It sounds like all of the vehicles on the server you use have been hoarded by a group. All I can suggest is finding the base and stealing them back. Or find a server where there's not so much hoarding.

Base Defenses ( Document included )
chefwillis replied to ZombieGrin's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I suggest keys/locks. You aren't thinking outside the box. Why the hell would a tent have a lock anyways? The lock would be on some sort of safe; a big ass safe or something similar and lockable and box-like, another reason i suggest a lock is that they can only destroy your tents with explosives and vehicles which are rarer than players stumbling across your shit. So I'm down with locks. -
War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!
U.B.C.S. Hops replied to Mungaloid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What? You're kidding right? This is just banditry under the name of justice. Don't tell me if you find a camp with no vehicles you aren't going to loot it. This makes me rage. You are going to piss so many survivors just doing their own thing, off. And what do you think they are going to think? "Oh! Its okay! They must have just thought we were bandits so they took our shit and left it on the beach! Such smart people in this game!" Rethink your plan, sheriff. -
To have all those vehicles and weapons in those tents, you didn't even attempt to hide anything. You have everything right out in the open, on flat ground. Not attempts from what I can tell to hide things behind trees or in any way whatsoever. You aren't very attached to this massive camp you have. Save face all you want. If you shut the server down once or several times as the OP says, you were doing some pretty fishy stuff and are a pretty shady admin.

War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!
Mungaloid replied to Mungaloid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
true. I just wanted to see if you were a bandit in disguise lol, and where did my topic post say anything about shooting? ultimately thought the camps will be raided anyways why not give away the excess gear to the people without weapons and such. to some extend if your living in the north you've come acrossed tents and vehicles and likely taken a few things, if you were to take that stuff you left behind in the extra vehicles to the coast you could be part of a solution or atleast trying to make a difference instead of being impartial. -
A definitive end-game discussion. Experiences & Opinions.
dsi24 replied to Goldstein (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Like Eve, there is no end-game, only a late-game, which anyone can reach at anytime regardless of experience or game time. (due to having connections with others in the late-game) The late-game in this is chaotic unless you're just sitting on your ass, and even then you can wake up to a pillaged camp with some vehicles missing and the rest blown up. -
Easiest way to maintain environment security and central database performance is to do data pushes to a mirror server/cloud host. (begin ramble) E.g. public do not connect to the main db, the main db has a cronjob (if linux) or scheduled task (windows) that runs every hour. When it runs it pushes a dump of the data (excl: xxx inventories (players, tents, vehicles, etc)) to a cloud host or beefy load balanced web cluster (to handle the load of potentially half a million people * 32 (lots of fat to allow for some people doing uncached, dynamic signatures on busy forums, posting popular threads)). The format of the data could be csv, xml, etc to allow for off server processing (thus reducing the load on the server as most load a game stats server would see would be database transactional load caused by queries) I know this is a hell of an ask (and I am expecting to be shot down, flame grilled to death and put on a kabab by the community) is it at all possible for the community to be provided with the database schema (e.g. structure) and example data (or real data with the squishy bits removed) with the purpose of encouraging someone to develop a dump script (obviously as plain text or as a binary with source code for all binary elements for obvious reasons...) thus lightening the load on the devs/encouraging community participation? (/end ramble) My question is kinda vague as I don't know how it all is stored (al be it flat file (plausible), sqlite, mysql/mssql (most likely), oracle (plausible but unlikely), some unknown propriety format, etc)

I play DayZ to Roleplay
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Powell (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You have 10 minutes from now 1:54AM EST to list as many games as possible that include Open world. Unrestricted competitive PvP. Realistic weapons and authentic combat simulation. Vehicles. Zombies. Go. I dare you. Now, my turn. Here are the games that include cooperative zombie killing without all that pesky military equipment, PvP and open-worldlieness: Dead Island Left 4 Dead Resident Evil Dead Rising Chernarus Apocalypse That was just 10 seconds. How did I do? Maybe you're the one playing the wrong game? -
War on banditry!!! Join the fight!!!
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Mungaloid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes! Too right! Because survivors totally just give their vehicles away to random people on the street out of the kindness of their hearts. People are just so cute sometimes with this stuff. -
Just about all of em have been gone for awhile... did they all get name changes? I do notice a ton more US ### servers. Or are they all just behind with the new updates? Quite sad as I had plenty of vehicles/tents on several of these servers.
-
They never came back. Sorry for the delay. I was really asking if there were hacks/scripts out there that could spawn those vehicles. Before making assumptions. I made a judgement call for the security of my server that I pay for. I want it to be fun place for people to enjoy themselves on. As for my friend, no. He didn't want to take the vehicle because he figured if it were hacked it could some how bug his character. (stranger things have happened). Anyways, have a good night fellas.

