one guy driving a huge Tractor on a field and try to take a shot at him, but he was moving pretty fast and was far away. So I don't risk the shot and let him go, as other people could still be in the camp. So we head out to the camp and see that there are still ALOT of guns in there. So go get them while you can, if you want. For the guys from the camp. It was a well built camp, but the amount of vehicle stash was just mega lame. Still, it's pretty fun to take down people with high-tier gear so easily.
  2. Date/time: Not sure. I will come back with an exact time stamp next time this happens to me as it happens a lot. What happened: Debug monitor disappearing and some game features stops working. Where you were: Location doesn't seem to matter. It has happened in cherno/elekro camping and in the woods while running. Or that's at least when I discovered it was gone. What you were doing: Nothing special, it happens randomly it appears. Current installed version: 95417 & 1.7.2.4 (Last time it happened) Server(s) you were on: SE4, SE3, SE12, SE27, Norway 5 (These are the ones I remember only). System specifications CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3 REV B3 RAM: 8GB (4x2GB Corsair CL9 1600Mhz XMS3) Graphics Card: XFX Radeon HD 5870 1GB Sound Card: Realtek ALC892 7.1 Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster S23A700D (120HZ) Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Internet Connection: 100/10 Fiber Every time I've played DayZ I've encountered this bug. I have no idea what could be causing this since only some of my friends are getting the same issue. This usually happens when I've been playing for a while. I'll notice out of nowhere that my debug monitor has disappeared. Not that it matters that much really if that was the only thing that happened. It's easily fixable by just pushing abort in the menu and go all the way back to the screen that shows who's connected to the server. When you've gotten there, you just click OK again to spawn. After that it's working for a while again, but the problem will come back and you'll have to do it again. When the debug monitor disappears some game features stop working as well. Here's a list of things I've noticed that stopped working when it disappears: Bandages. Both on yourself and others. When used nothing happens and you'll get to keep the bandage aswell. Blood Bags. You can't give other players blood. You wont even see the option for it while looking on the player needing blood. Equipping Clothing. When trying to equip clothing, nothing happens. When doing the fix you'll see that the clothing you found is now a "civilian clothing" instead. Chopping wood. Removing tank traps with toolbox. Removing barb wire with toolbox. Zombie detection bar. (The eye icon) Eating and drinking Hourglass displaying how long you're unconscious. Not visible. Refuel vehicles Saving vehicles Pick up vehicle parts or jerry cans. I think this extends to any item, not sure. I will continue to add stuff to the list. I would guess that any item that requires interaction stops working. Not 100% sure about it though. You can still shoot, reload, kill and open doors. And you're not out of sync with anyone as they can see you absolutely fine.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

