Come on Rocket, You Were in the Air Force!
Redshift replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am so sorry for you. The developers really should stop hacking into your computers and writing scripts that force you to play a certain way. /sarcasm Helicopters should stay out of the game. IMO they don't fit the feel of the game at all. It takes you out of the survival mode, and lets you zoom around the map in a flying fortess while being immune to zombies and much safer from other players. And as someone else said adding Helicopters will not cure you from your boredom. Within a day you will have your chopper up and running and be bored again. This will then force you to fly around the coast and big cities killing everyone you see with much more expediency than you did before. If you are that bored because you have "everything" then here are a few ideas: 1) Put everything you have into tents and run all of them over, then drop the vehicles off in high traffic areas where other players (beside yourself) can easily find them, then respawn. Now you can get it all back while starting with nothing, this should be at least as much fun as it was the first time and give you something to do. 2) break into a few smaller groups and hunt eachother down with all of your phat lootz. This should prove much more entertaining than hunting down random poorly equipped players on the coast. 3) Play the good samaritan. Pack up a few czech or alice packs with gear and run along the coast. See how many new players you can help before getting killed. Honestly 1 is the best option imo. It solves all of your stated problems. The only real reason you wouldn't want to do it is if all of your excuses are just that, excuses for doing what you really want to do anyway and a way of asking for a even more powerful weapon (choppers) to do it with. -
Damaged engine causing a car to explode in a fireball when starting it?
skjold replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As a ArmA series player since 2001 be VERY carefull with vehicles that isnt green. -
...AND you guys got chased-down by 2 ATVs while you were driving big-slow vehicles, not too hard to figure-out that formula especially when the guys at camp knew which direction you were headed. A failed car-jacking attempt is what it was - barely I might add but still failed... Oh, and who was logging in-and-out and waiting for us as we approached camp? One of our guys spots a guy in a Ghillie suit at our camp just chillin' so he takes cover, gives approximate coordinates and one of our snipers locates him after he finally moves. Then from around 500 meters and, well needless to say the "problem was handled accordingly"... :P

Damaged engine causing a car to explode in a fireball when starting it?
nacrom replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's pretty obvious you don't have much experience with vehicles as this has absolutely nothing to do with your driving skill. Please go troll somewhere else. -
So I heard about this ordeal today unluckily for you guys I was not on. I love how you throw accusations around about chronic and lil chronic hacking because you "continued to take fire no matter how far you got". Did it not occur to you that people are following and shooting? Also how come you and your clan of people who disconnect while being shot at all left while they were chasing you? I believe you were the only ones who broke rules here feel free to have logs posted because I can guarantee the only person in the wrong here is in you. Why dont you go disconnect some more after cowardly taking other peoples vehicles and leave at the first sign of trouble some more...
-
LOL oops. Well it WAS in the middle of a road, looked like it had been abandoned. It didn't even occur to me to check the contents of the car. Which leads me to ask another question; So vehicles remain in the game, where you left them, for all to see when you quit the game? So, what happens when I log out and I was sitting in the car at the time?
-
I'll chalk this one up as one hell of a sniper shot. New player here...how would one go about forcing a 'save'? Do vehicles travel with you to different servers? (I am guessing they do not)

Damaged engine causing a car to explode in a fireball when starting it?
nacrom replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It takes a very specific series of events in order for a vehicle to EXPLODE IN A BALL OF FIRE. The entire system is so Hollywood it's laughable. True story: ATV randomly flips over. Engine is red. We leave it in the field. A few hours later another member of the group gets on it. He drives 3 feet and gets consumed by a fireball. Moral of story: ATV's are deathtraps as are vehicles with damaged engines. But, yay for bear traps! -
Fully repaired vehicles?
Wulfear replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Fully repaired and mostly repaired vehicles have seemed to be more common for a few patches now. Though I have been finding a lot less of them....bad luck I guess. -
The owner wrote through BattleEye that it was for THIRTY as50's. About a week prior to this someone on the server reported that they found one of the cheated ammo boxes on the server in a forest with 5 of every weapon in dayz, and weapons not from dayZ in it. It was apparent someone on my server was hacking. Fast forward to last night, while searching woods in an attempt to find camps I stumble upon a quaint little base with the UARL, two trucks, a bus and about 5 other vehicles. This was all fine and well until i looked into the contents of the bus and and UARL and between the two found over 30 As'50s, 17 NVG and more then 5 of every other end game weapon. I can understand a slew of weapons, but Thirty AS50's and 17 NVGS is way too much of a give away. Especially considering that my group routinley checks downed helis every restart, we often leave weapons there but not 30 as50s worth, not in the month the server has been alive. A total of 7 of them were banned last night, all with Russian IP's. Another player on the server also mentioned to me a few hours earlier they were in Cherno and found almost every building blown up. There were about 7 dead bodies of one of their group named Max all scattered within the same area, all still with satchel charges on them. Noting that when I searched the logs of every player i was able to then identify their group and noticed every single one of the suspects had literally every tool(inc nvgs/range finder/gps), an AS50, and 3 or more pipe bombs on them. I believe as anyone should note Satchel Charges are hard enough to find, the fact that this group not only had over 30 as 50s as well as clearly over the same amount of satchel charges as well as the mysterious multiple dead body count suggests to me teleporting and item spawning. This is why you and your friends were banned from the server.

Fully repaired vehicles?
Quagmire (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would be happy just to find a vehicle full stop. I rarely come across any vehicles, repairable or otherwise. -
Yeah mate, was wandering from vehicle spot to vehicle spot on a server yesterday. Ca 15km total. Got 14 spots and not one single freakin car. Will now head back to my camp, get some firepower, 3 Jerry Cans and will wander along the edge of the map. Stealing one car and blow up all the others. Its freakin hilarious how some clans seem to hide the whole vehicles somewhere -.-"
-
I act alone during night. I blow up every single vehicles parked in forest that catches my sight. I work for newbs who search their repairable vehicles on spawning location. I am Robin Hood.