Hey guys, I run a server and here is a run down of what happened: There were three of us in game. (all RL friends) We were the only ones in the server at the time. One of my friends was in Stary Sobor. He said a couple people had just logged on. I make the comical reference "I wonder where they are? I better get out of the NW airfield." When suddenly I hear... "Nope, they are in Stary Sobor. I'm dead." The two of us chuckle and the other friend respawns in Stolichny (or whatever it's called). Not even 3 minutes after his death(still us three and the other three logged in only). He sees the three mysterious players pass through Stolichny on 3 vehicles. (One Truck, one ATV and one Sedan.) These are players we've never seen before. There were no vehicles in Stary where my friend had fallen. Let alone 3 vehicles. So I kicked them with an explanation of suspicious activity. Now my friend who spawned in Stoli finds two of their vehicles. They had 11 wheels. 21 cooked steaks etc. etc. just way too much equipment imo. And to top it off, the vehicles were all green. Perfect condition. Could this be the activity of scripts/hacks? Thanks for reading! Just realized I posted this in the wrong section. Meant to put it in the cheater reporting. Sorry admins! PS: To clarify. No one benefited from those vehicles after said players were kicked. We went about our merry DayZ way and he made his way back to camp on foot.

Um, really? One, you didn't post any proof, and your post is just full of rage. Two, anyone can find tents especially if you are using a hotspot that most people know about. Alot of people tend to use the West side of the map, as those roads run out all the way to the edge of the map, allowing you to easily run your off map vehicle to an off map location. Grozovy Pass and the road past Kamenka to the West are both highly used by plenty of "new" players to DayZ. Other hotspots are up North along the "offmap" Mountains where plenty of people put tents, vehicles, etc. that stick out like the broadside of a barn. Not to mention, if you weren't conspicuous with your vehicle movement or player movement, anyone that is highly geared along the coast or up North around the edges of the map WILL follow you. If you used any of the highways, especially down South you were just asking for trouble. Yes, hackers do exist, but don't blame everything on hackers. If you were flushed from your spot for instance, it's VERY easy for anyone to track you, especially if they have an ATV or some sort of fast vehicle like a Motorcycle.

Nice ^^ but my favorite video was the one on a forum post called "Abandoned Vehicles" in the Suggestions forum. I can't explain it, I just wish the game had some of those props that just enhance the game feeling. I guess that really doesn't have anything to do with this :C
-
There are a few hacks that give up locations of tents and vehicles. I have found having a vehicle is often more of a problem then anything else.

Hello, I am a fairly new DayZ player (only the last 10 days or so) and I love this game. The sandbox concept and huge world makes this game super appealing; however, I noticed my middle finder on my left hand has started to feel the pain from running around a 225sq km map all day. I've invested in a quarter to shove in between my 'W' and '2' keys to allow my character to run without me holding the key down all of the time, but that doesn't always work and isn’t really a permanent solution. Back in the day I used to play the original Everquest game that also has a gigantic in game world and they had 'Num Lock' as the autorun key. Is there any way we can implement that into the DayZ mod? I've been thinking about the realism part of the game, and I know a few people who run marathons. They say when they are running they don’t even think about it, it’s as if they are on autopilot. So I would assume that a lost individual in a zombie apocalypse who's had to run non-stop for days on end would have the same mindset, so this would not take away from the realism concept of the game (which I love so much). And as far as the vehicles are concerned, most automobiles since the 1980's have had cruise control, so maybe we can just assume that’s what our characters are using if they apply the numlock/autorun while in a vehicle. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Tents still duping/losing items 1.7.1.5
Diwwah replied to kicktd's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
We're constantly raiding camps that keep respawning on server boots and we don't get to keep any of the gear because it all disappears from our vehicles on server boots. We also know the location of a tent that keeps respawning an L85 AWS so we can basically pick one up whenever someone dies. -
spawning tents and vehicles must be code for: Barracks loot. Stupid cunts.
-
I'm sure this will be flamed and forgotten, as it is similar to class suggestions, but I figure I'll post it anyhow. In real life, everyone is not an expert marksman, hunter, gatherer, mechanic, etc. How about letting players choose specializations when they spawn? If you are good at fixing cars, maybe that bandit won't kill you right away; at least not until you fix his ride, anyway. This doesn't mean a player is totally inept at all tasks, but just better at some. Maybe normal players could fix vehicles to 75% health, or have 25% worse accuracy with an assault rifle. Maybe a specialized hunter can carve more steaks out of a sheep. A few suggestions: * Gatherer: more loot spawns for you. * Mechanic: Able to repair vehicles to 100% health * Marksman: more accurate with weapons * Health Nut: Thirst/Hunger meter depletes slower (give your beans to friends) * Medic: Ability to splint broken legs and give more effective blood transfusions * Hunter: harvest more meat from animals. I don't think this would give anyone an unfair advantage over others, and it could be enough to keep people from shooting on sight. From a coding standpoint, I don't see how it would be terribly difficult to implement. As an added bonus, players could learn specializations as well. Killing things improves marksmanship, gutting animals improves hunting, waiting the right amount of time before eating improves metabolism, etc.