First off... New forums are sick! love it. Now about the new patch. [bUGS] It is extremely easy to duplicate items in this current patch - Happened to us by mistake. But this is what we've found as a group. If you do not upgrade, from 1.7.1.5 and play on the 1.7.2 server, you can run around looting, shooting all that nice stuff, without any zombie aggro what so ever. You can also just jump back into a 1.7.1.5 server and have all your gear you had before you died. If a player was to shoot you. Again, this was discovered by mistake by our group of players, one of the guys didn't update correctly, but was able to play. You can loot, and so long as you jump back onto a 1.7.1.5 server before dying in 1.7.2 it saves all your gear + location. This is obviously extremely easy to exploit rare loot spawns be it by server hopping through the barracks or simply running like a maniac. Then the clincher. once you have found the GPS, L85 etc etc. you go back to your 1.7.1.5 server it saves. you go back to your buddies and then simply respawn. They loot your phat lewts, while you simply abort, go back to any 1.7.1.5 server, you are spawned again with the full kit. rinse and repeat. We didnt have an L85 etc but we did manage to easily duplicate a boatload of items. I'm seeing a lot of people "xxx was killed" over and over, so i'm assuming that we're not the only group to stumble upon this bug/exploit. There is also one other HUGE exploit. Ghillie suits. If you stay on version 1.7.1.5, log into a 1.7.2 server and you're wearing the ghillie you have none of the issues we are facing when wearing it on 1.7.2. I.e no random spawns to the sea, no swimming indoors no warping around or respawns. What you do actually get is one HUGE advantage. because people in 1.7.2 can not see you. You are completely invisible They sometime can hear your footsteps, but not 100% of the time. and you can kill them. This has been tried and tested by ourselves to see what we can still actually do whilst not upgrading (after seeing the duplicating thing happen) This to me is almost more game breaking than the duping of the items, because there's nothing stopping some invisible ghillie guy following you back to your ents, vehicles. and raiding you, right while you stand there. Please fix it, as it's a game killer. [GOOD THINGS] The FPS / Performance is fantastic, i never really had FPS issues save a few hacked games with tons of satchels going off ring in front of me. But the game just feels so much more responsive. The zombies probability thingy, is great. Taking us out the comfort zone once again, and it's something you won't ever be able to get used to. great idea, and it's working (so far) very very well.
  4. Looking for other bandits to play with. My old group (real life friends) can't seem to log into the servers since 1.7.2 and stopped playing after they got hacked recently. I believe I am on day 20 and have decent gear: m24, svd camo (no mags), m1911, (lost my ghillie suit since 1.7.2). My friends lost my NVG and range finder since they were borrowing them when they got hacked. I have a mumble server that can fit 20 people and I can increase the size if need be since I have a lot of friends using it already for various games such as Diablo 3, WoW, LoL, and Dayz. If you just want to join us for fun on other games I won't mind you using my server as long as you are respectful. Real life info: I am 22 years old and enjoy having fun in games but can be serious about it as well. Currently I am senior at a university and majoring with exercise science and a minor in health science. After I graduate I wish to attend grad school to get a masters and doctors in physical therapy. I live at home with my parents and am currently jobless other than helping with my family business. Goal: To form some sort of base camp to store loot and run with a group of people to loot survivors. By forming a base we don't have to worry about dieing because we can respawn and run back to get geared again and continue the killing. I have already stored a few vehicles and I am currently looking to store my weapons so that I can continue looting. If your are interested please send me a PM (private message) or add Ardorgale as a contact on steam. Edit: Btw I usually play on US servers since I live in the East Coast.
  5. sometimes on a server restart vehicles and tents dissapear. all of them. server needs to restart again and they will come back. This happens quite often. The reason it put you all the way back there (this happens sometimes aswell) was cos you drove all the way there without stopping. If you got out before berezino and disconnected before the restart you would of been saved there. Sometimes doesnt save you on a restart. It does if u dissconnect or loose connection in a car but not if the server restarts whilst you were driving. Hope this helps and hope you find the hilux again, im guessing its where u last left it before the server restarted. Server just needs an other restart. Good Luck
  6. hey fellas, was playing quite some time today with 3 friends, we started the day off trying to hunt some vehicles. not 5 minutes after i logged in i spot a half broken V3S in Prigo, me obviously going there to see and check if it works. wasn't fully repaired, but hey, it worked. went from prigo all the way to lopatino and searched for a spot somewhere southwest of it to hide it there. we were mainly gonna use this truck to store stuff in. later me and someone else went on some deer stand hunting. while looting some deer stands we stumble upon the barn northwest of myshkino, the white offroad pickup truck is able to spawn there, and it did for us. it was almost all red. luckily we had some wheels in our truck. we went looking for the others parts for almost an hour. finally it was all fueled up, repaired and ready to go. we drove it up to our camp to get the stuff we stored in out of there, and put it into our V3S. one of us had to go and i decide to ride the pickup truck to berezino to pick up a buddy who recently died due to alt tabbing while having zombie aggro. (i've been using the save vehicle button alot of times on these 2 cars). while driving over northwest airfield towards berezino i get the no message received error. i kind of panic because these 2 are the only vehicles i've found for myself or my group. it was a quick server restart and i was able to log back in not a long time later. i notice that i spawned all the way back at the white offroad pickup spawn point, northwest of myshkino. this is where i get worried, i still had stuff in my backpack that i had found a few hours ago, even though i had already put it in the V3S meanwhile. i don't see the white pickup truck anywhere at the spawn point. i run 3 kilometers back to our camp and not only our white pickup truck is gone, but also the V3S, which also contained a DMR + NVG's. i was obviously quite sad at this point and i don't know what really happened, the server was indeed quite laggy but i wouldn't expect an unannounced server restart out of nowhere. is there any way to avoid this in the future? i don't want to lose any vehicles again. also, what was the cause of this? why would the server rollback to like 1,5/2 hours ago?