Infiltrated their camp up north (~TGTF~ clan) members were killed by us and they immediately restarted the server, restoring back their vehicles and gear...we lost our Ural loaded with days worth of gear because of the forced restart. You lost a fire-fight, no need to cheat. Funny how the rest of your clan came on immediately to move gear and whatnot from the location of your camp. Server US370 is a poorly run server and in my opinion should be disciplined.

What is the best/fastest way to find a vehicle?
jimmy163 replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
Find a server that isn't run by a clan. I found one and have found 5 vehicles. Pretty much every other server though has a large clan hoarding everything. -
"Somehow" players found my group's large camp site stretching 1200 or so meters across, every single vehicle, every single tent, everything. Each vehicle blown up and each tent looted and empty, not even a single empty tin can in our decoy tents. At every tent/vehicle the "raiders" placed a public mark on the map such as "Nice camp", "Nice duped vehicles and weapons", "Oh we also saw that here", "And here", "Burned that truck too.", "Don't need hacked stuff"... Must I go on? But on a more serious note, our several camps were set up so if 1 was raided, all our other tents are in a safe secure place, we had tents literally invisible into tri-bushes of trees that even our own members had trouble looking for. Either those guys are the biggest hypocrites in game (hacking to find camps/blowing them to shreds)... Or so incredibly lucking and they're insanely good. Mind you, our campsites have been untouched for 20 or so days, have any of you guys come across map hackers? It really just sucked the fun out of the game after getting out characters nuked 4 or so times in the past several days, then finally everything "blown up" for us. PS: Isn't it just a tad bit curious that these players, instead of TAKING the vehicles full of M4's, several 50 cals, LMGs, etc... They simply, blow it up? Then accuse us of hacking- (even though they're probably hacking). So how often do you guys come across this sort of hypocritical behavior?

How Many Times Have You.... (map hackers)?
[email protected] replied to Nirvana620's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Also we blow up the vehicles because we don't need them. We take the good stuff like NVG, AS50 and UAZ then blow up the rest since it's only garbage we don't need, now other players can find and repair them, and you're going to relocate your camp either way. Sometimes I wonder why people try to hide stuff like buses and civi cars in the woods, they do like 12km off road and are stick out like a sore thumb. -
Go and try to find bandit camps at the edges of the map where bandits hoard vehicles. Or, just run around while keeping an eye out for them. That's how a friend and I found a tractor yesterday (and then I crashed it into a tree, losing 11k blood, broke a leg and then spent an hour crawling to the Berezino hospital, but that's a completely different story).

What is the best/fastest way to find a vehicle?
EnermaX replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
http://bit.ly/MfrxYD However, many vehicles are "collected" by douchebags and hidden outside of the map, so you probably won't see many. -
Will never pick up a grenade again
[email protected] replied to frankyes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hate em too. One time I had someone hostage, dropped a grenade at their feet and it didn't kill them. I find it's only useful for destroying stationary vehicles. -
What is the best/fastest way to find a vehicle?
Hakultair replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
If you're on a new server it's by just walking around (not near the coasts) and keeping your eyes open. But on servers that have been there for more then 2 weeks I'd suggest scouting the edges of the map for other peoples vehicles. -
Sorry but I'm bringing vehicles into this discussion. I've been a lucky dude. I've encountered a ton of vehicles. I've been the owner of a stolen bus. I like submachine guns. I prefer an MP5(SD) over any sniper rifle in the game. I give almost all the weapons I fins to my teammates. So if I die I know I can find that gun pretty easy in NW and be on my way. OK back to vehicles. I found a broken ATV and nursed that SOB to life. I found a heli crash right after I got it working. Now, its flipped on the dock. I would have wiggled it back over but it ran out of gas. I've waited before 4 - 5 server resets to get it flipped back over. Point of the story is I'm obsessed with getting my 90kph vehicle back to working. I only got to use it for an hour tops. Its been about 2 days that I've been watching it while its flipped. I'm not attached to my gear.. just my ATV. Its a gateway drug. It'll take me to better things.

First of all, I don't fully understand the "don't get attached to your gear" argument/the default reply of some people. I am aware this is alpha and bugs run rampant, but if look past all that, you will see that the gear attachment is similar to what happens in MMOs - people become attached to their characters. So why do we become attached to our gear? For the most part getting high tier gear and weapons requires quite a substantial effort -.unless you manage to find a camp/kill a geared person. Another thing is how high tier weapons give you a much higher survival chance vs zombies & players - things such as silencers and scoped rifles. Lastly, gear is what motivates people to go North - military loot, crashed heli sites, barracks... If there was no loot there would be no point in exploring unless it's for the sake of exploring - lets leave the vehicles out of this discussion please.

This server should be avoided. Tents and saved vehicles disappear one day and reappear the next. Characters often aren't saved even after several hours of play. I played several hours yesterday and found two military offroad vehicles. After driving them around for an hour me and my friend stashed them in the woods. Today they are gone as well as 4 tents at 4 locations. Also when I spawned into the game I was at the Northwest Airbase in pitch dark and was shot before I could find my way out (lost some prime gear too). The server resets every 160 minutes and whether your tents or vehicles will reappear when it restarts is anyone's guess. Oh yes, and there is hacking. Lots of it. My friends are abandoning this server and as soon as I can find a new server that works and doesn't disappear on me ( I mean US 509 Atlanta here) I'll move my tents over (if they ever reappear again).