For those of you that value your eyeballs, here's a transcript of the ideas. For fun, and justification of why I hate his guts. 1) Remove vehicles 2) Nerf bandits 3) Select your spawn location 4) Safe zone NW of NWA 5) Missions / Build camps and barricades 6) Host our own servers (???) INTERLUDE: F*ck bandits, go back to CoD a) Fix all the bugs, don't use ArmA engine B) Add cooking timer, food poisoning, fishing c) Dig caves/trenches/holes to trap people (sort of contradicts the whole "fuck bandits" theme) d) Add global chat back e) Build shelters / traps f) Crafting / Fire arrows g) Horses h) Climb trees i) Start with pistol j) Radios are useless, everyone uses Skype anyway (so... global chat is still out?) k) Offline servers, cheats/hackers allowed INTERLUDE: I have so many ideas lol NEW THEME: Hardcore servers! a) No HUD B) Get colder quicker in rain c) More zombies - in woods and cities CONCLUSION Lol DayZ owns BF3 People don't post ideas because they're scared of criticism PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE ENDING YAAAY (Second Post) Correct, I do not respect your opinion. Mainly because I think you made this topic while high on some strong dope. Also because you look like an albino Scumbag Steve.

Hello, (Edit - Sorry for the lost post, got carried away and did not know it was that long) I typed them here because it saves space making lots of little threads all over the place. This is my first post on this forums. I've not long been playing Dayz and I love it so much, I've not even gone back to BF3 or anything else. Dayz has taken over my life. I watched the video with the Interview with Rocket and got me thinking on something he's said. 1. If the game went to a standalone game I would throw my money at you so fast, you would be blurred. Standalone you could improve upon the game and add things that are more pleasing for a zombie game, and take things out like 90% of the armoured vehicles, heli's because they are not being used. Only some of the vehicles are. Also world increase could be good. Do not worry on the size, Max Payne 3 is 35Gb and campaign not even that long. This would not have a campaign kinda.... So 40Gb of pure content, survival and special things like some of the things I've typed below. 2. Bandits tool. Me and a few friends find each other after many many hours or running alone, and we get some good stash from some raids, only to be killed by some bandits. This is extremely annoying and I know this would be a fact of realism but why not... Something like awareness on bandits. So if a bandit is around they are marked red or something in an area they are located. Like the white marks on the side of the screen for zombies but a bright red one for the location of a bandit. Not the full location just the area around they are. (They are proper proper annoying, players just being total c**ks because they cannot do it themselves) Only for 5 murders and above they show up, so people can avoid them if they wanted too because I would and do not want to play on a server where people murder others... 3. Spawning.... When you first spawn into the game you are random spawned onto the shore or inland and then take hours upon hours finding your friends. Why not a spawn selection BUT area not a specific location. So we could select South West area, and it will spawn us on the shore south west some where. So we still got to find out friends but it is an area not completely jotting all over the place... Also only allow the shores a spawn place... No inland just shore. 4. No objective is good, and no safe zones... BUT... Why not right at the tip top of the map, past the airfield.. Make a base or a wall that is safe.. So you can go in there, get ammo, guns, food etc and then venture back out to look for more survivors. Good idea on the ground that it's a massive run across the map and you'd need to stop and eat, but it is the idea of making the run to safety to find it and only run back out to find others or something you know? 5. If the game went standalone it would be good but needs to have a mission I think. Maybe setup camp, fortify the camp, go out for supplies. If you died then have to get back to your base to rearm up... Unless someone else has taken and raided it. So the ability to baricade windows. Move stuff, knock wood into the windows and doors etc. (That would make alot of noise too) Would have to find steel nails, or make them from a factory press.... That be a long trip for some nails lol. 6. Ability to run our own servers for friends etc, Also allow the ability to take the characters from our servers to others, seeing as Battleye is on why not. I would like to host my own server from my PC. Play online with friends in comfort with battleye protection... and if someone joined and killed one of us. I would ban them, and other players could join in and play too, friendly. If we turned Battleye off then the server should go in offline mode, so the characters cannot be carried to the other servers. Battleye 0 is cheats and no hive mode. Battleye 1 and the hive works and can be taken all over. Only so murderers can be banned so we can enjoy the game for what it is.. I love this game, I really do. If I put aside the bugs and glitches, like the zombies running super fast to catch up, running through walls, or dropping from the sky etc, the list is kinda big. It does not annoy or bother me. It is the bandits that really really REALLY annoy me. If you are a bandit then please get a life... and go play COD or some other game. The game has alot of potential but I do not think Arma is the game for it. Yes it is big, and yes it has alot but look at the game themselves. The Arma games are buggy as hell. I've found alot of them in the game, and the controls are insane. There are sooooo many controls it is insane to even sit there and read