    First impression: This sucks.

Check your 3D resolution setting in the visuals. Even if you have everything maxed, if it's not set to the proper res, things will look blurry. I found that one out myself. Odd, but there it is... As others have said: it's in alpha. Thirdly, there's a lot more to the game than a lot of singular-minded people seem to understand... still... if people aren't spoon-fed goals and told what to do, it's as if far too many people cant think for themslves. The game is about survival, and it's not actually "minimalistic"; there's a lot to it in terms of the mechanics. Having to/being able to loot, eat and drink (an accurate mechanic; the more you run, the faster/more you have to eat and drink), being able to get infected, many different weapons, intensely stealthy but also some great action if you're quick and know what you're doing, and the use of everything from matches and wood to start campfires in order to cook meat, which you get by obtaining a hunting knife to gut animals, the use of medical supplies you find such as morphine, blood bags and bandages... ...and keeping yourself alive. "Just" staying away from zombies? It's all part of using stealth, or balls-out firefights if you're quick enough and set-up for it... but, boring? Is that statement serious? Man, the tension and atmosphere in the game are intense. Zombies cause serious damage, and you also have other players to worry about, just as in a real-life scenario. You're constantly having to change positions, decide how to approach an objective, such as moving your way through a town filled with zeds, possibly players as well, and how you're going to snag the loot there-in to survive. Excellent music/ambiance in the background, and the lighting and day/night cycles add to the mood. Yes, there's a bunch of issues right now... but alpha is alpha, beta is beta... what do you expect? You have to "make your own fun" in an open world, decide how you're going to survive and fight (and sneak) hard to do it. It's not Call of Duty, man. Do you team-up with someone? Will you get sniped out in a field or aggro zombies that are around the corner from a building you're attempting to enter? Will you get whacked by another player when you're walking through a town or building where they're hiding, and/or eaten by the rotting flesh-bags roaming around? Will you find enough food and drink to survive to take with you on your trek around the world? Will you find enough ammo to protect yourself? When should you/should you not fire-off a shot? Or take the chance of looting a town? There's also vehicles, though it can be hard to get one in working order; once in a while you'll find one that already is, however, but don't count on it, so there's vehicle parts you can hunt for. It's a game for people who love stealth and tactics, both in terms of tactical movement and planning, even in terms of eating, drinking, where/when to find/use food, what items are most important to stock up on, and there's stil plenty of shooting, if you've enough ammo to go that route. Most people don't like the open PvP aspect, but, that just adds to the realism. For those who are into a game with more depth, we'll keep coming back, even if annoyed that some jamook sniped you from a treeline or tower, or you accidentally got swarmed by zeds and ended up becoming zombie meat. But, if you don't "get it", then it's obviously not your thing... but how many times does this "game" (mod) have to be explained? People need to check into things more before they get into it, if they're unsure as to what it's "all about". If you don't enjoy it, then don't play it, no one is forcing you to. If you do want to play it, try to hook-up with/make some friends, as going it alone is far tougher. Fun as hell when you can pull it off, but can be very difficult.
  8. So, my friends recently opened a new server and invited me onto it. The moment it comes up we log on and try to run to vehicle spawn spots so we can have a UAZ and 1-2 backup cars on our new home. On my way to the NE Airstrip, I encountered 2 tents which was very odd(both empty), as only like 2 random people had joined so far. Upon logging in late, another one of our friends said there was wire fencing blocking off the building he was in. We all ran to several different vehicle spawns that we knew of, and none had vehicles. Do new servers just copy the world of a previous map under the same server name? Or what happened.