them. Massive open world zombie survival has never been done before. There is no game like it, so I think it is unique. Dead Island, Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Killing Floor etc, the list is big are all VERY linear games. One way of approaching it, and this is the only game I can think of that you can do what you want, got to eat, cook, camp, drink, gets tired etc... Why not add other things like: Cooking time must be a certain time or you can under cook food and become sick, so the character is sick and needs pills to get better... fishing so we chop down a tree, make a line, get cloth and get fishing for food to cook and eat with hunting knife. Digging a hole or trench so we can dig out a hole or gap into a mountain, into the floor or something so that we can dig into a mountain and stop the zombies from climbing up... But then light a fire in the cave would glow out massively and attract them, and they'd wait at the bottom... Try to escape that people... :P (So we could dig kinda deep but a limit you know.. Chat Channels are helping. Global so I can type and see how people are on the other side of the world like. Taking them away was a little silly... They help. Ability to create a shelter.. So using the cloth we've found or taken from zombies we could use to make string or something, and close trees depending on the lenght, we could hang it up and put leaves across it... So like Rocket said (he's from the military) he should know. Making a base without a tent, so we could also use the digging hole trick to set traps. Dig a hole, string and leaves over the dop, people/ zombies walk over, fall in and stuck inside. Easy kill zombie, or survivor found bad accident. Clothes and cloth comes alot of options. So wrap around a steel bolt, set on fire.. Becomes a fire arrow, shoot at zombies, or poor petrol around floor and shoot at that, stop zombies getting through fire, or buildings on fire. Ridable horses, so only in farm lands... We find horses in a barn or something. Saddle on the wall, mount it and ride off. 2 people per horse too, and some barns have 4 horses. Minimum in each barn 2. Ability to climb a tree. So we walk up to a tree and climb right to the top, to look out and get bairings so we know where we are. Also, why not ability to start off with a pistol, but only.... 5 shots in the gun. That is it. Gives you a little chance. So a basic pistol with 5 shots and that is it, but make the gun so you cannot find ammo for it. Like add a special one off 5 shot ammo gun, so something that does not use any other ammo around and once the 5 shots are gone, they are gone. That is it, must find another gun. Radios are useless to me, because I play with friends and we talk over Skype an ingame Radio for other players I mute about 99% of the time, because some peoples voices are annoying and sometimes it's some 13year old kid screaming like a girl. So I prefer to type chat to other players around the game. Playing on an offline server, with cheats enabled is fine. It is offline and their server so they can play it how they like, and should not be bannable because it is their server, their game and it is offline, so if Battleye is turned off.... The game will not go live and only offline, so cheat away. No character carry over. As soon as it goes live and you load it. If you've been on a different server or something online then your character shall be loaded, just saying... I've been on an offline server and cheats just made it SUPER boring and no fun, went back online to a battleye server and doing the game it is ment to be played is just pure amazing. I've got lots and lots of ideas it is just typing them down when my head is full of the ones I am typing down, lol. Well thank you for taking time to read this post. Been writing down off the top of my head, and forgot most of them as I've been thinking how to work something, lol. Hardcore Servers (Veteran) and normal changes Then option for a hardcore server comes in... Hardcore could have nothing on the screen. No markers no food have to relay on sounds. Belly rumbles. Blood spitting out to heal. Thirsty sounds could be grasping for breath. So then that could be nothing on screen for people. Hardcore and normal servers. Heatpacks? I've never ever used a heatpack and never ever had a problem or needed to, so is there is a problem there? Rain should make you colder quicker right? Also needs more zombies. Way more zombies. Need them walking randomly around the forest. Way more in the big cities, like alot more of them. Sorry BF3 but Dayz has beaten you. If you do not like them, then do not post. I have posted this because I think that they are a good idea. Some people are obviously scared on other peoples oppinions than their own, so I do not care. This is what I think would be good, which is why I have posted it here. If you think they are terrible then fine, save your breath because I do not care. Kind Regards, Menphuess!

Vehicles that remain unused for a short period of time (<=24h) outside map boundary now respawns inside map boundary at their original chance based spawn points. Also a quick 24h notice. If you have tents hidden outside of map in the green acres- be sure to pickup your gear now as those tents will now be swept away by the strong winds of those wide plains. (NON RP reason: no you shouldnt be building bases hidden outside of map boundaries, tents and items outside of map boundary will now be removed on regular basis.) -------------------------------------------------- I'm not saying this is the problem for you, But im reposting it so u can read it.
-
did u destryoy the vehicles and all the equipment or does ur friend now own a new car? also i find it highly concerning that an admin can kick people and take or destroy their cars just because he thinks they are hacking w/o any real evidence.