  9. Certainly on my survival check-list XD I kind of meant plausible devices (whatever they may be :s)' date=' i mean if the game holds onto sandbox features whilst exploring several different features of activities/interactions; so as examples including other threads ive come across, moding vehicles/weapons/skins(clothes), establishing and fortifying bases, foraging/bush-craft(survivalist creativity); with the intention of pushing sandbox interaction, it might also be the basics for exploring with economic mechanics. So the basics of what i was thinking were simple repairs to radio/gps/torch/vehicle radios(this would be along the lines of similar principles with weapon repairs, if included :s) The remote laptop device mentioned earlier (dunno whether by OP) also could be a very delicate rare item, which could be vulnerable in a fire fight, but repairable in an organized group. Expanding it further for the sake of sandbox, it could also include possible repairs to street lights/inner building lights(when/if buildings are opened up in arma 3 XD). An assortment of items could possibly create a sort of security(NV) camera to look over approaches to established organized settlements, aswell as the equipment for receiving visual feed created and established somewhere in the base (computers stripped from offices/schools). The camera could also possibly be worked in conjunction with one of the radio towers for distant observations of positions of interest (whatever that clans p.o.i might be) If bases were set up around airfields, maybe mechanics could be developed around utilizing the radar system in the ac towers? Which advanced groups who wanna monitor the (mist)hordes XD plan movements/retreats/evasion-tactics/camp lock-down tactics/ or a rid-the-world-of-zeds-campaign. Or maybe make the whole process even more of a challenge and make survivors de-construct the equipment and haul it back to base (along the lines of suggestions for stripping damaged vehicles for parts) http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/25101-airborne-virus-v35/page__hl__%2Bairborne+%2Bvirus (If the mist was really damaging, advanced groups could of stripped medical equipment from hospitals to deal with those suffering the affects, helping new players to interact with the established DayZ community, and giving a risky dilemma to lone wolves and small groups on whether to approach and if they will need to offer/do anything for treatment XD) lol if (severe) environmental effects were considered more seriously you could even construct a small portable wind generator http://inhabitat.com...e-wind-turbine/ that'd be lighter and quieter than the portable fuel generator, but more unpredictable/vulnerable to changing weather. I dunno, like i said before im not sure on what the electric kit could serve for devices, maybe it would be purely for larger more complex arrangements repaired with a catalogue of various electrical components, mirroring the same mechanics to vehicles and their associated universal used items. But the sandbox element combined with the challenge of hauling and combining rare equipment/components/items could explore options for a basic economic interaction between established groups and small groups/survivors wishing to use facilities/equipment. Alot of this also depends on whether clans/groups could establish well fortified permanent bases without them being spit roasted by exploits/hacks as ive seen in game very large groups and large assortments of items/vehicles/perma-fixtures be destroyed by ghosters (or even a well placed sniper considering what cherno/electro looks like lit up with flares let alone street lights)

    Update came. Where helicopters?

Wow, someone who can actually explain this issue. I've been trying to get a legitimate response about this issue for weeks and have yet to get one. Thank you for that. The reason I haven't understood the issue is because in the vanilla game there are dozens of vehicles/air flying around the map at any given time and one helicopter breaks DayZ? I didn't understand that. So a bug broke it? Alright, that I can understand.

    Eliminate M107 and AS50

To shoot people, obviously. As to shoot vehicles.

    teleport kill on US302

I kept playing on this server until a couple of days ago and I would be surprised if these NCR guys were doing it. I switched server because the the settings seemed to be changed by the server's admins (activated crosshair, map markers etc) Anyways. I think it was 2-3 days ago where me and my buddy finaly faced those NCR guys. I think they had a Camo Military Jeep which we engaged while they were getting some food from a goat or cow. They hauled ass. Dunno if the car was in bad shape or not but I fired about 60 rounds fullauto into it with my M249SAW. We went to the NE Airfield because we were quite sure that this was where they would go now. We came there with our ATV and Motocycle and got shot at. I ended up killing two of them with my M249SAW while I broke another one's legs and he got eaten by Zombies. Then one of them managed to kill my buddy but I finished this one off too. Gave me a nice DMR. There was still another one hauling ass or at least hiding somewhere I think. But I went back to our vehicles asap after I picked up the DMR and some other stuff. Hell, I even left the big CoyoteBackpack on my dead buddy. Didn't want to take risk. The point is that these guys put up a fight and manned up. None of them disconnected to save their asses like most pussies do and they gave me some nice loot. I really can't imagine that they're responsible and don't deserve your accusation. Anyways, I saw something like this coming anyway since the Admin made a total 180° with the server settings, so I left. Seems like I lucked out there :P
  13. Logged on a few minutes ago after being unable to due to the loading bug earlier and our camp is now completely gone, no tents, no vehicles, nothing. Thought it was a faulty restart but my tent I had on another server is missing now too. What's going on? The forum is too full of bitching, I can't find anything useful. Did the servers get wiped as a result of this rollback?
  14. First I'll start off with some basic information. -System Specs- OS: Windows Vista 64bit Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz Memory: 4094MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 -Display- Device: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip Type: GeForce 9600 GT DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC Approximate Total Memory: 2287 MB Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor --- Okay, so now a description of my problem. Today I purchased the ARMA II: Combined Operations Pack on Steam. It downloaded and installed without issues, although it did pause for a good hour when I decided to play L4D2 but I doubt that caused any issues. Everything worked well. I wanted to get the DayZ mod so I could play with some friends, and it looked like a lot of fun. I've always been a big fan of survival games. So after launching ARMA II, I went to launch Operation Arrowhead. I had some difficulty with that, some sort of strange errors. A quick Google helped me fix it by exiting out of Steam, and then re-launching Steam as Administrator. Now that I had, at that point, successfully launched both titles to their respective main-menus, I came onto the main website (as in, this one we're on now) and it gave me tons of different options to download. I had no clue which one, so I chose the SixUpdater US Mirror. I got the SixUpdater/Launcher set-up without problems. I checked to ensure the DayZ files and folders were all placed in their correct locations, and then I set a path to the mod by going to my Library on Steam, right-clicking Operation Arrowhead, Properties, and then set it to something like -mod@DayZ -nosplash or along those lines, I forget exactly what it was at this point and I'm too lazy to go check. I managed to find some servers with good pings and joined. A loading screen followed, with a picture of military vehicles lined up in front of some airfield hangars. However, I was already having some concerns. The loading bar reached about a quarter of the way, then zipped back down to zero and started back up again. After that finished in around 15 seconds, another screen popped up giving me three options. I believe the first one was Server Control, the second Disconnect, and the third being O.K. I clicked the O.K. button and a progress bar of some sort popped up, having to do with missions I think. Can't be sure, I didn't get a chance to read it all. That same screen popped up, with the military vehicles and loading bar, and then suddenly another loading screen appeared that was all black, and in the center was a completely filled progress bar with "Loading" beneath it. Five minutes later, nothing happened. Another five minutes passed and still nothing happened. Since then I've attempted to connect to many different servers in both the SixLauncher (which has been set-up correctly with the folder paths and everything, as well as verified and running on the most recent version) and also I tried doing it through Operation Arrowhead. Basically, I went back to my Steam Library, right-clicked, and chose Launch ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead. ANOTHER strange thing happened. The first thing that appeared was that same damn loading screen with the military vehicles and airplane hangars. It read "Please wait..." or something along those lines. That finished, and I was at the main-menu, but I'd never experienced that before. Anyways, I went to multiplayer, filtered out non-DayZ servers and tried connecting that way to no avail. The only problem I've been experiencing is that just before I'm in the game, it just freezes on that last, blank loading screen. Please help. I would just like to play. D:
  15. Fraggle (DayZ)

    Carry player with broken legs...

I'm not sure about loading them into vehicles. I honestly never tried it in the original Arma. In the Arma training theres a section about carrying/dragging/medics ect. But nothing about putting them in vehicles :(
  16. Restarting server because of a few people saying their tents/vehicles disappeared. Hoping the restart will fix this issue. Unless its bugged from 1.7.2. Will be back up in a few seconds.
  17. Kharne

    Disrespect in-game sucks.

Yeah man, I mean destroying your vehicles and flattening your tents is fine. But that stuff on the map is a bit over the top. Like everyone said, no attachment and just learn from your mistakes (if you can name any). Space your loot out, don't keep all your eggs in one nest, reduces the chances of all your stash being taken/destroyed. I have killing in-game, but there are those rare moments that teaming up is very rewarding. This is one of them moments, you lived an excellent life, now time to rebuild. Think it as the GFC. Global Fuckwit Convention. You'll live.

    Props to Williams

Yup, I'm glad there are real gamers in our midst. We also got people in our clan who stole our vehicles lol

L85A2 gone, snipers will reign supreme

For a game that isn't supposed to have balancing, Rocket sure loves buffing snipers. It isn't about balance, it's simply about facing a sniper being such a binary system. People open up with "well if you are fighting a sniper" You don't fight a sniper, you don't see one, you can't plan for one, and you can't find one. You die, one shot, every time, while they sit up somewhere in perfect safety. They can log in and shoot you, log out and find another server, rinse and repeat. They don't have to worry about missing, or pulling zombies, and they're completely self-sufficient, whereas the survivor can't do so much as cough without dying. If there is a sniper, you are dead and they are perfectly safe. The only way to "outplay" a sniper is to simply never go near any form of civilization, and I can play THE ARMORY for that. I've been saying for years that snipers ruin FPS games, and at the end of the day my argument has been proven right every time. Games with them become all about sniper warfare. It's impossible to force people into a middle ground unless it's constant close quarters (ala Call of Duty) or there are vehicles (Battlefield) and even then, mass snipers becomes a chronic problem. (Strike at Kharkand, bridges down, line of 30 snipers) Get rid of scopes, ditch the NVGs, and watch DayZ become fun again. That's not balancing, that's a gameplay shift. If someone kills with an Enfield, rock on dude, but an AS50 as 800m? Why? If long range sniping and killing people without fear of being shot at is what you want, there's Sniper: Ghost Warrior for that. It's time the sniper rifle left the FPS, and if DayZ is going to become the WoW of FPS games (talking about popularity/everyone comparing to it) then this is vital to gameplay. Think about it: If Rogues could one shot kill everyone at long range and be able to vanish easily, would anyone on WoW play a Paladin?
  24. There has been a huge increase of hackers in every server and even youtube clips of people trying these hacks. This includes Godmode, infinite ammo, teleportation, vehice/item spawn and ESP hacks. This literally makes the game unplayable on most servers now as there is no point in getting gear/vehicles/tents up as they will most likely be gone no matter where you hide them in a matter of minutes. I see no way how they could prevent this anymore as most of these hacks have been in Arma 2 for sometime and unless they find a method to instantly ban a character the second their database receives corrupted/imported/sudden change in data such as teleporation then this problem will only get worse.
